|Profile=When Steve Rogers was picked to be the first test subject of an experimental procedure, he didn't expect to become the world's first superhero - but as Captain America, he became a symbol and an inspiration to many, even after he seemingly sacrificed his life to stop HYDRA from destroying New York. Miraculously surviving in suspended animation, he awoke in the modern day thanks to S.H.I.E.L.D. finding him, and returned to activity under their guidance. He still doesn't tend to call himself a superhero, but he accepts his status as a symbol of American ideals, doing his best to embody and protect them no matter what happens; above all else, he counts himself as a protector of those weaker than himself, willing to lay down his life for their sake if need be.
|Powers=Super Soldier Serum: As a result of the process which Dr. Erskine developed, Steve Rogers was transformed from the proverbial 98-pound weakling into the pinnacle of human physicality. While not truly "superhuman," Rogers possesses strength and speed on par with or exceeding any human athlete, and he maintains his conditioning through a steady regimen of exercise and training. The Serum's continued effects also make him immune to virtually all poisons, toxins, and illnesses, due to his accelerated metabolism.

Shield: Captain America's shield is by far his most recognizable piece of equipment, representing his role as the protector of America's people and its best ideals, and serving as both defensive and offensive weapon. Forged from vibranium, it is said to perfectly absorb vibrations; it's also perfectly balanced for throwing, and Rogers has mastered its use to the point that he can throw it and have it ricochet back to him, bouncing off of surfaces and enemies as needed.

Military Training: Both before and after receiving the Super Soldier Serum, Rogers went through a full course of U.S. Army training, and he's updated his knowledge since awakening in modern times. He's skilled with most contemporary weaponry and tends to be a quick study with weapons he hasn't seen before, and an adept tactician with both conventional and unconventional forces.

Backing and Resources: As an active field operative of S.H.I.E.L.D., Rogers is permitted to requisition various resources and equipment as necessary for a given mission; this typically boils down to weapons (on those occasions that Rogers expects to need more than his shield) and use of a Quinjet.

|Disadvantages=Living Symbol: Captain America is very much a symbol of America and its ideals, and Steve Rogers knows it, for better and for worse. His heroic identity was designed to inspire patriotism during a war, and even though World War II is long over, the symbol remains. On the one hand, this makes Rogers a target of professed enemies of America and what it stands for, but he accepts that as a soldier: better that he be attacked than random innocents. On the other hand, it potentially associates him with versions of America that have abandoned the principles which it once represented - and he doesn't take that nearly as well; should the situation arise, he will be compelled to take action if he can.

Ideals Worth Defending: Rogers believes very strongly in the American dream and the principles on which his nation was founded, and will not compromise on matters of democracy, liberty, or equality. While he balances the right to self-expression against the exigencies of a military organization, he won't let anyone's beliefs be trampled out of hand.
