Synopsis: Following the battle at the Caverns of Prophecy (seen here) Sarah Rogers is recovering at Njorun Station's medical center. She is attended by Frederica and briefly visited by her semi-half-brother James Rogers.
Cast of Characters: 73, 796, 802

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah's lying in in a hospital bed, a stoic look in her face that tries to hide the amount of pain. Her head's bandaged, Her midsection is bandaged, and her right thigh looks like it may have had some minor surgery. She occasionally plays with the in room video screen, trying to get the thing to connect to something outside the medical center, like online games! Fortunately her Union comlink is still working, which gives her cause to crack a smile every now and then.

Frederica (73) has posed:
It would be easy to mistake Frederica for another of the nurses that come and go, because... well, she is one. Not an actual educated nurse but a trained and registered field medic with all the right permissions and authorizations to enter most areas of Medical and deliver what assistance the properly educated people need. For over a year this was almost exclusively cleaning and bandaging the patients, or feeding them... which might explain the girl's almost-sharp almost-rebuke earlier on the radio.

It's not until she speaks that Sarah might realize who her newest visitor is. "Well, good evening Miss Rogers. And how are we feeling today?" she says, perhaps smirking JUST a little at the too-pat words.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Frederica's voice may sound a little familiar to Sarah, but it's always been over the radio, and she's got Nurse Lingo down perfectly. So naturally that's what she assumes the other girl is. "I'm sorry.. I've been terrible." She croaks, "I know I'm a terrible patient. I've never been in the hospital before! I'll try to be nicer! I Promise!" She pauses and takes a pained breath. "Honestly? It hurts.. all over. But other than that I'm doing okay I guess?"

Frederica (73) has posed:
Frederica laughs at Sarah's distress, something which no real nurse ought to do. The laugh isn't entirely unkind, but it's still there. The psychic girl reaches out, putting her hand on Sarah's gently. "We understand, BabyCap." she says, not moving to take her hand away. "I can't do much about the pain. My healing doesn't work that way, though there's medication you can get for that. But I can increase your body's natural healing rate. If ... well, if I can make it work. If not, we just sit here a short time and have a pleasant talk, okay? I promise, I've never set a patient on fire yet." Frederica claims cheerily.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James walks into the room Sarah was assigned carrying a pair of bags. Concern for her is clearly showing on his face. "Sis, I brought you some entertainment and some..." he says and then mock whispers as he adds "...contraband."

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"Babycap!?" Sarah repeats in surprise, sitting up in bed and apparently oblivious to the pain it causes, "Who told you..?" She winces as the cost of the quick movement hits. "You're Frederica!" She's both surprised and thrilled, She honestly wasn't expecting a visitor! "Hi!" She grins and settles back down.. slowly. "Thank you for coming, I'd be happy for just the company, and if you *do* set me on fire, I doubt I'll notice it on top of everything else." She states the last part flatly, "You were kidding about that, right?"

Oh wow, another visitor, and this one's family, from a certain point of view. "Hey -- James." She has to stop herself from saying Bucky. "Contraband? I'm honored!" She grins.

Frederica (73) has posed:
Frederica is, despite her outward brashness, a kind and gentle person. She just acts like she isn't. "And yes, I'm sort of joking about the fire. It's true I use fire, but fire is warmth, which is life. It's why we're warm-blooded, and also why we get fevers. I just have to link with you first, so I can make sure I don't give you too much energy or put it in the wrong place. Have no fear, it's not a mind reading sort of thing. I might feel a bit of what you feel, you might feel what I feel, but that's really rare and nothing to worry about." she says.

Frederica glances up when James enters, and she doesn't look quite so kindly when she regards him. He's a boy after all, even if he's Chris Rogers' son. It's probably not his fault though. "Welcome, James." she says grudgingly. "Don't disrupt the healing please... though you can sit down if you like. As long as your ... half-sister is comfortable, that's what counts. You can even take her other hand if you like." she offers. "Just not me, please. Linking with one person is hard, but two people is beyond my abilities... possibly."

James Rogers (802) has posed:
"I hope this won't interrupt the process," James says as he sets the first plastic bag down on the the table next to Sarah's bed, it is full of paperback books -- the offered entertainment. He adds, "I don't know the quality of these books but they were what I was able to find on short notice." The books are romance novels, not the trashy kind but the kind that mothers might openly give their teenaged daughters, which he picked up somewhere. He then pulls a paper bag from the other plastic bag labled wtih black and white checker pattern. "Its a burger and fries," he says, adding, "I was told that this place makes the best fast-food french fries," as he sets the bag down next to the bag of books.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sort of joking. yeah that's comforting. "Huh.. In most stories I've heard healing's always water based magic, but that makes a lot of sense." Sarah muses. "I'm willing to try it, just tell me what I need to do." She glances over towards James' gifts, "Can I just get a bite of that hamburger first?" She asks hopefully.

She gives the romance novels a suspicious look, but seems genuinely grateful for them. "I was always kind of a tomboy growing up." She admits, "But I'll take them. Anything's better than staring up at the ceiling!"

Frederica (73) has posed:
"I've had training by Phoenix, the Healing Flame. Sort of." Frederica explains. Not training as such, just a few suggestions that allowed a troubled girl to let go of a piece of the fear that was blocking her. Really, the healing was always something Frederica could do. Psychic power depends in part on your aptitudes, and in part on your desires. Her desire was always to turn her flame aptitude to something helpful rather than destructive.

"This isn't magic though. This is psychic power. Mind-based manipulation of energies and the surrounding world." she explains patiently. "I suppose you COULD have some of that burger, but it'd really work best if we BOTH had some. Perhaps we should split the fries?" she suggests hopefully. This MAY be the truth, it may be a lie. Who can say? Either way, she doesn't seem too upset at James for bringing 'contraband', once it's explained what it really is.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James grins at Fredrica's response and then says. "I can't stay..." and then he cuts off Sarah's attempt to interrupt him. "No, I really /can't/ stay. The nurse out there said she was going to time my visit and if I'm much longer she'll be coming in with a stunner to drag me out of here." Yes, he's partially joking but... which part. "Thank you for taking care of my sister, ma'am," he says to Fredrica and then heads for the door.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah peers at James in disbelief when she's cut off, "What could you have possibly done to that nurse that I haven't already!?" She says with a twinge of guilt. "But you need to go, I get it semi-bro. I'll be alright, at least until I burst into flame." She grins, then focuses of Fred, "You keep saying things like Kind of, and Sort of. Yet somehow I'm still willing to trust you. Is that another Psychic power?" She's looking quite suspicious when Frederica asks to split the Burger, but the truth is she probably couldn't eat the whole thing in her current condition anyway." She reaches over, only wincing a little and pulls the bag over where She and Fred can both get at it.

Frederica (73) has posed:
"Unless it has to do with energy flows, it's not my sort of psychic power." confesses Frederica. "No mind reading, no projection. You just be simply beguiled by my overwhelming charisma." she says with a complete lack of modesty. Either she's joking, or by damn she thinks highly of her social skills...

Sarah's reaction does warm Frederica to her. Then again, Frederica often warms to girls. It's boys that give her fits. She nods encouragingly at Sarah's gesture, then reaches out to help. "It helps the link the more we share a frame of reference." she explains. So she WAS serious about the fries. Probably.

The healing itself will be nothing terribly special. Frederica might flinch at one point, but that won't necessarily mean anything without a reason behind it. She doesn't let the flinch stop the process. Shortly after, a gentle warmth will flow into Sarah, pooling in her wounds, feeling a lot like the warmth of a soothing bath or hot spring. No pain added, no smoke. No pain taken away, for that matter, but the warmth will endure and speed up the healing process considerably. Hospital stay will continue of course, but it'll be shortened.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"Charisma's important for psychics, especially the fake ones." Sarah teases, and nibbles on her half of the burger and a couple fries. "Whatever helps the link, or hunger!" She replies before laying back and letting Frederica work on her. If asked Sarah would disagree about the lack of pain relief. Her wounds do feel a little better in the way that a dip in a sauna or a heating pad might help. "I don't know what you did.. but *something's* different." She smiles. "I think I'll actually be able to sleep though the night now. Thank you!"

Frederica (73) has posed:
Frederica seems more than a little pleased that the healing works well. "You're the one healing. I just gave your cells the energy they'll need to do it." she explains with an uncharacteristic modesty. Yes, actual pseudoscience here, not just magic.

She reaches back, stretching. One of the things she rarely tells her patients is just how good a sense she gets of their hurts. It's better than they realize, and probably better than they'd be comfortable with her knowing. Best to just keep that aspect of her power, unpleasant as it is, a secret. Pain, after all, is nothing to someone with a properly-disciplined mind.

"And thank you, by the way, for sharing." Frederica grins conspiratorially. "I'll perhaps come by a little later, and leave you something in return? You need to keep your strength up to heal properly after all!" she says with a wink.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah lets out a yawn, she doesn't even bother to try and stop it. "Makes sense to me." She murmurs. She probably doesn't even care what Fred just said. "Your welcome.. if you want to finish the rest of the burger go ahead. I'm just going to try and get some sleep! But if Bucky asks, tell him I scarfed the whole thing down, okay?" She grins and lays back, starting to close her eyes, "James! I meant James!" She corrects herself while she's got he chance.
