Profile

Kym Shatrov, better known by her handle Veno (a typo in the official documents, it was meant to be Venom, but she never found the courage to point it out) is an orphaned girl from the Multiversal War, whom the Confederacy took in. She was used to perform illegal cybernetic tests (mostly illegal due to the fact she was a child) and sent to take out competition or targets of opportunity between tests. Eventually the Confederacy caught wind of the experiments and had that branch of R&D "go missing," drafting Veno into the Elite ranks and granting her more or less total freedom. Shy but extremely devoted, she could almost be said to have two personalities; when in the light, she is an anxious, nervous wreck, unable to communicate very clearly, but as long as she isn't seen and over audio-only lines, she is more confident, ruthless and almost deliberately cruel to her targets. Whether it's out of loyalty or gratitude for still having her life at all, she will carry out anything she is asked to do. A prodigy with poisons, Veno's namesake is the potent mixtures all of her weapons can be slotted or coated with, which even Elites will find hard to purge from their systems completely harmlessly.

  • Shy: Despite being a trained killer and assassin, and a ruthless and efficient one at that, Veno cannot deal with being visible. At all. When people look at her, assuming she is not in the middle of swinging for a deathblow, she freezes in place, she stutters when trying to communicate, and generally seems to lose a lot of her competence. She is still capable of putting up a fight, but will almost certainly attempt to focus all of her efforts on slithering back into the shadows or creating some sort of cover she can hide behind. (CODED EFFECT: If the area Veno is fighting in is well-lit, has few shadows to hide in, or no cover to use at all, her effective PL drops from 33 to 30.)
  • VeinNo: Though she needs neither eat nor sleep, Veno requires a near-daily injection of a chemical known as Vein Normalizer, shorted VeinNo, which keeps the symbiosis between her body and her cybernetics working. Though there won't be any major side-effects if she were delayed by a day or two, past the three days mark without this chemical she'll start experiencing pain and malfunctions. With each passing day the odds grow larger that she'll experience significant, potentially lethal effects. She knows how to make VeinNo (and there's a few different recipes that yield it based on the world she's in) but the ingredients are always fairly hard to find when in a hurry. Medical attention can delay the side-effects of VeinNo withdrawal but not negate them.
  • Not A Fighter: Veno is not a direct combatant. Though under most circumstances she can be just as effective and powerful as one through the use of terrain, shadows and her poisons, if she were forced into a contest of strength, against an powerful opponent who is unaffected by her dirty fighting, she is essentially guaranteed to lose, and not just because of the Shy disadvantage.
  • Takes Orders: As an assassin, Veno is less of a thinker than she is a killer. She prefers to just do what people ask her to and has difficulty making important decisions herself, even in dire circumstances.
