Time Space Administration Bureau, Magic 101
Date of Scene: 19 January 2015
Location: Galianda
Synopsis: Zephyr teaches a class on Magic at Alexander Academy. Explaining what she knows herself to the students.
Cast of Characters: 39, 162, 626, 627, 633, 642, Lyria Mason, 671, 675

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Afternoon free-class time has an optional slot open! It's hosted by an Extraversal name, some of the students may recognize it, others may not, but the class itself seems interesting enough, right?

Time Space Administration Bureau Magic 101, Zephyr Windstar lecturing. It's slated for an outdoor area, maybe an ampetheatre or some such. As people file in, there's no sign of Zephyr herself, until the last backside lands on a seat.

A spell circle draws into place in an open area, four circles, connected by purple lines, that then fill with mathematical formulae and strange symbols. Atop this flashes a light, revealing Zephyr standing with her arms clasped behind her back. "Yo! I'm Zephyr, some of ya might know me, most of ya won't." she begins, looking across the gathered. "Little 'bout me, then we'll begin. I'm a B-Rank Aerial Mage within the TSAB. My magic system is uncommon within TSAB Ranks, but is similar enough to give you the idea of how things work. Marchian systems focus on raw output at mid-range. Compared to Mid-Childan which balances offense and defense, and Belkan which emphasises Defense and Cross- or Melee-range strength."

She turns to a small dias and takes her bracer off, setting it atop. "Any questions before I begin?"

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
Soan Sagittarius rarely misses the opportunity of taking part of an Extraversal course. He's sitting in one of the seats of the ampetheatre, relaxed against the back of his seat, with his ChocoTablet on his lap. A stylus in hand, he is ready to take some notes. Or some photos, if the need arises.

The Thief raises a hand, punctuating his call to attention with his stylus. "Yes, actually." He says, "Marchian, Mid-Childan and Belkan. That's different nations, or different styles?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra recognizes the name of Zephyr, of course, since she has the special Union hookup and thus access to reports and some of the unclassified profiles. She's already been exposed to some of the TSAB technology and, as usual with Kyra, the verdict was AWESOME. She might not be the only one around here to get inappropriately excited by technology but today she is definitely in one of those moods. She's jockeyed for a front row seat in the ampetheatre via some mysterious, fel means and remains sitting there with her mPad at the ready in her lap.

No sign of Zephyr though. She seems pretty confident that the mage wouldn't intentionally stand them up but there were always outside factors that could get in an Extraversal's way, especially given the whole Shiva situation. But her worries are put to rest as the spell circles appear on the ground.

Kyra promptly lifts her mPad and starts filming this entrance. "Hi!" she waves cheerfully, "Yes! I already have a question! Where do the names for these magic systems come from? Are they regional or named after a founder?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra laughs, "Soan! Get out of my head! It's dangerous in there!"

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
Soan looks at Kyra, shaking his head then letting out a brief laugh. "Can't help it!"

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
Landon is...a bit distracted, today. It's not that he doesn't want to be here. Quite the opposite. He's very interested in the magic of other worlds, particularly the magic that hews close to Galianda's own. From what little he knew and had experimented with, the Time-Space Administration Bureau's magic was extremely close to Galiandan magic - enough that he'd managed a (very) rudimentary parachute spell that kept him from shattering his arm in a very bad situation against a dragon.

     But.../but/.

But right now, he's just sort of...well, he's got big things on his mind. Big issues. The Shivan war always looms in the back of his mind, and prevents him from the carefree days of other teenagers, but right now, there's also a separate, more immediate issue.

So, Landon is sitting in the back of the class (a general decision he tends to make often, because it's safer for the Prince to be able to evacuate immediately) with Cirra, his mPhone concealed with a bit of clever chicanery in order to...well, to have a conversation with her, if necessary.

He's actually doing quite a good job of paying attention to the lecture as well, but that's not really the forefront of his mind right now - it's information to absorb, to review later.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason is curious about this her self for this class and has signed up for it as she pulls her self into a seat and pushes her goggles up ont o her head. She takes a moment to listen to what they have to say it's interesting to hear about multiversal magic and she moves in to sit down. Soan asks a question she was thinking of but Soan was always good at being a step ahead of everyone. She'd not seen any of the tech but was very curious from what she'd heard about it. Lyria also turns on her mPad not to goof about but record the lessons for later use.

"In the line of questioning from the other students. Are they native to like as they said a region on the same planet or an entire world?"

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
It's been a looong couple of days for various reasons. Cassie slides into the area, stuffing something into the bag that rests on her hip, a scowl on her face as she glances around the room swiftly, blue eyes glancing past the near-inseperable pair of Landon and Cirra. She then takes a seat in the middle, resting her blazer in her lap.

She lifts her hand. "Are your ranks in, um, TSAB, like our dungeon clearance rates here?" She asks, curiously. She slides her mPhone into her lap while asking.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Cirra is fine. We're all fine here, how are you?

Primarly the female bodygaurd goes where Landon does, it's her job. But not her Job with a capital J. She's seated in the back with Landon, but has an interest in learning these things as well. She keeps her ToneBerry under the desk. She's allowed by the school since she needs to be aware of alerts.

"Those sound more like fighting styles then magic systems."

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
Souji Murasame is present. He is the man who stands at the top of extracurricular learning. He is taking extensive notes, and it appears that he is recording the lecture as well through his Moogle Glasses. Unlike Landon, Souji sits at the front of the class. Always watching. "I notice that your magical framework appears to rely heavily on mathematical procedures of various styles. I assume the difference in specialty depends on the manner in which the energy is gathered and expended which creates the various specializations of each variant."

He's not framing it in the form of a question, but as a statement that appears to be meant to see if he is on base or not.

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr smirks a bit, at Soan and Kyra asking the same question. "Planet of Origin. They're styles native to the planets of March, Mid-Childa and Belka respectively. Belkan is subdivided into two additional styles. Ancient and Modern. The only difference between them is nomlectural."

To Cassandra she turns next. "I suppose so? I'm not entirely familiar with your ranking system, but TSAB Ranks go from E-Rank, to SSS-Rank, and are based on power, skill and ability. Ranking exams are held when a prospective mage is put forward by their training instructor, or superior officer, whichever takes priority." she explains. "E-Rank mages are the lowest level, often new recruits with no training. SSS-Rank are the most powerful, and there has only been a scant handful of these on record."

Cirra earns a nod. "TSAB Magic is as much magical system as it is combat style. Strike Arts form as much a part of the casting as the spellwork calculations." she expands on that before another question forms. "Strike Arts are a combination of hand-to-hand, and Staff-combat forms which assist all mages when faced with an opponent skilled in melee. We call this engagement type 'Cross Range'."

Souji seems to be very informed. Zephyr looks genuinely surprised. "That's right. Some spells can be crossed from one system to another, but are much less mana-efficient. I have one spell from the other two systems I can show you for demonstration purposes, my time before relearning Marchain was spent juryrigging the other two styles into useable forms."

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra hmmms appreciatively. Three different planets meant three different possible places to visit in the future. Lowering her mPad, she sets it in her lap and seems to be typing on the screen-taking notes, no doubt.

A low whistle escapes her as Zephyr explains that their ranking system goes all the way up to SSS-rank! That's two ranks higher than the dungeon licensing, /crazy/. "I don't think ours even go that high...an SSS-Rank dungeon would be...what, going into Galianda's core?" Such a thought would no doubt draw a few small gasps from the surrounding students since it's a remarkably dumb thing to consider doing.

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
"Such a dungeon classification doesn't exist," Landon replies to Kyra without looking up from his 'notes', "It would be reckless, dangerous, and downright irresponsible for a real expedition that low."

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
Souji looks down and takes additional notes. "That would be the logical method of doing it. I am pleased to see your people have created such advanced methods of handling magical power."

Souji looks over to Kyra with a disapproving expression. "There have to be limits to recklessness even for you, Kyra." He simply comments, as if to add upon Landon's response. He looks back to Zephyr and resumes his studying.

"Your classification system appears to be quite comprehensive. I assume your typical deployment is for combat requirements, which explains why the rankings are based on general combat power and flexibility?"

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
"We don't even know if the two ranking systems match up." Cirra says. "If a B rank of the TSAB is the same as a B-Rank dungeon liscense, the two would be equally matched in overall terms."

"But an SSS Rank mage from the TSAB could be an S Rank dungeon explorer. With a B rank mage the equal of a C Rank Dungeon Runner."

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
Soan is busily noting some of thoses new information down. He's not even looking at where he is writing currently, instead listening to most of the conversation going on right now.

"They are likely based on entirely different criterias, anyways." Soan speaks up, looking at the lecturer in question. "It's kinda hard to make comparaison on that subject."

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
Cassie nods. "So similiar to our licensing, but ... different in its' own way." She also seems slightly distracted by something as she goes to set up a notebook and writing utensil, gnawing on the end of it briefly in concentration before she writes (and types) something down.

She lifts an eyebrow at something though.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason is actually taking notes as well this is actually interesting to her and could very well be of use during extraversal travels. Also it may help gain some insight into Zephyr's world's magitech too.

"I would presume SSS-rank is for your special operations sort or am I reading too much of my world's way of doing thing into it? Humm that's a good point Cirra."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr listens to the questions and theories. "SSS-Rank are extremely powerful, and very, very rare. They're not 'special operations' no, that's a dedicated subdivision of the TSAB called the Enforcers."

"Without knowing how your Dungeoneer liscences work, I can't give any more insight than what I've done already... Instead, Lets move on to the hows of magic in my world, hmm?"

A chime rings out from the bracer, and a large holoscreen emits to show a zoomed in version of Zephyr. Her voice projects through it too so she can be heard clearly. "First, the Power Source for all Magic within TSAB Administered space. THe Linker Core." as she speaks, she lifts her hands up to frame her chest, right above the sternum. Nothing happens for a moment, but then, a glowing orb about the size of a marble rises from the fabric of her jacket, and hovers between her hands. The orb has a discoloured part along one side, an angry looking mauve-red, while the rest is a deep royal purple. It looks vaguely like a swirling sea of stars with a volatile nebula stretched across it. "This if my Linker Core... it's kinda like a Heart that pumps Mana around the body. It acts as a pool to draw from, and regenerates by metabolizing energy from food just like any other organ."

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
Cassie makes a fascinated noise as the Linker Core is displayed. She starts sketching it out on her notebook, noting the different colors and how it just... looks so starry. It's in a way, to Cassie, interestingly beautiful, and it captures her attention.

"Why is it different colors?" She asks, her attention split between the core, Zephyr, her notebook, and something else entirely.

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"I would be most interested in learning about the challenges that your Bureau has to face that requires such power." Souji comments offhandedly.

He looks up, adjusting his glasses slightly as he looks over the emergence of the Linker Core. The swirling lights seem seem to be almost reflected by his glasses, and he nods. "I see. So a magical repository rests within the bodies of all TSAB members and integrates with their normal biological functions. A magitech symbiotic link, of a sort."

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
Soan observes the many-colored orb with some interests. Is this what let them manifest, metabolise magic? Interesting. A sort of artificial organ that allows them to condense and store it, of sorts.

"That's pretty handy." He says, tapping his stylus over his chin. "I bet they're pretty expensive to make, aren't they? Or is that standard issue to all mages after a certain rank?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
"Linker Cores are naturally occuring... at least that's what I've been told anyway." Zephyr doesn't exactly know that detail herself. "As for the different colours, my Core is... flawed." she pauses, and grits her teeth for a moment. She doesn't go into detail though.

She releases a sigh, and lets the orb sink back into her chest. "Dee? Bring up the diagnostic display, Mana Line view." the holodisplay shifts from Zephyr, or a 'paperdoll' overlaid with branching networks of pulsating purple lines. Anyone that's seen diagrams of circulatory systems would be able to make comparrisons between the two. "This is the Mana Line network... this is how mana travels through our bodies and allows it to be directed outwards into spellworks, or inwards into Increase-type spell effects... I'll give you some examples, watch the screen to see how the lines react."

Zephyr then steps from behind her little dias, and lifts her left hand. "Shield-type defensive spell." the diagram shifts to amplify the left hand area, the 'lines' bulking out before 'releasing' a 'cloud' above the hand. The visual effect is a smaller version of the spell seal that brought the teen here in the first place.

Right hand raises. "Barrier-type Defensive Spell." Again the diagram shifts, this time, the lines don't bulk out as much, and the 'cloud' is instead a series of tendrils that form a lattice. "And finally, Field-type Defensive spell." The diagram shifts on last time. The shield and barrier fade away, and the lines draw out from the center to the surface, spreading a 'layer' of energy over the mage's skin, like an armour coat.

Jinx (39) has posed:
From the back of the amphitheatre, there's another person coming in.
Miss Jinx of Zaun, dressed in an Honnounji REVOCS uniform, carrying a bookbag, and a notepad and a look of dirision for the lady up in front of the place. She hops into a seat in the back, and pulls out a pen.

    Wait what?

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason listens as sh hear aqbout how magic works on her teachers world and that's pretty curious about the the linker cores work and she gets some interesting bits of information there. She's also taking more notes ever onwards now.

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
Cassie takes more notes, although at one point she pauses to peer at her mPhone for longer than five seconds. Much longer, actually, although she eventually looks back up, looking slightly embarassed to have touched on a sensitive point with Zephyr, hunching in over her lap and her paperwork.

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"Naturally occurring... I wonder if we might have something similar, and simply have not discovered it yet." Souji posits.

His gaze is attentive as he watches the Mana Line view overlaid across Zephyr. He squints slightly, and writes down something, then continues observing as she demonstrates the visible effects of her using several magics. "The field-type effect is significantly different than the shield and barrier effects, but it is harder to distinguish the mechanical effect between the shield and barrier. Is the former better against some types of attack than others?"

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
"So Belkan fighting magic concentrates on weapon fighting?" Cirra asks. That's of interest to her. "But one could say their are countless fighting styles in Galianda. Especially among those poeoople with two Jobs." As the explination continues she looks over to Landon. He knows more about magic-anatomy interaction then she does, though that might not be much.

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
"Subjob informs and influences the main Job's abilities," Landon confirms after a moment, "There are countless styles in the world. Because it's necessary to learn to fight and gain a Job simply to walk to work, I would say that it's not an exaggeration that there are as many fighting styles as there are people on Galianda, even among those without Subjobs."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
"Yeah, Shield-type spells absorb incoming energy. Barrier-types deflect it. A shield is better against a Bombardment-type beam spell, while Barriers are more effective against multiple impact Shooting-type spells." Replies Zephyr to Souji. "Dee? Roll combat footage, B-23315-A, Shield vs Bombardment." The screen shifts to a 'floating camera' perspective. Two mages are facing off across a battlescape. One in white, the other in black. The white figure charges up a spell, focused in a sphere at the head of their staff. The black figure braces and projects a glowing circular spell circle, which causes the beam to split around it.

While that plays, Zephyr nods to Cirra. "Belkan-style is heavily about defending against damage and closing with an opponent. They use a special system called the Magic Cartridge system to enhance their output for short bursts of time. It's highly dangerous, and not used widely outside of Enforcer teams."

"A side note here. A 'Team' is made up of four members as standard. The Forward acts as the 'tank' as it were, distracting and mitigating damage to their team by being the most annoying thing on the field. They're very hard hitting cross-range fighters with powerful defensive skills. Centers are the long-range specialists, engaging multiple targets from mid- to long-range with Shooting and Bombardment-type spells. They're very fragile by comparison to their Forwards. Guard Wings are high speed multi-range units. They rely on evasion to attack or support from any position, while maintaining combat effectiveness. Finally Full Backs are the support units, using Increase-type spells on their allies, providing external Barrier or Shield types to the team, or disabling opponents with Bind-type spells to restrict movement."

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
As Zephyr describes the team, Cassie looks around... then points at four people as Zephyr finishes the situation. "So ... like Lan-- Prince al Cid, Lyria, Soan, and Kyra." Forward, Center, Guard Wings, Full Back. "Or, tank, deeps, flanker, support."

Jinx (39) has posed:
"What about people who are engaging you in non-magical combat? More convential weaponry, like say explosives or bullets or rockets or actual lasers and crap?"
Jinx is griining in the back of the auditorium, twirling a braid. "How does TSAB handle forces that aren't coming at them with magic?"

    Oh ho.

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
"Shield and Barrier-type spells are equally effective against Mass-based weaponry. It's just another form of Energy, after all." replies Zephyr to Jinx.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Cirra raises an eyebrow at the description of the Cartridge System. "Then Enforcers are in a poistion I can appreciate and understand."

"Sounds like a well balanced Dungeon team." She admits, though of course there are variations, it more or less sounds like a Four-person team for dungeon tests.

"Though my last one had a Ronin. It took... skill, to work with him. They can be unpredictable at times."

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"Aha. That makes sense." Souji nods, and jots down more notes. The video that plays is observed intently. "Using the right tool for the job is important."

Souji does not comment on the Belkan style or Magic Cartridges, but he does reply at the mention of teams. "A functional team uses unified tactics and a balance of specializations in order to accomplish optimal output while remaining flexible enough to adapt to rapidly changing situations. Your described team design is heavily paralleled in our own development. It has long been considered an efficient and effective method of handling most engagement situations. It is good to know your own organization seems to agree."

The mention of Mass-based weaponry causes Souji to arch an eyebrow. "Ah, you ascribe to the idea that physical matter is also a form of energy, then?"

Jinx (39) has posed:
Jinx leans forward a bit. "Really? Interesting. What sort of effort changes the police procedure if you're usin' magic to blow people up and stuff instead of arresting them? Or are you folks not all that interest in minor time crimers?"
Jinx points her pen at the Academy students. "I know that some of the people here are learning to be Judges so I'm sure they'd all love to hear about how police work all around the Multiverse."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr nods to Cirra. "There's variations, some teams have no Center but two Forwards. My experience puts teams together based on synergy... how well the members work together regardless of their skill set... Sometimes, knowing who you're fighting with makes the difference skills sets can't."

Souji's comments earn a shrug. "Don't look at me for that... m'just sayin' what I know from experience. Bullets and mass-based weapons can be deflected or absorbed just like a Bombardment or Shooting spell. The shield just leaves behind a flat chunk of metal from the bullet." Kinetic energy.

Jinx's goading remarks, whether she means them to be or not is getting on Zephyr's nerves. "TSAB Standard protocol for intervention states that Stun-mode must be observed. Lethal force is only authorized when all other avenues of arrest have been exhausted."

"Back to the lesson plan though, sorry for that tangent... Let me demonstrate the difference between a Belkan, and a Mid-Childan spell of the same type. Dee? Diagnostic view again please." The bracer gives off another chime in agreement, before Zephyr holds out both hands. "Shield type spell. Tri-shield, and Round shield." The manalines pulse. Left side ripple along the lines up the arm, until a structured lattice forms in front of the hand. The visual effect is a triangular spell circle with a stylized star/cross in the middle. The right arm drains of mana, before a surge pulses outwards, and a solid 'panel' of energy forms. The visual aspect of /this/ is a glowing, circular seal, much like the one from the video.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason Watches the footage and that gets an eyebrow raise as the amount of fire power is bing thrown about by the mages it's nothing to sneeze. AS Zephyr goes on with the lession she's getting a good idea.

"It does seem like a set up Dungeon team it really does."

She also takes note of the mass based weapony comment.

"Not all non magic using world rely on such weaponry either. There are no magicaly energy weapons as well."

She listens to the lethal force bit and that's a curious thing but she can respect a law enforcement group doing that.

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
Soan has remained most of the lesson silent, observing, watching, taking good notes of what was said, and other questions. Including less innocently asked ones. Knowledge of police procedures on other organizations is always a plus to know when you're in his line of work. He leans foward when the spells are casted. Or rather, demonstrated.

He don't really know the differences in magical meaning of the different forms, other than he know that none of them are related to Chaos.

"All very geometric." Soan comments, noting it down in memory, tapping on his tablet. It wakes up with a muted 'kweh' at the activation, noting back more stuff. "I takes it they both have different magical meanings?"

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Between grousing at something silently for /mysterious reasons/, Kyra holds up the mPad again to record the Device in action. "...hm, interesting. A visual representation of the different calculations going on in the device, I take it."

Cassandra Dolet (671) has posed:
Cassie's *quietly* taking notes, which is a bit of a shocker in and of itself. She's kind of just... deflated.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Cirra leans her cheek on one hand as she watches the demonstration. "It seems you use patterns, but they're highly ordered. You don't walays see these kinds of magic circles in Galianda, but there are few powers that use something similar."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr releases the spells, and stands there a moment, taking a few breathes to relax after that exertion. "Mmmn... The difference is in execution, really. It's hard to put to words... but I can show you the formulae for each Shield... might not make any sense though." she says, rubbing the back of her head. "Anyway, to the last part, how Manalines and Devices interact. Those spells were entirely from me, my brain calculating the formulae and applying the mana. Inefficient, but necessary to be a strong mage."

Zephyr reaches back, does a quick flick of her right wrist, and levitates the bracer over to her. She puts it back on, then takes the Core Matrixs from the housing. "This is my Device, Divine Wind. Some of you'll have met her on the radio, others in person. She is an Intelligent Device, sporting a fully self aware AI and a suite of sensors that monitor battlefield conditions. Say hello, Dee."

Divine Wind chimes happily. <Hello Dee!> Zephyr deadpans. "Har har har, hilarious... She's also got a twisted sense of humor she picked up from some Multiversal internet site or other. Anyway, a breakdown of Device types... At the bottom of the ladder are Storage Devices. They feature only the basic mana flow controls and assistive calculation systems. They're more mana-efficient, but still rely entirely on the Mage's skill."

"Secondly are Armed Devices. These originated on Belka and after the Empire collapsed have become more scarce. They're heavily reinforced, and have a basic AI system that can assist the mage with Auto-Cast, and spell selection." The screen behind her shows a basic Storage Device. It looks like a long staff with a tuning fork at the end, with a blue gemstone at the crux of the fork. It's being wielded by a man wearing a uniform similar to Zephyr's own. The screen 'splits' down the center, and a stock image of a hammer appears on the other half. It doesn't have a visible gemstone, only two cylindrical hammer heads, attached to a metal sphere. It has a spike protruding from the outer edge of the sphere, and a strange assembly just below the head leading into a red-hued haft.

"And as I stated before, Intelligent Devices have an advanced AI system. They're more fragile than Armed Devices, but their purpose is as a magical focus, rather than a melee weapon, though they can still be used as such. Divine Wind Storm. Set up Device Mode."

<STANDBY READY! SET UP! DEVICE SET, WINDSHEAR FORM!> The 'coin' glows brightly, then expands outwards with various mechanical whirrs, clicks and CLANKS as mechanisms form and align. After a moment, the coin is now a six foot long battleax with a deep blue gemstone set between two crescent-shaped purple metal blades.

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"Geometry is a visual representation of mathematics. If the magic is based on mathematcs, of course they would be different shapes for variations of style. There are multiple ways to accomplish the same goal." Souji comments.

Jinx (39) has posed:
Jinx... is taking sketches. Like, rapid sketches, looking up at the TSAB agent and then her sigils and the device axe and all of that. Hmmmm
Also more drawing. Frowns. Concerned look at the sudden change of stance.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"How heavy is that in Device Mode?" Kyra asks, intensely curious. The biggest problem she's always had with melee weapons was that they were super heavy. She just couldn't lift a big battle axe. But this didn't look heavy at /all/.

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"Artificial intelligence." Souji comments. "It has been theorized, and you have made it possible. But then, the fundamentals of your world are highly divergent. The Devices that have been spoken of... Are Intelligent Devices the most common in use in your organization? They appear to be the most fully functional for the intention of taking up the burden of mathematical calulations. Additionally, what restrictions are laid upon the operations of a Device? Are they capable of harming their wielders?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Divine Wind fields this one. <Intelligent Devices are relatively rare. They are custom made for their Master by a specialist engineer known as a Device Meister. We have systems installed that prevent us from harming our Master, though we are entirely loyal to them. We are much akin to a Vehicle. Without a 'Driver' there is little we can do alone.> The device pings softly. <Storage Devices are much more common, as they can be easily manufactured, and replaced should one break under stress. They also have shorter Syncronization times than comparable Intelligent and Armed models.>

Lyria Mason has posed:
More notes yet again are taken and then she stops as she looks at the Device which is behold she looks to Divine wind and grins a little bit.

"Hello to you."

She goes quiet again listening so AI's along with magi tech humm that's curious and soon.

"So it's a partnership tp mae things work properly."

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
Souji nods. "That makes sense. The simpler assistance devices are easier to assemble and master." He then arches an eyebrow and asks Zephyr, "What kinds of stresses do a Device normally experience? Is there a great deal of variance in their breaking points in active usage?"

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
"Armed Devices?" That gets Cirra's attention in a big way. And she notices how Souji's attention has become fixated on them as well. Those are awfully specific questions. She narrows her eyes slightly, he couldn't be considering trying to reverse engineer them, could? Of course he is. The question is if the principles would apply to Galianda's magic, or if the concept could just be applied to what they already have.

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr shrugs. "I'm not a Device Meister, you'd have to ask one'a them about that." she replies to Souji. "Anyway, Some Devices have more than one Form, apart from the Standby form." she continues, twirling the Device around and slamming the head into the ground, causing the blade to sink into the floor and kicking up a bit of debris. The device /looks/ heavy, but the girl's swinging it around one handed.

<My current mass is five kilograms, mostly located around the axe blades.> provides Divine Wind helpfully towards Kyra.

"This is Windshear form. I consider it Divine Wind's Default mode. It's an Area Control-type that has good manaline linkage for Bombardment, and Shooting type spells, but can also be reinforced to perform Cross-range attacks." she explains, then lifts the axe above her head. "Mistral form!" the Device PINGS resonantly, and again becomes engulfed in purple light. It shrinks down, one blade spalling off into a pair of turbine-blade like spinning 'drones' that orbit the mage. THe remaining blade becomes more wickedly curved and halberd-like. "This is Divine Wind's Alt-mode, Mistral Form. It's an Armed Wing-type that specializes in Cross-range. The manalines that provide Bombardment support are fewer in number, but are replaced by more flow controls to reinforce the structure and enhance the blade for cross-range strikes. The two floating things are known as 'Bits' They have multiple uses that I won't go into as they're unique to Divine Wind.

Soan Sagittarius (633) has posed:
"Transformable /and/ intelligent." Soan comments, ponderous. "Now that is rather advanced. Is this common issue?"

Lyria Mason has posed:
the Talk of Armed Devices has her attention to given her own weapons production So she's always eager to learn evne more.

"I am curious so how long have devices like your self been in production, Divine Wind?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr shakes her head. "Like Dee said, ID's are custom built."

Lyria earns a chime. <Intelligent Devices have been around since the early days of Mid Childa. Exact times are unavailable, but Intelligent Devices have been around for quite some time, in one form or another.>

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
Souji rubs his chin speculatively. "So you use alternate forms to compnsate for specalizations and shift whenever it is appropriate. What are the typical opposition you face that you normally use these Devices to face?"

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Cirra makes a note on her ToneBerry before she goes back to observing the class, and her classmates. "These Devices seem to be entirely for combat. Is there any form of civil use Device or general use magic?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
"Well, I'm a Combat Mage! But yeah, lotta Civil Service mages use Storage Devices. Fire fighters, domestic police, there's Medical Mages like Miss Shamal who help tend the wounded." replies Zephyr to Cirra.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason gets the idea the devices have been around for a long time and has to wonder how they came to be but she gets the feeling that's a question best saved for a lter time.

Souji Murasame (627) has posed:
"I believe our two worlds have a great deal to share with one another." Souji says, entering another note. "I think I will look forward to seeing what options might become available in closer examination once the Shivan situation is... resolved."
