A Totally Not-Date
Date of Scene: 12 March 2015
Location: The Citadel - Pleasure Palace
Synopsis: Yari takes Sanary out on a not-Date in the Pleasure Palace.
Cast of Characters: 691, Sanary Rondel

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari Takane has taken the opportunity to book a private section of the Pleasure Palace today. Normally she's all about being around people despite her generally quiet demeanor, but this night? She wants some time alone with a certain someone. Thus she's currently all dolled up in her fancy red dress and sipping slowly on a mojito in the dark restaurant. There's candles on the table, roses, and two fancy italian menues on the table.

The invitation to the dinner was, even for her, horribly formal. A written card, with a little text-to-speech device attached to read it out loud.

Yari's tail tap-tap-taps on the floor as she awaits Sanary's arrival. The soldier looks nervous, and is full-on blushing while nursing her drink. It's telling to just /how/ worked up she is that she's only had one. For once, she wants to be sober.

After all...this totally isn't a date. Nope.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary seems to have had the same idea at least in regards to clothing, wearing a significantly more flattering and not-awful outfit for once. She's wearing a low cut black dress that somehow manages to appear modest and showy at the same time, her chest bindings visible between the straps both on the front and the back.

Then again, it could have just been a response to the overly formal card. Either way, she was hoping to not embarrass with her usual obliviousness when it came to clothing.

Finding Yari's table took little effort between actually using the eye to get to the private section and knowing the layout of the Pleasure Palace fairly well even without sight. "Heeey, Yari. Didn't keep you waiting too long, did I?" Even with the dress, she still speaks in her usual casual manner and raises a hand in a lazy wave.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
The vision that greets Sanary is Yari blushing. Full-on, schoolgirl blushing and fidgeting in an entirely-too-cute way that her subordinates would laugh in disbelief at. Indeed, Sanary is one of the few to see this side of her, all of that formality shoved aside.

A blushing schoolgirl whose jaw drops at seeing Sanary in that dress. It seems, to her, that the warrior-slash-healer cleans up very well. It's a long minute before she can even speak.

"N..no! Not at all Sanary! Sit." She's then bustling out to get the chair for Sanary before returning to her own.

"I would suggest the alfredo, it's excellent! And the white wi..." Pause.

"And a pink lemonade." She quickly suggests.

From seemingly out of nowhere, a ghost-butler appears floating before the two. The spirit is silent, awaiting their orders. Yari is polite enough to wait for Sanary first.

Cue a moment of awkward silence. "Sanary, thank you for coming. You look..." Pause. The ninja gulps as she gathers her courage for the hardest words she's ever said.

"Beautiful."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
The healer simply stares at Yari for a few moments as she takes in the actual sight of Yari in her dress for the first time rather than just being around her. The blush is duplicated on Sanary's face as well, although her reaction is less flustered-fidgeting and more of an impressed attempt-at-whistling-blowing noise.

"Ah... Th-thanks. Haven't had anything from Italy...-a before." Taking a seat at the other side of the table, she tenses up for a moment at the sudden appearance of the ghost-butler. Yari's lack of a violent reaction to it is enough to keep her from going into full fight or flight mode, at least. "Yeah, I'll take the alfredo and the white pink lemonade."

Turning back to the Au Ra, Sanary doesn't react immediately to the compliment, instead just staring at Yari for a short while before chuckling nervously. "R-really? well, you know, it's... Well, I mean... Th-thanks. You..."

There's the blow-slash-failed-whistling noise again. "You look amazing, too. Can't believe you fight in that, too..."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
The ghost-butler poofs as their orders are taken, a tail reaching under the table to grip Sanary's ankle at her tensing. Yari actually perks up a bit, and /smiles/ as the compliment is returned.

"I'm nothing special, really..." Then her brain kicks in again. Mentally, she replays the past few minutes.

"Wait...'look'? Sanary, are you not blind?" There's deep confusion in Yari's features as she looks at the woman. This is one confused Au Ra!

But she giggles as their food arrives. Today, it seems she's drunk alone on the atmosphere.

Mention of fighting in dresses has her sitting up, and exposing the slit at her thigh. Plenty of leg too. Not bashful, good Yari.

"This dress was picked tactically for maximum movement range and distraction in those who appreciate my legs." States the woman bluntly, military demeanor cropping back up. For all of five seconds.

Then she's sitting down, and gazing over Sanary once more with awe and what might be a little hope.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary relaxes visibly once the ghost-butler disappears, glancing downwards at the touch to her leg. A slight grin crosses her face as she struggles for a moment to pry one of her boots off, then pokes at the Au Ra's tail playfully from under the table.

"Eh? I am." She looks as confused as Yari does for a few moments, then gets her AHA moment before leaning forward slightly and tapping near the exposed eye. On closer inspection, there is a faint sheen to it that wouldn't normally be there.

"I... Might have made a risky purchase when I was drunk. Worked out well, though, since it just takes some power to keep this thing running. Cool, eh?"

The arrival of the food is greeted with an amused laugh as Sanary leans in to smell it first, although she does stop to stare at the welcome display of thigh.

"Mm... That is a good look on you. I can definitely see how it could be distracting..." She pauses for a moment before breaking into a noather grin. "... Huh. I don't have to feel bad about making that joke anymore!" Laughing again, she leans back in her seat before looking Yari over again from across the table.

"Definitley not regretting taking that risk now, that's for sure."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari lets out a cute little 'eeee!' as her tail is poked by a foot! That appendage of hers playfully tickles at Sanary's toes in response! Yari is grinning, already enjoying herself.

Leaning in to inspect, a tear falls from Yari's eyes. She's silent for a long moment. Concern, then familiarity, then joy crosses her features. It's with ninja-speed that Yari more or less tackles Sanary into a tight hug against her right over the table.

"You can make that joke any time you like! You can /see/! Do you know what that means? We can truly fight together Sanary! Like true friends, warriors, and..." She pauses, not quite sure where she was going with it. It's about then that she actually lets Sanary /up/ after the flying tackle!

"Just be careful." She cautions, but isn't about to spoil the mood with a lecture. Food time!

For some reason, she's blushing just a little more now.

"So, um...do you like the food?" When she's not on a mission, Yari is bad at smalltalk it seems. But she quickly picks up the pace.

"We need to really test out that eye of yours soon. I want to know about you, Sanary. Everything that you can do. I..." She seems on the verge of saying something, then stops.

And sighs. Slowly, she gathers her words, quiet and a little bashful.

"You are the first person I have ever felt close to, aside from my Mother." Starts Yari.

Her words are slow, a little hesitant. It's clear she's not used to being so open, and it stings a little to do so.

GAthering her resolve, she speaks honestly.

"I...the real reason I wanted to take you to dinner is because I need to say something. Sanary, I want to be close to you. As a warrior, as a friend, and maybe as a lo..." She can't quite bring herself to say it, but she nods as she looks Sanary in the newfound eye.

"I don't know what I am feeling. I can't really express it all that well. I am a spy, a killer, and a soldier. Things like this...until recently I thought I had killed off my heart for the sake of my country. But around you? I feel like something more than a weapon. I cannot tell if that's good or bad, but, I do not think I can close up my heart again Sanary. So..." Her hand is offered over to Sanary imploringly.

"Can I stay with you, Sanary, down this new path? I don't know where I am headed, or where I will end up. What will happen between us. But no matter what, I care about you, and I want you to be there if...if you want." Yari visibly shudders with the effort of letting down her guarded barriers of spy and soldier.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"Uh... You okay, Yari?" The tear confuses Sanary more than anything else, a look of concern lingering on her face even as Yari's own expression changes. That makes the sudden hug even more surprising, a uncharacteristically high yelp escaping from the girl as she falls back from Yari's momentum.

"H-huh? Oh, yeah!" The confusion gives way to laughter, a broad grin forming on her face as she returns the hug tightly. "Right! I mean, the thing's not perfect, but it sure as hell makes doing... /Everything/ a lot easier."

Picking herself and her seat back up, the healer's still looking quite amused at the Au Ra's reaction to the news. It's at this moment that she actually tries the food after being asked about it, letting the pasta linger in her mouth for a moment before raising a thumb in approval.

"Googh shtuff!" After remembering to chew and swallow it, she lets out a satisfied noise before going quiet again at Yari's revelation. She looks rather surprised at first as the Au Ra pours her heart out to her, then confused, then thoughtful as she closes her eye once Yari's finished. She hums softly while several thoughts race through her mind at once, barely managing to sort them out for her own understanding.

It takes her a minute before reopening that eye, then Sanary reaches over the table to grasp Yari's offered hand firmly while a confident grin crosses her face.

"Y-you know. I... Had words in my head for this, but now I can't remember them."

So much for the confident grin. It's quickly replaced by a flustered laugh and a sudden inability to make eye contact as Sanary seems to become the blushing schoolgirl from earlier. "W-well, you know I never had this kind of... Thing back home. Just here, but not like before here, but." She takes a moment to clear her throat and her thoughts. "I don't know if I can get you to what you're looking for, but I'll sure as hell try if you're willing to let me." The confidence returns for a moment as she cups her other hand over Yari's hand, giving her a light pat before speaking up again.

"Still, though... Are you sure? I-I mean. I thought you and Gaius were a thing. Not that I mind or anything! I mean, I've been on a couple of dates with Lute and one with two other guys... Don't think one of them counted since it was a group, thing, but still."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
The feel of Sanary's hand in her own, and that grin on the other woman's face lifts all of the fear of rejection off of her shoulders. Yari's heart swells as she blinks away barely-held-back tears as emotion threatens to overwhelm her. It takes every ounce of discipline she has to not bawl her heart out.

"So...you'll..." Tries Yari, her throat drying up. She downs her drink, and finally manages to speak again. Her hand squeezes, pressing her lips tightly to Sanary's hand in a kiss of the back of her palm. She holds her lips there for a moment.

"Alright. Yes! Let's travel this road together Sanary. To doom or victory. As long as I have my country and you, I...I think I can make it. Not just as a weapon. But as a person." They're simple words, but the look on Yari's face is a woman renewed. She lets go, tears streaming down her face before she finally looks away.

She laughs nervously. "...I'm sorry to spring all of this on you. I just had to say it. If my soldiers saw me right now I would look a disgrace! Morale would plummet." Laments Yari for her emotional weakness. But she doesn't sound /too/ put off by it.

Then, she goes tense, and quite literally falls out of her chair.

"M...wha!?" She squeaks out.

"The Lord Legatus and I...romantically involved?"

Her jaw drops at the pure audacity. She almost looks offended, then softens as her brain catches back up. Sanary isn't a Garlean.

Very slowly, half in shock, she tries to pull herself back into her seat.

"Sanary. You are my best friend. But /please/ do not say something like that. You are not a Garlean, so you could not have known, but...our culture can be very rigid in some ways." She says seriously, then pauses.

How /does/ she feel about Gaius?

"Lord van Baelsar is an amazing commander. He has experience and talent I couldn't hope to reach. He understands every kind of unit we have. And..."

There's respect, and a little almost daughterly adoration in Yari's voice.

"I guess you could say that he feels like a Father to me. Or what I imagine having one is like. I, erm...prefer..." She trails off.

"Anyway, romance like that would be a gross violation of the chain of command. We wouldn't think of it even /if/ we were attracted to one another. I...don't think the Lord Legatus likes non-humans." She'll not spread any rumors she might have heard. Then, she's burying her face in wine and food, face still tear-streaked.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"That's right." Smiling softly as she watches Yari being so free with her emotions, Sanary waits until after the kiss to her hand before reaching over to brush her eyes lightly. Not in the gentle back-of-the-hand-brush, but more like a mother-thumbing-away-eye-gunk manner.

The thought's there, at least, even if her technique needs work.

"Doom or victory... I like the sound of that. Between the two of us? I think our odds a pretty good." There's a light chuckle as she shakes her head, putting her hand back down to pat the back of Yari's hand reassuringly. "And if any of your troops give you shit over this, remember. You're the one that can make 'em do laps up a river."

Sanary lets out a concerned 'uhh' as Yari drops out of her chair, peering over the chair for a moment as the woman rights herself. She listens intently as the Centurion explains her relationship with the Legatus, lowering her head occasionally to eat more of the alfredo. Just because they're talking doesn't mean she has to stop eating, after all!

"So that's how.... Huh. Sorry about the mix up, then." She chuckles nervously at her own mistake and watches Yari eat for a short while, eventually getting back to her own food in random bursts.

"I guess that does make things... Less complicated, then. I could introduce you to... Ah, that can wait." Regaining some of her earlier bravado, the healer claps her hands together>

"For now, let's just relax, eat some good food, get blasted, aaand... Ice cream!"
