Synopsis: Still recovering from the Noise Marines' Chaos Titan, Yuna goes to visit Karian at his home on Fenris, to talk to the Wolf Lord and to try and lay some of her lingering nightmares to rest with his help.
Cast of Characters: Karian Icefang, 385

Karian Icefang has posed:
Summer on Fenris was both a mix of beauty and savagery. Volcano's going off reminded the sons of russ that despite their strengths, they still were human, and could feel awe. Yet today, things were different. The usual busy hall was empty, with some aspirants off in a hunt and others out on missions with full Blood Claws and others. Karian and his thunderwolf Ygdril were waiting in the hall, with a platter of various meats, cheeses, and breads for consumption. Also was a selection of drinks, sinse none of the servitors seemed to know what the non-astartes elites liked to drink.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
The Mike-maru-go, Yuna's cruiser, comes in for a landing at the Fang's spaceport - of course, with the usual exchange to confirm that Yuna is there, it's not somebody posing as her, etc. She wouldn't want anyone sneaking in under her identity any more than the Space Wolves would want an impostor sniffing around their home base.

Yuna herself arrives in the feast hall not long afterwards, attired in her Light Suit as she most commonly is when visiting. The little robo-faerie, Elner of Wisdom, is accompanying her as is similarly often the case ... although most of the time, when Elner's with Yuna, it means one or the other of them is expecting some kind of trouble.

That doesn't LOOK like the case this time, although there's a very faint wavering behind Yuna's smile as she raises an arm to wave to the Wolf Lord. "Hey Karian, hey Ygdril ..."

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian offers a nod towards Yuna, whereas Ygdril simply whuffs. Seemed the wolf was content enough to know that it was safe. The Wolf Lord motions for yuna to sit with him, as concern was written on his face. "You sounded off on the radio, Yuna. Please tell me what is eating at you." He says, leaning forward a bit.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"It shows, huh?" Yuna asks sheepishly, taking a seat (and a glass of something she can drink; Elner quite possibly scanned it to make sure it was healthy for a non-Astartes and non-alcoholic). "Although ..."

The blonde idol (and quasi-magical-girl) trails off briefly. "It's ... I've talked to a few others ... you remember that Chaos Titan? The ... weaponized speaker stacks, I guess?"

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian nods and keeps his one eye locked on yuna. He had a feeling he knew where this was going, and frowned softly. "Aye, I remember. Horrible thing...monsterization of such a thing. But I take it that it's more then just the speakers."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"That's something of an understatement," Elner comments quietly from its spot next to Yuna's shoulder.

Yuna just lets out a breath, closing her eyes. "I'm still ... I still have nightmares about it. Not just about the fight ... but seeing how many - all the prisoners inside, twisted, fused with the systems .. and -"

Her voice breaks; she breathes in deeply, tries to let that breath out slowly, then lifts the glass for a careful sip.

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian nods slowly, frowning. "I was afraid of this. Your purity sticks out to chaos. It wants nothing more then to take you and corrupt you." He takes a drink of ale as well, trying to think of how to explain what was going on. "This is something we encounter as well. It's an attempt to slowly corrupt you. To make you see the nightmares and drive you past insanity." He then pauses again, thinking. "Your not of the Imperium, but we find solice in our prayers. It helps ground us, and helps us fight. But...I must know. When you have these dreams, do you here whispers?"

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna shakes her head slowly. "No whispers, nothing that wasn't part of the noise of the fight ... the Titan itself, Jakuzure, the transmissions back and forth ..."

She sucks in another breath, sitting up straighter and opening her eyes again, looking at Karian. "What would it have taken to be able to save them, Karian?"

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian thinks. "Being there thousands of years before maybe. Those fused into a war machine...death truely is a better outcome. Some would lose their minds. Other's would go catatonic from the shock. More commonly, any who survive the removal are so addicted, they become cultists." He then sighs softly. "The unfortunate bit is that with the warp, it is more difficult. Time has no meaning there. A day in the warp can equate to millenia in real space. Worlds can change, people can be corrupted slowly, and when they emerge have nothing left to keep them sane." He explains. He looks to Yuna, concerned for her. "Many chaplains will give tokens to those whom feel their minds slipping, a focus point to keep them loyal and pure. For you, I think it can be different. Your music can be your focus."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna smiles wanly, "If I could just get enough sleep to get through rehearsals properly ..."

Elner says, "You *have* been getting more sleep, though. At least a little bit."

Yuna nods to Elner, then looks at Karian. "So ... all of them were too far gone?" she asks quietly, almost hesitantly. "When Elner scanned the crew - the ones who were still there after I cut the Titan open, anyway ..." She trails off again, turning the glass around slowly in her hands.

It's easy to miss the distinction between 'trailing off' and 'locking up,' though - particularly when the one leads into the other.

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian nods softly. "To be honest, to be put into a titan like that is, as far as I know, irreversable. We also do not know how long they have been in existance. But know that you gave them mercy...more then any of them would have recieved if left in their state." Karian looks over to Ygdril, and sighs. "This is terror I had hoped to spare the Multiverse. The psychological warfare that chaos brings. This is why Space Marines often are they only answer to chaos...we can close ourselves off to it. The emotional stress, and lose ourselves in prayer and other acts of repentence for what we must do." He then takes a drink, mulling over what to say. "I have already asked the Allfather to take care of the souls of those who were in the Titan....to heal them and help them find peace. In the end, that is all we can do. Pray to our god that we have done the right thing."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna nods slowly, still looking at her glass. "There was .... if there was any way we could have saved any of the 'crew,' physically, it would have taken equipment we didn't have," she murmurs, as if picking up where she left off. "Surgeons and supplies to start mending their bodies ... Gods know what else. I knew ... a lot of them would have needed more, not ... not just physical, but their minds, their souls ..."

She sucks in a breath, squeezing her eyes shut, and lifts her glass to drink some more of the juice, or whatever it is. After that deep sip, she opens her eyes again, looking straight at Karian.

"I knew that if we were going to save any of them, it would have meant waiting for medical and other support to get there ... but I still know ... that was just making excuses. I still know I took the easy -"

"Yuna," Elner interjects softly as the singer's voice breaks again. "What you claim that you 'know' ... it's not wrong to want to save every life. But there are times that it's not possible. You're still a mortal girl who was entrusted with this duty, and even with the powers you were granted to fulfill it, there will be those you can't save."

The little robo-faerie looks over at the Wolf Lord. "What you've told us is that it was impossible to save the Titan's crew, not only logistically at the time of the battle, but that mentally, spiritually, they were lost when they were first embedded in its systems. Correct?"

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian nods. "Aye, Elner. That is perhaps what makes chaos as a whole so deadly." Though he leand forward and narrows his eye at Yuna. "Elner is right. Wanting to save everyone is not wrong. But chaos is adept at making situations where no matter the outcome, there is loss. But please never let yourself doubt that you are bringing peace to their souls. Now, you have changed them from a deamons plaything to one now able to take their rest, and be at peace."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna nods slowly. "Yeah ... I still haven't convinced myself, but ..." She sighs. "There's no way to go into the Warp and fight the Chaos Gods directly, is there?"

For all that Elner doesn't have a face designed to show expression, there's still a hint of the robo-faerie having known THAT question was coming. "Even if it is technically and physically possible, Yuna, it is not a fight that I'm going to permit you to embark on. Nor will the rest of your friends."

Karian Icefang has posed:
"Not alone, Yuna. But sadly it is unknown if they even have physical forms. Besides...getting close would subject you to worse they you had seen from the titan." Karian explains. Though he does smirk. "But if we find a way, I will let you know."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Elner doesn't have arms or hands, either, or you can be fairly certain the robo-faerie would facepalm.

Yuna, on the other hand, actually giggles softly. "Just wishful thinking, really. But yeah ..." Her smile fades somewhat, although not entirely. "Thanks, Karian. I think knowing ... knowing for sure, that there wasn't really a way to save them ... I think that helps a little."

Karian Icefang has posed:
Karian nods. "Just doing my job.....quite literally. My task is to see to the spritual well-being of my company...to which you and many others unofficially belong to by association." He says, offering a warm smile...or at least as close to one he could manage, despite his fangs.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna smiles back, inclining her head to the Wolf Priest, then moves to start getting some food together to much on. She hadn't eaten supper yet before coming out, after all - but it wasn't a conversation she wanted to have over food. On the plus side, if her appetite had been suffering as much as her sleep had been, she seems to be recovering on that front. Time will tell if her sleep is any more peaceful.
