Cast of Characters: 834, 838

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
Finding the table that Valentha chose isn't hard at all. It's far away from any of the unnerving window views. It's a 4 person table next to a long wooden railing! She's currently looking over her menu, and periodically glancing over it for any sign of Taylor!

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor makes his way inside but has to leave the Armored Core out of this. Not that he is really worried about anyone trying to steal it. Those aqua blue eyes scan around the area looking for the location that he was give by the young woman over the global band.

Once again he found himself taking in all the foreign beings here and it had him a touch on edge again. At last though he finds his target, the young woman in the corner who could probably be no older then her early twenties, yet those eyes of hers. He causes his brows to furrow, before he makes his way over.

Taylor is in more casual of wear really, blue jeans, t-shirt, those military boots. He doesn't look at all like some big time rich boy, but someone you would probably see down in the urban part of the city really. "Mind if I join you?" He asks with a soft smile, looking directly at her to meet her gaze.

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
Valentha blinks, lowers the menu slightly, glances over her shoulder and fixes both eyes on Taylor quite easily. "Well." Her tone's warm and pleasant, inviting. She gestures at the table. "You're easy on the eyes. Be my guest. Mr. Taylor Scott?"

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
"I can say the same to you, miss Summers." Taylor replies with that gentle smile remaining as he takes a seat. "And be my pleasure." The young man takes a seat as he picks up one of the menus looking it over. "So what would you like to talk about-- or we going to do pleasure first then business?" He asks with a coy grin, trying to keep the mood light.

He never was one for the whole 'professional' deal anyways. A peoples kind of guy and he like to keep it that way.

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"Well, depends. What kind of pleasure? I'm in the mood for... hm..." Her finger roams around the menu and finally lands on... "Carnivore's Feast pizza... sounds like a meal! Mm." She's bubbling with energy. Just a single glance tells that. Sitting up straight, enthusiasm in her eyes. But there's an unusual amount of patience for a teenager... or soeone just past it.

She reaches out to shake his hand. "The business I'm talking for /can/ wait for one meal."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
"Good, cause that sandwich I had, isn't gonna last me long." Taylor chuckles as he shakes the offered hand. "Nice to have a conversation with someone I don't have to worry about getting upset with me staring to long. Tons of races I have yet to get use too."

And he is thanking that so far the largest contact he has had socially speaking are with what seem to be humans. Once he settles on a good ol' Hamburger with a chocolate shake, he makes his order and leans back in the chair. "So... your from that same place they were talking about on global that has those Juicers?"

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"Even then, not everyone's as they seem, Mr. Scott. You should ~always~ be on guard." The message is given in a good-natured, joking tone, but smoothly enough that it does NOT sound like a wisecracking. She means that.

"And you got it in one. If it needs a designation, let's call it Rifts Earth, since they're the most defining thing setting it apart from plenty of other ones."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
"Rifts Earth huh? I'll keep that in mind."Taylor admits as he watches the food get served and thanks the waitress. He then picks up one of the fries. "I will also keep the whole thing regarding not trusting what I first see, but trust me when I say this," He smirks faintly. "You don't survive in the military for a year and not understand that one."

"No one, I don't care who they are, is always what they seem. Not even me and I'm pretty sure even you have skeleton's in your closet as well. That is just the nature of people." Taylor says with a matter of fact type of tone before he takes a bite of his fry.

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"Well... maybe a couple. They get a yearly dusting though, I assure you!" Valentha quips, now CLEARLY joking. She seems asatisfied with this response, and the arrival of her small pizza which she immediately begins digging into. NOMPH!

But after getting a piece down...

"So, you've heard the overall state of things, right?"

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
"I was listening to the best I can." Taylor admits before he takes another bite of the fry, he finishes before he speaks up. "Though if you want to give me another quick run down, I'll be more then glad to listen."

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"mm." Val purses her lips, then waggles a finger. "Three centuries ago, the world as everyone knew it, likely quite similar to yours, ended. A disaster, likely a terrible act of war, flooded the world's natural channels of magic to heights they hadn't seen for thousands of years. They'd been so dormant people back then had dismissed magic as just fairy tales and superstition. The event caused a chain reaction of disasters... terrible weather, volcanic eruptions, tidal waves, hurricanes... and also rifts in space and time connecting to hellish and alien dimensions. Demons and other troublemakers were among the first to come out. The governments and nations were smashed to bits, the majority of people didn't make it. The world today is very, very different from what you'd imagine of an Earth, I'm sure."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor takes a drink of his shake as he listens to her explain the history of her world. His brows furrow gently as he rests down his drink. "That does sound like a pretty big problem." He admits as he goes after a few fries thinking this over a little. "How do you want me to help out? Sounds like you guys have a few corporations already in play, along with people who know magic... which where I am from... magic is... just make believe."

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"I'll get to that!" Val tsks, clearly hoping for some patience. Another bite of pizza later, she takes a deep breath, brings her hands close together, and starts chanting softly. The words are nonsense to the untrained ear, but a few resonate strongly. Both hands are near one another, fingertips almost touching, with an empty space between the palms. After a few seconds... both her hands sizzle with a blue aura, and this power gathers, swirls, congeals into a tiny ball. Much like a newborn star it congeals, then shines with a brilliant white light. Roughly on par with a lightbulb. This little light dances about as Valentha twirls a finger, following the gesture.

    "Magic is a thing, yes!"

She no doubt expects this little show to have a jaw dropping.

"People -have- rebuilt. A handful of cities and manufacturing centers where once there were hundreds and thousands. It pains me to say that with so many monsters, demons, and stranger things out there, people can only live peacefully if they're surrounded by a wall of firepower. There isn't enough firepower, magic or bullets or what-have-you, to cover that much territory. There's always a need for more. I'm not entirely sure how well your machines can stand up to what's out there, but I'm certain you can see there's an unexploited market for them in other worlds."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor stares with wide eyes as she creates a ball of light with this magic. He does down low in his chair and peers at it with child wonder almost. "That is... amazing..." He says with a boyish smile that comes across his lips onto his face.

"Ha haha... holy shit..." He then realizes how far he has scooted down to look at it and then sits himself back up, with a gentle 'ahem'. "That is really impressive though!" The young man then hrms on the next part. He eats what remains of his fries, cutting the burger in half as he idly thinks about the next part she says.

"While I could have PCI provide some equipment and even Armored Cores, I... really don't know they will hold up either." Those teal blue eyes close. "Its a whole new frontier that hasn't been explored into and I hate to send over machines, equipment, and weaponry without being sure if it is going to hold up there."

Taylor then continues to explain, remaining honest at least. "PCI has a reputation on my world on building reliable, tough machines, but... that is my world and from what I read in some articles, that doesn't always apply outside." He frowns at those words, his jaw even clenches a bit. "I can provide them, stick on a warranty, even a test run... at least that way, I suppose, if it does go belly up, you and your people don't lose any money out of it."

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
Val waves a hand slightly as if to alleviate the worry. The little light continues to dance, but it slowly fizzles out too.

"Of course I'm not asking you to just suddenly throw in full bore without research. Merely pointing out an angle I'm hoping you DO research. Because there's people out there who could use the help and support if it can make a difference. Of course I'd love to see them in action myself!" She then sprouts a big, happy grin. Taylor might recognize it as a GEEK TRYING NOT TO DROOL about something they're fanatic about.

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor chuckles a bit and nods. "Well, maybe next time when we got some free time. I'll bring down one of the stocks and we'll see how well it handles in your world." He says with a smile. "Maybe I'll bring an extra one just for you to mess around in."

He then goes to eat half of his burger. Mmm. Burger.

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
Val makes a satisfied 'hm' and finishes devouring her third slice of pizza. That stomach of hers doesn't seem to have a bottom... yet somehow she keeps this figure just fine! MAybe that's magic, too.

"That's what I was hoping to hear, Mr. Scott."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
"What can I say," Taylor laughs, "I aim to please... and hey, just call me Taylor alright? Scott thing makes me feel like my old man and I'd rather not be like him." He says gently looking a bit distant, before he rubs the back of his neck.

"He wasn't a bad guy, he was a good father, but... he was a stickler. Very professional, very much all the time business. I like being the guy who is the friend of the people and just... one of the normal people." Taylor snorts softly, not saying what else was on his mind as he goes after the last half.

"I'll see what I can do for you, Val... you don't mind me calling you Val do you?" He asks glancing up over his burger half to her.

Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
There's a merry twinkle in Val's eye. Then she snaps a mock salute. "Aye-aye. ... oh, and on both accounts. Val's fine, go right ahead."
