Medical Visit (Serious Discussion Optional)
Date of Scene: 30 March 2015
Location: Medbay - Heavily Secured Wing
Synopsis: Psyber and Haruno has a serious talk.
Cast of Characters: 134, 253

Psyber (253) has posed:
Despite recent disagreements and arguments, Haruno was still listed under medical files as one of Psyber's two Primary Care Physicians. Since Laine was out chasing birds in the park, and rarely did duty in the medical station, Haruno was called in to check on a patient whose file she was named in who had dropped into the wing randomly.

And that's how we're here: Psyber is hanging out in an exam room with his right pantleg rolled up to his knee and some bloody bandages around one of his calves. He'd been nursing the wound for two days and it wasn't healing quite as fast as he'd like. Plus it gave him a good enough reason to drop in and surprise the ever-elusive medic.

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
Not that Sakura was in Njorun proper all that often, though in recent weeks it had been rather more than in months prior. Still, it's easy enough to find out when she would be, or just to catch her by luck; once she got there, she usually had to be pushed out the door.

She knows who's in the room before coming in, of course. Files get read, especially ones where ninety plus percent of the history had been written by her to begin with. "What did you do to yourself now?" Is the rather resigned, tired-sounding question from the medic, who as usual looks like she'd seen better days at some point in her life.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Two days ago. Deployment in Mizuki's world. This is going to sound weird, but I got bit by a donut. When it didn't heal after a couple days, I got worried," Of course, with how strung out he's been, his regen outside of fights has just slowed down a bit. It would probably be fine by the end of the week if he didn't exacerbate it (spoilers: He tends to exacerbate it).

"Wanted to make sure it wasn't infected. Plus I had to talk to you about a couple things anyway. Seemed good enough to knock out two things in one sitting."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"What would you have done if I hadn't been here, then?" She asks, figuring the answer was proably something along the lines of ignoring it. "And I don't know anything about Mizuki's world, but I'm never going there now."

She'll ignore the part about talking to her, rather than make it any easier on him to segue into that, though she'll start unwrapping the bandages to take a look at the wound right away. He may want to talk fast if he wants to finish by the end of the exam.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"I dunno. Probably go to a tatoo parlor. Have them tattoo something right on the muscle while it's already exposed." Psyber notes in a wry tone. As she unwraps the bandages on his leg, it's not a very healthy looking wound. It's not INFECTED, but it's pretty obvious he bandaged it himself by the fact that it's all bandage and almost no gauze. The wound is also really deep, not unlike a bite-and-rip sort of wound.

He won't let her block his segue, because if he can't do it smoothly, he'll just do it bluntly, "I'm sorry about some of the stuff I shouted at you a few weeks back. Moving to Dun Realtai wasn't an easy call for you, and I had to right to call you a monster. That was a shitty escalation of our disagreement on my part."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"You really need to get Laine to look at these when they happen if you're not going to let someone officially with medical do it." Sakura chides, sighing at the look of the wound. "Or learn to bandage properly, or at least clean it out a bit better. It's not infected, at least, so no amputations today." She could fight off virtually any infection, of course, but she might amputate just to teach a valuable lesson in first aid. Her hand will flair up with precisely controlled chakra as she goes to work shutting the wound, not bothering to warn him about the slightly cold feeling it will come with.

"...mm. Well, I can't say I was happy about it, no, but if it was how you felt..." She'll trail off, leaving him to draw his own conclusions, not giving much in those areas.

Psyber (253) has posed:
When you carry around a graping leg wound for days, a hard chilling sensation from magic healing is a tolerable, and slightly pleasant, change. He's moderately glad she doesn't decide to amputate, "It's not how I actually feel, it's something I said in the heat of the moment. You're not a monster, and I know that, but."

He sighs, "I miss when your teasing used to feel more like friendly ribbing and less like constant attacks. Just last night, it really felt like you were accusing me of drugging Nathan for mind control." He shrugs a bit, "I know I can't change your mind about Elliana or about what I think. But I don't like the open hostility any more, it's too stressful."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"What else am I supposed to think? Something clearly happened to Hall, because he damn sure didn't just change his mind a hundred and eighty degrees. He doesn't even change his mind five degrees. You may or may not have done it, but there's something obviously, blatently wrong with him, and you don't seem very interested in finding out what it is." Sakura is clearly less worried about clearing the air of all the hostility, and more worried about finding out just what that is, possibly because of the whole coup thing.

In any case, she's moving towards more aggitated, not less, though her chakra remains tightly under control as she works on the wound. "You think I was enjoying the hostility up until this point? That I like feeling chased out of my home by that woman?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"You're right. Something is wrong with him, but it's not a drug," Psyber actually doesn't disagree with Haruno on the front of something being wrong with Nathan, "I think he suffered a nervous break. One second we were arguing, then he lost control of his magic, and then he changed his entire opinion." He keeps the leg pretty still, letting her heal it up, "A psychosomatic injury. He does need help."

Meanwhile, the half-angel also sighs a bit, "No, I don't think you enjoy the hostility. I could make any number of statements about 'that woman' and 'you being chased out', but I'm not going to." He grits his teeth slightly while she works on the injury, "Point is, if we can't agree, I want us to be able to coexist without taking potshots at eachother. We're supposed to be friends."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"If he had a nervous break, then he needs to be in the hospital, not running the Union. If he didn't, and there's something else affecting his mind, then that needs to be stopped. And given that it seems to be giving everything you or Elliana could want from him, the people with the motives to do that kind of thing are pretty obvious. I'm going to put a salve on this, and you're going to leave it bandaged, or else it's going to rather badly scar."

She'll do as she's just said, in spite of the lack of a transition there, speaking as she does. "Are we still friends, then? Do you have room for friends who aren't on your side with this obsession with trying to redeem her, or will I find myself suddenly completely reversing my thoughts on it if I stay near you? I shouldn't have even the slightest doubts about that last, but.. how can I not?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber looks genuinely wounded. Aside from the genuine wound, he also looks pretty hurt as Haruno re-asserts her accusation towards him, looking down and away from her abruptly, "I wanted to change his mind, not fundamentally alter it, or break it. I don't DO that and Elliana wasn't anywhere near us when it happened. We were just arguing in a mission yesterday and he snapped or something. I didn't do anything more than shout."

He looks back towards her and glares a bit, "I'd like to think we're friends. I've given up on altering your dissenting opinion, and yet am here anyway to make ammends. You've been the one who escalated this disagreement in almost all instances. The most I ever asked from you was to tolerate her existence in a single location. Not agree with it, not... welcome her with open arms. Not change your entire world view." He frowns, "When I gave you a dozen locks for your door, you accused me of keeping keys to invalidate them. When you asked me to consider your viewpoint, and I still disagreed after doing so, you left and claimed I chose her over you."

He looks at her seriously, turning her own question back on her, "Do YOU have room for friends who aren't on YOUR side with your obsession that she's going to kill me?" He adds, "Or do I have to worry about accusations, insults, and berating if I stay near you? I shouldn't have even the slightest doubts about that, but how can I not?" He almost perfectly echoes her words back to her in a serious tone.

He mumbles, "Yeah, bandage the leg. Can I walk on it for ops tonight, or will I need a cane or something?"

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"You shouldn't go on a combat operation tonight, or probably tomorrow. When you ignore me, and you're going to ignore me on it, don't say I didn't tell you so when you end up with a limp for life. A cane would at least look stylish." Sakura adds.

"You think he snapped, and you're just going to let him wonder around and keep going like that? He needs to be in treatment, if that's what's happened, not organizing the Union. But I guess it's just too convenient having him act the way he is for you to help with that. You may not have done it, but you certainly seem to be taking advantage. I don't really see the difference, and there was a time when you wouldn't have, either."

She'll finish with the bandage, then look up, sighing. "You still don't actually understand, I guess. But I moved out. You don't have to stay near me, if it hurts so much, if I'm so intolerable. I still have to look into what happened to Hall, because it's my duty, even if you don't want to grant me that much. It's not like I even like him, or some of how he was acting before, but you have to see why he can't be left like that."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"I'm not Nathan Hall's therapist," Psyber says to Haruno, looking dead at her, "And he's not of a rank which I can order him to go to therapy, much as I actually do think he needs it and I do think he's not presently fully capable of objective decision making," As Haruno presses into him, Psyber's tone and vocal patterns sort of detach. He takes an almost Nathan-like pattern of speech, "I have no means to stop him beyond brute force, which would be an inefficient application of both his and my skillsets. It's not about my convenience, it was about impeded Union operations and my inability to mitigate his existing emotional trauma."

"I am not the only one lacking in understanding, though," Psyber says, looking down at her as he moves the leg a bit, "I am here becaues I find your presence tolerable and your friendship to be an emotionally stabilizing factor. You may not immediately notice, but the increased hostility and the tension has caused me substantial interpersonal detriment and duress."

"Despite the duress caused by your hostility, I am endeavoring to make ammends and salvage the relationship we had at one point, because the sustained stress of your insults is vastly outweighed by both your value as an associate and your redeeming qualities as an individual."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"And have you reported it up the chain, to the people who need to know this?" Flowers finally says, with a sigh. "But no, you and he are going to keep doing this false horseshit. And here you go with it, too, just as bad as him; do you think the rest of us can't tell? These lies don't do anyone any favors. If we can't come to an agreement, if there's nothing we can do except for hurt one another, isn't it better to just blow up and mourn it, rather than pretend everything is okay? I can't live a lie like that. That's the selfish part of why I left; I can't pretend we're all okay, and that we should just mouth things we don't mean to get along and get by until someone gets killed because of it."

"You seem to have learned it from him, too. You never used to do that. Or I couldn't get out of my own head enough to notice it. But I don't like it; it's dishonest, it's wrong, it's not you at all."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber brings his hands up and rubs his face, "Who up the chain? The non-existant Field Marshal or the hibernating, non-present Dragon?" Psyber counters with a bit of annoyance in his voice. Not AT her, but at the situation. He wished he could have just reported it to a boss and been done, but that wasn't an option given to him, "I had no chain. Nathan was the chain. Still is."

"But no, you're right. I didn't used to always be this way. I used to be allowed to relax, but not so much. This is who I had to become to adapt to all the stress," Psyber says pretty bluntly. He scowls, "I miss when it used to be like when I first met you, and I came in to the ER at 2 AM on a Wednesday because my lead pipe hurt."

"I can't change who I am, or my desire to protect people, even the ones others hate. That doesn't mean I want to stop being your friend, but I don't want to stop being Elliana's either. Or Nathan. Or Amalthea, who is confused by the entire thing happening between the three of us."

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"Mmph. Then as his boss in Heaven or Hell." Sakura says, folding her arms under her chest. "But this still just sounds like it's nothing that's going to get better. It's not that you chose her over me, though I believe that if push comes to shove that you would. It's that you don't seem to understand that there are choices at all, or that things and people break if you push them far enough, or that there are actually people who care if you get yourself killed being foolish, whether it's 'redeeming' someone who is actively still on the other side of a war or somehow getting mauled by a pastry. I'm tired of it too - not nearly as tired as I am of that new girl you hired, by the way - but nothing's really changed, has it?"

She'll hand over a jar of a lotion that smells rather strongly of citrus. "Twice a day, this under fresh bandages for the next week. It's structurally healed either way, but if there's a scar the next time I work on your leg, I'm going to know you can't follow even that much of an instruction to help yourself, okay? And I'll try to visit Amalthea. I owe Ariel a present, anyways."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Riva's just... Riva. I guess she feels like you're attacking me or something," Psyber says, watching the doctor as she works. He sets the leg down and still has a slight limp to it, but less pronounced than when he walked into the doctor's office, "I'll put Nathan under a counselor later. I need to get to a mission in the immediate future."

He sighs, looking at the jar in his hands that she gave him, "I understand passive choices. Unspoken choices." He admits to her, gripping it tightly. Not hard enough to break it, but out of a nervous use of his hands. He grits his teeth, "Your friendship means a great deal. I don't have much family, so I don't wish to lose the few people I have I could consider as such. Even if family snipes, they try to always come through for eachother. That's why I can't just give up on our friendship."

In all fairness, while he isn't going to take her advice and stay off it for two days, he'll be on-par with keeping it changed and lotioned.

Sakura Haruno (134) has posed:
"I don't care. If she comes at me again like that, I may show her why there are times and places that I've been feared."

But then he talks about family, and that, there, is the right thing to say at last, and it gets Sakura to pause. "..Mm. Fine, then. If you'll do that, if you really want that... I'll come back. But no more lying to me, no more pretending to not care and acting like some kind of emotionless robot, because I can't take that from you. I really can't. Good luck with the mission, and I'll see you in the office."
