SOMEWHERE IN LONDON.

"Alright, class! What did we learn yesterday?"

"Spell circles really can blow up."

"You need at least three layers of safety."

"A dampening Bounded Field is never a bad idea."

"It's hard to clean up a scorched classroom."

"Having the Grim Reaper supervise your work is unsettling."

"Haha, great, great! Right, so, today we'll be studying familiars! What's a familiar, go on, impress me!"

"A creature bound to a magus."

"Oh, it can be artificial, or an actual animal."

"People or humunculi are options if you have the technical know-how."

"If you give them too much of a personality, they can rebel against you, so it's important to only have the strict minimum you need."

"Oh, and get rid of unnecessary powers and abilities to make room for only the ones you need out of your familiar, and specialize them."

"Uh-uh, not bad, not bad! Hm, some of those answers need some work though. Now, why would you think familiars can't act like people?"

"It's a liability, of course."

"You can't control them then."

"They could find another master if they need to."

"And it's good to have absolute authority on them so that if you need to replace them you can order them to die without a fuss. It's dangerous to have tons of old familiars lying around."

"How typical, haha! Well. Today's lesson is going to be about how wrong you are then! I'd like to introduce my two familiars again! The Grim Reaper, and my cat~. Ah, ah, but the cat isn't really MY familiar anymore, and I guess a Servant is different... psht, no big! SO! Today's lesson is about treating your familiars like people and not being jerks! We'll start with why it's a bad idea to offend them. Kitty, you have the floor~."

"With pleasure, Aoko."
