Synopsis: Yang is bored. What does a Punch Girl do when bored? Fight someone!

Kamon answers this call.

Kamon learns that NOONE. MESSES. WITH THE DO!

Cast of Characters: 628, Yang Xiao Long

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Beacon Academy Ampetheatre. It's a LARGE room, easily large enough to hold 80 students and still have room to move around. The central stage is lit brightly, casting the rest of the room in deep shadows, dark enough that anyone on the stage would not be able to see those off of the stage.

Yang Xiao Long, blonde bombshell and Punch Queen extraordinaire, stands on the stage in her normal outfit, stretching and loosening up in preparation for a 'Duel'. Large screens show her Aura Level, Name and a Numerical read-out of the coloured bar, showing 100. Likely a percentile reading.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon's never been to Beacon Academy. It reminds him a little bit of Alexander Academy, but smaller-scale. He's fairly comfortable here as a result, even if he gets looks for the pieces of metal apparently sticking out of his face and the big ol' box he's toting around. Assuming that it's his weapon of choice is not /inaccurate/...

There's a 'thump' when he drops the crate -- no, /locker/, it looks like -- onto the edge of the stage. Kamon himself goes on up, squinting at the screens and the lighting choice on the way. "Huh. This is pretty nice," he remarks to nobody in particular. Then, he spots the blonde girl on the other end of the arena. He raises a hand in greeting. "Hey! You must be Yang. I'm Kamon. I guess I'm here for some practice." He smiles.

Kamon turns to the crate-like locker and opens it up along the front. It looks like it's full of different kinds of weapons, all of them melee. "I didn't know what to expect, so I figured I'd bring some variety in case you wanted to try your hand against a particular style. I don't know what's common, here, so..." He trails off.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang grins brightly at Kamon, looking at the locker of weapons with interest when it's brought up. "Yep, I'm Yang! Nice to meet you Kamon!" she replies, moving over to offer a hand. "Oh, don't worry about types. There's literally every kind you'd think of here. One of the older students uses a HANDBAG." she lets that hang for a moment, then smirks. "It turns into a machine gun." she adds on looking /entirely/ serious about it. "I prefer my weapon though."

She steps back, flicking her wrists down to her sides, deploying a pair of intricate metal gauntlets that cover the backs of her hands, and her forearms to the elbow. There's obviously some kind of ammunition in a rotating chamber around the wrist area. Orange shells with yellow tips. "This is Ember Celica, they're Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets."

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon takes the offered hand with a grin. He laughs at the mental image of a handbag for a weapon of choice, but the fact that it's also a machine gun makes him clear his throat. "Um, wow. That's... kind of ridiculous." He lets her hand go, watching the gauntlet transformation with obvious interest. He lets out a low whistle.

"That's something all right... are they projectile weapons?" He points a finger at the chambers. "No, it doesn't look quite... huh." Kamon scratches his head, and then just smiles instead. "I guess I'll find out pretty quick."

He steps back over to the small arsenal he's brought along, reaching in and retrieving a quarterstaff. He taps it against the stage. "I'll just have to adapt. So, how's this sort of thing go around here?" He looks up and around. "Should I be pulling my swings, or is there some kind of spell in place...?"

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
"Full Contact. Don't worry too much, I'm tough, and my Aura protects me from a lot of damage." she replies. "Dunno how it works for you though, so I won't use the Impulse shells, only Impact ones." different ammo types?

The blonde takes up a fairly wide stance, fists clenched as she bobs from one foot to the other. "Oh! Yeah, the big screen up there? It tracks my Aura level, once it drops below 20 percent, a buzzer'll sound and the match is over. Safety reasons." she explains, then makes the universal 'come at me' gesture.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
"I can take a few hits; I'm a Fighter, so I'm kind of expected to. I've got curatives on-hand for emergencies, though." Kamon pulls a small metal capsule out of his coat. He opens it up. Inside, there's three chalky balls and three small vials of liquid. "Two-part elixirs," he explains. "Crush a ball into powder and dump it on the wound, then pour on one of the vials."

"Just in case you hit me harder than you think," he adds. "Safety reasons, kinda like the buzzer."

Kamon puts the capsule away. Then, he steps up. The young Fighter takes a slow, deep breath, taking the quarterstaff in both hands. It's made of wood, and it's solid-looking, plain and unadorned. If there's something special about it beyond 'is a big stick,' it must be really subtle. He holds it across his body, angled upwards to his left side. "Ready?"

Well, if that isn't the universal 'go' sign...

Kamon moves in, closing the short distance between them in a few steps. He jabs the top end of the staff at Yang, testing her reaction, and then swings the bottom upwards in a diagonal strike immediately after. He's got good form, but he's being cautious. With all the unknowns at play, could she really blame him?

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang watches the footwork. Those watching could likely sees the tactical gears churning. This is a completely different fighter than most may have seen, or assumed, from her sheer energy, and near joy in fighting Grimm. Against an opponent like another Huntsman, she needs to be focussed, in control. Grimm are mindless, so a good brawling setup is largely ideal, another human is an intelligent foe, and will adapt to a simply 'swing away' approach very quickly.

Thus, she jukes to the left, bringing her gauntlets into the path of the diagonal strike with a resounding clang of wood against metal. She absorbs the strike, grunting a little bit as her Aura meter chips by 1 point, then pushes the staff aside, and fires a 'shot' from her gauntlet, in completely the wrong direction. A flare of flame ejects from the 'barrel' over the back of her hand, but propels her into a rapid spin, which she uses to enforce a round-house kick, aimed for Kamon's midsection. Another shot, and she spins back the other way just as quickly, bringing a haymaker left hook in on the opposite side.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
She's quick, Kamon thinks. She'd have to be, if she's short-ranged. Then, Yang fires in what looks like the wrong direction, and it takes a fraction of a second for Kamon to realize /why/. This is a fraction of a second less time he has to /dodge/.

Yang's kick connects. He's ready for it, so she hits him when he's tensed and prepared to get knocked around. He slides a couple inches across the arena floor, but doesn't lose his balance, even from the rocket-propelled hit. Yang finds him a /much/ heavier, more solidly-built target than he looks. Is he carrying bricks in his pockts or something?!

The sudden reversal doesn't catch him unawares. Kamon rotates the quarterstaff and takes a couple quick steps, catching her left hook on the middle of the staff. There's a monumental cracking sound, an echo of the previous strike of metal against wood. Instead of totally absorbing it, he uses the hit the propel himself away from her, giving himself more reach and swinging his whole body around in a quick spin. He chokes up his grip on the staff, wielding it more like a two-handed club and sending it into a spin that ends with a hard horizontal sweep just above waist-level.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang grunts with each strike. Jeeze this guy's heavier than an Ursa. His use of her strike to give himself space doesn't go unnoticed, but there's not much Yang can do when she's so far out of range. The sweeping spin catches her not entirely off guard, but certainly not able to block the strike fully in time. She staggers from the hit, stumbling sideways as she parries the last of the hit with her gauntlet. "Hehe, you're pretty good!" she says. Are those licks of fire in her hair? And what's with that glint in her eyes?

The blonde bunches up her stance, more like a boxer now with both gauntlets in front of her body. She rope-a-dopes in closer, jinking to the sides in a zig-zag approach, before lunging forward and deploying a flurry of rapid punches.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Weird things are going on with her while he fights her. He makes note of the fire and the glint in her eyes, but attributes it to either that Aura thing she mentioned or her being something like an Ifriti. Maybe fire just happens?

No time to think about it now. Kamon's staff goes into a near-spinning series of defensive positions, backpedaling as his posture and footwork changes to match her rapid strikes. There's a constant sound of metal pounding against wood, with a subtle noise mixed in that's a little harder to place. Kamon's being pressured towards the edge of the arena, but he's keeping himself from getting hit. Is he hoping to tire her out? The staff moves again, catching a punch --

-- and promptly snaps in half at the middle. Things seem to slow down for a span of seconds. Kamon can see splinters fly while his weapon parts, slowly folding towards Yang. He seems to be totally defenseless.

He most definitely is not. Kamon grips the two halves and immediately changes his stance and fighting style, becoming more evasive and moving with Yang's boxer-like rhythm. He ducks and weaves, striking back with quick, hard 'taps' that are meant to wear her down rather than send her flying. Her fists come terribly close to hitting him in the face over and over again. He /really/ doesn't want to know what it feels like to get punched in the nose by those gauntlets of hers.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang takes the hits and just keeps on trucking. They're clearly doing damage, as her Aura meter is steadily declining, 90, 85, 80, 75. But the flame in her hair, and that joyful glint in her eye just keeps getting more pronounced. Yang deflects one strike, then hops away, backflipping out of range for a moment. "That's a good warm up, you ready for the real fight?" she asks, devilish glee painted all across her face.

"Something you should know about Huntresses like me. We all have a special ability called a Semblance that comes from close training with Aura. It's part of who we are." she lifts her arms, then SLAMS her fists together, generating a small wave of force and flame to swirl around her, and making her hair gain a more luminous golden hue. "Mine, is Absorption. Every hit adds to my strength."

With that, she launches forwards, faster than before, and renews her assault, starting by ducking low, and aiming a haymaker uppercut through Kamon's center of mass!

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
The benefit of the Aura screen is that Kamon can see precisely how hard a licking he's giving her. As long as he checks it once in a while, he doesn't have to worry about going overboard. This realization alone is enough to make him relax and enjoy the fight. The lack of actual danger to her is a weight off his shoulders.

To himself? Well... that's not really relevant.

"Huh. That's a pretty useful ability," Kamon remarks. He watches the force-wave and the increasing flame apparently appreciatively. He is from a line of people who have made their living being flashy and deadly in equal amounts. "I suppose if we're going to be fair about this..."

Yang rushes him. Kamon interposes the sticks, crossing them in front of him, but she powers through the broken chunks of wood and feels her fist connect. He's all but lifted off the ground, his heels leaving the floor but the front of his shoes staying planted. He lands, head snapped up and back, and starts to fall. Both the sticks hit the ground with a clatter, starting to roll away.

Kamon catches himself, stumbling back and rubbing his jaw with his free hand. He ends up next to the box he brought. With his free hand, he blindly reaches into the interior and grasps the hilt of something. He yanks it out.

"You want to fight for real?" He smiles. It's good-natured, not at all mad that he got socked pretty hard. His steps become much more sure, and he starts back in towards Yang. "Alright. I don't wanna insult you, so..." He shrugs, turning it into a roll of the shoulders. Kamon inhales. "Here I come!"

By the time he's finished that last syllable, he's rushed forward. Kamon's stance and demeanor goes from 'solid and sure-footed' to 'lightning-fast and aggressive.' One second, he's standing at the edge of the stage, and the next, he's in Yang's face. There's a flash of steel, and he's holding an unadorned katana with his arm extended forward and past her. He just drew and struck in a single fluid motion, going from zero to on top of her in the blink of an eye. There's a yell along with it, a shout filling the <span class=" bold_fg_c bg_b ++ hamber.

         IAI BLOW

It may take Yang a second to realize he actually struck at all.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
SCHLUCK. Yang's eyes go wide as that katana blade is suddenly /past/ her. This doesn't do much /physically/ though it cuts a big chunk out of her 'Aura Rating'. She staggers back after a moment, then her eyes catch something flitter out of the corner of her eye. A few strands of golden hair float gently, serenely to the ground.

Now, three things happen all at once. The audience would notice those lilac eyes suddenly go blood red, Kamon would likely spot it too. The second thing is another kinetic burst radiates off the young woman and her hair goes /wild/ in the resulting wind, raising up and billowing out briefly. The third thing is... that playfulness? All gone.

Yang's next attack is full force, no holding back as she launches forwards faster than a blink. The only thing that tracks her movement is the flames trailing from her body, and the berserk, wordless howl as she aims a full body, straight punch into Kamon's chest area, throwing all her weight and every ounce of her acquired energy into that single punch.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon is too close to miss the hair falling and her eyes going wholly red. There is no chance these things are not connected.

In recognition of that, he decides he needs to be absolutely certain he can handle the next swing. A furious opponent is one that is powerful, unpredictable, and totally unreasonable. He should end this quickly, if for no other reason than so he doesn't hurt her.

It is perhaps worth mentioning that Kamon is completely aware of the possibility that she can and will maul him if he gives her the chance. He's just not the type of guy to think about his own well-being over someone else's.

Kamon moves back a step right before Yang lets loose with a furious strike. He slides to the side, twisting his body so her punch goes past him. It's a near thing -- even mad, she's /fast/, and Yang's fist scrapes across the front of his jacket... and connects with the gauntlet-like badge he's wearing, tearing it off and sending it flying across the room with a metallic 'ping!' It lands somewhere out of sight, but with that kind of force, Kamon is likely to find it embedded in a wall or some kind of seating.

His sidestep carries him alongside her. He glides past Yang, her full-force swing carrying her forward while he expertly maneuvers to get behind her. He takes his sword in both hands as soon as his arms are <span class=" fg_c bg_b ++ lear...

...and drives the pommel into her back, slamming it towards a point hidden amidst her hair.

It will hurt, but it doesn't do as much raw damage as he could. What it /should/ do is turn her legs into jelly and immobilize her, which would go a long way to keeping her still long enough to calm her down again.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang buckles. One drawback of her little berserker rage is it weakens her Aura for the duration. Higher damage output, less ability to /take/ damage. The usual berserker trade off. The pommel strike sends her sprawling, sliding across the floor with her momentum until she unceremoniously falls off the stage.

The screen buzzes, Yang's Aura meter dropping from 50 to 15 with that single hit. The lights gradually come back up, lighting the rest of the ampetheatre and showing Yang sprawled out in a heap of 'ugh', her gauntlets having retracted back to their stand-by form from a safety trigger.

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon exhales slowly after delivering the hit. He straightens, taking stock of himself. He's missing his badge. He really hopes its still in one piece --

Kamon abruptly drops his sword on the stage and runs for the near edge. He jumps down, careful not to land on Yang, and helpfully (well, he thinks so) kneels down to put her in a position that is not 'a heap of limbs and hair, possibly face-down.' She's going to have a hard time moving for a little bit, so it's the least he can do.

"Sorry! Sorry! Are you okay?" Kamon sounds both sincerely apologetic and legitimately concerned, despite the fact that Yang just flipped out and tried to make him eat his own small intestine. He might be dense, or a legitimately good person. Its hard to tell.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang groans a little bit. As she recovers, her eyes flutter open and it's obvious that red hue is indicative of her berserk state, as they remain red for a moment, then between blinks, return to the usual lilac. "What happened?" she asks, then pushes herself to a sitting position. "Aww man, I lost." Seems she doesn't remember, or is pointedly not bringing up her little... reaction. "You're really strong! Wouldn't mind going again some time!" she says, grinning that same affable grin again.

    Maybe she's bipolar?

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon stares down at Yang for a moment, unsure if she's going to get up and deck him. When it turns out she doesn't, he... continues staring, because he's not sure she /shouldn't/ remember /wanting/ to do the aforementioned punching.

"Uh... you kind of... went a little berserk, at the end, there, so I paralyzed you. A little. Are you alright? Can you stand?" Kamon has no idea if that Aura of hers will let her recover from that so quickly, too. "Um... yeah! Maybe you can show me some of the other things your weapons of choice can do, next time. Those were some pretty slick moves."

Note to self: do not mess with the hair.

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang tilts her head slightly, then shakes herself out. "Oh, yeah, feel kinda heavy but it's wearing off. Our Aura helps protect us from harm, remember? It also helps seal up minor wounds and stuff." She shrugs her shoulders. "Oh, that's... a thing that happens sometimes. I don't dwell on it. Sorry if I roughed ya up or anything."

She grins again at the mention of 'slick moves' "Thanks! Dad taught me everything I know. He's one of the best Huntsmen around."

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
"Huh. Yeah, alright." One worry out of the way, then.

"He definitely knew his stuff. Mine taught me most of my moves, too. Kind of a family tradition." Kamon sits down on the edge of the stage, next to his mostly-portable armory. "I guess it doesn't really work the same way in most worlds as it does back home, though. Yours seems pretty nice up here," he comments. "But I guess I gotta wonder..."

Kamon looks upwards, expression thoughtful. "If you're not the outlier -- I mean, you mentioned someone with a handbag machine gun -- what've you got to deal with around here that you need that kind of skill and firepower?"

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
"The Creatures of Grimm." Yang replies, resting her arms on her knees as she sits on the floor, looking up at Kamdon. "They're monsters. Noone knows exactly where they came from or why they attack Humans and Faunus on sight, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are there to keep the rest of the population safe." she shrugs. "We're the big heros like in those story books you might've read when you were a kid, going out, saving the day and getting the girl... or guy, whichever." she smirks a bit. "Ruby, my little sister, was a real sucker for those stories."

The blonde then leans back on her hands. Stretching her legs out in a languid display. "I guess that's why she tries so hard, and how she got into Beacon two years early."

Kamon Lionward (628) has posed:
Kamon, being a (mostly) flesh-and-blood teenager, can appreciate a leggy blonde stretching out. It is however somewhat less important in the broader sense than some kinds of monsters menacing a whole world. He can relate to monstrous menacing. It's kind of a thing he deals with.

"We've got monsters all over on Galianda," Kamon says, "so those stories are all over, too." He smiles. "You must be pretty proud. Though..." The smile proves short-lived. "...I know what it's like to have a relative put themselves in danger." He gets up, sighing. "Terrifying and thrilling at the same time, all the way up till the end."

Kamon retrieves his sword and the pieces of the staff. He packs up the box of weaponry, too. "Listen, I know you only know me from a fight and a few words on a radio, but if you need a hand dealing with those creatures, I'll be here. Me and my friends, we know how to handle ourselves, and I know I'm not the only one who won't stand by while monsters run amok."

He hefts the box one-handed. He's /really/ strong. "I should probably get going, though. I've got class later."

Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang stands up, wobbling a little bit as her Aura reasserts itself. "Whoooah, okay, there we go." She shakes herself out, then claps Kamdon on the shoulder. "I'll keep that in mind. Alexander Academy, right? A girl called Cirra's helped out a couple of times already from there. Ozpin's made a few arrangements with the Union, so, yeah. Feel free to come by any time." she grins, "I should head back to the dorms, gonna need to sleep for a week after that workout!" she jokes, then starts heading out herself. "Looking forward to seein' you again, Kamdon!"
