Reboot EP11: Power Supply
Date of Scene: 24 April 2015
Location: The Grid <TG>
Synopsis: Mcafee needs power, and the party sets out to cut him off and make him tap out whatever backups he has in place, which will hopefully allow them to finish him off later.
Cast of Characters: Deelel, 626, 631, 673, 686, Corona Arclite
Tinyplot: Reboot

Deelel has posed:
Accessing Archived Data

The plan had been set read only at this point. The Power Control plant was the main target, if they could start to starve Mcafee for power. Kneral had come along to help and make use of his access codes were needed to enact the plan but he wasn't giving those to outsiders. He was going to help them, yes but that's just something you don't give to strangers.

The plant is much like a human power plant it's a towering structure which looks a lot like an oil drilling operation and there's masses of volatile tanks storing liquid energy about the place. The party had made their way in using an sewer access point which had taken a bit and now Deelel is moving the cover off and crawling up and out of the sewers.

"We need to get from here to the control room, he's going to have trapped this place and likely left a small legion of heartless here given what he did at the shipyard."

Deelel notes as she rises up to her feet and then moves for some cover to get a better lay of the land Kneral notes one last thing.

"We need to subvert the local security systems like the camera if we can it should get us a better idea of what's changed here and buy us some time."

Rory White (673) has posed:
"I'll do what I can with the security systems once we come across a terminal!" Rory declares after pulling herself up from the programhole and squirming away weirdly. She only gets up after she's clear of it, since standing up is NOT a strong suit of hers!

Kind of clumsy business, really. As before she's bedecked with support supplies and very few weapons.

While the others are getting ready however, she takes the time to do a few practice swings with her disk. It's quickly put away once everyone's ready to move out!

"If we starve him out though, what about the hostages? ... Not that we can change plans now..."

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite climbs up out of the sewer access after Deelel, which isn't hard to get through quickly with her small slender frame. Once she's up on her feet on the surface she takes a look around. You can almost feel the mood improve in her, despite the dark system that still surrounds them. "Now this is someplace I feel much more at home at."

She reachs for the suffusion rod she had been using as a weapon, but after a moment of listening, changes her mind. "Be careful folks, iffen this does turn into a fight. I can just -hear- the energy churnin in those tanks." Instead she pulls her disc, so she's got something to quickly 'fire' if need be. "No tellin' what they'll do iffen they get hit in a crossfire."

She turns her attention to Rory for a moment. "The idea is that McGaff will come after us quick 'nuff that won't be a problem cause we can rescue them b'fore he does anythin' to 'em."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Nothing to it." Kyra says casually, hefting a real grenade launcher over her shoulder. That's right. It's not even the cure-all. It's a real-ass grenade launcher. "Legion of Heartless? No problem, we'll just blow 'em all away. And if any of those big tanks show up I bet Reker can take them out." Or Reiji but Kyra notices that he and Xiaomu don't seem to be here right now. That's a little troubling, actually.

"Let McAffe come!! We can take him easily!"

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Traveling through the sewers had been an... ordeal, that's for sure. Gakupo's sensibilities are suitably offended. But he's keeping mostly quiet about it, because they need to get where they're going, and this is the only way. The only complaint is the mention of a good long scrub when he gets home, muttered under his breath.

Once they get to the location, he can't climb out of the sewer fast enough. He too finds cover, listening to Deelel and Kernel. "Unfortunately I have no way to scan for traps or hack into the security system," he says quietly. Rory's statement gets his attention. "Ideally I think we're going to be trying to free any prisoners he might have taken. If we get control of the security system we can look for hostages and find out where they are, right?"

Corona's statement gets a nod. "Or that," he observes, with a smirk. As for the hitting of the tanks? A nod. "The one time I'm glad my long-range options are limited." Kyra's confidence is almost infectious. But he does caution, "I don't know about 'easily'. We're on his home turf now. Don't underestimate him."

Reker (631) has posed:
"As long as you guys leave Macaffee to me." Reker says, "I can keep him occupied until you get to the hostages. All I need is time." He rubs his ID disk a bit, "I'll try not to kill him, if I can avoid it. But I can't promise anything, if I need to do it to save myself or the hostages I will."

Deelel has posed:
Kenral notes to Rory.

"Good point, but he thinks he can fix them right now, he would be blaming us for that and focusing on /us/. The location he's holdin them in has it's own power supply but not enough for what he needs. He's very focused on hunting down what he thinks is a virus and gets very null unit about it."

It seems the program knows Mcafee pretty well from the sounds of it. He's heading up shorrly after Corona and the others head up.

"True it is like your system isn't it?"

She notes before she starts to move ahead a bit.

"She's right that stuff could talke out the whole place. This is also why I don't think we'll see anything more than heartless here."

Deelel mused how imporant the people who'd been helping her had started to become, very imporant to her. They'd not asked for anything in return for their help.

"I forgot to mention something Reiji and Xiaomu are heading up another objective elsewhere in the city, while we carry this out we'll draw heat off them."

She notes before she presses on a bit more at this point.

"They are not here, we're just slowing down his plans for them, and getting his attention. They are being held in another part of the system that generally only the users and system admin can make use of." Kernal adds in gruffly as the band moves ahead. Rory might get some sense of local analogs to Wireless signal which she could try to get to work on the Cameras as the party makes for the main section of the complex.

"The control room is this way."

Deelel says just as golden eyes start to appear in the shadows and takes shape into the shadowy forms of heartless that the group here have come to know pretty well.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite ahehehes at the question about her 'system'. "Yeah, this is similar. My home sector is a large part of the system's industrial and maintenance center." Hey, it's not lying, its just putting it into terms the Program would understand. "With the data you've given us, plus yer help with the security and Rory there just bein' good with code in general, we oughta have no problem gettin this takin' care of quickly.."

She pauses, frowning as the gold eyes start popping up in the shadows. Fingers retighten the grip on her disc, but she just keeps walking for now. "Be ready. We already got company." But the farther they go without stopping to fight, the less time it will take, so she keeps moving for the moment.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"So like I said earlier. Easy. Especially if McAffe won't show." Though there is a hint of worry to Kyra's musing. Would Xiaomu and Reiji be alright if they had to take on McAffe alone?

Yellow eyes start to show up, perhaps predictably, and Kyra pulls out another gun, this one a normal-looking handgun. In these close quarters, she didn't want to start launching grenades. A normal gun would do, should any of them come close. Kyra keeps moving otherwise.

Rory White (673) has posed:
"Strange... what's this now?" Rory halts upon picking up the 'wireless' access point. She goes utterly still and quiet while working on establishing a connection and feeling out this strange new interface. Fascinating infosphere experiences are interesting no matter where you find them!

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo has wireless capabilities, but he doesn't have any way to make use of them currently. So he's got his wifi connections blocked, so Mcaffee can't use that to track them. He just follows the group, left hand on his sword sheath in case that meet anything. And sure enough, the shadows begin to gaze back at the group with glowing yellow eyes. Gakupo's azure eyes narrow and he draws his sword, turning to meet the forming threat.

When Rory goes still, though, Gakupo moves to stand at her side without a word. He wants to make sure the Heartless don't attack her while she's trying to do her thing with the wireless signals. "Be careful," he cautions Rory. "You might be able to establish a connection, but Mcaffee might be able to track us by that connection."

Deelel has posed:
Deelel says "Right, lets keep moving shall we?"

Deelel is pulling the disc off her back at this point and it snap hisses to life, she notices the others making their own weapons ready. Goo it was very likely they would need to handle the heartless which are starting to move in even as Corona bring up a bit about home. Deelel's impressed she's not lying and adapting thing to far more local concepts.

Deelel looks to Kyra for a moment as she looks to them for a moment and nods a bit, she's got to have faith in the two Shinra Operatives that they can do what they need to do to get things done she keeps close to Kyra as they make for the central complex. Bolting for it would likely get the heartless to attack them.

Gakupo brings up a good point even as Rory gets to work the security is pretty good here, but it's not beyond Rory's ability to handle thing. She's more like an admin program or something far older and more primal to this world. So far nothing happens as Rory pokes the system.

The party would reach the entrance to the central control area and that's when the heartless start to swarm. Deelel's disc is the first to lash out, and it seems Kernal has his rod ready and starts to shoot the incoming heartless.

"Don't just stand there! Move we press for the control centre!"

Corona Arclite has posed:
"I swear, these varmints are more persistant than rockroaches!", Corona complains as she flings her disc into the swarm of heartless as well, leaving her companions to wonder if 'rockroaches' is a mispronounciation due to her being worked up, or actually some sort of rock like critter on Brimsteel.

Not that she leaves any time for anyone to ask her. The vixen prefers to be on the move in a fight, so by the time the disc comes zinging back to her she's already running into the fray. She catchs it in one hand, and as she's twisting her body to absorb the momentum she uses the movement to grab her tech-hammer from her waist and slam that into another heartless's face equivilent, making no waste of time trying to move through the crowd.

"We gotta get inside, it'll be easy to hold them back while we work iffen we turn the entrances into choke points!"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Whoah, don't run ahead to melee too much!" Kyra warns, slipping away her gun in favor of the grenade launcher she brought in with her. Knowing that they definitely ARE going to rush into melee range, Kyra is quick to aim a shot down the entrance corridor to just clear it out of Heartless and hit them while she can. With this group she knows she doesn't have much wiggle room as far as avoiding friendly fire went.

    Especially with grenade launchers.

Once the grenade has exploded, then Kyra calls out, "Rush them at will! Go go go!"

Reker (631) has posed:
Normally Reker would use the weapons native to this world, to help blend in. But there's no need to blend in this case. So he opens up his menu and switches his loadout, the Devastator HCAR appearing on his back, next to his ID disk. He pulls his brand new big gun off of his back and checks the ammo type. Muzzle is glowing orange, that means explosive rounds. Excellent.

He brings the weapon up to his shoulder and fires into the crowd of Heartless, the explosive shells doing their best to tear the little monsters apart with each shot.

Rory White (673) has posed:
Rory continues to be simultaneously amazed and frustrated at the ease with which she manages to navigate the local code. But there's a good reason she has the unusual blue circuit glow indeed. Both her hands clap together happily! "don't worry. I'm keeping the transmission range short. Unless he's actively monitoring the system...." Well, she can hope that nothing happens.

Once she has a connection established, Rory seems able to get back to actually walking - but she sticks close to Gakupo nonetheless. The Digi-samurai's presence is comforting.

ESPECIALLY when Heartless make their appearance.

By now a second thread's hard at work on the security systems, hoping to subvert the cameras. Her main one, on the other hand...

Rory draws her disk and activates KILL MODE. The edges energize and she adopts a simple combat stance. It's very basic for balance but will help her move if Gakupo falters.

"I have your back!" Is her statement to her guardian. "Hopefully!"

She -has- been practicing in Simulspace between these encounters. A Shadow or two will be no problem! ... ten would be though...

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo draws his sword as the Heartless begin to swarm. He does not immediately charge into their numbers, however. He stays near Rory so that he can act as forward guard for her. He stands between Rory and the Heartless, trying to keep the rest of the party on Rory's other side. More than one set of eyes is good here, and hopefully the rest of the party will be able to watch Rory's-- and his-- back.

Rockroach or cockroach... they're probably similar things. So Gakupo replies back, "And probably just as brainless!" Seriously, these things advance and advance, and there's generally no tactics to speak of other than 'Get'um'. As for Corona's plan? Gakupo nods. "Good idea!" He's still covering Rory, don't worry. Heartless that come to close will generally find themselves sliced into-- and probably sliced open-- by the blade he holds.

Rory's sudden attack on the Heartless surprises him, but he smiles. In response to her words, he replies, "Right. Do your best. Let's get where we need to be."

Deelel has posed:
Deelel gets her disc flying somer more as she moves to Corona to cover them as she hopefully makes a push to get in.

"Get in go your going to be one of the ones needed to work on this once we get in!"

She keeps tossing the disc and the heartless keep coming, she gets their tactics. They only need to get you good once, and they well? so far as she knows without a certain weapon they will be back.

Reker meanwhile is just cutting them down and they keep popping into puffs of smoke as the group starts to press in, Rory's working hard and soon she'll have control of the camera and will fion th4ere's some paths inside with heartless to the command center and others that do not but the cameras in the command center itself are physically non operational.

Gakupo and Kyra contiune give hteir effors with her grenade? That really will give people the opening they need to get in and Gakupo as ever is the solid up close support that has got the party through quite a bit already.

With Rory's guidance they will find themsevles inside the complex it's clean empty and thankfully there are no ID discs littered about. Kernal takes point and is pressing ahead only changing which way he's going should Rory gives them a heads up, the idea to work choke points is a good one as Deelel is one of the last to follow as she's making use of those locations to trip the heartless up good.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite is probably one of the people you don't have to worry too much about friendly fire -- she doesn't stay still long enough to caught in it! In fact she's actually using her swings to knock Heartless towards the fire from others, so she doesn't have to slow down herself. Bigger things to worry about that picking off the little pests trying to get in their way.

"Sorry Kernel, but Ah reckon we ain't got time for fancy accesses, we gotta get inside -now-."

To which, she just slams her hammer into the door of the command room.

It's her typical way of 'knocking'.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Sticking to the behind seems to be the order of business of Kyra, her weaponry lending to the back row strategy pretty well. That, at the very least, seems to have blown away a good chunk of the Heartless legion before them! As they start to close, however, Kyra switches back to her regular gun. Anything that happens to get by the others, which isn't much at all, is picked off by the white mage packing heat.

She settles in with Deelel once they're inside to help her set up the chokepoint.

Rory White (673) has posed:
SO MUCH CHAOS! But a few Shadows down and Rory's moving everyone into the complex. "These systems are so different from what I'm used to. Apologies if I'm a little slow." She's also not used to having to be all HACKTIVIST at every other corner...

But onward the group goes. Rory's using her maps and cameras to check ahead and make sure there's no surprises around corners whenever possible. "Already on it! So far so good!"

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo's also helping to set up that choke point once they get to where it's going to be set up. Long-range weapons are important to keep the Heartless from getting close. But if they do, they'll need a melee fighter to take them out. Once Rory's safe, he moves to take up position as melee fighter for the choke point.

Reker (631) has posed:
Things were getting pretty crazy pretty quick, and Reker was doing his best to take out all of the Heartless that he could as he marched his way through towards the control room.

"Do we have any idea where the hell Macaffee is yet?!" He calls out to the rest of the group, trying to see if anyone's pinpointed him yet.

Deelel has posed:
Corona blows the door into cubes with the force of her attack there are cubes going everywhere. Kernal just gives Corona a look, but he does not say a word on the subject. She's right now is not the time to waste time. He barrles in after her making sure to sweep the room, there are few heart less but they are cut down rapidly. At this point soon people are piling in and thanks to Kyra Deelel the door seems covered for the moment. Gakupo is making sure to aid Kyra and Deelel at teh choke point, between them they should be able to keep the heartless at bay.

"I don't think we'll flush him out. Reiji Xiaomu seem to have his attention with what they are doing, but keep alert if he does show up we need to know!"

Speaking of things as Rory's now got Kneral punching in access commands allowing her further access, it might take a bit but she should be able to start taking over the complex's systems now. It may just take a bit however something is happening under Deelel's feet there's grate and something slams through it and wraps about her leg. A moment later this seemingly formless thing surges into the hall way and glares at everyone with two beady yellow eyes, looking like some sort of digital heartless Hydra and it seems to be doing something to Deelel as she' dragged away as she's screening, Kernal seem to stagger for a moment, Rory and Gakupo might feel /something/ is trying to eat away at their power supplies.

The Beast seems to be pulling Deelel towards it's torso while it's heads and mecha like tentacles are lashing out, focusing on trying to get Kyra and Gakupo most notably, Corona would also soon too get it's attention. Kernal meanwhile moves to cover Rory.

"User Error it! That's the hunter seeker Mcafee uses!"

It's also attempting to get at Reker but he's got a chance to some damage. And it almost seems to be trying to /capture/ Deelel or wait? Is it meaning to use her as a battery?!

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite says, "Great, just great. Things just goin' to null in the waste basket!" Seems like Corona picked up a couple of more local linguistics while she was working with Alpha and his assistants, which she now uses to express her annoyance at the newest obstacle to start working. "Just don't let it get t' Rory," she grumbles over her shoulder to Kernel.

And then. Well. It's a good thing she brought her normal gear with her as well. Corona clenches her hands into fists as she darts from her spot, flares of energy emerging from the backs of her gloves as the Arclite Cutters activate. The vixen uses her nimble speed to juke and hop around the other tendrals, slicing a few away before diving towards the one grappling with Deelel and trying to cut her free with the plasma torches. "Let her go, ya overgrown garder snake!""

Reker (631) has posed:
"Hey, asshole! That's our Deelel!" Reker yells out as the monster comes storming in and grabs Deelel. He can't shoot because he'll risk hitting her, so he stores his rifle back onto his back and then pulls out the staff again.

Keeping the staff in his left hand, he grabs his disk and throws it out, trying to hit the beast in the tendril that's holding Deelel, and give himself time to close the gap and really get to work on hitting the beast.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"HIS WHAT NOW?!" Kyra screams as this new monster appears, much larger and much more /different/ than the Heartless. It's already got Deelel and as Kyra switches from her small gun to her grenade launcher, it grabs ahold of her too. She shrieks again and starts to flail, swinging the grenade launcher around to point down at it.

Kyra doesn't care about close quarters now. It's got /tentacles/, all bets are off. OFF! "PUT ME DOWN!"

Rory White (673) has posed:
"What--" Rory's much happier to be operating her controls differently. Now that she has established cameras and maps her own perspective has gone to RTS mode. Seeing through the eyes of the camera and letting her body's controls switch over to AI temporarily, she suddenly gains a hell of a lot more freedom to act.

"Cube it or contain it!" Rory orders. "We can't have that thing roaming - DEELEL!" Now that they're somewhere with some cover, Rory dives behind a console.

Meanwhile, her connection hits new levels of access thanks to Kernel! She immediately sets about checking all of the local resources. Not just hunting for the controls to initiate a full system reboot and gain root access, but checking if there's any security systems that might aid her allies! "There must be SOMETHING!"

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Things are going good... and then suddenly something comes up out of the floor and grabs Deelel. Gakupo's eyes widen. "What is THAT?!" he calls out. And then he feels the drain on his power... or at least something's trying. He can't leap to Deelel and Kyra's rescue just yet, though. Mainly because he has one of those tendrils trying to grab for him!

Gakupo bares his teeth and slices at the tendril when it comes close to him, dodging to the side to try and avoid being grabbed by the thing. Hopefully the vibrating that swinging the sword creates in the blade will be enough to cut through it. Or at least encourage it to find its power elsewhere.

Deelel has posed:
Deelel is being dragged off and this thing is clearly draing her of power. Given how basics are? This thing could help to explain how Mcafee was able to get so many people, so quickly. Deelel thankfully wasn't low on energy when this started so she's not in any danger well fore the moment of being drained dry. She's struggling but she's having a lot of problem as the thing is pulling her towards it. However she's got some good friends here who are hot on the job to get her free as Corona dives in to hack some of what's holding Deelel free, Renker is doing some pretty good use of his disc to add to that. It's more focused on Deelel, Rory, Gakupo and the Kernal right now. For it's trying to power sap them, the users here? Well it can't really do jack to them with that.

"Hunter Seeker, I thought we took that thing out for good at the Admin Tower!"

Kernal calls ou to Kyra before he starts shooting at it.

Thankfully DEelel is freed by the combined efforts of the others.

Rory might fin she can get to work on the reboot with the access she's got and Kernal was able to issue his own command for it as well.

Meanwhile Rory is looking for sometrhing this things feeds on energy right? How much could that thing /take/ at once?

Gakupo meanwhile would find Deelel is falling ot the ground hard and she's not getting up, for the moment. Kyra still seems to be held but the thing seems confused with her. Something's not right? It's almost going hey where's the creme filling. Gakupo's own effort do quite a bit of damage it shouldn't be an issue to get Kyra free now.

The Hunter Seeker bellows and attemps to employr more tentalce again to recapture Deelel and the others. It is however clearly hurt from athe attacks it's taken so far...but how much more could it take.

Corona Arclite has posed:
As Reker finishes severing the tendril Corona yanks Deelel back out of the way, shoving her back out of the way. "Get her outta its reach!" Sure enough, it seems like the thing is trying to reach for Dee again and only bothering with her because she's in the way.

However, the conversation over the radio makes her smirk a bit. "Oh, a bit hungry, are y'all."

She reachs back and yanks the Forge Sweeper from it's sling, flipping it around to grab the pump action as she does so, and then flipping it back into a proper grip as it charges up fromt he activation.

As soon as one of the heads try to lung at Deelel the sawed-off gets shoved in its mouth instead. "Have a taste of this!" And Corona pulls the trigger, opening fire with the weapon right down it's gullet! Seeing as plasma isn't a normal thing around here, she's hoping the massive energy discharge will overpower the thing's ability to absorb energy and do some serious damage from the inside.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Not being a Program herself, Kyra's likely incompatable with the Hunter Seeker's algorthyms. She doesn't realize this herself, especially since the girl is brimming with MP that could be drained (and has, on occasion, in the past) but it goes completely untouched. Though she's trapped by it right now, it doesn't seem to be hurting her like it was Deelel.

Instead it leaves her kind of annoyed, especially at being stuck on the 'ride'. Wriggling around, she manages to half aim her grenade launcher at it. It being, well, a grenade launcher, precise aim isn't exactly needed THAT much!

Rory White (673) has posed:
"So far everything's going to plan. But it's meaningless if this thing is still free!" Rory checks what sorts of controls she has for the power in this and nearby rooms. If she could cause a surge at an opportune moment... an overload might be possible.

For now though, she's establishing root access and reconfiguring the permissions to lock out pretty much EVERYONE else and re-initializing all of the custom settings with blazing speed. The whole station will soon be completely under their control!

She pauses only briefly when things get CRAZY and tendrils hunt around. That is... she emerges from cover briefly to SMACK one with her disk. "HAH!"

And apparently yell for completely unnecessary emphasis.

Maybe the others are rubbing off on her.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo has to split his attention a lot of ways. There are tendrils coming after him, Rory-- who is a high priority target, since she's doing stuff at a console-- Kernel, and Kyra. He can't leave Rory especially unprotected! But Deelel is down, it looks like, and he can't get to her. "Someone get to Deelel! I'm pinned down at the moment!" he calls.

Perhaps just as an expression of his frustration with the digital beast, he emits a sonic blast at the thing's main body. The vibrations probably hurt, and since it's traveling the speed of sound, it's probably just painful anyway. That's just a lot of pain.

Reker (631) has posed:
Reker catches the disk as it comes flying back to him, and then breaks the staff in half, rushing the rest of the distance between himself and the Seeker. He strikes out at the tendril going for Deelel again, "No way big boy, you've got more to worry about!"

He starts to jab and smash at it with those sticks, knowing they're designed to fight the locals, so it should work more effectively. Combined with Corona's huge shotgun assault and they might be able to bring this thing down and keep Deelel safe.

Deelel has posed:
Thsoe who are notr programs are starting to figure out they got an edge against this thing using it's sapper on them. Deelel is not as lucky but she's now in fairly good hand as Corona starts firing down the things' gullet iut doesn't know how to handle the plasma an it lets out a howl, it's trying to absorbe it and it seems to be doing all right for now but how much can it take? Still it just tanked a lot of energy and it seems to be doing something to it. Meanwhile Kyra has well set the hunter seeker up the bomb. It explodes and Kyra is thrown clear of it, but the landing could be a bit on the painful side. Hopefully with Rory's plan to lure it? Deelel hears the plan she calls out weakly.

"Rory's right... over feed it..."

Kernal meanwhile is doing his best to not get brought noow and well? Reker's own assault is able to hurt it pretty badly it might not need Rory's plan then again it's injured pretty badly and how to things heal on the grid? Repairing one's code and energy really. So we could say it just got really hungry, if they are going to lure it now would be the time as it starets to look about for a better source of power. Rekers' and Kamui's blows strike home and it now tries to flee, now would be the time to heard it and follow up Rory's plan if they were going to do so.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
"Go! I'll buy some time!" Gakupo replies. And he faces the thing, charging directly at it, sword pointed downward in preparation to strike. He tries to get past the tendrils as much as he can, aiming to make a diagonal upwards slash. He's not trying to get caught by the thing, but he has decreased his effective dodging range, if the thing comes after him again.

But there's a purpose for this admittedly rather foolish course of action. He's trying to distract it long enough for the others to get where they need to go and for Rory to set up the surge. He just needs to distrac tthis thing for a few moments. He hopes.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Afterwards Corona actually passes the plasma shotgun to Deelel. "Use that to keep it away from ya. It won't drain yer own energy to use.... I want it back afterwards though." She winks at Dee with that, then turns back to the matter at hand.

"It's okay, Rory." She reachs up with one hand to pull her normal brass goggles, rather than the Grid visor, up over her eyes. Because it's freakin' go time. "I'm good at makin' punks that don't wanna move, move."

The other hand grabs the Corona Breaker, and extends it to full size. Though she doesn't actually fire up the energy charge this time, just grips it in both hands.

After Gakupo makes his move with the slashes, she steps in to follow up and maybe also help get him some extra time to get out of the way. "Back where I come from, we have a sayin' for times like this..."

She heaves the sledgehammer at the Seeker's center of body mass, trying to use that the other's attacks are already disorganizing it to knock it into the room Rory indicated.

"BACK THE FUCK UP!"

Rory White (673) has posed:
"VERY good." Rory chimes, showing an inspiring smile. She might just be getting more expressive from all the recent action!

    A little.

"I can't get too close to this thing. Whatever it's doing is disruptive to Deelel's processes!" And hers have not been immune to it either. "It's an effective weapon against anything native to the Grid..."

    But therein lies the weakness!

Switching her perceptions back to overhead view, Rory starts tailing after the thing while mapping out systems over the wireless. All she needs to do is wait until the thing gets near some kind of unnecessary console or powered system and trigger an OVERLOAD!

Preferably when someone else has it stunned...

In preparation, she starts putting too much power through several such systems in the thing's path to see if it will home in on that!

Reker (631) has posed:
Overcharge it? Reker can do that. He jumps back away from the creature and pulls his rifle out again, switching the ammo to the electical based stun rounds. Once he has the weapon set up he starts to fire, emptying the magazine into the creature.

Against a human target this would be non-lethal, but the energy discharge should help overload it.

Deelel has posed:
Sometimes you need to dare to be stupid, and that's what Gakupo does. he moves to strike the beast and it's quite a good hit it roars and now it's really trying to keep it busy which he does. Deelel takes the shotgun and nods a little bit to Corona. She's strong enough to use the weapon and arms it.

"Maybe I'll keep it!"

She quips at her. All the while now they are luring the room Rory is setting it up. Gakupo has timed things, very well as the best passes an console that's currently not in use it seemed to be just a maintenance access panel. It was going to just pass it by till Reker fires off his shots. They stun the construct, giving Rory the time she needs to make the console overload. The thing explodes causing cubes to rain everything but the power? Well that thing just starts absorbing power and since it's now tapped into the system's power grid? It's taking a drink from the fire hose. It lets out cry as it absorb more power. It inflates like an overfilled water balloon until it can hold no more. It lets out a strangled cry and then explodes. The hallway is then buried in a shower of voxels, that leaves Deelel partially buried, her expression rapidly becomes one of what the heck just happened. She's also still clutching the rifle.

"Rory, engage the shutdown and reset to default configuration then put it into sleep mode!"

Comes the Gruff voice of the Kernal. Who seems to be leaning on a console he's not doing to well either.

"We need to get some energy and fast."

He does not voice he noticed half the programs here walked off the effect of the Hunter Seeker. However whatever he suspects about them he's going to keep his trap shut. Still if they are what he suspects? Well call him a Mac, they are not usless.

Corona Arclite has posed:
In the last clicks it has the Hunter Seeker might catch a glimps of Corona pointing at it. "You, mouse." Then at the overloading console. "That? Better mouse trap."

And then she turns and fast walks back towards the others. Because the cool kids always walk away from explosions without looking, digital or otherwise. "If this doesn't get that broken circuit's attention, nuttin' will."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Yep, Kyra's completely walking off the effect of the Hunter Seeker. She doesn't look drained at all as she rejoins everyone. "Thanks for the assist there." she says conversationally, setting the grenade launcher back behind her. Comparing her to Deelel right now is pretty stark. Maybe, though, maybe Kyra didn't fit the same format and was thus incompatable with the hunter seeker?

Oh well. Some programs are from PCs and some are from Macs.

"Let's go, then, and get Dee some energy." Kyra says, sounding concerned. Energy drain isn't something her healing could normally deal with. MP replenishment happened other ways and Kyra figured this wasn't that different.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
The thing explodes into the pixellated things that denote something has been destroyed, and Gakupo breathes a sigh of relief. Good, that's one less problem to deal with. But it might have attracted some attention, so even though the thing is gone, Gakupo's not going to relax just yet. His sword remains in-hand, just in case.

He snickers at Corona's statement. "Mice don't explode. Thankfully." Sigh. "Good job, everybody. And thanks for the save." He wouldn't have survived too much longer in melee with that thing, and he knows it.

Gakupo has not so much 'shrugged off' the drain. He feels it, but his generator is beginning to recharge him. Enough that he can help out a little, maybe. He raises a hand up to his headset, and a tiny panel slides aside. Then he reaches into the small port and pulls out a cord.

He offers this cord, looking to Deelel and Kernal. "Here... can either of you use this?" he asks. The other end probably has some form of USB connector on it. Yes, he can charge phones on his generator.

Rory White (673) has posed:
A maintenance access panel is perfect. OVERLOAD!

    And the beast goes KABOOOOOOOOM!

The entire process leaves Rory momentarily stunned with awe and disbelief. That crazy plan WORKED. She hurriedly resets the facility's config as requested and puts it into a low-power standby...

"That... was... exhilarating!" Also terrifying. But telling the difference isn't always easy!

"WONDERFUL teamwork, everyone! We have the facility under our control and are down one top-priority threat!"

Deelel has posed:
Deelel is not looking so hot, and she seem to agree with Kyra's bit she takes the plug and attemps to figure out how to use the offered power jack. Kernal isn't even qiestioning this later. Even if it doesn't work it is worth a shot but whatever happens they have to move out now once the sleep mode and lockdown is finished.
