A dark copy of Fate Testarossa spawned by the Book of Darkness, combining her abilities with Signum's and Chrono's, MATERIAL-L (LEVI RUSSEL) is a girl without a past, not because she is emo and mysterious, but because there's just not much to remember besides a name. Like the others, she is tasked with the protection of the book and its continued survival through the harvest of Linker Cores, organs that enable the use of magic in mages from their world. Childish and outgoing, Material-L sports few if any of the traits of the original, being an emotionally driven construct with a very quiet and easily ignored conscience. Unable to cope with the concept of defeat, she has a tendency to go berserk when heavily injured, but also when provoked into it. Equipped with the Intelligent Device Vulnificus, Material-L is a dangerous melee combatant in skill and a fierce ranged foe in power, able to combine lightning and ice with her speed to deliver decisive strikes.

  • Servant of the Book of Darkness: The Materials are bound to the whims of the Book of Darkness. Though it allows them to learn and evolve, it will not allow them to develop the ability to defy it, or to acquire knowledge, skills or abilities that may allow them to break free. As a result, the Book of Darkness can, without notice, strip the Materials of any abilities, skills or knowledge they have acquired that it does not agree they should have; it can also, as needed, alter their personalities back into what they should be. To this end, the Materials can be considered to be duty-bound to the Book of Darkness, an instinct to protect and serve it programmed deep into their personalities. This does not stop them from intentionally slowing down their collection to avoid filling it, however, they just can't explicitely tell it off.
  • Material Fragment: As beings of pure mana, the Materials can be but aren't necessarily more susceptible to anti-magical effects. Similarily, were the Book of Darkness destroyed, they may cease to exist. This weakness can manifest in multiple ways, from a temporary loss of PL, to taking more damage, to using lower level attacks, or whatever else is dramatically appropriate.
  • Personality Flaws: Material-L is a psychotic, energetic and outgoing lunatic. She doesn't even remotely see anything wrong in most of the things she does, much less the things the other two Materials do. Where Material-S is the quiet one and Material-D is the spoiled princess, Material-L is the friend who rapidly goes from serious to completely off her rocker trying to put cheat codes in her Device, and whose games are typically violent and deadly.
  • Berserk Buttons: Losing (In Any Form), Being Hurt, Friends Being Hurt, Not Getting What She Wants, Getting What She Wants If It Turns Out To Suck, Bad Food, Coffee, Being Lied To, Being Told The Truth When It's Hurtful, Being Treated Like An Adult (She Hates Responsibility), Being Treated Like A Child (Just Because She's Nine Years Old Doesn't Mean She Can't Be Responsible), And About One Thousand Other Things. TL;DR: Material-L is kind of a lit powder keg at all times and rapidly swings between excited/happy and angry/flailing.
