Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
The Harlan Yarbrough Maritime Museum of the Logos Archipelago is large, made of a formal drydock facility. Within its expansive grounds are replicas of actual ships that people can wander about and read information on. The museum has a location specific application for portable computing devices (notably phones, but most wireless devices with a screen will work) to let the patrons read blurbs about the exhibits as well as explore some of the additional material that is not on display. For those without such devices, one can rent one. There are also regular tours of the museum for those who prefer a more personal touch to their experience.

Kari and Harriet are settled into Zarenna's pockets as they explore the place. At the moment they are looking at a very large galleon with 366 bronze cannons spread across five gun decks. The information says the ship displaces approximately 1,000 tons of water. For a wooden sailing ship made during the age of sail it is impressive.
"Look at the sails, Master! You could cover the entire top of the apartment building with them!" Kari says, looking upwards and pointing at the sail with all its rigging and pulleys hanging from the mast's cross-spar. Zarenna is following Kari's gaze as well, marvelling at how much work it would have taken to build and maintain these things. Harriet is busy browsing the information broadcasts via the virtual interface she was built with.

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor Scott was invited to this museum of pirate ships and such things by that of Kari Wolf, so the young man has found himself here today walking along in more common of clothing. A nice T-shirt, with a pair of jeans, and his military boots. His hands are in his pockets as he examines the ships and at last locates Kari and her 'master' as they look at a ship.

"Kari Wolf, I presume?" Taylor says with a gentle smile to her, then his teal blue eyes go to look at the ship before them. "Man... I've only seen these things in history books, video games, and Hollywood special effects."

Taro (399) has posed:
Technically speaking, Taro has no need of a handheld computer device, but let's be polite, shall we? Besides, this is as good as time as any to road test the mobile phone he's set up for Sir Integra's use. It's carried casually in hand, and occasionally glanced at, but for now the galleon itself annd not the passages written about it that has his attention.
For all its primitiveness, he must admit it has its own elegance. Not to mention superior firepower for its time and place.
His gaze shifts from ship to the approaching stranger...well, stranger to him at least, apparently less so to Kari and presumably Zarenna and Harriet. He gives Taylor a polite nod, then a quick glance to the shinki and their master as if to check that this was expected company.

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
Jeannette really was something of a modern woman. Certainly she was more impressed by warships of metal and composites with sleek lines and enourmous fire power... or the sheer amount of goodies a container ship could move across the ocean. There was always a bit of supersitition in her, though, and, walking around the musuem on a day off, it was had not to be reminded of how much more life could be in a wooden ship; the sails at her top, the creek of wood as men walked across their decks, the smell of cordite after the explosion of gunpowder needed to fire something of that canon.

Of course, she can't help but off-handedly mention to the group that's collected next to her. "There's something interesting about them, certainly. BUt I would hope there's some ones with a history here, instead of just new timber and nylon made to look good for the schoolchildren."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor leans over to see what the plaque has to say about it, before he looks back up to the vessel once more. He pulls out a device that looks a bit like an Android and then turns it side way, before tapping on the screen. The back part of it slide a section which he seems to line up the device, before he taps on the screen again. With a flicker of light, it takes a picture of it, before he takes another, then another. Going down the width of the ship before him.

Once he is done, he slides his finger along the screen, before he taps on it twice on the corner. The image seems to actually connect itself into one large image on screen. He glances over to Jeannette about then, "New or Original, its still impressive to see one. In my world, sailing ships like these... any sailing ship... doesn't even exist anymore. No one sees the point in them, sadly."

Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
The ship is touted as a recreation of a 16th century (by standard Earth reckoning) Portugese galleon. The information explains the traditional methods of ship-building that were use, mentioning that the only real deviation was needing to find large trees of the right shape. And the use of modern power tools to shape things to save lots and lots of time. One can also see museum staff checking the rigging for fraying and other dangerous signs of wear.

Kari waves at Taylor Scott. "Hi Mister Scott! This is my Master, and in the coat pocket is my sister Harriet!"
Zarenna looks at Taylor and Jeannette with a brief smile. "Hello, I'm Zarenna Keras, nice to meet you both." Harriet just looks up and waves politely before going back to read about the battles the original ship was in. Taro gets noticed by Kari and of course, the way she is.
"Hi Mister Taro!" Kari says from the breast pocket of the coat with a wave.

Taro (399) has posed:
That takes care of the introductions, if not exactly in the traditional way. But it's an informal setting and Kari is hardly known for being traditional. "Hello Kari, Harriet, Zarenna...Mister Scott." Taro's tone is pleasant, even if if lacks a smile to support it.
A quick glance is flicked at the woman nearby after her comment. "I imagine that there would be, though I also imagine that use and age would make preserving them problematic."

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
Jeannette Thompson gives a bit of a shrug of her shoulders at Taro's comment. "Oh, that may be, certainly. Time and money increasing as age does, the whole 'Ship of Theseus' problem and all that, but, still. A real ship with real history is something to be hold. To walk on a deck and know that your ancestors walked it before you. Almost as good as crewing one, I'd imagine, though I haven't had the honor." She raises her hand and gives a tiny wave and a small smile. "Hello, Zarenna. I'm Raletza. Very pleased to meet you and your sister." She says, before extending her hand to the one carrying them. "And you too, sir." Another turn around. "Mister Scott, as well."

She'll finally turn to offer a hand to Taro. "Sir." Another pause to look up at the ship itself. "You know, these large ones are fine, certainly, but not the most elegant. There should be some frigates around here." She says, looking over to Taylor. "I've actually seen one old one from the 18th century out under sail, a few years ago. A few training ships are out there too, I imagine."

Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Zarenna brushes some purple hair out of her face before shaking Raletza's offered hand. "Madam." She listens for a bit to the conversation.
"There was a sloop in the first hallway! That thing looked so cool and fast." Kari says, going on to describe it. "And it was used by bootleggers running alcohol during the Prohibition War." Prohibition War? Must be some Earth's variant on the US Prohibition period.

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor offers his hand for shakes, "Taylor, please. Mister Scott makes me sound way to professional." He chuckles gently. "But a pleasure to meet all of you." He keeps the smile on his face, before he looks over to Jeannette again, "Training ship? Really? Man, I'd love to get in on that! That be an adventure of a lifetime right there"

Taylor then looks to Kari, "I remember reading about that in the history books I think. I also know that long ago, I think was Louisianan was owned by Pirates." The dirty blonde then rubs the back of his neck with a sheepish smile, "But I was never very good at my history..."

Taro (399) has posed:
Taro practices proper phone etiquette by placing it back in its holster on his belt before shaking hands with 'Raletza'. "A pleasure." It wouldn't have been -his- ancestors that sailed the seas on such ships, but he simply lets it go without correction. Taylor's hand is shaken as well, if it's offered to him.
It's also not his history, and so for the moment he listens and learns.

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
Jeannette Thompson nods after all the hand shaking is done. "Oh, no trouble, Mister Scott. I am a /professional/ sort of woman." She says, giving a smile to him. "And if you do want to get in on a training ship of one sort, I seem to remember your Coast Guard has one avalible? I'm afraid I haven't made a study on the American seafaring services, but I could have sworn I've seen some pictures." She gives a thoughtful tilt of her head. "Though I don't seem to remember a Prohibition War, either, so perhaps I am a bit rusty. Still, sloops were fast. Small and undergunned, however, so that speed was it's primary armor."

Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Zarenna hmms. "They had things like this on my own world. There used to be a big race once a decade before unification to circumnavigate the globe with sailing ships. Not as big as this one, but wind-powered. Dad said it was a big deal and pretty prestigeous for the city-state that won the race. It was considered a nice challenge for sailors in an era where big nuclear-powered ships dominated things."
Kari ohs. "Sorry- " she sounds like she's trying to say /just/ Taylor but it feels very very wrong and comes out as- " Mister Taylor." The little robot looks a little frustrated and sad.
Zarenna pats Kari's head with a finger. "It's okay Kari, it's just the way you are."
"But isn't something you set when you registered me, Master?"
Zarenna shakes her head. "No, I just set your pun setting down and put a profanity filter in place. You're polite because that's what you choose to be, Kari."
Harriet says in her own quiet way. "Sloops sound like my kind of sailing ship. Is it possible that I could see one that is still in service at some point, Miss Raletza?"

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor smiles softly at Kari, "Hey... its okay." He grins a little. "Mister Taylor is fine, long as it isn't," He peers over at Jeannette, "Mister Scott," He then chuckles softly. "Cause then I need to get my shades out and be all, Scott.... Taylor Scott... and I'm seriously not James Tom material."

He does though listen to what is being address, till he looks over to Taro, "What about you, any sailing ships where you come from?"

Taro (399) has posed:
"There's nothing wrong with being polite, Kari," Taro remarks. His answer to Taylor's question (and also a bit of a remark towards Raletza as well) turns his voice a bit wry. "Like this, no, or at least not since times of ancient and forgotten history. But then I've noticed its timeline is remarkably different from that of most Earths."

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
"Oh, I've no doubt there's still a few of those races that go on to this day. With modern sailing ships, though. Fiberglass and nylon sails and emergency radios; not when your fastest means of communication was flags and faster ships. Still... it must be more relaxing on a comparetively simplier vessel." A quick turn to Taylor. "Oh, trust me. My line of work, a bit of a 'Mister' or 'Miss' before a name simply rolls off the tongue. Fitting here, too. You could be a bosun's mate, standing up along side in your dress whites with a name like that." And then to Taro. "I imangine ships like this would be forgotten in a few hundred years... in a normal world, though. Always here in the Multiverse."

A bit of a suprised glance to Harriet. "Well... I suppose it's possible. Sadly, I only know of a few old ships around where I come from. Three sailing frigates and a first-rate of the Line. I could certianly... look into a tour, I suppose, for one of them. I used to go up there for business," She explains, "And I met one of the staff. Granted, it would probably require an entry visa, but who doesn't love tourists?"

Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Harriet nods to Raletza, platinum blonde 'hair' swishing slightly. "That would be acceptable, ma'am."
Kari ohs. "Okay Mister Taylor." She glances about at the ship again. "... Isn't this place so cool?! Seeing ships like this in person is the best. Oh oh, I saw they have something called a hydrofoil on display."
Zarenna says "Well, they didn't use flags since they had radios and GPS on board." She pauses for a bit, listening to Jeannette talk. "Yeah, I can only imagine life on a sailing ship like this. Must have been pretty different from what most Information Age societies are used to."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor places his hands in his pockets as he listens to everyone, not having much to comment back too and giving a gentle nod to some explanations. He does glance over to Taro though, "Maybe one day you could share some differences. I know a few Earth's had a thing called Vietnam War.... something mine never did. Actually my Earth's history seem to alter when World War Two took place."

Taylor then looks over to the group, "...also Hydrofoils are awesome."

Taro (399) has posed:
"I imagine that in some corners of the Multiverse, these..." Taro smoothly sweeps a hand in the direction of the galleon around which they've gathered, "...are the height of modern technology and warfare. Or perhaps just modestly outdated." His hand drops back to his side. "Though signal flags still have their uses even where I live. When radio waves are jammed or silence must absolutely be maintained, for instance..."
That touch of wry creeps back in to his voice when he looks back to Taylor. "It may be something of a short conversation. Much more of our history has been forgotten than remembered."

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
Jeannette Thompson gives a curt nod. "Well, then, I will make some arrangements." She says. "Though, I will need some more information from you, of course. Old as they may be, they are still ships of the navy, and there are certainly security concenrs that abound." She notes, walking over to the Galleon itself. "And I imagine, even with the radio, the GPS, the communication, a ship, alone in the ocean, in the inky black of night can still be quite... isolated." She says, patting the wood in front of her. "Still, I'm sure such sailors thank whatever God they beleive in for satilettes and Internet access." A bit more of a grin on her face. "And you are, right, of course. Covert communication would be severed with these, though they /are/ visable to anyone who'd like to look. Better to use something more direct. A laser link, perhaps."

Taylor Scott (838) has posed:
Taylor tilts his head to Taro, "I see." He then listens to Jeannette explain things and chuckles softly. "You sure do know allot about Navy and ships. Sounds like you may even be a captain or... inspiring to be one?"

Taro (399) has posed:
Taro gives a small, graceful shrug as Raletza points out one of the flaws of battle flags. "Any form of communication has has its disadvantages." He leaves it there, since Taylor has asked a question of her.

Jeannette Thompson (410) has posed:
Jeannette Thompson gives a small, sad smile to Taylor, even as her eyes show a little bit of mischief. "Ahh. I'm afraid you might be right on just a point of that. I made a study of it after I got out of high school. I even thought I could be a captain some day. Sadly..." She shakes her head. "Events have conspried in such a way to make that impossible. As much as I would like it, I'll never be captain of a ship."

She peers past Taylor for a moment, to the entryway of the room itself. She seems to have spotted someone standing there, a women with a bit of life experiance who looks a bit dour, constantly scanning the room she's looking in. She gives a sharp inclination of her head, and turns to leave. Jeannette turns back to Taylor, Taro, and the robofairy minder. "I am sorry, but I'm afraid that's my signal to move on. My friend can be so insistent some times with her time table. It was a pleasure to meet you all." She says, before snapping out a small, blank plastic card to Zarenna. "My contact information- Oh. RFID, sorry." She says, removing the card, searching her pockets, and making a note on it's surface. "There. Please feel free to call if you're looking for that tour. Again, a pleasure!" She says, before moving in the direction of her friend.
