Eliot Ness (264) has posed:
"I'm pretty sure she's going to be here. It's the last one to check," Ness says to a companion (probably Homura) as he gets out the key to the LAST one of his safehouses in Chicago. He may have said this to Homura a dozen or so times before this exact moment. This particular safehouse was a single apartment above a pawn shop.

But the detective is pretty certain that Pinkie would have come to Chicago after the events of her world. Divided Equestria had too much heat. Regular Equestria had too many people to ask questions. Ness was simply banking on her coming to the guy who never asked questions.

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
"Mhm," Homura says, chewing on a chorizo burrito she may have stolen from Psyber. She sees no reason to doubt Ness' guesses, but mostly, doesn't really know the assassin well enough to say where she'd go after that mess. As welcoming as some places may have made themselves, they just weren't ideal. Like the other Equestria.

She is dressed a bit more loosely today, that is to say white shirt and black pants, not the full secretary getup. It's the weekend, cut her some slack, she dresses nice and clean five days a week. Not that she especially minds.

"What next, anyway? The more we find out about the Archmagister the more I'm thinking we need to get a full look at her activities, but that's not really an easy thing to do."

Pinkie (470) has posed:
Divided Equestria is a shithole, and the other Equestria is too bright and cheery for Pinkie's current mood. The sefehouse doesn't SEEM to be in use, with the lights out, and no sounds from within. It's from behind the federal agent ant Puella Magi that Pumpkin appears. It's easier for her to move around Chicago than her brother. All she has to do is wear a hat.
No mask today, which means the young Jester is hiding in plain sight by bearing her face, she just... Walks between the two and opens the lock without a word, a bag of groceries in one arm. And then she motions for them to follow on in.
Pound is inside, idly twirling his baseball bat, dressed like a typical 1929 chicago boy, aside from the big pair of wings sprouting from his back.
And then there's the lump on the couch, hidden under a blanket, that doesn't want to move.

Eliot Ness (264) has posed:
"To be honest, I'm still figuring that out. There's a lot of pieces in motion, and I don't wanna even touch the board while the irons are this hot," Ness says to Homura seriously, hands in his pockets, "I think all sides need to be dealt with in their own way."

He actually seems surprised when Pumpkin opens the door and inside they find Pound and Unidentified Couch Lump, "Finally." He says at having found the right one. As he heads inside, he takes three one-dollar bills out of his coat, "Pound. Pumpkin. I need you two to go see a talkie and get some snacks at the soda fountain. I have something I need to show these two that's top secret."

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
"Yes, doing anything right now would probably be bad. But eventually they'll cool, and we need to know ahead of time what we're doing when that happens. To every involved party, unless one turns out to be significantly less broken and corrupt than the others," Homura answers, before shutting up on the subject at the sight of the twins (well, one first, then the other) and the lump under the blankets.

She lets Ness handle it, because she has no idea what this meeting is really about to start with. Also because the player is eating.

Pinkie (470) has posed:
Pound and Pumpkin glance at one another briefly. But when a hand pokes out from under the blanket lump to wave them off in a display of trust, the twins are gone in a flash. A nimble clamber out the window and up the fire escape and Pound heads up to hit the roof, while Pumpkin slides back out the door.
Now the lump sits up, a green eye peeking out from under the rumpled sheets. "Oh. You two. What a pleasant surprise." Pinkie doesn't sound all that enthused, but it's a byproduct of bad mood more than issue with either of the pair. "Top secret, huh?"

Eliot Ness (264) has posed:
To Homura, Ness nods his head, "I have yet to fully determine my next move. I will continue to serve as her guardian while I also continue to attempt to guide Pinkie where I can." He notes to the girl, "The others I can take or leave."

Though then Pinkie mentions the top secret thing, "Yes. You have both shared your secrets with me, albeit one of you was less than willing," Ness notes as he walks through the apartment. He hangs up his hat on a hook and carefully steps across the floor, "Please be aware that you are both to tell no one. If this ever got out..." He looks to Homura, "To either faction," He then looks around, "It would almost certainly result in my death."

Ness slowly walks to the far wall and taps it with his knuckles a few times, "Ah. So here is where it is in this one..." He goes to a phone sitting on a desk and turns the rotary several times. The last number makes a loud CLICK noise, and then something in the wall disengages. It turns on a hinge and opens up to reveal a closet. All along the walls of the closet are knives and guns. In the center of it all, hanging on a mannequin, are a set of white clothes that look like World War 1 Combat Fatiques, but white with red accents. It also has a hood and facemask.

"To serve the light, I shroud myself in darkness. I am Assassin."

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
"My lips are sealed, mostly because I expect people who know what I can do not to talk either," Homura answers, having no intentions to divulge anything here. Though she doesn't know what to expect, admittedly, she doubts Ness holds a secret so great and dangerous she'd be duty-bound to at least tell Nathan.

And it turns out not to be-- well, it is certainly a big secret, but not one anyone needs to know. She glances at the contents of the closet, then towards Ness. "I would not have expected that. There was an Assassin order of some magnitude in the past, but from all accounts they were not especially good at concealing themselves. Does the Hidden Blade remain a weapon of choice even in this era of firearms and ranged combat?" A legitimate question, because knives in a gunfight, etc. But then Ness is trained, so maybe it is fully viable.

"... a tangent. What of Capone? I believe the Assassins fight a certain order in every era, don't tell me there's more to him than an organized mafia?"

Pinkie (470) has posed:
That is certainly something worth keeping under wraps. That green eye follows the path of Ness' fingers to the phone, and then the click draws Pinkie's attention upwards when the wall slides aside to reveal the hidden cache of weaponry and costume, the clown's eye widens fractionally. The blanket slides back in a rare display of trust, revealing lavender-pink hair, and scarred face- albeit for a moment as one hand rises to rub at her forehead at the beginnings of a low and soft chuckle.
"An assassin." It's ironic. Amusing to her even. Though the connotations of The Brotherhood are unknown to her, anyone operating under the title of an assassin, who is GOOD, of course has a vaguely similar modus operandi.
"In a way, that explains a lot." She practically croaks.

Eliot Ness (264) has posed:
"He is Templar," Ness begins to Homura, "Prohibition is a conspiracy. Government made alcohol illegal, the Templars control its supply. I work inside the system to use it against them," He explains, sighing a bit, "It's why my position is so dangerous. If my secret were to ever get out, I would likely vanish without a trace."

"The Hidden Blade has evolved," Ness explains, holding an arm out to Homura. He moves his wrist slightly and a combat knife appears in his hand in an instant. He moves the knife to his opposite hand and tilts it a bit and the knife is gone, "I still use guns, though. They both have tactical uses. Knives are better in close range, but I wouldn't use anything but a gun to siege a building."

"And yes, the other order. When I first ventured into the Multiverse, I came across their... recruitment fliers. This, and their roster of allies, brought me to the conclusion I could not trust them with my secret," Ness notes, thinking it over, "Not when my position is so delicate. You two are only the second and third I have ever shared it to."

And finally to Sweetie Belle, "Yes. An assassin." He leans against a wall, slowly pulling the door shut again, "I believe there is hope for your world, but an Assassin needs to learn to set their personal feelings aside. There is hope for you, I suspect there to be hope for Twilight. But there is great work to be done, and it will require a newfound purpose and direction if you wish to carve the world's freedom with a blade."

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
"Hope is a strong word that gets misused a lot," Homura cuts in, frowning. "By those who think it alone will see you through bad days. By those who think because there is hope anything is permitted. By those who think you can just turn back time and make everything go back to how it was." She shrugs. She's been guilty of it. But in the matter of that Equestria, it is misused more than not.

"And I see. So even Tesla doesn't know? And the Untouchables? Does Capone even know what he's dealing with?" It changes the game quite a bit, in a way, so information is good.

Eliot Ness (264) has posed:
Ness shakes his head to Homura, "I do not speak of that hope. I speak of hope that one can cut the strings binding others down. Hope that while you cannot fix every problem, you can fix just enough that the next generation can build on your work." He says this in a serious tone, "Hope that you can make even the smallest difference in a time of darkness. I do not believe the world can be saved wholesale, with all people redeemed, and with all things as they were."

"But I believe that if the right people are silenced, if the pieces are positioned right, and if the corpses are buried properly... that it can reach something resembling functionality." He looks over to her, "That is my hope. Not to fix everything, but to remove enough decay and rot so that new flesh can grow. A blade does not steer the world, a blade is best for surgery."

"The Untouchables are all Assassins. Tesla used to work for the Brotherhood until the Tunguska Incident. But outside of our Brotherhood, no one knows. Not even Capone, though he may suspect I am more than merely a cop," He notes, crossing his arms a bit. He's willing to answer Homura's questions for now.
