Date of Scene: 03 February 2015
Location: Njorun Station - Ring of Philosophy
Synopsis: Riva introduces two of the Little Sisters to practical self defense course with practice knives and also maybe ice cream at the Ring of Philosophy
Cast of Characters: 40, Riva Banari

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
If thiswas meant to be a picnic before, it certainly is now. The Ring is nice and warm compared to the branches of the Station this season, and the girls are out in force in their pretty sundresses and their ribbons and stains on said dresses from dirt and cake, it would seem. The four youngest girls are hanging out with Eleanor today, because the two oldest ones are getting a special 'treat'.
The Fun Aunt is gonna show them how to 'fight', maybe, hopefully. Cassie and Billie are standing out on one of the little practice greens, a holographic rack of gear at the ready, wearing the lightweight traning gear that the Union provides for the Ring. Boy do they look ready, boy howdy.

Riva Banari has posed:
WELCOME TO FUN AUNT TIME, FEATURING RIVA.

She's present in her Templar uniform with the same Union training gear on her own body. "Hey Cassie! Billie! How are you both doing? Are you ready to learn how to kick some ass?" The points dramatically. "RIGHT!"

She heads over to one of the racks, looking over the weapons there. "Now, I know you girls can do some really cool stuff with your powers, but it's always good to have backups. Sometimes you can't use your powers for one reason or another, and you need to be prepared for anything."

She looks back to the two ladies, and then picks up a couple of smaller knives, carrying them over to the girls. "We'll start with knives. They're useful self defense weapons that can also be used for a lot of utility situations, they can be used at extremely close range, they're easy to conceal..." And Riva shrugs. "And in the Multiverse, there's a lot of really cool daggers and knives."

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
    COOL DAGGERS, COOL KNIVES YESSSSSSS.
Cassie takes her little knife with aplomb, carefully weighing it in her hand like the Biggest Little Sister should. She puffs up and looks VERY ATTENTIVE TO RIVA THIS IS SO AWESOME.

Billie on the other hand, starts swishing her knife dramatically like a sword making wooshing noises... and then tags Cassie in the arm, the hit earning a 'blat' of noise from the training gear and registering a mark.
    Cassie shoves Billie.

And before this can escalate, Eleanor speaks up. "GIRLS. What are the rules of self defense?"
The two girls sigh and slump their shoulders. "Rule one: Scream and run and find a grownup to help you. Rule two: if that doesnt' work, think real hard at the baddie until they go way."

"Rule three: never ever talk to Kyubees."

Eleanor nods and smiles to Riva. "Take it away, sensei."

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva starts flailing when they start poking each other. "Hey hey ladies! It's too early for that!" Eleanor gets them back into gear, though Rule Three causes her to squint. 'Never talk to Kyubees', she mouths, thinking for a moment, and then shrugs, and gets back to business.

"All right, so, you might have seen movies where the ninje pulls out a knife and holds it in a sweet reverse-blade maneuver like so." She flips a knife of her own in her hand, holding it like that.

She shakes her head. "Don't do that. All it takes is one good hit and you'll be slicing up your own arm." She sighs. "Believe me, I learned that the hard way. That leads into the first thing to remember about knife fighting." She flips it back around, holding it straight. "The first thing to remember about a knife is to never, ever point it at anything you don't want to see get stabbed. Including yourself." She holds it, point down towards the ground. "If you need to hand a knife to someone, you hold it by the blade and present it to them handle first, like I did for you both."

She then turns and sheathes the blade in a belt sheath. "When carrying a knife, always make sure you're carrying it in a place you can safely draw it in a smooth, fast motion. That's going to take a lot of practice." She demonstrates by quickly pulling the blade from its sheath and adapting a defensive posture. "When you're used to it, you'll be able to do it fast enough to have it handy whenever you might need it."

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
Cassie is the first to talk on that point. "So it's like a gun, right? Be sure of your target and only point at what you intend to destroy." She sounds like she's reciting that one, but she looks over her shoulder for confirmation with Eleanor, who nods.
Billie looks excitedly over at Riva and hops a little bit on the balls of her feet, noticably puting little bounces into the springy 'grass' of the trainign area. She's excited.

Riva Banari has posed:
"Exactly, Cassie!" Riva congratulates her, and claps. Next, she calls up a dummy of an average-looking human. "Now, you ladies are still growing, so you're not going to win any strength contests at this point unless you can back it up with some of your cool stuff. We're not looking to do that, though, we need to learn the basics before we can get fancy. A normal attacker is probably going to underestimate you." The dummy steps forward and makes a grabbing motion towards RIva, who makes a quick stepping in motion and slashes the arm in a smooth motion. The dummy turns red in the struck position and the arm goes limp. "You're only going to take them by surprise once, so make it count. I just disabled that guy's arm for months. The knife is a defensive weapon, it's much better to maim or disable your opponent than to kill them."

She leans in and winks. "Besides, killing is kind of a jerk move." She stage-whispers.

"Anyway!" She summons up a couple more dummies. "These dummies are going to attempt to make basic grabs at you. I'm going to highlights the spots you should try to hit and demonstrate motions to hit those spots. Then we're going to practice, practice, and practice!"

She pauses, smiling. "The one who does the best gets an extra scoop of ice cream after we're done!"

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
OH MAN, ICE CREAM. Eleanor rolls her eyes at that a bit as the younger ones start getting really excited about ice cream in general. Cassie and Billie look up at the dummy, before nodding sagely.
Bille looks firmly up at the dummy-man-baddie and then at Riva. "Killing is bad. Hurting is okay only if they really want to hurt us, and Hank isn't around."

Hank is in fact NOTABLY ABSENT TODAY. I wonder why.

Surprise is a good thing though, and Cassie gets up first, looking at the dummy man and waiting for the moment. He lunges forward, and... and the Little Sister YAHHS and swats at the man with the knife... maybe a little wildly. It sweeps and registers as 'this hit would have sunk to the bone maybe'. Uh.
She then steps back and smiles up at Riva. ICE CREAM. SHE'S GONNA BE THE BEST.

Riva Banari has posed:
It's okay. Riva would be perfectly fine later on.

In like an hour. Or something.

Don't make Hank mad.

"Of course, Billie, but we're assuming you already followed Steps One, Two, and Three that Mom taught you."

When Riva sees the registered hit from the knife, she blanches a bit. "... Wow. You ladies are a lot stronger than I thought! We're going to need to keep that in mind! Remember to hold back a bit, we don't want to hurt them more than absolutely necessary to scare them off!"

Riva begins showing the two girls several defensive knife stances, disarming maneuvers, and ways to quickly and efficiently disable an attacking person. Riva also points out what spots will likely kill someone if you stab them in it (and so are bad).

There's a lot of practicing. Mom wanted the ladies to learn, so Riva's going to teach!

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
Billie ha ha has as Cassie gets scolded for hitting too hard, and Eleanor smiles and waves. "Riva, let's try turning up the difficulty just a smidge to make sure we're working with people who would likely be trying to steal the girls more often than not." Like, not mook level.
THough the defensive techniques and such get the girls' most rapt attention, to be certain. Lots of yaahs and hiiiis and yelling too when they go through their stances. Looks like at least Cassie and Billie have someone in their blood who know akido or some sort of martial art, as that sense starts to settle into the pair the more they work with Riva.

Later on though, it's Billie who first swats one of the dummies with a little shock of lightning first before sticking the man in the hip.

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva nods. "It's true!" Riva turns and modiffies the settings on the dummy projections, making them tougher, faster, and stronger. She also adds in some nonhumans into the mix.

Riva continues to observe them and keep track of their progress, correcting and commenting, and definately congratulating them when they do something well. "You ladies are really good at this! I'm glad to be working with such good learners!" She gives Billie a thumbsup when she learns how to do the old one-two. "Wow! That's really impressive, Billie! Nice combination! Keep this up and you guys will be ready for anything! Now keep practicing for a bit and I'll be watching from over by Mom, okay?"

She steps over to where Eleanor is watching, and she crosses her arms. "These kids are so gifted that I think Professor X would call bull." She jokes, and then sighs. "I'm just sorry that we live in a multiverse where kids needs to learn this kind of thing to be safe." She looks back over to where the kids are undoubtedly exuberantly beating up dummies. "One day, though..."

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
Mary ees excitedly as Riva comes over and the kindergartener clings to Aunt Riva's leg, hughughuging. Eleanor shakes her head a bit, watching the girls in the yard working on their training.
The Big Sister sighs a bit, deflating at Riva's words. "That's the world we came from and the world we live in now. Though... the girls are more vulnerable now than before. I know that the Union is here to protect us all, but... they were used to having Big Daddies around and this... this is important too."

Cassie over on the yard pokes a dummy and then kicks it very hard in the shin. Bruised bone at least on that one.

Eleanor smiles and shakes her head. "This is why I'm so happy to have you and Inga and the rest. Maybe not Wuyin. He is Not Allowed to teach the girls. Yet."

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva immediately picks up Mary and hugs her relentlessly, showering her in kisses. "You're also a wonderful little girl." She says, holding her close and smiling to Eleanor. "Yeah, I know. With any luck they'll be able to live out their lives never needing to use what they learn here." She winces at the sight of Cassie kicking a guy's shin, and calls out, "Nice shot, Cassie! Keep them off balance!" She looks back to Eleanor, more quietly. "I want these girls to be happy and healthy. How can you look at them and not want the best, you know? I'm happy to help myself. I mean, Templar weapons training might not be the best for them, but it's something..." She chuckles. "I can only imagine what Inga's up to." She tilts her head at the mention of Wuyin. "You never know what Wuyin will be up to. Maybe he'll just teach them how to cheat at coin flips. Or maybe he'll turn them into sleeper agents for some insane plan in 40 years. You never know how Dragons work."

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
Eleanor snorts at the shin kick, but doesn't stop the training. Mary gets KISSES YAY and then she's clinging to Riva as the other girls are busy raiding the big cooler Elle brought along. Notable in the icebox are those Totally Not Capri Suns.
Elle's sad voice picks up a little bit. "Really, I just... I just need them and want them to be happy, you know? and find proper homes. They can't live with me forever, especially once they hit... puberty. They'll need special care and attention at that point." Elle pets at Alice who sits down and looks up at Riva. "We're not supposed to turn into Big Sisters by ourselves."

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva nods. "Yeah. Yeah. I'm just not sure what can be done about that. Did you try talking to the Union people about it? Do you think they have some kind of crazy multiversal adoption program?" She thinks about this for a moment. "What a situation." She says offhandedly, snuggling Mary a bit. Little girls are always a good way to ward off sadness, right?

"We'll find a way to work it all out. I'm not exactly mom material myself. Hell, I don't know if I can even have kids anymore, but I'll do what I can to help."

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
"Oh they do, but the placements have been slowing down for a while... Just has been a little... I mean, it's nice to see them go but it's hard to see them go. I'm not their mom, I'm a Big Sister."

Uh oh. There's yelling over at the field, where Billie and Cassie are now trying to manhandle a 8 foot tall guy whose AI seems befuddled by young ladies crawling up on top of him. Elle sighs and rubs at her face.

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva nods. "I understand. But you'll see them again later, I'm sure. It doesn't have to be forever."

The yelling causes Riva to look over... and she breaks out laughing. "Oh my god, you two are adorable!" She pauses. "And a little scary." She carries Mary over and lets her push a button on the controls for the training area. Once the button is pushed, the holographic dummy vanishes, possibly sending the little girls tumbling to the ground. Riva comes over to them and smiles. "Okay, I think that will be enough training for now, little ladies. I think it's time we all went out for ice cream to celebrate! You both did so well, I think you're both going to get the extra scoops!" She leans in and stage whispers, "Don't tell Mom, all right?" She winks exaggeratedly. She knows Eleanor can probably easily hear her from there.

Eleanor Lamb (40) has posed:
"I HEARD THAT RIVA. DO NOT GET MY GIRLS HOPPED UP ON SUGAR."
