Pokemon Hatching Marathon
Date of Scene: 14 August 2016
Location: Pokemon World
Synopsis: A fun little scene where people try to hatch Pokemon Eggs.
Cast of Characters: 188, 20, Athela Valemore, 686, 11, 673, Sanary Rondel

Lute (188) has posed:
Nimbasa City, Unova Region. The Big Stadium. A large stadium, built for big scale sporting events. In it's off time, it is usually used for other random events, or practice. Today? Lute has requested it for the purpose of a little hatching experiment.

The sun shines down upon the open-air stadium. The field currently looks like a large Olympic sized race track. The red rubbery track is nice and clean. Balloons are hung up through the stadium, decorated to look like Pokemon Eggs. On one side of the stadium, near the spot where a team enters? A table has been set up. Upon it, masses of Pokemon Eggs.

Lute stands near the table, arms crossed. He's wearing his standard 'labcoat and jeans, minus shirt' outfit. He stands at attention, waiting for people to come out. A number of families are in the stands. It's not /many/ people watching this event. A lot of kids and their moms, mostly. Kids who just want to see a Pokemon hatched. Lute looks up at the groups of people, giving a big wave to them, and then a thumbs up.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
She's not really sure /why/ she decided to come here, but hey, idle curiousity or whatever. It's not like Toph knows much about Pokemon to begin with, but with nothing better to today the earthbending master had decided to stop by. Perhaps there will be some cool earth pokemon or something! Or metal ones, that would be even cooler.

The blind teenager walks into the stadium, clad in casual clothes befitting a warm summer day; a loose t-shirt, shorts, a cap on her head, her satchel flung over her shoulder as she heads on over to the tables. Of course she can't miss the 'sight' of Lute however. It's been about a year since she last met him... and considering what happened then it might not be too strange that she isn't exactly beaming. Or maybe it's because of the whole weird Team Lute thing that totally wasn't a thing. And if it was a thing it would have had a different name, like something cool.

"Do they usually hatch at the same times or something...?" Toph inquires curiously as she walks up to the table. Maybe she would actually get a look if the eggs were on the ground...

Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore has been trying to learn more about the other worlds pertaining to Pokemon that populate the Multiverse. She sees enough of the battling side of things in Bayern as is, so an event about breeding and hatching eggs sounded like a preferable place to start.

In what will likely be stark contrast to everyone else present, she's still suited up in her armor like usual. Granted it's not heavy, full suit of plate armor or anything cliche like that. But in this much more modern world it really stands out. (Unless you've seen Team Plasma's grunts and their armor cosplay uniforms.)

Though she only gets a few steps before stopping to take an awed look around the stadium. "This certainly be the most elaborate colloseum I hath ever seen."

Her halt is so sharp that the Timburr following her bumps into her back. Athela teeters a little, but keeps her footing as her Eevee weebles to the side and lashes her tail to stay balanced on the young woman's shoulder. "Aheh. Sorry, Mizzen. Did not mean to cut short on you."

"Burr," the pokemon replies dismissively as he rubs his head, then grabs his plank and gets back onto his feet.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Hatching Pokemon! Gakupo's familiar with the concept of these tiny (and not so tiny) monsters, and he's always wondered how creatures that are apparently mammals hatch from eggs. That's how it works, right? Then again so is the platypus, and... well, yes. Therein is the trouble; the Vocaloid does not know! So he's heading there to find out.

He's showed up in a pair of dark blue knee-length shorts, a lavender t-shirt, and running shoes! Since he does expect to be doing the running. His long purple hair's still bound up in its high topknot, still nearly reaching his ankles despite being bound high on his head.

Perhaps he doesn't recognize Lute, because he doesn't make any kind of upset looks in his direction. Then again, Gakupo hasn't had any major run-ins with Lute that he can really remember. Of course, 'electronic' memory doesn't equal 'infallible' memory, after all. He DOES still need processing space, and the older the memories, the bigger the chance the space that holds them will get overwritten.

Anyway. Gakupo wanders in the direction of the table as well, looking at the eggs, and then at Lute. "Hello there," he greets, with a polite nods of his head and a smile. Toph's question draws his attention, and he greets, "Oh! Hi there!" He knows Toph, apparently, given the more familiar tone. Athela's presence draws his attention in her direction with a blink of bright azure eyes. But he greets her and her team nonetheless, with a polite bow. That is not a casual-dressed man's bow, despite the t-shirt and shorts; that is a knight's bow.

Metal Man (11) has posed:
So even combat androids do like to take time off. Metal Man has known Lute for a long timeand did consider him a friend so here he was to see the hatching and he was joined by several other Wily Robots. Metal while not dressed casually his helmet was removed and scraggly brown hair looked, if he'd been human you might think he was German. Along with him was Wood Man and Crash Man who seemed to be in good spirits.

"We should take more time off, this beast dealing with Mega Man."

Woodman notes while Crash Man is off looking to see about getting something to drink. Sure they didn't need to but all the Wily robots did have biodisel backup power plants. It wasn't perfect but hey? Beside Metal Man had long grown fond of Green Tea and Sake due to Shadow Man.

"Lute."

Then Metal Man sees Toph and feels a pang of fear, it's a metal bender. he makes notes to not /anger/ Toph in any way shape or form today.

Rory White (673) has posed:
One of the people who's come is... well, few people are going to recognize her. But the news of a Pokemon Hatching has drawn the attention of Rory White. A solidly built (in more ways than one) young bluenette dressed up in a fancied-up labcoat, one perhaps designed more for style than cleanliness or utility. Almost something a traditional mage or a priestess from some RPG might wear...

And Rory has a very eccentric person to thank for the entire appearance.

She spends a moment adjusting her hair while walking up, keeping her sight of the event clear!

Lute (188) has posed:
Lute turns to Toph. Truth be told? He's actually really surprised to see her coming here. They have a bit of a... history. He realizes, after a moment, that it's a bit hard for her to actually 'see' the eggs. As such, he grabs one, and puts it on the grass near the table. Toph actually would be able to tell a lot more about this Pokemon egg than most could, due to her powers. After all, what is inside is a Geodude.

"Nah, not usually," Lute notes. "Most of them I have /some/ idea of when they should hatch. All within the next few days. We're just testing an urban legend, though, that if you run around with a Pokemon, it'll hatch faster." He reaches under the table. There is a pile of things /under/ it too. Boxes, holding something... Specifically, cloth slings that are meant for holding children. Wordlessly, he walks to Toph, tossing it around her, and sliding the egg into the sling.

A glance is given to Athela as she shows up. He blinks slightly, sliding his hands into his labcoat pockets as he does so. He /does/ know of Team Plasma, but that outfit... No. It isn't right, at all. Someone from another land...? He'll shrug it off for now. "...Newcomer, eh? I'm Logan Trieste, codename, 'Lute.' Pokemon Professor. Glad to have yet another lovely lady here, to help out a bit with this egg hatching thing."

Gakupo gets a bit of a wave as well, Lute assuming his introduction wsa soon enough ago that he heard. "Hey. Grab a baby sling, and an egg, just like Toph has." He motions to the slings.

A blink as he looks towards Metal Man, and the two other Wily bots. He actually didn't /know/ that they had a way to take off their helmets. Hell. Crash Man has /hands/? He barely even glances towards Rory at first, too distracted by the robots. He finally waves at her, nodding to her as well. His eyes linger on her, too. A woman in a labcoat...? Lovely.

He starts to hand out eggs, multiple distractions in his mind. He had planned to give everyone an appropriate Pokemon, but he's just handing them out to random people, now. With... unfortunate results. Metal Man gets a Honedge egg. Crashman, a Voltorb Egg. Woodman? Slugma. Athela is handed an egg for a Flabebe, and Rory, the egg for a Grimer. For Gakupo? A Whismur egg.

"Now! Everyone, line up. It's less a race, more a marathon. The longer you can run, the better! Let's see if this really /does/ make eggs hatch faster!"

Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore for a moment is distracted from her admiration of the stadium by Gakupo. Despite his current attire that was definately a gentleman's bow, so she returns it in kind. "A good eve to ye as well, sir." Then swings her attention back the other way, actually noticing Toph now. "And you also, Toph." Though the metalbender gets a more casual wave, as they have met before, and Athela knows Toph isn't exactly the 'formal' kind.

Okay, the fellow apparently in charge of this is introducing himself. The redhead tilts her head a little to the side at 'professor', but then her expression brightens when she manages to click new terminology and what she's familiar with together. "Ah, yes, a scholar." She gives a brief bow to him as well. "Athela Valemore. If ye have prehaps heard of the land of Bayern; we also have Pokemon but your world is very... different."

She stands up, just in time to have the egg handed to her. "Ah, yes. We have similar lore." The way she holds the egg up a bit to inspect it shows she at least has some familiarity with eggs and breeding. "Cannot say I reconize this pattern."

Sprite leans from her shoulder a bit to put an ear against the egg, then shakes her head. "Vee." Sounding almost disappointed.

Athela laughs softly in return. "I am fairly sure it is not an Eevee, no."

Now we just have to figure out this sling thing.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The arrival of a certain Pokemon Knight doesn't escape Toph's notice, and she does seem to smile as she turns her head slightly. "Figured you guys would come here, huh?" No, Athela is right. The girl isn't stuck on formalities, and she seems to prefer keeping things casual when she can.

Likewise, Gakupo as well gets a nod in greeting. "Been a while, huh?" she notes in good humour.

Metal Man and his companions luckily doesn't seem to draw much attention from the girl, which might help him calm down somewhat. If she had reason to be angry with anybody today it might be Lute. Rory too isn't somebody Toph has been spending much time with, so the blind teen doesn't react much besides giving Rory a brief wave of her hand.

There's actually a slightly surprised look on Toph's face when Lute, who obviously knows well enough how she 'sees' after some years of fighting both together and against the other, places the egg into the grass. The earthbender crouches down and places her hand on the ground next to the egg, a curious look on her face. Hmmm. Well, this might be a coincidence. Yet she can't help but look a bit skeptical when he declares that walking with the eggs will make them hatch sooner. "That sounds like utter crud. I mean, it's not like that pregnant women will give birth sooner by walking a lot." It sounds like complete nonsense in Toph's opinion at least! Though she doesn't seem to have a choice when Lute presents her with the sling in a rather forward manner. "Hey!" she half protests, about to take the sling off... but then he's already placed the egg into the sling. So instead she sighs. There's no way she would actually harm the egg or anything, because that would just make her into an asshole, wouldn't it?

She stands by as the other people are handed eggs, waiting patiently while she makes sure to adjust the sling so she can be sure she can move the most efficiently all while keeping the egg safe. And Lute confirms it by stating that they need to focus on distance and keeping their pace steady. Which means that the best way to do so is to use her bending, of course! "Let's see who can hatch their egg first!" Toph declares with a grin, then kicks into the ground, causing it to rise underneath her feet into a wave... and she's off!

Rory White (673) has posed:
Rory had shown up intending to watch eggs hatching! The prospect of RUNNING with an Egg... gets her worrying quickly. The girl frowns at the unusually large Egg that's landed into her clutches. A rapid series of calculations about this urban legend has her immediately coming to a few conclusions...

Which she doesn't hesitate to point out in gentle tones. "Um... Professor Lute, you have a control group of un-run eggs from the same clutch for comparing results? And this seems a little dangerous. Someone could trip, and..." And there goes an egg.

Which is probably why she's frowning. There's a very high likelihood of tripping here, if she wants to AT ALL keep up with the others...

Although she does go for a sling, and... the weird part is that her outfit begins ADJUSTING ITSELF. Her long, billowing robeskirt starts shrinking and tightening into pants.

Rory reacts to Toph's wave with one of her own and a faint nod. Metal Man does get an extra peering at, being a noteworthy source of radio signals in an area that doesn't have many otherwise...

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo watches Lute putting the sling around Toph, and then as Lute explains, the Vocaloid nods. "Oh! That makes sense," he replies. "Maybe it's the movement?" he suggests. He has no idea, and it probably approaching things from an even more alien perspective than most, since he's completely artificial. Biological things confuse him sometimes. Not to worry, though, he did indeed hear the introduction. And in response, he offers, "Pleased to meet you. I'm Kamui Gakupo."

Nonetheless, he grabs one of those baby-carriers and puts it around himself, just as Lute's handing out the eggs. The egg he's handed is slipped into the baby-carrying pack. And he nods to the words of a marathon. "Here's hoping!" he says.

He does notice Athela's bow, and smiles. It's rare to see that sort of thing in these times, even in his own world. Though the Multiverse makes that a little less of a concern. Anyway. Toph's words get a nod. "It has been, yes," he agrees, with a smile. Though he chuckles as she starts off to run, with her bending carrying her down the track.

He notes that Athela seems to be having a bit of difficulty with her sling, and heads in her direction. "Hello there," he offers. "Do you need some help?" He's not concerned with 'catching up' to anyone, since as was pointed out, it's not exactly a race.

Metal Man (11) has posed:
Metal Man grins at Lute for a momentand pauses to also look the way that Lute is looking. The young lardy certainly was attention grabbing, and one eyebrow at her. He looks to Rory for a moment.

"Yo, the name is Metal Man."

Metal's Man's voice is almost netural of any english accent and it's clear he's speaking such. Meanwhile he and his brothers take the eggs in hand, the Masters seem to understand they are caring for a young lifeform.

The make ready to run and he's also looking back at Rory she's giving off signals much like one of his own would. He was certainly curious about that, however as he and his brothers line up? They are making ready to get into the race. He's also trying to ahem to draw Toph's attention, he knows what she can do. Seriously little girls with power are the most scary thing in the Multiverse.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary was totally here on time! She definitely didn't lose track of time trying to stab things and failing miserably. Really! Still, it looks like she's not too late even as she jogs towards the group gathered by the eggs, waving a bit and apparently wearing more exercise-worthy t-shirt and shorts combo for today's experiment.

"Heeey! Hey. Uh. Hey, Lute. Things just getting started?" She looks just a little winded even as she flashes Lute a wide grin, picking up one of the slings for herself and trying to figure out how to get it on properly. She freezes up just a bit when she spots Toph, though. It could really get awkward if she ends up saying the wrong thing, so she takes a deep breath and calls upon all the dignity and casual-ness she can muster!

"Er. Hey, Toph. Sorry about the... Almost drowning thing." So smooth.

Lute (188) has posed:
Lute has heard there were people from new Pokemon realms showing up. He hadn't heard the name Bayern yet. He would probably, if he had read his reports more thoroughly. He nods at her though, giving a bit of a bow. He stands up straight again, sliding his hands into his pocket. "Mm. The egg contents will be a surprise for everyone! If you manage to hatch it, hey, then you'll see! But. Not an Eevee for you, but could be something /else/ cool, right?" Encouragement, to keep people going.

And then Toph takes off, earth-surfing with her bending skills. He stares after her, a blank look on his face. He is at a complete loss. He wants to tell her that isn't how the old wive's tale works, but... That would involve /catching up to her/.

He lets Gakupo help Aletha with the sling. He /could/ help, and thus get closer to the woman before him, but.... Eh. Not the priority today.

The hesitation from Rory is dismissed, Lute lifting his hand to shake at the air a little. "Ahh! I got a control group. And don't worry. Just go at your own pace, and be careful. Pokemon Eggs are pretty sturdy. If you're worried, go ahead and just walk." He blinks a little as her outfit readjusts itself, though. He actually kneels down a little, looking at the fabric as it shifts. He mutters to himself, "Fascinating..."

Lute looks towards Sanary as she arrives late, shaking his head a little. Still, it's cute, how much she's rushing. As she gets close, when he feels no one is looking? He leans in to give her a quick little kiss on the cheek. Soon after, he tosses the baby sling around her. He actually /does/ have a Pokemon prepicked for her, specifically. He slides it into her sling, patting her on the shoulder. "...Sanary. You're terrible at apologies. Also you came to a running event by running here."

Athela Valemore has posed:
"I think she was more disappointed than I am," Athela calls back to Lute. Then lets out a slightly embarassed sigh at Gakupo's offer to help. "Appreciated. I have helped my uncle with his Buizel breeding on several occasions, but we use nothing like this." With Gakupo's help though she gets the sling on properly and the egg tucked in place. "Much better."

Only for Toph to take off ground surfing. "He said this wasn't a ra -- Oh bother. Mizzen, stay here." The redhead takes off sprinting to get back onto the track.

The Timburr gives a bit of a 'whatever' shrug, shoves one end of his board into the ground, gives it a good smack on top with his fist, then hops up to sit on it at watch.

She may not be exceptionally fast, but Athela does keep a good stride even in combat armor. Granted she's not wearing a full suit, but it's still a good clip.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Why wouldn't Toph make a race out of this? She's known to go at things in her own pace, and well... she's known to show off.

As it is the blind teenager keeps one hand around the egg in the sling, using her other arm and legs to keep her earthen wave moving forward in a steady pace as she begins going around the edge of the arena. She does turn around slightly to face Athela though when she calls after her. "Since when did I listen to what Lute says?" she calls back, having no problems in keeping the earthen wave rolling even if she isn't facing in the direction that she is going. Oh yes, quite a show off.

Perhaps it's a good thing that she was already racing when Sanary arrives. Perhaps the others don't notice the slight reaction she has as her eyes widen a bit, and she quickly turns back on the earthen wave, yelling back at Sanary. "WHAT? I can't hear you over this earth!" And around she goes to the other side of the arena as she keeps on moving. What is it with Confederates trying to get her attention today? Does Metal Man think she's about to bend him after what happened ages ago in the mine? Hardly.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo nods to Athela's thanks. "You're welcome," he notes. "These are... well, normally you put actual human babies in them to carry them. But today we're carrying eggs. Let's see how this works, hm? Maybe it's true, they'll hatch faster!" He seems excited at the prospect. And as Athela begins to jog to head onto the track, so does he. This is why the casual outfit and running shoes, to make this easier!

One might expect Gakupo, as a machine, to just take off and tear up the track, but... he doesn't. He has stamina on his side, being that he doesn't have muscles to get tired, but he's not too terribly much faster than a well-trained human when he's going his fastest. And here he's not going his fastest. He's worried about distance, not speed. It's a steady pace of running; aside from the purple hair (which in retrospect might not be as weird in a Pokemon world as first thought), he looks like a normal human running around the track.

Metal Man (11) has posed:
Metal Man and his brothers are running with thier eggs and taking good care of them. Metal Man has no issues with anything that might get in his way. He has no idea wht he has but he keeps running and he doesn't mind thigns too much but? He may have a Grabby copter flying over the race right now to keep an eye on everything. He keeps moving he doesn't think she's going to well strike out over old things. He's more concerned about setting her off, so he's going to keep moving while Toph is busy with things. He's still howeverr wondeirng about Rory and just what's up with her.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Okay, maybe the jog over took a bit more out of Sanary than she thought it would. She had been feeling fine right until she stopped to talk. Sure, she had been training for most of the day, but... But still! She's not supposed to be this out of shape! Luckily for her, that self-depreciation is cut off by that peck on the cheek and a flustered stammer from the healer as she reaches over to mess with Lute's hair.

"Wha... H-hey! I'm trying. I just didn't have anything prepared and it just kinda... Came out." Looking both flustered and embarassed, she looks back over at where Toph's sped up to, and she lets out a relieved sigh when she /doesn't/ get a rock to the face. That's... That's a good sign, right? Right. "Oh! Uh. Sorry for...!" No, she's getting way too far away for that to work. "... Later!" Sanary calls out once more to the earthbender as loudly as she can. She can just try and apologize again once Toph gets a lap on her! At the rate they're both going, that shouldn't be too long.

At least Sanary /is/ trying to jog again. She moves briskly to try and not fall too far behind the rest of the pack, although she clearly isn't trying to win any footraces. Eggs are delicate, and she's not going to risk dropping it if she can help it! "So... So how long do we gotta run, anyway?" She calls out to nobody in particular, peering at the egg every few seconds to make sure it's still firmly in that sling.

Lute (188) has posed:
Lute's hair is messed with, his neatly combed elegant hair now a bit messy. He smirks at Sanary, rubbing her shoulder for a brief moment before letting go. "Don't worry about it. You'll be fine. Toph isn't the kind to hold a grudge for /too/ long. Fuck, she's here and not trying to punch me, right?"

As the jogging goes to full speed? Two of the eggs start to hatch. Toph's is first. The egg in her sling begins to shake against her, breaking open within the sling. The earth-surfing might be a bit /extreme/ of a method of travel, but perhaps it's working? The Geodude within starts to stick its oarms out from teh shell.

Metal Man's egg is the other one that hatches. The shell starts shaking, before it suddenly opens up. A honedge! A female one, not that Metal Man could likely tell. It suddenly holds its body against the Robot Master.

It's trying to hug him. Awww!

     ...Shame it's a sword.

Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore raises a brow as Toph pretty much laps everyone with her land surfing. Which appears to be working. "Huh" She glances down at her own egg in a sling for a moment. Then tugs the straps a little to make sure they're still tight. It's questionable if she was just going too slow because she was trying to not jostle the egg around, or because what's inside may be very different from what she's familiar with.

Either way, if surfing seems to have worked for Toph...

"Hang on." Athela hooks one arm around the sling and egg, just to make sure it stays stable. With the other hand she tunes in her Tide Caller ability, projecting it in front of herself into a small but quickly rolling wave. That she steps onto and gets a lot more literal with the Surf part.

Rory White (673) has posed:
Oh dear, it's a RACE now?

Rory frowns a bit more.. but Lute's explanation settles her worries. The frown vanishes, although the expression shift's a bit too... mechanical, almost. Like she's having to think hard about body language at every turn.

Her running's similarly precise and practiced, but she gets moving at... a surprising clip, really! Is she really human? She's running a bit faster than an olympian athlete averages...

Up overhead, one of her Saucers is watching events. Particularly the hatchings...

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo just keeps running. He may not notice the hatchings since he's running and concentrating on not falling over. He doesn't have any fancy ways to move fast, not even thrusters in his feet! Then again, that would really be cheating, wouldn't it? And probably not an applicable method for hatching these, if it's true that it works this way. So he just keeps running. One foot in front of the other.

Lute (188) has posed:
As Rory starts running, making an impressive go at it? The egg in her sling shifts, as well. It shakes rapidly, moving quickly inside the egg. The shell of the egg starts to thin quite a bit as well. It's eating the shell away, instead of cracking it.

And is that... a foul smell...?

     The egg breaks open.

     "GRIMER GRIMER!"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
No people are about to get punched today by the mighty earthbending master, no!

Unless they do something utterly stupid, that is.

For now though she keeps on racing, and once she goes the round and overtakes Sanary, the blind girl goes around her, clearly not intent on stopping to talk with her right now. Why, one might almost think that she's evading the older girl! And then, when Toph has finished nearly two lap she's surprised by the fact that her egg begins to hatch! The moment the egg begins shaking and cracking she gasps, then halts her earthen wave, kicking her left heel into the earth. "HEY, DUNDERHEAD!" she calls out, her voice ringing out over the stadium as she holds up the sling. "It's beginning to hatch over here!" Seriously, this running thing actually /worked/?!
And she grins, looking slightly pleased with herself and the egg itself. "I /thought/ I felt something earthy in there!" And she runs over to bring the egg to Lute so he can inspect it.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"I hope so! Maybe I can throw together a..." Sanary trails off, both because she's not quite sure whether Lute will even hear her and because she's not quite sure what to do. A party? Nah, too noisy and messy. A private dinner? Nah, too fancy and date-y. A night of listening to weird radio shows and binging on junk food?

That one might actually work. As the Earthbender starts coming around from behind her, Sanary breaks into more of an actual run to give chase and try to get more time to get more than a few words out despite that evasion. "Hey, Toph! Sorry about the... Almost drowning you... Thing." Okay, no, Sanary's not going to be keeping up with her at that speed or even finishing a full sentence at this rate. Maybe if she can catch her on the second time around?

Or once she finishes going around the track. Alas, her target is on the other side of the track, and turning around now would risk running into people in the opposite direction. For now, the healer's just going to have to suck it up and try to catch them both on the NEXT go around!

Lute (188) has posed:
As Toph runs over to Lute, he blinks a little. His hand reaches to grab the top of the Geodude's head, hand petting it. He smirks a little down at it, before looking back up towards Toph. His hands go around her neck a little, preparing to get the sling off. "Hold your hands under it."

If she holds her hands out, Lute will unsling the Geodude. He lets it fall into her hands, the heavy young rock Pokemon weighing down on her. It looks up, repeating its name over and over. It's only a baby, so it can't quite /talk/ like the other Pokemon can. Not yet. Toph's senses will also tell a lot about it. Despite being a creature of rock, it is... also alive. It's harder for her to sense bits of it.

"That is... Geodude. The Rock/Ground Pokemon. It's a fairly large specimin, for its age. ...and it wasn't supposed to hatch until three days out. This is actually a bit of a surprise..."

Metal Man (11) has posed:
Metal Man has a Honedge hatch in his hands, though iut means no real harm? It tries to hug Metal Man and this does not go well for either of them it's a sword he's got fairly light armour and there's a yelp as he tries to talk to the littl ehitng without harming it as he knows the sword pokemon is an infant.

"ARG! SOMEONE HELP!"

Wood Man and Crash Man just sweat drop more or less as they keep going. Meanwhile Metal is almost flailing and searching for help.

Rory White (673) has posed:
OH?! What is this? Rory feels the shell wobble and shake... rather severely. This throws off her whole balance, so she slows down... and brings her dash to a halt. Of course she cans ee behind her without looking thanks to eyes in the sky - but she does so anyways, looking over her shoulder...

    Blink blink.

    STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE.

"Happy... Birthday?" She's not sure what to make of this goopy mess with a face sloshing around in the sling. Fascinated? Sure. Is it cute? Maybe a little. But olfactory sensors are off the charts with some nasty thiols and other compounds that would map to 'unpleasant,' if she had a normal sense of smell. She doesn't.

    "Ahhh... ummmm..."

Her expression quickly turns to 'oh god what do I do now.'

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The earthbender isn't slow to move her hands to steady the Pokemon as Lute unslings it, nor does she seem worried about hurting it. To her senses it seems strong and sturdy, and well... Toph is used to carrying heavy rocks around. For now she does seem rather curious about the creature as it repeats its name over and over. "A... Geodude?" Who the crud names these things anyway?

The statement that he's surpised the Pokemon hatched this early earns a snort from Toph, and stands a bit taller. "Some of us do stuff the /smart/ way." Heck, he should know that she's criticised him for not thinking logically at times.

When Metal Man cries for help though, Toph arches an eyebrow. "It's just a little sword Pokemon, you wimp! And you're metal too!"

When Sanary nears the place where she's standing though, Toph makes a point to not be facing her direction. Instead she calls out to Athela. "So you finally decided to do the smart thing, huh?" Man, she really is kind of a waterbender, isn't she?

Athela Valemore has posed:
Apparently something in the way Metal Man is flailing with the Honedge is amusing, because Timburr starts laughing loudly at it. Hard enough that he rocks himself right off his improvised seat. Whump! Which, being a sturdy fighting pokemon, doesn't really bother him.

"Mizzen, be nice." But Athela can't divert too much attention from keeping her water flow stable. This isn't quite as easy as it would be to do over a body of water so she's still not quite as fast as she could be, but it's getting the job done, right?

"This is hardly how we do it back home," she replies to Toph, raising her voice a little to be heard as she passes. "But I would be foolish to expect the same things to apply to another world simply because it also involves pokemon."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
There's eggs hatching left and right, it seems! Some are turning into weird arm-rocks, others are turning into piles of goop, and others are... Swords. Makes about as much sense as the other Pokemon Sanary's seen before, anyway. But hers... Maybe it's a speed thing? She breaks into a steadier run and even a sprint to catch up to Lute and Toph sooner, pausing by Metal Man to give him a reassuring smack on the back. "I think it likes you! Or... It's trying to cut you. Hard to tell with a sword."

That's something she never thought she'd ever say. Catching Athela's assessment of what she assumes is her own world's hatching methods, Sanary starts putting a few things together in her head! Not enough things to get a real assessment of who she is yet, but... Well, at least the fact that Athela's from a world with Pokemon in it is something.

"Lute! Toph! Hoo... Whoa. Thought I'd never catch up..." She belts out before hunching over a bit, still cradling the egg carefully while panting heavily. She might be used to long endurance runs, but sprinting? The adrenaline only helps for so long!

Metal Man (11) has posed:
Metal Man is getting taunted abit but well maybe he's asking for it he does seem to calm down a little bit evne as others start laughing at him. His brothers just remain silent as the wonder what they are carrying? Who knows what fate might befall the brothers Wily today. Metalman Meanwhile gets smacked in the safe portion of his back where Sanary won't get cut or lose said hand. and that really snaps him out of it.

"All right little one just don't ... stab me all right?"

Hopefully there's some way to get this thing to understand not to stab him.

Lute (188) has posed:
The Honedge keeps trying to hug Metal Man, clinging to his body quite tightly. It's rubs against him a little. Luckily, the blade is not trying to cut him. Far from it. But, there is stilll a /fair/ amount of risk.

The Geodude, meanwhile, is wrapping its arms around Toph, hugging. It's still young, its eyes looking a bit huge compared to the rest of its body. It holds her close, nuzzling against her stomach. Lute smirks at Toph, not noticing Metal Man's plight.

"Yeah. Geodude. Pretty solid Pokemon, really. ...And, hatched way earlier than the other egg. ...Guess there /is/ something to this urban legend."

The grimer, for its part, isn't /trying/ to smell. Normally they hold it back, unless mad. But it's just a child! It starts crawling up, moving up along Rory's body until it manages to sit itself on her head. Grimers like to form groups in the wild, with the young Grimer getting on the Muk's head. Least it is slowly controlling the smell.

Sanary's egg begins to hatch as well. Shaking, the shell breaks open suddenly. The Pokemon within her arms? It... looks like a small pig, with orange and black markings. An adorable little Tepig.

     Only Athela's hasn't hatched yet.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
When she's hugged Toph can't help but blink at the little Pokemon. "Huh. Affectionate little crud, isn't he?"

Perhaps Lute will notice how Toph lets out a slight sigh when Sanary runs up to them, and the blind earthbender begins trying to unwrap the little Geodude's arms from her waist, all an attempt to try to push it into Lute's arms so he can take it. "Now we know that earthen waves help in hatching Pokemon. Make sure to give Boulderface a safe home!" She /really/ should be heading off. Because hey, she's done with hatching the egg, so she helped out! And it was kinda awesome. Not to mention she's totally a busy earthbender that's gotta get back to make sure the repairs to her metalbending academy are proceeding as planned.

Perhaps she could be more forceful, but it's not like she wants to harm the little Pokemon either, even if it seems to be a bit too attached to her.

Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore would go faster but 1) That would require more water than she can easily summon on her own, and 2) she doesn't want to risk losing control and doing more harm than good. As good as she is with her hydrokinesis, she's not accustomed to using it like this away from a larger body of water.

"When my uncle needs to hatch Buizel eggs we typically place them in a tide pool and let the sun warm the water to incubate them. Similar to how the wild Buizel do it themselves." At least she can keep up a conversation as she goes, for anyone that's actually listening.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
A few more breaths, and Sanary's standing back up straight again! She can still practically taste the awkwardness lingering between herself and Toph, and she glances over at Lute for a moment as if trying to psyche herself back up. Once she gets her brearings straight, she steps towards the slightly younger teen and clears her throat. "H... Hey, Toph. Sorry about the almost drowning you thing. My ehad was in a weird place, and... I'll be fine if you wanna take some shots at me for that. But after that, you wanna hang out sometime? We can listen to some..."

Sanary starts trailing off, however, when she notices the movement from her egg. "Radios and... Music?" She squints slightly at the Pokemon struggling to break free, glancing between it and Lute nervously as if trying to make sure she's not doing something wrong somehow. When that egg finally cracks open and the little Tepig pokes out of it, though?

The healer just starts letting out this odd, excited droning noise. Sanary's helped with human births before and she's brought plenty of pigs into the world on the farms, but this is different! The noise just keeps coming out of her at a low, but steady volume as she settles down to hug the tiny creature carefully.

She's not going to let go of that Tepig any time soon, is she?

Rory White (673) has posed:
Uhhhhhhh.

Rory's eyes turn as upwards as they can go, her expression not changing much... besides lots of blinking. Eventually she reaches up and gently prods the goopy mess gently, doing her best to make sure she's not going to agitate it or... hurt it or...

She has absolutely no idea how to handle a baby ball of stinky goo with a face! But at least it seems to be enjoying itself.

"I don't know a thing about this species, but it's QUITE interesting!"

Lute (188) has posed:
Athela's egg begins to shake. The quick movement of the surfing helping it along. Lute does look over towards her, somewhat shocked at what is going on. He hears her words, though. It's something that he should consider, really. Looking into methods from ancient times. But, the surfing seems to be working, at least. Athela's egg starts to shake. And a little Flabebe appears, riding on a flower. Sadly, this being a Pokemon often carried by the wind on its flower? It smacks right into Athela's chest, in some surprise.

Lute is /almost/, almost, about to help try and patch things up between Sanary and Toph. But then, the egg hatches. And Sanary just /freaks out/. He stares for a second, before turning to Toph and shrugging a little. He places a hand on Toph's shoulder, and Sanary's shoulder.

"Members of Team Lute shouldn't fight eachother for long."

As the Grimer on Rory's head is poked, its body shakes. The slime creature wiggles a bit on her, smiling down at her. Some of Rory's hair is taken into its hand, and it starts to suck on it. This /might/ seem gross -- and it is-- but it does have a bonus! It sucks oils and grease from the hair, removing filth and making the hair look /wonderful/ afterwards.

Gakupo Kamui (686) has posed:
Gakupo just keeps running with the egg for a while, maybe an hour or so. It's long enough to tell that it's not going to hatch. Oh well. Not everyone can have the same luck. He finishes the lap he's doing and then heads back to the table the eggs had been on. Handing the egg sheepishly back, he notes, "Sorry I couldn't get it to hatch. Maybe it doesn't work if the person carrying it isn't really a person." He IS an artificial being and all. Oh well! He smiles and heads off then, with a wave.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Oooh great. She didn't manage to get away in time. The blind girl closes her eyes, and as Sanary speaks she raises her hand, keeping it between her and the older girl. "I don't want to talk about it, and no, I don't wanna hang out." Well... at least it doesn't seem like the master earthbender is about to take some shots at Sanary at least...?

Perhaps it's a good thing that the Tepig hatches, and Toph finally manages to get the Geodude free as she shoves it against Lute's chest. And she does look grumpy for a moment. "WELL, you threw me out from Team Lute last year, don't you remember? Or did I hit you in the face too hard with that metal?" she asks.

Athela Valemore has posed:
Oh, there it is starting to crack finally. Athela lets the wave start to fade, intended to slow back down to walking before it finishes. But it doesn't quite work that way as the pokemon that hatchs is much smaller and lighter than anticipated.

Fortunately the surcoat over her armor gives it some padding to land on when the tiny Flabebe thumps against her chest.

"Easy there little one." As the water ripples away finally Athela scoops her hands around the teeny Fairy to pick it up gently, and start walking back to the others. "Mister Lute, your egg hatched.... But I admit I doth not know much about the typing of Fairys."

Metal Man (11) has posed:
Metal Man finally accepts his fate, he sighs and hopes he just doesn't end up well imapled this thing is a baby after all and even he's not /that/ mean.SHe does seem to be a bit on edge and hopefully someone will find this little pokemon a home where it wont' have issues with harming it's partner, right?

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary does flinch a bit when Toph's hand goes up, almost like she's bracing for something up until she starts speaking instead of sending rocks everywhere. "Ah... Y-yeah, that's fine." Although she does deflate a bit at that, it still went better than expected. No bruises or concussions or anything!

It's not until Lute makes contact with Sanary that she finally snaps out of her freakout phase and realizes that there's still people around. People that probably saw said freakout just now. So much for her street cred, huh? Clearing her throat once again, the healer tries her best not to look directly at the Tepig while continuing to stroke its head softly and staring straight at Lute and the others drawing closer for one reason or another. "S-so. Uh. Where are these gonna go once we're done here?"

Lute (188) has posed:
With Gakupo's return, Lute rubs his chin a bit. He bites the side of his lip, listening to the thought. 'Not a person'? He shrugs a little bit, "I really doubt such is the case. If anything... Hm. Maybe this egg just isn't as close as others...? ...Or..." He frowns. "...Or it still /could/ be just random chance, that the eggs hatched earlier. ...I'll need to do a lot more research."

The Geodude is shoved into Lute's chest. He holds it for a moment, petting and rubbing its head before lowering down and setting it on the ground. The Geodude promptly begins to pretend and be a rock. Lute gives Toph a look... A sort of strange look of kindness. If only she could see it.

"Toph. Sanary and I don't actually have any hate for you. We just ended up on different sides in a conflict. Hell, I joined up with the Confederates due to coincidence, more than choice. While I hold no regrets about being within it? I hold no hate to you, even as much as we fought. I am fairly certain Sanary is the same way. So. Even if I /did/ kick you out of Team Lute? You're still a member of it anyways."

And then the Flabebe. Lute turns towards Athela, nodding towards the small Pokemon. He holds out a hand, palm up to offer to hold it. "Mm. Flabebe is from Kalos. Fairly simple Pokemon. But... Very vulnerable, especially when just born. We'll have to be careful with her. I'll be sure to get her to a nice field to live in, or find her a nice trainer."

He looks towards Sanary next, and the Tepig. Smiling. "Mm. Find trainers for them, or release them in the wild to a new family. It'll at least spend some time being researched until a situation is set up, though. Don't worry. I can get them all home on my own."

Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore sets the tiny fairy-mon in Lute's hand carefully. Gives it one last pat on the head. "I leave it in your best capable hands then." Then steps back and makes a short bow. "And hopefully helped you with your research as well then. Good evening."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
If Toph could see the look on Lute's face things might turn out even worse, honestly. As it is she can't help but roll her eyes at the little speech. "That's easy for you to say, you weren't there when it happened." No, she's /not/ about to forget what happened during that day when Sanary lost control of herself. And that's actually worse than the annoyance than the talk of Team Lute. "Whatever... good luck with the Pokemon, I'm heading back home." Yes, she's grown into a typical teenager all right. At least it could have gone worse as she hasn't thrown any punches or used her earthbending for anything /bad/.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary chuckles lightly as Lute keeps trying to make her case for her to Toph, and she actually gets up to give him an appreciative ruffle on the back of the head. "It's alright, Lute. I... Kinda did try to-"

Wait. Right. Not talking about this while Toph's not feeling up for it. She clears her throat and nods towards the Earthbender, wiggling the Tepig in her arms a bit in the meantime. "Take care, Toph. I'll... Uh. I'll be around." There's still some hope in her voice, at least! Besides, she can't let herself get too depressed with the tiny pig Pokemon in her hands!

If nothing else? At least she'll be keeping an eye on the Tepig until everything's done for this test.
