Suit Up, Heroes!
Date of Scene: 10 March 2015
Location: Tomoeda-865
Synopsis: Dragon and Defiant need clothes for a beach party. Tomoyo is happy to provide!
Cast of Characters: 554, Tomoyo Daidouji

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
Spring has yet to come in Tomoeda, but it is stirring. The rain that falls is far gentler than the heavy downpours that have come and gone over winter. Trees and bushes are starting to sprout buds in preparation to bloom once more. Around town, there is still quite a bit of hustle and bustle, parents and children shopping for supplies as the new school year looms.

Tomoyo's Boutique is mostly untouched by this shopping rush, save a few who come to get uniforms they have yet to outgrow repaired. The store is empty at the moment, save Tomoyo at the counter, idly drawing designs into a sketchbook, awaiting the arrival of two superheroes!

Defiant (554) has posed:
It took some talking, but it seems like someone talked the pair into ditching their distinctive green and gold power armor. They enter the store like anyone else, wearing casual clothing that doesn't seem quite right on them. Jeans, tee-shirt, casual shoes. They're both tall and muscular, easily six feet.

Dragon is eerily average in appearance. Her dusky skin tone, long dark hair and sharp facial features render her hard to place as any particular ethnicity. She walks hand in hand with Defiant, a severe-looking man who sports a cybernetic arm and close-cropped brown hair. They seem like any other couple out for a bit of clothes shopping.

"Tomoyo?" Dragon asks, favouring her with a bright smile. "I'm Tess and this is Colin. We're looking for something to wear to a beach party - apparently you're the person to come to."

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
As the little bell above the door chimes, Tomoyo looks up, quickly turning to a fresh page in the sketchbook. As a tailor, she has an eye for when people are in clothes they aren't used to. And these two are just screaming that right now. Well, it is a good thing that superheroes don't need to be stealthy, she supposes~

"Welcome to Tomoyo's Boutique~" she says, offering a quick bow to each of them. "Oh, a beach party? I was expecting a commission for formalwear for a superhero fundraiser or something~" She giggles as she critically examines the pair, picking up her pencil as she quickly sketches their general body shape onto the sketchbook.

"Okay! I have a question for each of you." First, she points her pencil at Tess. "One-piece swimsuit, or two-piece~?" Next, she points at Colin. "Does that arm need to be protected from seawater? I could design a sleeve that matches the trunks!"

Defiant (554) has posed:
Dragon returns the bow, while Colin nods. It's a curt motion from him but there's a certain politeness to it.

"In those two situations," Dragon replies, "We can get away with our armour. But parties are a different affair. Let's go with a two-piece, and perhaps something to wear over it."

Colin raises his prosthetic hand and the limb clicks and whirrs quietly as he moves it. "No, it's airtight," he grunts out. And then, after a moment, "But thank you for the offer."

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
Tomoyo nods, looking at the whirring, clicking arm with awe for a moment, before shaking her head quietly and putting pencil back to paper. "So uh~ I like giving my outfits a lot of 'little details.' But, with swimwear, there's usually not enough fabric to put in that kind of thing. If I start getting too elaborate, don't be afraid to say so, okay~?"

She starts to draw, starting with the sketch of Tess. Starting with a simple bikini template... well, she wasn't kidding when she said 'elaborate.' First of all, she seems to draw frills along the straps and hems, but annotates them with, 'look up lizard spines for inspiration!' The clasp for the bikini top receives its own sketch in the corner, of a dragon-esque ouroboros. The cups and the bottom half have patterns like scales. Tomoyo carefully considers Tess for a moment, before annotating them with 'darker shade of red?'

Then, she looks at Colin once more, and draws on his figure a template for loose swimming trunks. They reach to the knee, and then below that, some netting extends to mid-shin. On the top half, she starts drawing designs based on circuit boards, annotating with 'black with neon green designs!' On the netting, she notes 'make the gaps look like zeros' and then in between them, she draws ones.

When she's done, she turns the book to the pair so they can see. "If you have any suggestions, let me know!"

Defiant (554) has posed:
"Okay, Tomoyo," Dragon replies. She watches Tomoyo sketch very closely, seeming interested in the artistic skill on display just as much as the content. "I'm liking it so far," she says as Tomoyo works, a smile building across her face. "Would green be a better color choice than red?" she asks. "I'll admit I'm not much of an expert when it comes to planning the aesthetics of an outfit, however. Just curious. But watching you work is intriguing."

"No suggestions here," Colin remarks, taking stock of the sketch of him and the design there. "It's impressive work. Color's fine. Pattern's fine."

Dragon lets out a little 'hmm'. "Perhaps we could match in some fashion?"

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"If you prefer green, that's fine!" Tomoyo says reassuringly as she erases the word from the page and replaces it with 'red.' She nods to Colin, but then when Dragons asks if they could match, her eyes widen. They look from one superhero to the other in a rapid way, a smile creeping up on her face.

"Oh, of course~" she says in a playful tone, turning the book back towards her. She makes a few more annotations on Tess's outfit, to keep it green and black like Colin's trunks, but with a more subdued green. Next, she quickly sketches a thin jacket that would cover Tess up. But, when she's not wearing it, she can turn it inside out and have it hang from her bikini bottom so it covers one leg. The inside actually bears the same circuitry pattern as Colin's trunks.

Speaking of, she quickly makes some changes to those as well. First, she draws another ouroboros around the waistband, making the cords the head and tail. She also includes some scale patterns here and there on the trunks themselves.

Turning the book back to them once more, she beams. "How's this~?"

Defiant (554) has posed:
"Perfect," the pair say in unison, which might be somewhat odd. "I wouldn't change a thing," Dragon continues, looking at the sketches while Colin gives Tomoyo another nod. He seems to be content to let his other half do much of the talking - which is probably a good thing, knowing his level of tact.

He offers, "It's good. I like the jacket. Two-in-one. Efficient design. I tend to forge my clothing, generally speaking."

"He thinks it's perfect," Dragon translates, and then asks: "How much do we owe you?"

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
Tomoyo's grin gets even wider when the two even start speaking at the same time. But, she must be professional, and contains her delight. "Okay then~ You don't owe me a thing just yet! You pay when you receive them and are satisfied with them."

"Ah, but excuse me a moment~" She heads up the stairs that are behind the counter, and soon returns with a young man with short-cut black hair. "Yamazaki here will measure you Colin, while I measure Tess~" The two begin to lead the superheroes to the dressing rooms!
