A truly refined and considerate gentleman, Lancer of Black is a shining example of what a knight ought to be...albeit one whose banner is painted in the blood of his enemies, and whose opinions may be unsettlingly old-world despite his compassion. Cruel and unforgiving of those who exploit and harm the weak to the point of unsettling brutality, Lancer of Black's identity is none other than Vlad the Impaler, the legendary hero of Romania. As Lancer of Black, he possesses absurdly superhuman abilities with which to pursue his goals, among them the capacity to spawn and control countless spears from the very ground below his feet, general resistance to magic, and, within his own domain, abilities that can only be called "overwhelming", even among the naturally-superhuman Heroic Spirits. Unfortunately, Vlad the Impaler's glory is poisoned by a sickness called 'Dracula', a fiction that taints all that he has ever done, even to the point of forcing itself upon him by allowing him to transform into the monstrous vampire himself. Lancer of Black will go to any lengths to purge himself of that legend, and its memories, and woe betide those who get in his way.
GENTLEMAN DANGEROUS: Despite his refined and gentlemanly demeanor, and his surprising compassion, Lancer of Black is still a man who exudes an aura of danger wherever he goes. Possessed of occasionally-unsettling old-world opinions and ideas, the deep sense of faith that springs from doing whatever is necessary to safeguard one's home, and the absolute conviction of his own rightness, Lancer can be a bit divisive and difficult to understand, to his detriment.
FURY OF THE RIGHTEOUS: Despite his refined attitude, Lancer has no problem being horrifically brutal towards his enemies. In Lancer's mind, these are people who have trespassed against those he defends, making him less than willing to talk, negotiate, or otherwise befriend those he's directly engaged in combat with. This can obviously cause problems with socialization, among other things.
INNOCENT MONSTER: If Lancer's identity is discovered, it becomes extremely easy to provoke him by reminding him of his connection to Dracula. While he won't lose his refined demeanor, his judgement will sway, and he'll be more easily pushed into making foolish mistakes through his anger. He'll go extremely far out of his way to deal with representations of himself as Dracula, or people who continually push and needle him about it.
PRANA REQUIREMENTS: Lancer needs constant influx of prana to continue existing. A Master is the most efficient means of providing this influx. Use of Noble Phantasms requires a Master. Should Lancer run out of prana, it has a very short time to find a new Master.
COMMAND SPELLS: Once Lancer makes a contract with a Master, that Master has three absolute orders they can inflict upon Lancer, which Lancer must obey. These Command Spells take the form of seals upon the Master's body, usually the right arm. The Spells are massive concentrations of prana, which, once used to give Lancer an order, disappear. Once the last one is used up, Lancer will require a new Master, or an immediate source of prana, or he will cease to exist. Further Spells could be acquired by physically removing them from masters and grafting them onto the current master's body, but such an act is extremely difficult.NO MORE A MAN: When Legend of Dracula is active, Lancer of Black takes on the traditional weaknesses of the mythical Count Dracula. Additionally, his heroic traits are stripped away, and his brutality and cruelty become exaggerated. These flaws do not apply if Legend of Dracula is not active.
