Tinyplot: A wish for the future

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
The Tyranno Citadel is a massive fortress carved in the side of a mountain. It has served as the Tyranno capital for as long as anyone can remember, progressing through the years as a simple system of caves, to a more modern blend of stone and metal.

As Allo walks along the metal plated floor, a trail of lights point him in the direction he must go. Tyranno soldiers glare at him as he walks by, fingering their weapons and sneering, daring him to step off his path.

Allo does not realize that Rex has made very specific orders those still loyal to him. Allo is not to be accosted under any circumstances. Unfortunately, at this time, it's not entirely clear to anyone, who is and is not loyal to the Tyranno Commander.

Allo will eventually find himself outside Rex's personal quarters. Upon entering he will see Rex, sitting at a desk, reviewing some sort of form, his claws up to his temples and looking a bit exasperated as he reads it over. His desk is buried under stacks upon stacks of paperwork and Rex's eyes are bulging.

Ankylo hovers nearby balancing a stack of folders, full of papers in his arms, "I have another stack of papers for you to review, Bossasaur."

Rex doesn't notice Allo at first, grabbing up the paper in front of him, "Ankylo, this is ANOTHER Requisition! Take it to your father! Have him deal with it! I have a war to plan!"

Ankylo shakes his head, "Dad said that if you want to be king, then you need to start acting like one. Dealing with paperwork is a big part of running a planet. SNORT SNORT!"

Rex crumbles up the piece of paper and stuffs it into one of Ankylo's huge nostrils, causing the rotund Dinosaur to fall over, sending papers in all directions, "TAKE ALL OF THIS TO YOU FATHER OR I'LL SHOVE THEM ONE BY ONE UP YOUR ...."

Rex Notices Allo and suddenly looks embarrassed, "err ... ummm ... Allo, umm, didn't expect you here ... so soon ..."

"ANKYLO! CLEAN UP THIS MESS! We have a ... guest!"

Allo (724) has posed:
If any Tyrannos are hoping for a chance to use their weapons, they're going to be very disappointed. As much as Allo doesn't like the idea of being here, invited or not, the Dinosaucer commander maintains his usual stoic composure while traversing the trail of lights.

He was going to be polite enough to knock, but the door flicks open just as he's reaching to it. So much for being polite. He at least doesn't interrupt, just crossing his arms while waiting for Rex and Ankylo to stop squabbling like an old married couple. With maybe a slight bit of amusement.

It would be more amusing if it wasn't a situation he was way too familiar with.

"The sooner I came, the sooner we can finish whatever it is you need me for." He at least steps around Ankylo scrabbling about of the floor to get the papers instead of on him like some of his comrades would, even if it is quite a step to get past the almost entirely round Tyranno. "If I had known you had this much paperwork Rex, we might of skipped the dimensional shifter. This is torture enough." Allo's typical neutral tone makes it difficult to tell if he's joking, or trying to be sympathetic, or maybe a bit of both columns.

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Rex smirks at Allo, "Stop, there for a moment ..." Rex presses a button under his desk and a trap door flips open, just in front of Allo's feet. Rex smirks and tilts his desk upwards and all of the stacks of paperwork slides forward and fall into the pit, which dutifully snaps shut.

"Beaurocrats and politicians presume to dictate what I do with my free time. Never a wise move. When this whole Saiyan issue is settled, they will be educated in a new way of doing things ..." Rex flops down in his chair and props his feet up on the desk.

"Ankylo! Get our guest a seat, and bring the good ale!!"

Ankylo rushes to a wheeled chair and pushes it in front of Rex's desk, the outline of the trap door clearly under the chair, then runs across the room and hurries back with an expensive looking tray of various wines, ales and wine glasses, setting them gingerly on Rex's desk.

"Anything else, your imperial scaliness?"

Rex shakes his head, "Nothing now. I'll call for you if I need you."

Ankylo nods and hurries out of the room, Rex gestures to the chair, "Please, make yourself comfortable."

Allo (724) has posed:
Allo glances down at the trap door just past his toes as the papers disappear into the depths. "I'd suggest getting a shredder. Harder to put tiny strips of paper back together and get the information off of them... Thank you, Ankylo." Though after taking the chair from him Allo does move it to the side a bit before sitting down.

Not going to sit directly over a trap, even if they are currently suppose to be at a truce for the greater good of their planet. He wouldn't put it past Rex to open the hatch just for 'old time's sake'.

A short, somewhat awkward silence follows. You can't really start idle conversation easily when you're sitting across from your polar opposite and in most cases advisory.

"You called for me, Rex. Only proper to let you start things off."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Rex's gaze softens a bit, "Don't be so cold Allo. You don't wear it well. I didn't invite you here to drop you down a hole."

He slides the tray of drinks a peruses the bottles a moment before pulling out a large fancy looking clear bottle filled with a caramel colored liquid. He wiped the bottle down with a towel, clearing off several years worth of dust. Allo recognizes the drink as a very potent Tyranno whiskey, but most specifically, he notices the date on it is the Reptilonian equivalent of November 1974 - famously Rex's hatch-date, which was turned into a national holiday by his parents.

Rex, plucks some ice from a bucket on the platter, drops into two glasses, then pours the whiskey into both, sliding one toward Allo, then holds his own glass up to his eye, examining it, "I hated you, Allo. Hated you for a very long time after I went away. Had I seen you in the months that followed, I might have struck you down where you stood, without a word or a chide for old times sake."

Rex sips from his glass, "But I was wrong. Wrong to hate you, wrong to do what I did. In truth, I missed you. I missed you as much as I missed this world."

Allo (724) has posed:
Allo glances back at the trapdoor for a moment as it's mentioned one more time. "Call it an old habit of being cautious."

Turning back to Rex, he learned forward to take the glass off the desk. Not really one to be indulgent, but it would be rude to refute the offer. Especially after seeing the label. It's not something Rex would just take out on a whim.

With glass in hand Allo sat back in the chair, letting out a soft sigh of sorts. "You want the honest truth, Rex? The plan with the dimensional shift was to some extent to -save- you."

Quickly he held up the free hand to keep down an outburst until he has a chance to explain. "When we came back to Reptilon after Earth you were gaining a considerable amount of force behind you in a very short time. There were goverment officials almost willing to go back to the old ways of war just to get a shot at cutting you down before the Tyranno Empire regained too much moment." Brief, somewhat stilted pause. "Especially after my aunt and uncle... were gone."

With that out of the way Allo does finally take a sip from the glass as he sits back in the chair again. "You've been a thorn in my side and a pain in my tail for a long time, Rex. But I've never particularly wanted you -dead-. Send you and your loyal cadre somewhere you'd be out of our scales for a while, sure. But at least you'd survive. As you did."

A shake of the head. "Of course, then I ended up having to deal with your sister instead..."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Rex places his drink on the desk an absently turns it as he speaks, "Not as pleasant as I am, is she? I heard how she held up my apparent death as a rallying cry. I suppose I was never much use to her in life, might as well be useful in death."

As he speaks, there is a sadness in Rex's voice that Allo's only heard once before, when he tried to convince Teryx to come back to him all those many years ago on earth.

The Tyranno shakes it off, "Ahh yes. Just like your aunt and uncle, always trying to teach lessons and save everyone from themselves ..."

Rex examines his own reflection in the glass, "Maybe you did save me. I'm certainly not the same saur I was when I left here." He tries to lighten the mood, "I mean look at all the silly mammals that I call allies now. Could you ever imagine that of the Genghis Rex you knew back in our youth?"

Allo (724) has posed:
"It's no secret the Tyranno Empire would prefer a male leader. No one expected her to be able to actually pull control under her, even if it was pretending to do so in your name."

Though after the brief saddened note in Rex's voice, Allo lets that part of the topic slide off the table so to speak. He can only imagine the family tensions going on there. At least Allo only has to sometimes deal with a nephew that has more intention to do good than he does common sense in his overly hard skull. Tyranno family relations are an entirely different matter.

"No, I can honestly say that isn't something I would of expected." Allo took another short sip from the glass. It really was good ale, if a little stronger than what he'd normally prefer. "But I'm glad you came back when you did, and that you brought them with you. Even if it wasn't for the best of situations."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
The Tyranno King runs a claw along the edge of his glass, seemingly searching it for the right wording, "That situation will be resolved one way or another."

Rex swallows hard, it's as if Allo can see the proud Tyranno choking down a large bite of his own ego, "I guess it's why I brought you here. Why you and your Dinosaucers will walk these halls, at least for now, as if they were loyal Tyrannos ..."

He doesn't make eye contact with Allo, instead staring intently at his own reflection in the glass, swirling the caramel colored liquid inside, "I want to assure you that I will see this through. I will see this world freed from these interlopers. They will go, or they will die. There is no other choice. Not for me. I'll die if it calls for it, and it very well may."

Rex turns his gaze to Allo, "Should I survive, I cannot promise what will follow. All I can do is tell you, right here, right now, what will happen with these invaders. You are my brother Allo. I will fight and die for you and I need you to ... believe in that. It's important to me, personally. There is a lot between us, there is much to get past and I hope, in time, we can work on that. I am hated and despised by many and I know there are some who will never forgive me ... but for now, I need YOU to not hate me. Save that for when this is over."

Allo (724) has posed:
At 'hate' there is but the faintest hint of an upward turn of the corners of Allo's mouth. "I would of said extremely intolerable at times, myself." Never let it be said that Allo doesn't have a sense of humor. He just doesn't let it show every often. But taking the occasional, somewhat playful jab at his counterpart was an oddly comfortable feeling.

The conversation, and his demeanor with it, quickly shift back to the serious tone though. "You are right, of course. There -is- a lot between you and me. Between certain members of our respective teams... but none of that matters more than Reptilon's safety. I'm probably the last dino you need to express that to, Rex. Though the effort to do so is appreciated. It shows you're sincere. And I mean that as a compliment. Reptilon comes first, then we can sort out whatever squabbles remain afterwards."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Rex smiles and downs the entirety of his glass, then stands offering his claw to Allo, "You honor me by saying that! We will face this threat not as Tyranno or Dinosaucer, but as Reptilonians! Together we will kick those spikey headed bastards back to the stars!"

Allo (724) has posed:
Now hopefully this won't come back to bite him in the tail later. But a unified front was the only real chance they had, even with the outside help Rex had drawn to Reptilon as well.

The glass of ale is finished off, then set on the desk as Allo gets up to take Rex's claws in his own. "If there is one thing I know I can trust you on Rex, it's this." At least he knows Rex wants a planet left afterwards to rule, rather than destroy simply for not agreeing with him.

Okay, with that out of the way, back to important matters at hand. "I've got clearance to take some of our allies to see Lavadome directly. I don't need to tell you how important the super-volcano and the energy it provides is. I think seeing it for themselves is the best way to show them just how crucial it is to Reptilon's survival though." Momentary pause to rub his lips with the back of a claw to make sure no ale was left smeared on them. "As long as they continue to behave and assist us as a whole your Confederate companions are welcome as well."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Rex nods, "Most of my allies have a certain level of 'maturity' that, at times, is somewhat lacking in the company I keep. They know the importance of Lavadome. My biggest concern is not allowing Confederate or Union representatives into Lavadome, it's the fact that it sticks out like an ingrown scale in the hide of our planet. The Saiyans will target it ... I just hope our fortifications will be able to withstand their assault."

"The attack will come. I have no doubt. Even those idiotic Sabreteeth targeted it the last time they soiled our planet with their presence."

Allo (724) has posed:
"Even I know this 'ceasefire' isn't going to last, as much as I had hoped otherwise." Allo shakes his head a little at that, but what's already come and gone can't have much done about it. "And yes, it's a big and extremely obvious target. Precisely why our allies need to know why it is so important, and personally seeing it will get that point across better than any amount of us explaining it. If we're lucky, they'll even have some insight for protecting it better against this threat our kind aren't as familiar with."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex says, "Sadly, I have no faith in the ceasefire. It is a stalling tactic. You already have a contingent of a dozen Gigas tanks allotted to the defense of Lavadome. I could spare another dozen or so to further fortify if you have the room. that leaves the Citadel vulnerable, ut if Lavadome falls, the Citadel will fall with it. The again, hoarding all of our most powerful weaponry around a single target only further draws our enemies interest in it."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex says, "Of course, It's your city, therefore, it's your call, Allo. I'll respect whatever decision you make."

Allo (724) has posed:
Allo shakes his head, but by that point Rex has already noticed the flaw in his first suggestion and is correcting himself. Impressive in its own right. It would of been like pulling fangs just to get the old Genghis Rex to even admit he had made a flawed proposal, if even that much. "Let's see what our allies have to offer for insight, before we make it an even bigger target via our own means. They may have better, less obvious ideas."

A faint snort is made at 'your city'. Never been comfortable with that notion, but Allo was never comfortable with his position in general. Yet life was again putting him in a spot where he has no choice but to fufill it, personal issues aside. "It's -Reptilon's- City. Regardless of which side is purportedly in control of it."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex nods in agreement with Allo, "As I'm sure you remember from the infuriating Mammals you used to call your friends, these offworlders will surprise you with their creativity."

"I should show you what we did just by collecting their discarded technological devices in the building of Tarpits III. It can do things I never thought possible. Wait until you see the Warp Gates and the Transformers and the Star Destroyers! They can't really destroy stars, but they are really incredible!"

"WOuld you believe *I* have a mammal friend now? An Armadillo scientist who built a fantastic machine she calls Shardcore! It's a ceratopsoid! She saved my life once after a ... ummm ... plan went a bit awry. Not because of ME mind you ... "

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex says, "I mean, my plans never fail beause of me, it's usually because someone else didn't follow instructions properly ..."

Allo (724) has posed:
Now that sounds like the Genghis Rex everyone knows. Some things just really don't change. Never his fault. Granted, sometimes it -is- more the fault of the company he keeps than Rex's own shortsighted ambitions.

"Great, another destructive ceratops. Tricero will be livid." Well, as much as the dour ex-cop ever shows. Maybe that was part of the joke.

Allo slides the chair back over to it's previous position just over the trap door. Partially to remind himself its there. Just because Rex is playing nice doesn't mean one of the other Tyrannos won't take advantage of the moment if they got it. It's not Rex he's doubting right now, it's the potential of his sister or someone wanting to try and prove themself to her instead.

"We can worry about better aquainting with this Multiverse afterwards." Though it was hard to miss the way Dimentro was eyeing Stark's robotic bodyguards. He'd probably have a field day if he got a chance to look at some of these things.

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex nods and says jokingly, "Yes, we'll do fields trips later. For now, is there anything you need from me specifically?"

He bends down and picks up a binder, several pages falling out of it before he can clasp it tight, "Before I return to my 'kingly duties'?"
He rolls his eyes.

Allo (724) has posed:
"Paperwork is going to be the death of us both long before this or the civil wars are," Allo replies a fair bit tongue in cheek.

"You have an empire to get back in order so I'll leave you to that. Just keep contact lines open so we can stay on the same page. We don't know how long it will last before the ceasefire breaks apart, so best we take advantage of the time we've got."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex smirks, "Ahh, hold on!"

He rifles through his desk and pulls out a familiar looking ring, and flicks it to Allo, "Another old trick I stole from you from the old days. If you need me, just give me a call."

"Be well, Allo. I hope to see you on the other side of all of this."

Allo (724) has posed:
Allo reflexively catchs the object tossed at him without stopping to look at it. Though once it's in his claws he doesn't need to look, he reconizes the size and shape of it despite how long its been.

"Somehow I am not surprised."

The ring is tucked away for safe keeping. "The same to you, Rex." Because gods know he's sick and tired of dealing with your questionably psychotic sister. "We'll get through this. If there's one thing both our sides do share, its that we're not giving up or going without a fight."

Genghis Rex (114) has posed:
Genghis Rex tosses Allo a nod and a wave, then sits down, slapping the binder down in front of him.

He taps a intercom switch, "Ankylo, please show our guest out."

A voice chimes back, "You got it, Bossasaur! SNORT SNORT"

The door opens and Ankylo waits dutifully to show Allo out of the Citadel.
