Raine Arland (604) has posed:
"Ladies annnnnnd gentlemen, aaaaaaaaaand anyone inbetween! It's that time again!"

% In the announcer's booth, a young man in black enthusiastically spoke into the mic. Beside him was a woman dressed in pure white. She looked like a ghost, if there was any basic way to put it. "Time for another heart pounding, gut clenching, teeth chattering brawl! Are you prepared? Because I'm /not/ prepared!"

     Wait what?

"Over here in the Gizard Wasteland, we've got the biggest, baddest brawler on this side of the multiverse, Sagat! Versus the Spartan-III, Noble Siiiiiiiiiix. Tune in to channel 900.4 for the epic play by play, or even getter, get your asses over here and witness it firsthand! Let's get pumped! Because fists will fly at this location!"

Sagat (95) has posed:
Sagat made a point of being early to the battlefield - the Gizard Wasteland, relatively familiar territory for him by this point. The massive fighter actually spent a couple of minutes trying to find the spot where Taylor Scott's machine embedded him in the rock face during their qualifier match, but came up empty-handed. Maybe this is the wrong part of the canyon ... or maybe that crater got cratered over by other violently forceful impacts in other matches.

Well, no matter. For now, Sagat stands in the middle of the canyon, his back to a smallish spire of orange rock, and waits for his opponent.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
Another match with a melee focused fighter. Noble Six knows melee is not her best area to fight in, but she's decided that she'll play it on Sagat's terms. She still has her knife if things seem to be getting out of hand, but she'd rather avoid using it if she can. She is still a highly trained super soldier, after all.

Arriving on the battlefield, she stops near Sagat after arriving, looking him over for a moment, "Not often I fight somebody bigger than I am." She says, as she looks up at him, "But don't judge me by my size." She takes one step back and shifts her weight a bit, "Ready when you are."

Raine Arland (604) has posed:
"The fighters are assembled and the match is set to begin!" Raine spoke clearly into the mic, watching the close up of the arena from a nearby screen. "This is going to be an interesting I say! Fragarach, how do you feel about this matchup?" He looked towards his co commentator and asked.

The white woman was silent for a bit before finally speaking up. "I would say they're about evenly matched. Sagat has trained his body to the pinnacle of human limits. Factor in his considerable manipulation of Chi, and his mastery of the Muay Thai martial arts, and he can be considered quite a force to be reckoned with. They don't call him the Emperor of Muay Thai for nothing after all."

Raine chuckled. "Of course, but you can't rule out Noble Six! She's made it this far after all! A testament to her burning fighting spirit and resolve! She's got the capability, and the will to dethrone the emperor and stand with the best at the top of the world. This is going to be a fierce bout. I can't even begin to make predictions."

Fragarach nodded. "Indeed. The match is starting. Lets see who gains the initial advantage."

Sagat (95) has posed:
"I learned a long time ago never to underestimate someone on the grounds of being shorter than I was," Sagat grunts, looking down at Noble Six. "I hope you're not expecting your armor to protect you overmuch."

Sagat also tends to look down (figuratively) on those who feel it necessary to use weapons or armor to fight; Taylor Scott managed to put a large dent in that disdain, but Sagat's warning isn't so simple as dismissal. He's fought armored foes before, even mechanical ones, and in some cases he actually HAS been able to overwhelm their defenses. He's going to have to be a little cautious with the unknown armored suit, but ...

Well. Punching cars into scrap with one's own fists (and feet, etc.) is still a common demonstration of skill and strength among the top tier of martial artists in Sagat's world. Noble Six's armor may not hold up much better once Sagat finishes taking its measure.

For now, though, the Emperor of Muay Thai un-leans from the spire and takes a few steps away, keeping his attention on Noble Six. "Whenever you're ready, then," he grunts, taking up his fighting stance.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
The armor is a normal part of her day to day getup. She's rarely ever without it, even when doing normal tasks. But she nods in response to him. The armor isn't designed for melee combat anyway, it's designed to take plasma blasts from Covenant weapons.

Still, she's going to have to use everything she knows about hand to hand combat to try to take him down. She moves in quick once he's ready, the plan being to land a rather simple and direct right cross to his abdomen. Body shots tend to help weaken everything else in a fight.

Sagat (95) has posed:
Then again, most opponents Noble Six has trained to take on don't have Sagat's level of not just training, but *conditioning*. Six's punch is brushed aside by a quickly-raised left knee, followed by a sweep of Sagat's right elbow to make sure the blow doesn't land anywhere that he considers critical.

"I'll take that as meaning you're ready," Sagat grunts, and then brings his left elbow down in a sharp rap to Noble Six's shoulder. This is still 'feeling out' just how sturdy her armor is, though - and thereby how much he needs to hold back, if at all, to ensure that his opponent can get back up and fight in the near future, win or lose. A matter of professional courtesy, really.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
The blow is sudden and unexpected and knocks her backwards from the force. No way for the shields to trigger against an attack like that, and she stumbles away from him. He moves way quicker than a guy his size should be able to, but she's pretty fast for wearing a half ton of armor.

She wheels around after she recovers from the momentary dazing that the blow gave her. The move is designed to allow her to deliver a kick with the back of her heel as she spins around, putting the full force of her momentum and the weight of her armor into it.

Sagat (95) has posed:
The kick connects fairly solidly, but Sagat's conditioning comes into play again. Muay Thai training doesn't strengthen just the fighter's muscles, but his *bones* as well - and unlike some martial arts that focus conditioning on the hands, a Muay Thai fighter strengthens all of the major points of contact, striking unyielding surfaces repeatedly, to the point of creating microfractures in the bone - microfractures which then heal up even stronger than before.

All of that toughening-up of the body makes the mind and the will tougher, too, and Sagat barely grunts as Noble Six's boot stomps against his belly. He *does* take a partial step backwards, but that's all.

And then he surges forward again, attempting to grab Noble Six and toss her - fairly lightly, really. Should he grab hold to make the throw, he's only going to chuck her a couple of meters to land on her back; it might knock the wind out of her.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
The throw catches her off guard, but at least she got some kind of reaction out of him. She knows she can do some damage, she'll just need to get creative about her attacks. Outright assaulting him doesn't quite work, but if she can use some unconventional attacks she'll be more capable of dealing damage.

She picks herself back up to her feet, moving in again. This time she doesn't go for an obvious strike, but moves to try to take him down by his legs. If she can get him down on the ground, she'd hopefully be able to manipulate that to her advantage

Sagat (95) has posed:
"Hngh - !!" grunts Sagat as the takedown *works* and he drops hard to the ground. Now if only he would stay down, right?

He doesn't. Lying on the ground when your opponent is standing is ALWAYS a disadvantage in Sagat's experience, and most of the fighters he knows put an immediate priority on getting back to their feet when felled even briefly; of course, lying down for too long is also usually taken as an indication of unconsciousness. And then there's those individuals who would use such a position to try and bait the opponent into vulnerability; Sagat has no truck with that kind of strategizing. He fights hard, but he doesn't resort to dirty tricks when he can avoid it. As such, he's back on his feet before Noble Six can capitalize on bringing him down ...

Then he hauls off and punches her in the helmet. Still actually holding back - but it's very clear that he's not holding back as much as he *was* before ...

Noble Six (38) has posed:
The blow to the helmet rocks her, and she stumbles again. He hits like a Sanghelli does. Unaugmented humans should never be able to hit with that kind of force, but she has to take a moment to remind herself: It is the Multiverse. There are people who can fight giant robots on foot. And this is one of them. Still she manages to stay on her feet despite the power behind the blow.

It worked well last time, so Noble Six makes a move like she's about to go for another takedown. But this time instead of actually shooting for it, she goes to bring a knee up into Sagat's gut, to try to catch him off guard with her own attack. Make him think she has one thing planned, and unleash something else.

Sagat (95) has posed:
Well, it *works*, at any rate; Sagat doesn't quite double over from the impact being driven into his gut, but he bends forward around it and there's an audible *whoof* of air being driven out of his lungs.

Noble Six probably can't see him grinning, though, in that position ... and it's probably just as well.

Sagat doesn't even bother straightening up before he tries to grab hold of Noble Six, then straightens up; if his hold on her is good, she's going to be lifted OVER HIS HEAD and flung away, distinctly harder than the earlier casual toss, and possibly getting thrown into the side of one of the rocky spires which dot the ground hereabouts.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
The spire Six gets thrown into is clearly a lighter color than the others around it, which is weird but it means it more easily collapses on top of her after she goes through it.

Of course she's not done, as she rises up from the wreckage of the spire holding a large chunk of stone over her head. It should be big enough to crush Sagat, should it land on top of him. She throws it with all the might she can muster.

Sagat (95) has posed:
Sagat is not immune to the element of surprise, it seems.

He also, in spite of the precedent set in the Pokemon Islands, is not exceptionally resistant to the element of rock; the thrown boulder DOES knock him off his feet, and actually pins his upper torso (and head) against the ground briefly before he manages to extricate himself from underneath it. (Bench pressing skills DO have their practical uses ...)

He's noticeably wobbly as he rises back to his feet, but that doesn't stop him from closing the distance and attempting to lay into Noble Six with a swift series of punches and elbow strikes.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
As he comes in towards her, Six plants her feet and prepares to defend herself. She manages to deflect a couple of the blows, but several strike hard, visibly denting in her armor in areas where it impacts. She's getting a lot of warning claxons inside of her helmet that are trying to alert her that she's taking damage, as if she didn't know already.

She knows she'll have to think fast, she needs to put a bit of space between herself and him, but he's been pretty good about blocking everything thus far. She decides to try something that worked in a prior fight, and she hauls back to headbutt him in the nose with her helmet.

Sagat (95) has posed:
Sagat's head is already somewhat rattled from the earlier rock, and the headbutt - particularly given the helmet Noble Six is wearing - doesn't improve matters; he staggers backwards, wondering briefly if his nose is broken, deciding it probably is, and -

"TIGER GENOCIDE!!!"

- lunging forward, leading with a leap and a rising knee and chaining from that straight into a MASSIVE uppercut, his fist rocketing upwards with such force that it seems like it's just pulling the rest of his body along behind it. Apparently that combination of hits was enough for him to snap a little bit, but he IS going right back on the offensive.

It may or may not be enough to reverse the momentum of the fight.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
So much for putting some space between them. The headbutt strikes clean, but doesn't phase her opponent as he unleashes a furious uppercut that shatters her helmet outright when it hits. She goes flying as well, landing hard on the ground, rolling over slightly.

The blonde super soldier tries to push herself back to her feet, the effort taking a couple of tries before she manages it. Once back onto her feet, she immediately goes back on the offensive herself, pushing her whole form straight back at Sagat. There's nothing elegant about this, it's simply a wild haymaker that'd be able to shatter steel or stone if it strikes home. She /can/ flip a tank, after all.

Sagat (95) has posed:
And as far as Sagat can tell, that haymaker might very well have shattered some bones. It certainly feels like it, and in honesty, cortical remodeling doesn't work that well on the facial bones - what are you going to hit with your face enough to gain the necessary benefits? Nobody's wired THAT way, at least not without getting themselves eliminated from martial arts training.

On the plus side for Noble Six, though, Sagat is so dubious about the structural integrity of his face that he's not trying to call any more attack invocations ... which is a pretty major handicap at this stage, since the 'form' for most of his high-end techniques *depends* on the shout as part of his focus to execute the technique. He's still got plenty of moves he can execute, though - and with his opponent's helmet shattered, her head exposed, he's got an even more vulnerable target to focus on.

She punched him in the face. That's fine, it's all part of a competition match that she doesn't want to lose. Sagat isn't going to take it personally ... but by the same token, when he tries to slug HER in the face, Noble Six had better not take it any more personally than Sagat did.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
She's getting close to the end here, she can feel it. Either he's going to go down or she is, she's not sure which yet, but she's never been one to back off without at least trying to push to the end.

After the haymaker, she takes a few steps back to re-situate herself, waiting for him to return. She should press the advantage but she knows he's too quick for that. When she sees the punch coming in towards her now vulnerable head, she falls backwards. It's not exactly graceful, but the blow misses by mere centimeters.

Now in freefall, she never the less kicks both of her armored boots out towards Sagat. She's going to hit the ground either way, but the inpromptu dropkick might be enough to make him reconsider his attack.

Sagat (95) has posed:
If Sagat is still thinking conscious thoughts in the moment that he hits the ground, disappointment is one of the more likely emotions running through his head. Irritation is another prime candidate - not at his opponent, but at himself; he's supposed to be better than this. He's one of THE best martial artists in his world, after all.

But then, the Multiverse isn't limited to just his own world. That's kind of the whole point.

The dropkick takes him full in the torso, knocking the wind out of him *again* and even more thoroughly than the earlier knee did, and the laws of physics being what they are, enough momentum is transferred by Noble Six's feet slamming into his body to drive him physically off his feet; he doesn't even have the wind in his lungs to yell in pain before his body slams to the ground, bouncing slightly from the impact, and slides to a halt. He showws no signs of getting back up this time.

Noble Six (38) has posed:
After she determines he's not getting back up, Six stops laying on the floor and pushes herself back up to her feet. She's hurting, bruised and battered, but the one still standing.

She moves over to where Sagat is down and hoists him up into a fireman's carry to take him over to the medical tent. She'll thank him for the fight when he awakens, but for now she wants to get her own needs taken care of as well.

Sagat (95) has posed:
If Sagat were conscious, he *would not* let himself be carried to the medical tent by an opponent who's physically smaller than he is (or more likely, by anyone). So just the fact that Noble Six CAN pick him up is pretty conclusive proof that yep, solid KO.
