Cast of Characters: 20, 188, 772

Hiei (772) has posed:
Hiei arrives by gate in the middle of the day, standing on a large rock with his hands behind his back. He looks completely calm, almost bored as he waits for Toph to arrive. Though he does turn his head up when he notices the dragons flying overhead. That seems interesting, at least.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
It does take a few minutes, but eventually the Union representative arrives. In the distance, a young girl approaches, clad in tones of yellow and green. Her steps are slow but steady, accompanied by the soft 'thud' of a walking stick as it connects with the ground. When the girl arrives, it's clear that she's taller than Hiei, but not by much. At five feet tall she isn't an impressive sight as she leans on her walking stick, turning her head slightly to and fro as she seems to be listening for something. And she will continue walking, hitting the walking stick against some rocks. "Hello...?"

Oh yes. If this guy is going to underestimate her, why not give him something to work with?

Hiei (772) has posed:
"So you're the little blind girl I was told about." Hiei states, but he isn't, well... very nice. Underestimation or otherwise, he immediately starts running across the field with a blistering amount of speed. One -with- sight would probably not even be able to see this movement very well, if at all, which would make responding to it difficult. But he draws his sword out of no where, and instantly slashes it at her stomach, trying to straight up cut her in half.

He was serious about the murder thing.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Upon hearing Hiei's voice Toph turns her head, putting on a surprised look. "Oh! There you are! You heard about me?" she asks, her tone curious. Though when he starts running at her, it's tough to keep herself from revealing just how much he 'sees'. Man, he's /fast/!

As the sword is drawn the walking stick is let go of as she throws it towards Hiei's face. It's not going to hurt much, but it might serve as a distraction even as he swings his sword and she continues the motion with her arm and steps forward and to the side, perhaps faster than he anticipated she would.

Just as his sword slashes out at Toph's side, the earth in front of Hiei moves.

And an earthen spike shoots up, aiming straight for his abdomen with the intent of knocking him back. Toph herself winces even as the metal slices through her skin, drawing blood, but her movement saved herself from being sliced in two. "... who are you calling little?" she demands, her expression turning more serious. "You are shorter than me!"

Hiei (772) has posed:
Hiei shifts slightly to the side, but the spike still rips at his clothing and slices through his side, causing him to stop and look down at it. "I see. A blind person who sees more than she seems to. Just like one of the Three Kings. Which means you're going to be far more formidable than I could have expeced."

He sounds as if he knows of someone similar to her, as if suddenly he expects her blindness to somehow be an advantage. "I won't be foolish enough to fight you like this, then." He reaches for his top and pulls it off, tossing it to the side. Leaving him in pants but no shirt. Then he reaches up to remove his white headband, suddenly opening up his large, purple third eye. "We'll know who sees more by the end of this."

He goes running at her again, with just as much speed, but this time he shifts in a sudden burst of speed to try and appear behind her and slash at her back. It's clear that all of his attacks are kill strikes, and he seems even more aggressive now than before.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
So it seems that this guy gets the idea that he's underestimated her. "I have no idea which kings you are prattling about, but I don't care, nor do I compare myself to others," the young girl declares.

"I am Toph Beifong, the greatest earthbender of all time. And you're not getting the Rookery from the Union!" There's no doubt, no uncertainty in her words, and she might be hurt... but she isn't about to back down, it looks like.

Whatever he is doing, it's hard to tell. But Toph is alert, waiting and listening to what is going on. The sudden rush towards her, and then his attempt to slash at her from behind doesn't go so well as she twists her heel slightly, whirling up dust around them. For her it won't affect her sight, but for him it might make it a little harder. And as she twists her heel she turns, and this time the blade only grazes her, barely drawing blood as she lashes out with her left hand. And the earth underneath him moves, aiming to throw him back as the earth flips. To make it even 'better', Toph gestures with her hand again, and an earthen wall rises up. If she is successful in throwing him through the air, it's bound to hurt if he crashes into that wall.

Hiei (772) has posed:
"Earthbender. Some sort of person who controls the Earth with their mind, or perhaps magic." Hiei observes, right before he gets pushed up into the air. he tries to plan his next move, which is difficult when he has to cover his eyes. Which stalls just long enough for him to slam into that wall.

When he falls back down, he groans, and carefully sits up to one knee. Though realization dawns on him, and he very quickly stands again, looking around at the ground on high alert. "Rocks, dirt, it doesn't seem to be a particular type." He stares down at his sword, then looks up at her. "You're playing with me. I should be offended." He takes his sword, then just suddenly tosses it at the tower, until it sticks out of the side, far away from the battle.

That's when he speeds forward, and starts hurling a flurry of punches at her, his combat style suddenly changing out of the blue.

Lute (188) has posed:
There is a small object, floating in the sky. A single, solitary Unown representing the letter 'O'. It stares down at the battlefield, unblinking.

Lute, meanwhile, is at home, eating some popcorn as he watches through the eye of the Unown.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Gee, you deserve a gold medal for that one. Did you figure that out all by yourself?" Toph asks with a deadpan look on her face. Though she doesn't charge at him immediately when he slams into the wall.

As for being offended? Toph stands in a ready stance, arms held in front of her. "I think you're bloodthirsty enough for the two of us. I'm here to defend the Rookery, not to kill you." Which is true. This guy could really do some serious damage if he got a hold of a dragon. Especially if he wants it to eat people. "I'd give you the chance to walk away now, but I guess you're the type who would just be pissed off at that, huh?" she asks.

Again he speeds forward, and Toph feels the vibrations from every step he takes, calculating his movements, 'seeing' how he raises his hands, and even before he has finished the movements she's reacting.

Just like he punches out at her several times, Toph too moves her hands, and she only needs small movements in order to do what she has in mind. Lashing out with her hands, Toph enters a combo of her own as she strikes. For every punch he throws, she sends earthen spikes at Hiei from the ground between him, aiming to block his strikes. Though her speed isn't quite on his level, so she is unsuccessful in blocking them all. One of them strikes her in the chest, and another grazes her arm as she moves forward, raising her foot to erect a thick earthen pillar behind her. With that she leans forward, throwing both arms forward in a split palm attack as a huge rock is sent flying out from the pillar behind her, aimed straight at Hiei.

Hiei (772) has posed:
Hiei does successfully dodge a few of the spikes, but one sticks directly into his ribs, and then the massive rock comes flying at him and smacks him directly in the, well, body, and sends the spike the rest of the way through him.

He has to push the rock off when he hits the ground, and when he stands up, he reaches for the spike sticking out of him, wincing as he just pulls the entire thing out, leaving a hole in his body with a bit of blood dripping from it. "Do you think I'd walk away from a fight where my sword is potentially useless to me? This sort of challenge doesn't present itself every day. No, you're an opponent who deserves far more respect than some lowly arrogant hero, or some barbarian with a club and a dream."

"Fist of the Mortal Flame!" He holds his hands up, and both are suddenly covered in fire, normal, non-magical fire. It's been summoned from somewhere else. Then he starts running at her, thrusting one of his fists out to send a flamethrower-like torrent of flames in her direction.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
At the sudden praise Toph arches an eyebrow. Did this guy just go from 'I want a cool dragon to eat people' to 'I want to fight you for the sake of fighting you'? It does sound slightly creepy, and Toph lets out a huff, not saying anything for now. Focus on the fight, not on the prattling. So he thinks a sword is useless compared to his fists? Just what kind of secrets is he hiding?

The answer comes not as he cries out and holds his hands up, but when he throws his arms forward and fire strikes her. It's too quick for her to dodge, and Toph cries out as she's struck, fire dancing across her arms and torso. Immediately she throws her arms up, and the ground around her seems to turn into dust and sand that is thrown up, raining down around her. Sure, it's one hell of a mess, but that quick thinking did stop the fire from spreading further and doing even more damage. Which should be easy to see as she is indeed burnt in places, her arms and part of her face red.

"Ugh, it /had/ to be fire," she mutters, biting her teeth together as she ignores the pain and raises her arms, causing the area around them to quake! Between them a huge pillar rises from the ground, and Toph throws her arm forward in a punch, sending the pillar topling over towards Hiei!

Hiei (772) has posed:
Hiei was about to start running for her again. Though his movements are suffering due to Hole In Body Syndrome, and it's very difficult to get used to the unnatural movements of bending. So when that tall pillar rises, he's not -quite- sure what to make of it. And by the time it quickly falls over to him, he doesn't have much time to react. No sword to cut through it, and when he tries to run out of the way, his wound suddenly strikes him with a sharp pain.

So he finds himself smashed into the ground, groaning under rock. He doesn't escape until a small portion of the rock turns orange, then just sort of melts around him. But when he stands, he's holding his side, and wobbles out to her. He smiles, mouth dripping blood. "Before I leave this place to you, just let me ask you one question. Was I right in my assumption that you could have possibly stabbed me with my own sword using the trace bits of earth inside of it? I'll feel incredibly foolish for throwing it away if the answer was no." He coughs a bit more blood up, though is oddly not dead like a human would be from all of this.

"I've enjoyed fighting you, but your power far outclasses mine. I can't do anything on the scale that you've done today. The most I could do is possibly try to kill you when you aren't paying attention, which, given your unique advantage of lacking sight, would be quite difficult." He seems to be conceding, then leans against the broken pillar for a bit of support.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
    Timber!

It seems that the guy is less quick now with some injuries slowing him down, and Toph lets out a breath as she feels her opponent fall to the ground underneath the pillar. Okay, he's still breathing, that's good. It's not like /she/ was out to kill anybody. Carefully she steps closer, though the moment she feels the rock melt around him, she blinks and raises her hands in front of her torso, ready to react. When he's wobbling towards her though, she doesn't strike out.

    He's... surrendering?

Toph does look like she's not completely buying it, an incredulous look on her face as he poses his question. He's... not stupid, is he? "Just because I could have done so doesn't mean I would have done it," she settles for, then lowers her arms. "You should get back to the Citadel before you lose more blood."

With that the blind girl simply turns and begins heading off. She should get back to Njorun herself to get her burns treated, as they are already starting to sting and ache.

Hiei (772) has posed:
"An interesting fighter indeed. You've given me a gift far greater than a dragon." Hiei soon jumps into the air, apparently still quite mobile, even if he is hurt. Then pulls the sword from the side of the tower. "Until next time."
