Condemned to exile for inciting an armed insurrection against Krypton's ruling council, General Dru-Zod's sentence ended when his homeworld imploded, leaving Zod and his followers among the last living Kryptonians. Driven by his intended purpose, Zod and his crew scavenge remnants of Kryptonian technology from the ruins of the planet and its interstellar colonies. They also hunt for the Codex, the genetic repository for all of Krypton's genetic information, which Kryptonian scientist Jor-El sent into the unknown with his infant son. With the destruction of Krypton, Zod has come to believe that only he can restore Kryptonian civilization. Zod is ruthless, obsessive, and driven, and would think nothing of eradicating an entire planet of living beings to establish his new Krypton. Not the man he used to be, Zod is prone to dramatic grandstanding, fits of rage when thwarted, and can hold serious grudges. Despite his faults, he is not stupid or easily fooled, possessing a nigh-unshakable iron will and the intelligence to adapt. Being a Kryptonian, his body is adept at extracting energy and using it, owing to Krypton's harsh and unforgiving environment. In an Earth-like environment, Zod possesses superhuman strength, speed, durability, and senses, as well as supersonic flight, heat beams, and x-ray vision. In the hands of someone like Zod, few other weapons are necessary.

ALIEN ATMOSPHERE: Krypton's native atmosphere is very different from Earth's. Humans will suffocate in it and Kryptonians have no superpowers when breathing it. Conversely, native Kryptonian adults exposed to Earth's atmosphere suffer from debilitating sensory overload as their body attempts to cope with expanded senses, at least until they adapt to it. While Zod has learned to cope with the expanded senses, there is always a moment of adjustment when he starts breathing an Earth-like atmosphere, like somebody walking into a bright room after being in the dark for awhile. (Zod and his NPCs drop their PL by 4 when on the Black Zero or on a Krypton-like world.)

BATTERY LIFE: While Kryptonian bodies are very good at absorbing and storing energy, they can use more energy than they generate, eating into their reserves. Intense and/or frequent use of their superpowers (including their nigh-invulnerability) is the primary cause of this. They experience this drainage of reserves as fatigue; disorientation, increased susceptibility to injury, decreased strength, and a slowing of reflexes/reaction time. Zod, as driven as he is, has a bad habit of pushing his limits in this regard. Zod also did not spend thirty years living under a yellow sun and has shallow energy reserves compared to Kal-El.

ENERGY WEAKNESS: Kryptonians are as frail as humans when it comes to being harmed by things like high energy plasma and (strangely) magical energy used offensively. (Add 20% more damage when energy-based attacks are used against Zod and his NPCs.)

I WILL FIND HIM!: Zod's biggest personality flaw is that he does not accept defeat gracefully and tends to lash out with physical violence at the source of his frustration, often losing sight of his goal or mission. He also holds deep grudges against those who thwart him.

KNEEL BEFORE ZOD: Zod has a tendency to make big showy entrances and demonstrate his prowess, under the idea that 'shock and awe' can cow a lot of problems into submission. The problem is that he enjoys the attention and canny opponents know to use this against him. In less guarded moments, Zod ends up performing full-blown villainous monologues. All this means that Zod tends to draw attention to himself and paints a figurative target on his chest, taking on more opponents than should be necessary.

SOLE PURPOSE: When in pursuit of objectives related to his primary goal of restoring and preserving Krypton, Zod is ruthless and relentless. Nothing is more sacred to him than Krypton, and he is willing to make terrible sacrifices to accomplish his goal. Zod will focus on more immediate threats to Krypton's safety over long-term ones, leading to a kind of tunnel-vision. He can be blinded by this all-consuming purpose at times, and suffers the consequences of his short-sightedness.Dropped
