Green Lantern:TAS-1 is a theme that focuses on the Green Lantern continuity that is made up of the animated series that ran from 2011-2013. Unification took place at an indeterminate point prior to the events of the first episode. The TV series provides the primary canon for the theme but other elements from the comics can be worked into the theme if they don't openly contradict elements from the series.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series follows the heroic adventures of the Green Lanterns - Hal Jordan, Kilowog and Aya - as they attempt to thwart the plans of Atrocitus and his Red Lanterns, vengeful counterparts of the Green Lanterns who are powered by anger as opposed to will. The key conflict of the series revolves around Atrocitus desiring revenge for the destruction of his world by robotic forces known only as the Manhunters, once commanded by the Guardians who now oversee the actions of the Green Lanterns. There are, however, many other lurking threats and unknown dangers in the so-called Frontier Space that marks the edge of the territory held by the Guardians and therefore protected by the Green Lanterns. And, further still, separated by a great asteroid field, lies the Forgotten Zone - a vast area of space littered with broken planets and interstellar debris, the only remnants of some ancient war.

A key aspect of the series is the idea that emotions can be harnessed as a power source. Green for will, red for anger, blue for hope, orange for greed and violet for love, among others. Through the use of 'power rings', people can utilize this emotional energy to perform incredible feats like flying, shooting energy beams or creating hardlight constructs - for good or for evil.
