Profile

The man who would come to call himself "Alucard" has seen much in his long life. The death of his human mother at the hands of humans who thought her a witch, the horror of the deeds of his own father. He has risen against the monster known as Dracula more than once in his life, and will likely do so again. As the son of Dracula, he has a portion of the same dark power as his father. Being half-vampire, a dhampir, he does not age. He is able to take the forms of bat, wolf, or mist, as well as having very strong magical power. Not to say he can't hold his own physically; he is an expert swordsman with his mother's heirloom sword, and has a vampire's strength, stamina, and speed, to say nothing of his enhanced senses. However, vampiric strengths do come with vampiric weaknesses: direct sunlight is painful, silver causes damage his regeneration cannot heal, and he is deathly allergic to garlic. Yet Alucard's fear of his own powers and what they may drive him to do, as well as his shame at his hunger for blood, seek him to remain distant from others, even those who would be his allies. Perhaps ESPECIALLY from those who would be his allies, who he is harder on than anyone else. They must be ready for the dark.

Advantages

Defining

DHAMPIR <Consent>: Half-human, half-vampire, Alucard's human appearance belies more strength than ten men, movements faster than the naked eye, and the endurance to withstand a demonic army -- he's superhuman across the board. Between innate physiology and a propensity for draining vitality (via spells or feeding as any vampire would), he regenerates from injuries rapidly enough to see them closed within seconds of taking them. Lastly, he has the sharp senses of a nocturnal apex predator, particularly his sense of smell, and particularly where blood is concerned -- supernatural things such as himself have a particular scent to their blood; Alucard is able to pick this up. Additionally he is able to smell certain bloodlines, and can recognize the similarities between people of the same family.

THE TRAGIC PRINCE: Alucard received a thorough education in swordsmanship and hellish magic from his mother and father, respectively. For the former, in addition to his heirloom blade he possesses an enchanted sword that can float and attack with a mind of its own. For the latter, he specializes in using the elements and powers of darkness for many kinds of ranged attacks (hell-fireballs, sonic blasts, mystic lasers that bounce off walls, lightning, homing spirit bursts, phantom sword rains, etc, and black magic vitality siphons that bolster his regeneration -- see Dhampir above).

Significant

SHAPESHIFTING: As with vampires, Alucard can shapeshift. Bat form grants the power of flight. Mist form lets him slip around or through many physical obstacles -- where air can traverse, so may Alucard. As a wolf he sacrifices the nobility of swordsmanship for savage claws and fangs.

HUNT THE NIGHT: If there's one thing Alucard is familiar with fighting, it's creatures of the night. Vampires. Werewolves. Demons. Few beings know their ways better, or their weaknesses. He knows some divine magics that can wreak havoc on them, and is not against wielding holy water and religious iconography where necessary -- but with all due care, given his own nature. In practice, said nature drastically limits personal usage, but his knowledge can be turned towards arming allies and soldiers as circumstances warrant.

SEALING MAGIC: As part of his efforts to combat darkness, Alucard is also well-versed in mystic methods to suppress and subdue it. Someone opened a gateway to hell and demons are spewing out? Alucard might be able to help close it. A bloodthirsty blade has possessed its wielder? Alucard may just be able to seal it and render it safe for storage. A witch's vile curse has plagued a family for ten generations? He might have a method to suppress it. Used on himself, he can mask his vampiric aura to a point where only the keenest of supernatural senses can sniff it out.

Minor

FAMILIARS: Alucard can summon a variety of mischievous little spirits and dark creatures to aid him -- Faerie, Ghost, Demon, Bat, and the Sword mentioned earlier. Their small size allows them to get into all kinds of odd places to work mischief on his behalf, and they sometimes aid him in battle with lesser versions of his own abilities (the Bat can spit fireballs, the Ghost can sap vitality, the Demon can stab things with its trident) but are little more than a nuisance acting on their own.

AGELESSNESS: Though he can die, vampiric heritage means it will not be of old age. As with vampires, he may enter a state of deep hibernation for centuries if he wished.

SHORT-RANGE TELEPORT: Alucard has perfected a "flash-step" style attack, appearing behind his opponents to strike with either magic or a physical attack. Additionally his vampiric speed can make him appear to teleport, the afterimages left in his wake the only signal that he hasn't actually done so.

Disadvantages

PRIDE <Trouble>: His "good" alignment notwithstanding, Alucard IS still very much his father's son. He was born and raised as an aristocrat, and it shows in his bearing. He tends to have an aloof and standoffish attitude; his taciturn and quiet nature can make him seem unsympathetic; he could possibly complicate a non-violent negotiation with violence if he finds sufficient offense. Offended pride may especially result from insults to his family, but particularly his mother, and using insults that people tend to carelessly throw around in modern era speech (such as "bastard").

OVERCONFIDENCE <Trouble>: Alucard is well accustomed to being one of the most powerful beings in his world. He is certainly NOT accustomed to fighting those who can match his power. This leads him into risky behavior, such as pretending to be an enemy in order to test an ally's strength and/or resolve, or wading hip-deep in supernatural horror with no thought of harm to himself.

HALF-VAMPIRE <Significant>: While being half-vampire gives him power, it comes at a price. Sunlight will not burn him, but direct sunlight is painful for his eyes to endure for long periods of time; he sunburns and contracts heat exhaustion more easily. Being submerged in a natural body of moving water rapidly drains his strength. He is allergic to garlic. He takes extra damage from silver and holy weapons.

BLEEDING HEART <Significant>: Alucard's mother, Lisa, was human, and it was her last words that impressed upon him the already rough condition of mankind in general. It also instilled in him the need to help those who clearly need help and are too weak to defend themselves. It wouldn't be difficult at all to catch him off guard pretending to be in trouble or taking a hostage. Hostages could be used to make him drop his guard, force him to disarm, or put him into a highly disadvantageous situation. Or, simply threaten an innocent life and his attention is elsewhere... leaving paths of escape or ingress open.

DARK AURA <Minor>: Those who have any sort of mystical senses will always be able to strongly feel Alucard's dark, unsettling aura when unsuppressed. Even those who don't have such abilities (particularly non-Elites) may find themselves uneasy in his presence. Natural animals tend to run from him, except for "creatures of the night" -- bats, wolves, rats, etc. -- and creatures aligned to darkness. He can suppress this aura, but only when not using any other powers. This makes it very difficult for him to undertake missions that require stealth and power use, as this aura gives his presence away. and cannot be suppressed while he's utilizing his powers.

DISTANT <Minor>: Alucard often isolates himself from those around him, or tends to be withdrawn around others, for fear of hurting the people around him with his vampiric power. In addition, his unsettling aura tends to drive people away. He often finds it difficult to "mingle" due to this, and may leave him lacking friends when he really needs them.

BLOOD LUST <Minor>: Alucard is not unnaturally murderous or savage; this refers to a literal thirst for blood. He generally feeds on the evil creatures in his world (or similar evil creatures in other worlds) to keep this in check. As a dhampir, he can survive only on food; however he will begin losing his powers if he goes without blood. Moreover, he does crave blood, as his dark lineage demands. If this hunger goes unfed, he will have more difficulty resisting the lure of blood.

Invasion of the Sweeper November 23rd, 2017 Eithne feels responsible for the near-destruction of Alucard's "bed" (his stone sarcophagus), so she travels to his sanctum to help sweep up the bits. Alucard finds her there and the two discuss what happened, and the definition of "family".
Soliloquy of Reproach: Release, Part II November 10th, 2017 The two groups met up again in the throne room of the castle, to face Magnus for the first (and last) time. Attempting to masquerade as Alucard, who he had previously kidnapped, proved fruitless for the incubus, as the Elites saw through his scheme this time. A battle commenced, and through the efforts of the Elites, Magnus was sent back to Hell, and both Erina and Alucard were rescued safely. All's well that ends well, at the final "Roundabout"!
Soliloquy of Reproach: Release, Part I October 27th, 2017 The group gathers to rescue Erina Pendleton from Magnus, and to end the incubus's danger. The group splits up -- some of them making a ruckus at the front, while others take a back route. The team at the front tangles with a dangerous Weapon Master, toughest of the Giant Brothers. The team sneaking in the back way confronts Magnus... and his treachery! Disguising himself as Erina, Magnus attempts to rend Jonathan Joestar's soul. He is stopped by Alucard... who takes the attack in Jonathan's place. Now Magnus has Erina AND Alucard, and he invites the group to try to stop him now that all the pieces of his plan are in place.
Soliloquy of Reproach: Beset October 20th, 2017 A group of people go to Alucard's tomb to confront him for his role in the attacks at Windknight's Lot. A fight ensues and Alucard summons several beautiful thralls to battle the group. However, "Alucard" is revealed to be someone else -- a vampire named Lyudmil, a servant of Alucard's from long ago, mind-controlled by an incubus named Magnus. While the group is in Wallachia, Erina Pendleton is kidnapped by Magnus. He demands that Alucard raise Castlevania... or he will kill Erina.
Soliloquy of Reproach: Forewarning October 13th, 2017 Maria Renard draws together the Elite defenders Windknight's Lot and gives them the information about Alucard she has. She points the group to Alucard's resting place, and begs them to end his reign of terror. Not all of the gathered Elites are convinced that killing him is the best idea, but all seem to agree that to get to the bottom of this, Alucard must be confronted.
Soliloquy of Reproach: Duplicity October 7th, 2017 After many days of ill omens -- unnatural fog, clusters of bats, and even reports of a wolf in the countryside -- Jonathan finds a man that exactly matches the image in the three girls' mind. The man does nothing to dissuade this notion. Jonathan defeats him, but he escapes. However a woman named Maria appears, claiming to know the vampire. She offers to return, and tell all that she knows about the vampire that plagues Windknight's Lot, if Jonathan will but gather his allies.
Soliloquy of Reproach: Prologue September 29th, 2017 Three pretty blonde girls of marrying age have been attacked for their blood in Windknight's Lot. Drained near to the point of death, they've only survived but for their speedy discovery. Jonathan Joestar asks for assistance in investigating the matter, and a team of Elites come to gather clues.
