Quote
Isn't that what I'm supposed to be? A hero? Isn't that who I am? If it's just gonna sit inside me, if it's just gonna sit in my gut, then what are we doing? What's the point? Why don't we just give it to them if we're gonna act like them?!

Profile

Messiah, savoir, leader, teenager. All of these words describe John Connor, the man who will one day lead humanity to victory against the Skynet artificial intelligence. However, John Connor is not that man yet. Formerly a young delinquent, John has grown into himself and is on the cusp of becoming the legendary figure that the future needs him to be and the leader that Skynet knows it must eliminate. Even as a teenager, John has survived multiple attempts on his life from Skynet's Terminators being sent from the future into the past, aiming to end the war before it truly starts. Under the guidance of his mother, Sarah, John has been trained in warfare, computer technology and espionage techniques from a young age and would be the equal of any modern-day soldier. He is smart, he is skilled, and he is ready to fight. However, John Connor is only a teenager and the demands of fighting a war that doesn't exist yet for every waking moment weigh heavily upon him. If future assassins weren't worrying enough, John Connor lives on the run from the government agencies of his own time, compounding the difficulties of fighting against Skynet's machines and averting the apocalypse. Despite his compassionate nature, John is often anti-social, prone to violence and lacks a social network beyond his immediate family and Cameron, his Terminator bodyguard and future confidante. Beneath the prophecy, John Connor is a teenager who wishes he could wake up from his unimaginable nightmare, torn between embracing his destiny and running away from the apocalypse the future has prepared for him.

FATED: Unfortunately for John Connor, he is fated to be the leader of the human resistance following Judgement Day. He is fated to come under attack from Skynet's temporal assassins and to never live anything approaching a normal life. In John Connor's world, he must be always vigilant - because every person he meets may be a Terminator from the future and a momentary lapse could mean death. He must always be careful because, if he falls, the whole human race falls with him. It's not an easy burden and it is one the young John Connor frequently finds difficult to bear because, for all he fights against Judgement Day, it seems like the future is inevitable.

BORN TO RUN: To make matters worse, ever since he, Sarah and 'Uncle Bob' destroyed the Cyberdyne research building, John Connor has been living under a series of assumed names while he lives on the run from the FBI. For now, that name is John Baum. Much like his mother, John is wanted for a whole host of crimes including: murder, assault, terrorism, arson, kidnapping... Because of this, at any moment, John may need to pack up his life and flee to find a new name and a new identity. If this was ever exposed to his home universe, this could make things very difficult indeed.

ANTI-SOCIAL: Even as a teenager, John has a tendency to conduct himself like a soldier. He never sits with his back to a door and is always checking for possible exits. He has, on one occasion, been likened to a soldier suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. John doesn't cope well with the demands of his life and the fate of humanity resting on his shoulders, acting out much more than any normal teenager - he gets into fights, he rebels needlessly, and is prone to walling himself off from others in times of extreme stress. He has no friends from his own age group or even temporal era.
