Formerly US Special Forces, Kevin Banowen was sentenced to life in prison after a mission went wrong. Behind the scenes, however, his jail time was bought out by the highly influential medical conglomerate known as the 'Unity Pharmalabs'. Officially his title within the company is 'Hazardous Cleanup Management', a nebulous job which sees him traveling all over the world for work. For most social interactions, Kevin is outwardly cordial, treats people with respect, and can be fairly nice to those he considers friends. However, many people also describe him as distant, seeming to always have a wall up around his true personality. Skill-wise, he is vastly overqualified for his current job position, being an incredibly skilled ex-soldier and very adept at combat. Many people within the company have even claimed to see Kevin execute superhuman abilities despite his normal appearance, leading many to think he's a Sacrificer, someone who gave something up in exchange for great power.
Sacrifice (Schism): As previously mentioned, Kevin sacrificed a great deal for his current level of power. For his freedom and the SCIS system, he traded his life. The violent and unstable concoctions of chemicals that run through his system, both natural and artificial, have reduced his lifespan drastically. Despite being in his early 30s, Kevin's remaining lifespan is likely no more than a half-decade before either his heart explodes from chemical usage or the chemicals have an adverse reaction with lethal consequences.
Corporate-Owned Lifespan: What lifespan he does have left is legal property of Unity Pharmalabs to do with as they see fit. In practice, this mostly means that when they tell him to work, he has little to no choice. It also means that most of his backing is based on his obedience to their orders. Defying them would not only remove his corporate backing, but cause him to be classified as an escaped fugitive.
SCIS Chemical Dependency: In addition to diminished lifespan, the SCIS also creates a dependancy on itself to create drugs and chemicals within the body, replacing the body's natural ability to do so. In the unlikely event that the system is damaged, or even less likely removed, Kevin would suffer severe withdrawals and need intensive care until the system could be restored to functioning.
Chemical Overdrive: Even with as advanced as the SCIS system is, there is a very real risk of injury induced by the system. Most often directly resulting from his body being "overclocked" during operations, Kevin Banowen is prone to pushing himself so hard he tears muscles or breaks bones on a regular basis. Stims can pile up in his system and induce a frenzy, as well, and lead to severe cross-chemical interactions. The system does what it can to moderate these side-effects, but as the system deploys more and more chemicals during battle, these risks increase.Relationship (Partner): While an obedient employee, there are few people in Unity Pharmalabs that Kevin Banowen would ever go above and beyond to help outside of the line of duty. The main exception being Rachel Donovan, his partner within the corporation. In any scenario in which she has been in significant distress, Kevin has diverted from whatever he was doing independently to go help her out of it. This can prove a liability on high-priority operations.
