Subject 89P13, more commonly known as 'Rocket', is a small bipedal raccoon creature created from illegal genetic and cybernetic experiments performed on Halfworld in the Keystone Quadrant. Travelling with his bodyguard/houseplant Groot, a strong tree-like creature, the pair act as bounty hunters and guns-for-hire to the highest bidder. Which has placed them on the wrong side of the law on more than a few occasions. A skilled marksman and pilot, Rocket is also competent at creating and repairing weaponry with the right tools and a pile of parts, especially when heavy weapons and giant explosions are involved. Despite Rocket being seemingly self-concerned and abrasive, some would be surprised at Groot's sticking around, however the two are pretty much inseparable. For now, the pair travel the multiverse taking on odd jobs for the right price.
- Being only three feet tall has its bonuses, but also its disadvantages. When alone, he can have difficulty reaching things, such as consoles, things on tables, or door handles. He is also quite easily pushed or thrown around by those taller than him. Explosions and shockwaves are also more prone to flinging him around due to his light weight.
- Sticky Fingers
- If Rocket wants something, odds are he'll just take it. Regardless of the legalities, which has landed him in hot water with the law more often than not. He especially has a soft spot for weaponry, often 'borrowing' firearms left lying in the open regardless of if their rightful owner was using it. Rather than return the stolen items when confronted however, he is more inclined to keep the items and brush the owner off.
- Berserk Button
- Rocket hates being treated like an animal, reacting violently in response. On top of making him more reckless, this does also make him easily exploitable. When enraged, he is more likely to fly off the handle at the most critical moments, such as directing his attention elsewhere as he focuses on the target of his ire or dropping his guard as he attacks wildly, all to soothe his own ego.
- Due to a myriad of past escapades on his part, Rocket is wanted by the Nova Corps on Xandar. His crimes include theft, escape from incarceration, mercenary activity and arson. While the Nova Corps is careful to not extend beyond their jurisdiction, they would certainly reward those who apprehended a dangerous criminal on their behalf. Groot meanwhile is wanted on a few counts of greivous bodily harm as well.

Rocket was, to begin with, an ordinary raccoon. However, he was experimented on by an unknown group on Halfworld. He was genetically and cybernetically augmented, as well as repeatedly dismembered and rebuilt, during these experiments. It was during this time he gained most of his training and abilities, a by-product of the experiments performed on him. After an unknown length of time, he left Halfworld and travelled the galaxy, eventually coming across the sentient plant-based lifeform known as Groot. Due to his ability to understand Groot's speech, he and Rocket became close friends and partners in bounty hunting. With their unification into the Multiverse, the the pair see even more opportunity to make some money and live it up on the resulting paydays.Dropped
