Teaching a Cat to Skate
Date of Scene: 30 January 2016
Location: Hikari Sea Port
Synopsis: With Staren's interest in the equipment, Nagato offers to teach him.
Cast of Characters: Staren, Nagato

Nagato has posed:
Mid day, the sun is out and nice and it's an overcast day, a light wind rushes through the base cooling down everything it touches. However, today was a day that she was waiting for, another possible Destroyer to teach... now to hope he finds everything okay. Nagato stands in front of the docks and the launch bay with Akashi standing next to her, waiting for Staren to come along. It's here that Akashi speaks up, "So we're just waiting for him to come? Do you think he'll adapt well?"

Nagato gives a bit of a shrug, "I do not know, but we will see. He has been interested in it but he... is unique about the gear. I feel he will analyze the gear more than the training." Akashi shakes her head, "We'll see. I never made equipment for a guy before, so we'll see how this works out, shall we?"

Staren has posed:
Staren shows up! The outfit makes him look like a schoolboy, he thinks, but whatever -- when in rome, right? He's also still wearing his magic bag, hanging by his side from a shoulder strap -- it's in a waterproof carrying case of some sort. He waves to Nagato and Akashi, "Hey! Sorry about messing the last one up, I should have done those tests on cloth that /wasn't/ made into an outfit..." he at least looks embarassed about it. "So..." He runs his hand through his hair, "Let's see how this all works, although I can't promise I'll end up fighting this way. Supporting you guys from the air, I can carry a lot more armament... but then, any weapons you develop are small enough for me to carry and still hit as hard as battleship-size weapons, right? So maybe that'll more than compensate."

Nagato has posed:
It's a good thing Mutsu wasn't here right now. A very good thing. Nagato eyes Staren with a curious gaze, mainly to the bag. "It's ok. We can make more if needed." she gives a sigh, looking towards Akashi, "You blew the last one up?! Jeeze, what did you use, a nuclear bomb?" Nagato gets a very uncomfortable look at those two words being spoken. "If you find that other ways are your calling, I am not going to force this upon you." Nagato turns around and heads into the area, it looks to have been extended by three bays as there's a seven, eight and nine bay there. "Please go step on the eight bay's platform."

When the mention of battleship-sized weapons is made, she shakes her head, "Unfortunately, they will not hit like a battleship. We've not been able to get those ready, nor will the fairies cooperate or do well. It's a fleet's pride to be a battleship and they wish to only be on people who are compatable."

Akashi perks up, "Plus they'll tire out easy without assistance."

Staren has posed:
Staren blinks. "Nuclear bombs are expensive and best used from far away. I tested it against bullets, lasers, and missiles." he answers straightforwardly. He nods at Nagato's explanation of the weaponry. "Ah. I understand." He walks out to the number eight bay. "So, um..." he looks out over the water, "Don't I still need those prop things for my feet?"

Nagato has posed:
When Staren approaches the bay, the card above the doors flips around and produces his name in Kanji. Warning sirens are heard as the doors to the launch bay are opened, letting water flood in for the eventual launch. "You will get them." Akashi smiles, watching the launch rail get ready. The pad, glowing to indicate 'assault' and 'destroyer' starts to flash as the floor splits away a bit, latching onto Staren's feet and in quick progression, starts bolting metal to metal, encasing the ankle and a few inches above in armor. The soles of his shoes get the standard pontoons and rudder attachment and the floor gives way to send the cat going forward at a high rate of speed.

he sound of chains moving starts to bring up the back rigging, allowing for the engine... though, it slams into his back, fortunately without any pain... and with armatures to secure it around his waist. Arms move out quickly to strap on the two pairs of three tube torpedo launchers to his thighs and a simple twin barreled gun is lowered to grab onto for armament.

Staren has posed:
"Well yeah but... when?" Staren asks. And then he gets a freaking MAGICAL GIRL TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE or... something like that. "Aah what the?!" he exclaims, and struggles to stay upright, although once he's recovered from his surprise he doesn't seem to have a problem remaining stable. When he realizes what's going on he watches with pleased interest as the parts connect. This is actually pretty cool!

"Okay. /That/ was cool!" He looks over his gear. "...So, uh... how do I control it?" he calls back over the water, looping around to stay close to the shore.

Nagato has posed:
It's a VERY good thing Mutsu isn't here...

Nagato takes her place on the launch pad and down she goes, equipment getting bolted on and set up, it's considerably a lot fancier when the Battleships do it. Turrets are lowered onto the rigging, this time, it's fourty six inch triple barrel turrets. The largest on base. "Some skate, others lean. It's up to the fairy and you to discuss that." as she moves a bit to the side of Staren.

It's there that a Fairy pops out of the back rigging, crawls up the shoulder and sits, turning to face Staren with the biggest frown on its face. "That's your engineer. She helps get you going." calls Akashi from the docks, "You have three more fairies, two for your torpedo racks and one for your gun. Get to know them, they will be with you when you use the gear. In addition, once you've greeted them, they will listen to what you need."

Staren has posed:
"Uhh," When Nagato mentions the fairies, he's about to ask /how/ to talk to them when suddenly shoulderfairy! He almost falls over when he jumps in surprise! "I see, so I just tell them when to fire weapons and stuff? Umm... hi there. Why are you so cross? I haven't /done/ anything yet!"

Nagato has posed:
The fairy still looks a bit cross, tapping her foot. It doesn't say anything either for the lack of speech or some other purpose. Nagato looks and shakes her head, "Give her a name." she starts, listening in, "And yes, however, you still have to aim some of them. They understand cardnial directions and they understand degrees. Movement, however, is all done by you, the fairies just assist to make sure you aren't tired while moving." Nagato looks between the fairy and Staren...

This will be a long training session.

Staren has posed:
"Umm... is it really okay to name her when I don't even know if I'll keep using this gear?" Staren asks.

Nagato has posed:
Nagato gives a brief nod, "I have a feeling you may use it a lot more once we are done. But it's just a feeling." she slowly starts moving forward, making large circles around Staren. "Just start moving first. We are going to just try sailing for right now. It shouldn't be too hard to just lean forward and go.." Akashi, meanwhile, is sitting at the docks, watching the little spectacle.

A few other Kanmusu start gathering around, with all three Sendai sisters moving to sit near Akashi. "What do you think that he'll fall on his face when he starts moving...?" "Naka-chan thinks... he will. ANd then I can write a song for it an.." *thwap* "Ow... Sendai..."

Staren has posed:
"Uhhhh... as long as she can be reassigned if needed..." He considers names. If it were a boy fairy, Scotty would be the obvious choice! Scotti doesn't really work as a female name, though. "I guess you can be Sarah." He says to the fairy, for reasons known only to him. "And I'll go with skating." He waits for her to go... wherever she goes, and then starts making skating motions on the water, as if he were wearing rollerblades and trying to accelerate. "Like this?"

Nagato has posed:
It's then that the fairy cheers up and dives back into her home in the rigging and once Staren pushes off, he'll find it somewhat easy to move in the water, waves kicking up on the side with each skating motion. "Be careful, too much speed and you'll crash." Nagato states, looking back at the three cruisers and the repair ship on the docks. "We'll just practice moving for a while with the equipment, I will schedule a day when you can actually do a live fire test with your equipment..."

Staren has posed:
Staren tries to maintain speed instead of accelerating. "Oh? How much is too much?" He's a little disappointed he won't get to try the weaponry. "You're sure you don't have anything I can use as a target? I mean... moving doesn't seem so hard..." He waves his hands to indicate his feet. "Although as heavy as this stuff is, I'll probably get tired pretty quick... Hmm, there's another problem..." He frowns.

Nagato has posed:
Nagato frowns, "As I said, the fairies are assisting, you shouldn't get tired." she looks towards the docks and shakes her head, "They provide a lot of the assistance to make sure you can do everything. And yes, she can be reassigned to someone who can use her to the full effectiveness." she starts sailing back towards the docks, "I have nothing set up for you to use as a target, I did not intend for a live fire training today, only movement so you can get comfortable with the equipment."

Staren has posed:
Staren ohs and nods, "I see..." He continues skating, trying it with hands clasped behind his back if the gear isn't in the way. He follows Nagato. After a moment of silence he says, "...I'm sorry that I'm not as... hopeful about making this a key part of my arsenal. It's just... I want to fight with all the strength I can. I know you said Amakasu found her destroyer soul, but... She's am amateur swordswoman. She supplements it with a spirit, but I presume she can still use it together with her equipment. I have a /giant battle robot/. What matters to me is helping you defeat the abyssals, not making you happy or fitting in here. I'm curious about how all this works, but when it comes to making sure I can hit the Abyssals as hard as possible... I'm sorry if I'm disappointing you." He looks a bit... awkward, knowing he's probably breaking some social protocol or other, but he's gotta be honest.

Nagato has posed:
Nagato shakes her head, "It's not that, I just think you'll be better in your giant battle robot than this gear. You said yourself you would be better in it as well." She continues her way towards the docks, looking back towards Staren.. There's no emotion on her face, just that stoic admiral-face she gives everyone most of the time. "You're not dissapointing me at all, this isn't for everyone, and I'm not going to thrust this on anyone who can't or doesn't want to use this."

Nagato gives a bit of a sigh, "You can help in your robot, it will probably be more useful than what I can do with this gear for you."

Staren has posed:
Staren continues to follow. He doesn't know how to get the gear /off/ on his own, after all. "Thank you for letting me try it! This /is/ pretty cool, at least. And I'd still like to learn more about how you make it, and... where do the fairies come from, anyway?"

Nagato has posed:
"I'll save that for another time, Staren." Nagato gives a brief nod as the gear gets removed while coming back into the bay.. "Perhaps I can see if Akashi can make a civilian version for you..."
