In 1906, after a devastating earthquake leveled much of San Fransisco, Japanese imigrants living there helped rebuild. Through the years, the newly christened city of San Fransokyo became one of the top technological cities in the world. It houses luminaries such as Professor Robert Callaghan, who pioneered incredible feats of robotics engineering.

Beneath the shiny veneer, in the backstreets, lies a dark, throbbing layer of criminal activity. Illegal bot fights. Hustling. Drug deals. And that's in part how the Big Hero 6 came into being. To fight against wrong, for the sake of right! Lacking in mutants, magic, or other super powers, they've made do with some incredible technological advances. Proving once again that sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
