Bassist Meets Mogstep
Date of Scene: 21 June 2015
Location: Boston-666
Synopsis: Kyra and Haruko meet up to discuss what happened, and for Haruko to hit Kyra on the head with a guitar.
Cast of Characters: 626, 792

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko has sent directions to Kyra. These will lead her to a rather strange location: An abandoned and run down warehouse which is slated for demolition at a later date. It's not even on the bad side of town or anything like that. It's just abandoned. And a good place to cause some random destruction in a training spar. Haruko doesn't /expect/ the battle to level the warehouse, buuuuut just in case. it's better if it is slated for demolition /anyways/.

Also this location means fewer witnesses.

Haruko's vespa is parked outside. She herself is leaning against the warehouse's outer wall, next to an opened warehouse door. In her hand is her bass guitar. On occasion, she plucks at it a bit. She's more or less just tuning it. She smiles as she looks down at the guitar. She isn't even turning her head up to keep an eye out for Kyra. She just knows that Kyra will be here eventually. No point stressing the waiting and looking for her constantly. She just enjoys herself a bit as she waits for the arrival of the pro Mogstepper.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra's not a saiyan! The only way she'll be leveling a building is if she deployed some of her C4 around the structure first. Not unheard of, given enough preparation, but not something that Kyra came prepared to do. The fact that this is off in some abandoned warehouse in Boston's warehouse district actually makes Kyra a little bit suspicious since it is kind of remote. At least it isn't in a sketchy place though.

Kyra comes hauling a lot of her usual equipment from the grenade-launcher look-alike, the GLEAMING GRENADIER'S CURE-ALL, to the Galiandan equivalent of a hunting rifle (meaning it looks about 50 percent fancier than an Earth hunting rifle). She also has a number of different potions and mixtures on her in case there are any white magic mishaps and she can't heal.

Kyra has a feeling she's going to be healing a lot tonight.

Arriving on foot, she easily spots the pink-haired guitarist at the entrance to the building she was directed to. "Uh. Heya."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
After Kyra speaks, Haruko plucks at the guitar just once more. Before there is a chance to assume she didn't hear Kyra. A sly smile is on Haruko's face. The looks of this pink haired girl are often nigh impossible to read. The bassist puts her guitar in her right hand, holding it rather casually with the neck. She looks straight at Kyra, directly in the eyes, for a second.

Just as the silence is about to become awkward, Haruko finally decides to speak up. With a wider grin on her face, she says, "Hey, Deadmog. Let's head inside. I wanna hear what you have to say about as much as I want to fight you." Haruko motions towards the warehouse with her left thumb, and then starts strutting in. She stretches a bit, holding the guitar above her head and arching her back. She even lets out a little bit of a yawn as she does so.

Once she gets to the center of the warehouse, she turns to face Kyra again. Her grin has become a friendly smile, "So. Forget if you heard who I am. Haruhara Haruko. Nathan's housekeeper. I'm trying to help Nathan with some of his problems. Buuuut, I want to help you with yours, too. Even if you just wanna talk it out, it should be good for you, right?"

Haruko takes a step closer to Kyra. She leans ofrward, to look Kyra dead in the eye. A smile, "So. Why did you do to make the whole religiou hate you?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra holds Haruko's gaze for a few seconds before they drop to the guitar in her hands. Normally she's pretty good at identifying the makes of musical instruments...from her world. She'd yet to catch up on recognizing the ones from Earth. Eventually, she grins back.

"You gotta say it like the o is a zero." she teases, though with a halfhearted smile. She's...well, she sounds a lot more down these days than she did prior to the ADVENT incident. Mentally, the whole ordeal did take a toll on her. Nevertheless, she follows the pink-haired woman in, unshouldering the CURE-ALL as she does.

"Oh, yeah, vaguely remember you saying something about housekeeping and hanging around Nathan. He needs it. Especially the library...which is /basically/ Nathan's house." She sets the CURE-ALL aside on the ground and unshoulders her hunting rifle next. This one she doesn't set aside. "Um. I could talk it out. It's become a huge mess now-uhhh."

She waves her free hand. "I didn't want to make the /religion/ hate me, just my parents. Just enough to get me disowned. They were a bunch of control freaks and I didn't realize just how much they were holding me back until they /finally/ let me go to school like the rest of my brothers and sisters. You know, they even held me back for years to homeschool me? I didn't even get to go to Alexander Academy until two grades ago!" Kyra devolves into full out angsty, ranty teenager at this point. "Most of my other brothers and sisters got to start as soon as they could! /And/ on top of that, they picked out this really awful arranged marriage. I had to get out!"

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
"I'll make a note to pronounce the zero, Deadm0g." A grin on Haruko's face, yet again. Haruko can really appreciate music of most all kinds. So of course she's going to listen to the artist's specifications on how to say the name.

A smile, "And yeah, cleaning Nathan's place is a full time job. I do get /some/ free time and wiggle room. Kind of ignored my job a bit while helping with the interrogation. Buuuut hey, it's for the greater good, ya know?"

As Kyra talks of her life, Haruko just listens. She nods on occasion as Kyra speaks, mostly to show that she is still listening. The face of the pink haired guitarist remains with the smiling poker face on it throughout the whole bit of talk. It's a lot to take in, and a fairly unusual and overly controlled life.

"Well. At a guess, your parents were /probably/ trying to do what's best for you. Raise you as they feel fit, marry you to a good guy, give you opportunities that your siblings didn't get. Sounds like they had plans for you. Hopes and dreams for what you'd do with your life. I mean, I don't know /what/ you did, still, but, hey, if you're standing against what they wanted for you? Wouldn't surprise me if they were involved in putting out the attack on you. Their names /did/ come up when the monk talked about you, after all."

And then as Haruko offers that almost certainly heartwrenching suggestion that Kyra's parents might be involved in what happen, Haruko speaks again, cheerfully, "I can't blame you for not wanting that life though, wanting to see more. Following your heart and what not. So, you /probably/ made the right choice on this one anyways. But what /did/ you do to get out of the situation and piss them and your religion off? Not believe in the religion? Run away from home? Ditch your marriage?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Better!" Kyra chirps at the proper pronunciation. It's important! Deadmog on Youtube is someone /completely different/ and she cannot have people going to the wrong person when looking for music.

"Tch, I really don't mind with shirking your duties for that. What happened to the guy afterwards? They could probably throw him in jail for assault in Ramuh." She doesn't want to entertain the thought that he might be stuffed in a locker somewhere.

But Kyra slowly frowns. She never considered anything that her parents had done to her any sort of good-well, good for /her/. But to think their refusal would result in them helping a bunch of radical Cosma followers ruin her and hurt her friends like that...? "...it wouldn't surprise me if they did." she says quietly, angrily. "But I hoped it wouldn't happen. That they'd just start pretending I didn't exist.."

Haruko asks what she did and Kyra's quick to reply: "Basically all those things and more. The nail that did it was leaving home. I'd abandoned the religion years ago so it'd all been fermenting for a while. ...you sound weirdly /cheerful/ about all of this."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko shrugs a little at the talk of the monk, "I've left him in the cell for now. As a housekeeper, I'm actually not sure if I have any legal authority to have arrested the guy. ...Actually, speaking of which, I should ask people what to do with him now."

At the question of about how cheerful Haruko is about this, a simple smile is on her face, "Well, what good would me being down do for you? It'll just make you feel worse, wouldn't it? I'm just a bit of an optimist in general, anyways. You got out alive, after all, and it's not like they're trying to /kill/ you."

Haruko stretches a bit again, "Well. Sounds like not much more you can do. Your parents love you enough to try and set up a good life for you, you picked your own life, broke their hearts, and now they want you to suffer for it. All you can do now is live and keep moving on. ...Granted, we don't know for a /fact/ your parents are in on it. Might be good to get info to make certain of it though. Possibly confront them, one day."

Haruko's smile remains. She looks straight into Kyra's eyes again. "Do you have any regrets, though? I mean. If you have regrets, that's what makes it harder."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"What you did is proooobably considered kidnapping." Kyra seems to care very little about this particular lawbreaking. "But like you said...for a good cause. You should probably turn him over to Cirra Constantine, she can take care of the legal junk."

Kyra laughs, but it sounds a little nervous, perhaps at the 'at least they're not trying to kill you' bit. "Well yeah, you do have a point. It's jst that nobody else I've talked to about this stuff has been this cheerful about it. Like my friend Landon, he's downright disapproving."

Sadness overcomes her when she mentions this and it remains in her green eyes when she looks back up at Haruko. "My only regret now..." she says quietly, "...is that what I've done seems to be hurting my friends and the people around me. I'd be okay if was only leveled at /me/ but it pisses me off that my friends are suffering now too."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko smirks a little at Kyra, "Well, I'll figure out exactly what to do with him. I did have to rough him up a /bit/, but hey, I really can't be blamed for it in this situation, can I? Plus, hey, as long as it makes you happy, makes me wish I had taken in more of them."

Haruko is beginning to realize: Kyra is having a lot of difficulty right now. She's standing up against something much bigger than herself. She's setting out on her own to follow her own dreams. And, she hasn't even considered if her parents were making choices for her own good. This is a young girl who is incredibly emotionally troubled, and conflicted.

"Well. If your only regret is your friends being targetted? Be ready for more of that. They don't want to kill you. This probably means they want you to suffer as a living example. I bet they'll want to hurt your friends even /more/ than you, just to show what assosciating with you does. You're going to need to think long and hard. Because sounds like you made enemies with a number of dangerous people. Including, maybe, your own parents."

And then suddenly Haruko grabs the neck of her guitar with both hands. With a huge amount of force, she swings the guitar like a baseball bat, aimed at Kyra's face. Or, more specifically, her forehead. Haruko's smile is still present, though her eyes look a bit more fierce.

"And you have to be ready for people to attack you at /any time/! Which is why I'm going to help put you through /super intense training/."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"You did what you had to do, right?" Kyra shrugs, apparently TOTES OKAY with a rough interrogation. A monk can handle it, after all, unlike a Bard. "Thanks, though, it does give me some idea of what I might have to deal with now."

Haruko continues and she points out that her friends are probably going to get it even worse now. "It makes sense. They would want to see the Cherem isolated and alienated with no allies." Kyra looks troubled. "It wasn't supposed to turn out like thi-HOLY SHIT!"

To Kyra's credit, she /did/ see Haruko previously KO a dude with a guitar. She had been a little bit prepared for the possibility of getting FACED with a guitar. Her rifle, already at the ready, lifts and fires at Haruko, containing more of the same Sleep-tranquilizers she was using the other day. But it doesn't really help with the dodging because she doesn't manage to dodge in time.

Kyra flies backwards and lands on her butt, groaning in pain. She doesn't bother trying to stand, flailing until she manages to slap a hand against her forehead and get a Cure spell into her to clear up the severe concussion.

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
The sleep dart flies forward, and Haruko swings her guitar to try and block it. She barely misses swinging at the dart, allowing it to strike her arm. Haruko pulls the dart out. Though she is a bit drowsy, she still stays on her toes. She's awake enough to tell that she did, in fact, hit Kyra right on the forehead, as targetted. Her face remains with the same smile on it before.

Even as Kyra is still healing, Haruko runs forward. This guitar swing is aimed straight at the side of the white mage. Haruko lectures even as she is swinging her guitar wildly. Haruko puts enough force in this that she'll even spin in a full circle as she swings.

"You can't stay still! Keep moving even as you're healing! Stay on your ass and you're an open target!"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra looks up through her fingers and sees multiple Haruko's running at her with the guitar raised high. Fear gathers in her gut as she realizes her shot must've missed and now her nightmare of melee combat is realized.

Kyra shrieks and dives forward between Haruko's legs, rolling along the ground and pulling herself up into a wobbly run away from Haruko. "You said training! Not savage beatings!!" Kyra shouts, tearing a flask from her belt.

She turns just briefly to throw it behind her, trying to aim for Haruko's feet. But with her head still reeling, her aim may be kind of off. When the flask shatters, a sticky clear substance is released that quickly reveals itself to be some kind of glue or adhesive.

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
As the adhesive flask is tossed, Haruko leaps into the air. For a housekeeper who has repeatedly insisted she is just a normal housekeeper, she is quite a bit more impressive than she lets on. As she leaps through the air, she is even doing a flip, before landing on her feet. Her guitar is held in her hands like a gun again, pointing straight at Kyra. Haruko is close. Incredibly close. Aiming straight at Kyra's head.

     "BANG BANG!"

And then Haruko pulls the trigger.

A little flag with 'BANG' written on it sticks out of the guitar, pointing at Kyra's head. And then Haruko flings her guitar onto her back. Her pose gets a bit more casual, arms crossed right in front of her. And Haruko grins in a lot more friendly of a manner.

"Of /course/ I'm training you. Savage beatings are often training! Seriously. But that's going to be the main point of this training. You're going to get used to people trying to beat the shit out of you, right out of the blue! Otherwise, when someone tries for /real/, you'll be caught flat footed again."

Haruko puts a hand forward, for a handshake.

     "No hard feelings, okay?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Ahhh!" Kyra swears again as Haruko clears the flask without incident. Her free hand moves to grab onto her rifle again and as Haruko is airborne, she starts firing off more of her darts. It doesn't seem to help in preventing the distance from being closed nor from being shot in the head-!

Oh it's one of those gag guns. Color returns to Kyra's face but she doesn't lower the rifle. "...ah." Kyra winces, "I get it. I don't like it, but I get it."

She moves her non-trigger hand away from the gun and reaches out to shake Haruko's hand.

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko's handshake is firm and strong. Full of confidence. After shaking the hand, she lets go, and just looks over Kyra one more time. It's like Haruko is silently judging Kyra, trying to figure out this white mage girl just a bit more.

"...Yeah, I think you'll do just fine."

Haruko sounds encouraging as she speaks. Even though her words hold a double meaning. Yes, Kyra will do just fine. But for something else, as well as her life in general.

"If you don't mind, I'll keep looking into surprising you more in the future. Keep giving you training from hell. But in a /safe/ way. If you're fine with it, hell, I might even recruit other people for it. But. Only if you keep wanting the training to happen. It's up to you. Do you want to let me make you stronger?"

And, another smile, "I can help you through this in other ways even if you say no, though. Like with the emotional aspects. Come to me if you ever need to talk."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra shifts warily at the handshake. She's tense, as if she's expecting that this is another moment spent to lure her into a false sense of security before Haruko hits her head again. She's not really sure what Haruko's words mean but in this moment, she opts for a more optimistic outlook. Like Haruko has faith she could adapt to this brutal training.

"If you think so..." she says, "You're right though. I really need to get tougher. It'll help me be a better Elite if anything." She still doesn't lower her weapon. In fact, when the handshake is over, Kyra puts it back on her gun.

"I trust that you won't kill me." the white mage half-smiles. "As long as you don't cross the murder line, it's alright, right?"

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko chuckles a bit as Kyra mentions the murder line, "Hey, no way I'm crossing that line. Trust me. I like you. I think we could be pretty good friends. We both like music, anyways. Shares hobbies are always good. We should jam, sometime."

And then suddenly Haruko reaches out, to place her hand on the top of Kyra's head. She just rubs a bit, smiling at the young girl. Haruko has, already, taken up a new 'sister' in the form of Nonon. Normally, she wouldn't do this again almost immediately. But... Kyra is in desperate need of a new family. And that would help Haruko integrate herself even more into Kyra's life, and the lives of so many of the Multiverse's Elites.

"Ever consider finding a new family? Might be a lot of people who'd be willing to take you in as part of their own."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"We should. You heard my music the other night...or some of it at least...so you actually like it? Yeah, I know it's an acquired taste." Kyra looks a little sheepish. "I like doing collabs though." And this did remind her of something Moonfin said to her the other day: get with someone and do her music with a person she trusts for a while.

Plop. The hand is placed on her head and the hood on her head flops backwards afterwards. Beneath is red hair. She peeks up at the hand, again, wary of incoming FOUL PLAY though she seems relieved when nothing of the sort happens.

"I've thought about it. I know it happens in the Union quite a lot. But nobody's really said anything to me about it. I might be too old for it...like Toph is 14. I'm almost an actual adult."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko just gives Kyra a soft smile. This is a lot more comforting and reassuring. She just lets her hand rest on the top of Kyra's head for a bit.

"Well. I'm only nineteen myself." This, of course, is bullshit. She looks at /least/ in her mid to late twenties. "But, if you want, you can think of me like a big sister. I'll leave it up to you, okay? I mean. Age doesn't really matter. If you feel like you're still young and you still need the family and the support? You totally need the support. So if you feel young enough to still need a big sister, you probably do."

Haruko honestly doesn't expect Kyra to accept. It's yet another time Haruko is trying to worm her way into someone's life. But, at the least, the sentiment should be appreciated.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra squints at Haruko when she claims to only be 19. Being someone with schooling in the anatomical arts in perparation of a doctorate, she does have some vague inkling of how to figure out ages. It didn't quite seem to add up but Haruko couldn't be that much older than 19 anyway.

"...I had four big sisters in my old family." Kyra admits quietly. "It was a big family. The Hyrals are a big family." But right now she's not sure-part of her wants to be that adult but part of her also wants that support. "I wouldn't mind having another new big sister but I wanna get to know you more first, y'know? And don't think I can hire you as a housekeeper either because I don't have the money for that kind of stuff."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko just continues to grin at Kyra. Well. At the least, this is a start. She finally takes her hand off of the younger girl's head, and then places her hands on her hips.

"Well. I'm an only child, myself. So not fully sure what it's like to have a sister. ...But, if you need any house keeping? It's on the house. Nathan pays me well, I get free time on occasion, and I got a /big/ bonus from Psyber for bringing in that monk."

A chuckle, "At the least, I have to say? It's nice to meet you when you /aren't/ being attacked by religious fanatics."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"It can either suck or it can be super cool. Like Riva. She's really cool and she's my replacement big sister whether she likes it or not." Riva should be a familiar name to Haruko since she's also a part of Heaven or Hell. Plus she was also at the club on Tuesday and happily fought the Fanatics.

Kyra looks embarassed. As if she doesn't want to admit that her and Dominic's apartment is actually kind of messy-because it is. "You sure about that whole 'free services rendered' thing? Like suuuuuper sure?" She squirms.

Her nervousness finally fades, Kyra accepting that she's probably not going to get jumped with a guitar again. "Heh, thanks, it's nice to meet you in the flesh. You know, when things aren't being absolutely nuts."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Riva is indeed a familiar name. Because Riva was the one who for some reason kept talking like a cat during the time a robot came out of Nathan's head. Haruko, currently, has no particular interest in Riva. But, it's at least worth looking into now. Because Riva is connected to Kyra.

Haruko smiles, "Hey, don't worry, I can help a bit. Won't be /all/ the time. Just help on occasion. Like maybe once every couple of weeks. Besides, wouldn't you like some extra companionship?"

Haruko pulls her guitar off her back. She grins. She isn't going for an attack. Not this time. Kyra would obviously be expecting it right now. Instead, Haruko simply plays a few strands of the bass. "You know what, I gotta head to the music shop to get some new strings. Wanna come along with me? You can ride on the back of my Vespa. Should be pretty cool to see what Boston has to offer for music stuff, right?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Well I sure wouldn't /mind/. You'd have to keep crashing with Nathan because getting another person crammed in our place would be rough. Unless you like sleeping on couches." If only she knew.

The hunting rifle finally lowers completely, swung back onto Kyra's back. She seems to be under the impression that guitar-thwackings will not happen now. "Huh. Sure, I'd be okay with that. I've got no other plans for the night." She turns away to retrieve the big ol' cure-all. She doesn't bother cleaning up the messes left behind from the broken flask and leftover adhesive. "Have you been around the city much? 'cause I haven't yet, actually, so I'm a lousy tour guide."

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
Haruko lifts a hand, waving it dismissively and shaking her head a bit, "Oh, no, no, not living with Nathan. Psyber wouldn't let me yet. Got an apartment nearby in Boston. So, don't worry about me needing to move in with you. ...Though a free apartment with a couch to crash on /does/ sound tempting."

Haruko whistles. With that, her vespa drives itself inside. Haruko hops onto it completely necessary, and smiles at Kyra, "I've been living here a couple weeks, so I can find my way around well enough. Maybe I'll just go ahead and give you a tour." A slight pause, "...Don't have a second helmet for you though, buuuut you should be okay. You can heal yourself if something happens!"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Oh, I swore you were doing that live in maid kind of thing." Kyra says hastily, the embarassment returning. Reaching up, she tugs her hood back onto her head in case she has to deal with the INFERNAL DAYSTAR outside. The shade did help her evade being badly sunburned by the horrible, horrible glowing gas-ball Bomb suns the earths had. "I'm not ready to have another person move in with us yet ehehehe..."

Kyra manages to quickly sidestep out of the way of the Vespa. In reviewing what footage she had of the ADVENT attack, she did manage to catch a little bit of this happening though the angle wasn't quite right. "I'll just not fall off. Maybe I should use some of my adhesive to help that..." She seems less than thrilled at that idea, though, as she settles herself on the back of Haruko's Vespa.

Haruhara Haruko (792) has posed:
And despite (okay, fine, because of) Kyra's reluctance, Haruko almost /immediately/ zooms off, driving out of the warehouse. She is driving like a bit of a madwoman, smiling as she goes. She does look back at Kyra, while driving, smiling, "Oh, I prefer live-in. Buut not quite allowed yet. We'll see if it happens, though!"

She continues to speed off into the distance, going at ridiculously high speeds. She'll take Kyra to a local music shop, possibly get her ice cream, and otherwise just have a bit of fun, before bringing her home.

And Haruko can not wait til the little bump on Kyra's head slowly begins to change.
