Profile

Hitomi Shizuki has had a blessed life. From a rich family, she spent her days studying dance, piano, and other refined hobbies suitable for an aristocratic girl. Pretty and popular, she makes an unusual candidate for a Puella Magi, since those are usually girls who have a desire for something. Yet fight she does, with a particularly fervent desire to protect Sayaka, though that desire makes no sense even to herself. The undefinable guilt she feels is Hitomi's defining characteristic, and the desire to atone for some vague sense of unjustness gives her the power to protect her allies and fight the Witches that she's learned plague her world.

Soul Gem - If her Soul Gem is more than one hundred meters away from her body, a magical girl will fall unconscious (or for all purposes, dead) until the Soul Gem is returned to her. Furthermore, the gem will turn darker as the girl exhibits strong negative emotions or uses magic, essentially forcing magical girls to hunt witches for Grief Seeds. Should the gem turn completely black, it is likely the magical girl would die (or perhaps, something /worse/ would happen). Finally, if a Soul Gem is destroyed, the magical girl it belongs to is killed with it.

Guilt - Though the bulk of her guilt is directed at Sayaka for reasons she can't understand, this has made Hitomi very easy to upset in similar situations. If she has any reason to believe that something bad has happened due to her actions, she can quickly become apologetic and distracted, hesitating at crucial moments or suffering needless worry, which is quite hazardous for a Puella Magi.

Short-Sighted - Hitomi means well, she really does, but she rarely stops to consider the long-term consequences of her actions, nor does she really think beyond the moment much. She's never had to consider her future, so it doesn't often come into her mind. This can be perceived as being somewhat shallow, and maybe that's true, but the real culprit is simply a lack of consideration for consequences.
