Joey Vs. Kaiba - It's Time to Duel!
Date of Scene: 27 March 2015
Location: Yu-Gi-Oh Earth
Synopsis: Kaiba calls Joey out for a duel, broadcast to many places in the Multiverse.
Cast of Characters: 623, 698

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
Kaiba Land has been open for a few months now. Located in the heart of Domino City, it is a massive tower. Kaiba Land is an amusement park, filled with games and rides. Nothing that most people would find ominous. Granted, the actually ominous parts are still being constructed and prepared. For now, Kaiba is simply biding his time until he makes his move against Yugi. But. He is impatient. Which is why he has called out Joey.

Though the tower is the main attraction, there is a wide area around the tower for gaming as well. Kaiba himself is standing on one of the various spots made for gaming. A wide round area of dark tiled stone. On each side of the arena, there is a raised pedestal. Kaiba stands upon his own, with Kaiba Corp at the back. He is wearing his blue school uniform at the moment, although his Duel Disk is on his left arm, at the ready. His face is emotionless as usual. He's always overly calm.

A bit of a crowd has gathered, standing around to watch. There is even a camera crew, to broadcast this fight to chunks of the Multiverse. This is, in fact, a publicity stunt, after all. But it is also a chance to completely embarrass a completely pathetic duelist. Hopefully this will help him draw Yugi's attention, at least a bit. As he understands it, Yugi cherishes his friends. So of course, he'll hold /nothing/ back. The safeties on his Duel Disk are off.

Also of note, Mokuba is wandering the edge of the arena, making sure that Kaiba's fans don't bug him too much. Yes, Kaiba has fans. He's a millionaire child prodigy gamer. Of course he has fans.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler arrives, he is so insigfigant that he has to actually push his way through Kaiba's many adoring fans to get to the actual dueling 'area' that's been cleared up, and no path is made for him. "Outta my way , come on! Expert Duelist, commin' through!" he says as he is pushed into the area. His arms flail as he catches himself and hrmphs. "I'm here Kaiba! Don't think I'd wuss out!" he says boldly. Famous last words, etc.

He's brought his deck. It looks a little fat for a professional's deck. Seriously, that's gotta be like sixty cards in there! This is amatuer hour.

He of course, has his own dueldisk. "SO if I win, I get a wheelbarrow of cash, and if I loose then nuthin. Right!?" he asks.

Joey has no fans, he might mistake that some of those people over there screaming Kaiba are screaming for him though, so he gives a goofy wave over there.

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
As Joey pushes his way through the crowd, a number of people are absolutely puzzled. A few even verbalize it a bit, asking aloud, "...Why does this guy think he's so special?", or variants of it. Yes, Joey is absolutely unknown as a duelist. And, Kaiba is aware of this. With the rise in popularity of the Duel Disk, Kaiba has been able to make a database of the various people who uses it. And, as far as he is aware, Joey owns absolutely no cards that can match his own.

Kaiba raises an eyebrow at the deck. As the top ranking duelist, he can tell just by the size of the deck how many cards are in there. Does he /really/ think he can when with a deck like that? Kaiba is trying not to laugh, and trying not to break his cool. He has to remain a strong and stoic figure for the public.

He smiles a little bit. With his right hand, he motions to one of his men. He's a bit of a giant of a man, wearing a black suit and sunglasses. Most notable, though, is that his hair is styled in the front, leading up to a sharp point above his head. This guy really has an unusual hairstyle, to say the least. But, with Kaiba's motion, this man walks forward, carrying two large, metal briefcases. He sets them down next to Kaiba.

And, Kaiba smiles, "This is, of course, a /small/ selection of cards in my collection. But, yes. If you win this, you can take home /all/ of these cards. And, a number of them are even quite powerful. I'm sure it'll do wonders for your deck. If you can manage to fit more cards into it, even." Sadly, he had to make a bit of a crack at the deck size. He just couldn't help it. He just has so /little/ respect for Joey, it's obvious. Even trying to keep his cool, Kaiba's distaste is obvious.

Kaiba reaches to a holster holding his deck. He takes it out, and slots it in. He smiles quite casually at Joey, "Go ahead and make the first move. You are, after all, my /guest/. We'll play by the Traditional Rules." And with that, Kaiba draws his starting hand of five cards. His poker face betrays nothing about what cards he holds in his hand. He only takes a glance at them, before locking his eyes onto Joey's eyes.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler shoves his deck into the duel disk and grumbles at Seto, with what /might/ be some sort of frustration. "Yeah, well! Let's just see about that..." his eyes does go to two of Kaiba's suitcases. He has a collection that big!? Joey has. uh. His fat deck. That he has to literarly force into the duel disk--but it fits.

He brings his arm up and draws his inital hand--- and then he looses his poker face. It's like Kaiba can see the crummy hand in his eyes.

"Yeah well, for my first move! I'm playing this card face down! In defense mode!" he calls out as he does just that, a card appearing on the play field, face down on his side of the field.

He then narrows his eyes at his cards and mumbles to himself. "Yeah okay, I end my turn!" he says.

He regains just a smidge of his demeanor. There's always the next draw! It's not like Kaiba is going to summon something horrible on HIS first turn, right?

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
Kaiba's poker face remains solid, even as he draws his next card. He sems unphased by the fact that Joey began by placing a card face down. But, inside, he's thinking. Is Joey simply on the defensive, or is there a trap involved? But, no. Looking at Joey's face, he has a set of terrible cards. Kaiba is incredibly skilled at reading people. And, he knows from school as well. Joey is an incredibly straight-forward person. He's not the kind who can bluff easily.

Kaiba speaks. His voice calm, yet determined. Even though this is a complete joke of a battle, he's still going to go forward with all he has. He places a card down.

"I play the Maiden with Eyes of Blue, in Attack Mode."

He is banking on Joey being unfamiliar with this card. It's a junk common, but one with a power that almost no one knows of. There might be /some /hint that Kaiba is up to something, though. Because, as the beautiful maiden with blue eyes and white hair appears, numbers form in midair as well. It's Attack and its Defense.

     0/0

"...But," Kaiba continues, "I'm not finished. I set two cards. Face down." And, he places the two cards in his Spell/Trap zone.

     "And. I end my turn."

This battle is off to a slow spot. But. Kaiba fully expects Joey to walk /right/ into his hands.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler blinks. A Zero/Zero monster!? What is Kaiba thinking!? Is he trying to make this easy on him!? He eyes those two face down cards. Certainly there's nothing too difficult under there... this'll be a piece of cake! He can take out that Maiden with the Blue Eyes- plow through that. and then go directly for his life points! Yeah. Joey gets a sneaky laugh going on.

"You're making this too easy Kaiba! That's like! No defense!" he insists.

Joey draws another card, looking at it for a moment, before playing it face forward, In attack postion! "I play Axe Raider in attack position! And then I summon... Swordsman of Landstar!" he says, flipping the card from earlier he put down. Two completely effectless monsters, but he thinks, enough to take on that weak monster Kaiba has off. "My Axe Raider is going to attack your Maiden! Then I'm going to have Swordsman of Landstar attack your smug face, Kaiba!" he calls out, as indeed, his two monsters move to attack, first for the maiden, and the Swordsman of Landstar just a few moments behind.

Joey is pretty sure he has this move in the bag. Nothing can mess this up! Nothing.

"Yeah! Come on!" he calls out, in confidence!

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
Kaiba holds out his hand, and shouts dramatically. He has a surprising amount of enthusiasm when he duels. And, some level of cruelty as well. There is nothing /quite/ like luring an opponent into a trap.

"NOT SO FAST, Wheeler! You've activated my trap, /and/ the ability of my Maiden with Eyes of Blue! Reveal face down card, MIRROR FORCE!"

Kaiba flips the card over. And, as the Axe Raider rushes in on the innocent looking maiden, there is a burst of energy. The power of the Mirror Force sends the Axe Raider's attack right back at it. Destroying it, /and/ the Swordsman of Landstar.

And then the Maiden with Eyes of Blue starts kneeling, as it goes into defense mode. And, Kaiba continues to monologue. "And, when you declare an attack on my Maiden with Eyes of Blue, it switches modes, while also allowing me to summon a monster /directly/ from my deck!"

Kaiba reaches for his deck. The Duel Disk pushes a card out of it, and he holds it up. Joey will definitely recognize this card, even at a distance. Kaiba /knows/ Joey has seen one of these before. The only other one in existence that is not within Kaiba's deck.

"I SUMMON FORTH THE BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON!"

He places the card down, and the giant pure white dragon appears. It lets out a roar, landing right next to the Maiden with Eyes of Blue. A box appears, once again listing this monster's Attack and Defense.

     3000/2500

"But. Since you can't do /anything/ else, it's /my/ turn. And so, I draw my card, and then activate Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw a second card!" For a moment, a giant green pot appears. It has an overly wide smile on its face. A hologram of a card comes out from the top of it, and Kaiba in turn draws his card.

"And... I set one monster face down. And now, Wheeler? You're wide open. BURST STREAM OF DESTRUCTION!"

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon opens its mouth. The gigantic burst of plasma energy flies from it, aiming to engulf Joey. Making matters worse, Kaiba's safeties are off. The crowd will simply think its part of the show. But, Joey will know /much/ better.

And, Kaiba smiles, calming a bit. "Your turn, Wheeler."

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler is insanely sure he has this in the bag. And then. Mi-Mirror Force!? What that's no fair! He can't play that card! That card destroys all monsters on his side of the field! --and the Maiden.. HAS AN EFFECT!? B-Blue Eyes White Dragon!? No Way!

"NO WAY! THAT CAN'T HAPPEN!" he insists. But alas. It is! And the BURST STREAM OF DESTRUCTION encompasses Wheeler causing him to holler out in some degree of pain. These things are serious. But he's still standing. With 1000 Life Points. That are now threatend because if he doesn't make one good move......

"Nrg...." he draws out a card and looks at it, his eyes light up a little. "If you think Joey Wheeler is going down without a fight you're wrong!" he says.

"I play the spell card, Scapegoat!".

Upon the card activating, four, cuddly looking, harmless looking, multi-colored small goats appear in four of his monster zones, in defense postion.

Joey has made himself a shield. That gives him at least another turn... unless Kaiba has another trick up his sleeve.

"I end my turn." he says in frustration.

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
As the four scapegoats appear, Kaiba actually raises an eyebrow. He almost would have guessed that Joey was the type who didn't even think to put spells or traps in his deck, and would load it only with monsters. At the least, Kaiba recognizes these scapegoats. He knows almost every single card in existence.

"A stalling tactic? Really, pathetic. You're only delaying the inevitable. Have you heard? I've been making a bit of a name for myself in the Multiverse. So, this news might of leaked to you already. But."

Kaiba stretches his right arm forward in a dramatic pose. He holds up two fingers as he speaks, "I have two more Blue-Eyes White Dragons in this deck. It is only a matter of time before I draw them. And even then, I still have /three/ monsters on the field."

The hologram of the face down monster card remains floating in the air, along with the Blue-Eyes and the Maiden with Eyes of Blue. Kaiba knows there is /one/ disadvantage here: He has two monsters in defense mode. He only has two more slots for monsters. There are four monsters, and he only has one that can really be used for an attack at the moment. The Blue-Eyes.

But, he draws his card, and forms a strategy. It'll take up a slot he could place a Blue-Eyes in later. But, he does have ways he could clear his own side of the field to make room for the other two.

"I play Judgeman in Attack Mode! And then... Blue-Eyes! Judgeman! Destroy two of the scapegoats!"

He places the card, and the giant judge appears on the battlefield. He holds an axe in each hand, and has a solemn look on his face. He moves in to try and slice both of his axes at one of the Scapegoats at once, while the Blue-Eyes fires a stream of destruction at another.

And, Kaiba smiles. "Your scapegoats will only be around for /one more turn/. You better make the best of the short time you have available."

The audience, of course, is absolutely going wild for this. And every single member of the audience is cheering for Kaiba.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler grrrrs, Kaiba has a lot of fans... but he knows if his friends where here why--why!...

They'd chew him out for agreeing to this stupid battle! BUT STILL! THEY'D BE HERE!

Two of his Scapegoats pop out of existence- far more 'cutely' than implied by the strike- in a multicolored burst, leaving him two. This looks awfully grim... even if he plays another defense down card... Kaiba can play another one, and he'd just be delaying one more turn! Nrrrggg. there has to be SOMETHING he can do. He draws his next card slowllllllly and with eyes closed--draws the next card... his eyes light up! "Aha!" he says. "I might not have the most powerful cards! and I might not be very skilled! BUT I WILL TELL YOU WHAT I HAVE KAIBA! AND THAT IS!..."

Joey plays down Roulette Spider. It immediatly attaches to the Blue Eyes White Dragon's head.

"DUMB LUCK! NOW ROULETTE SPIDER!...... ROULETTE SPIN AND GIVE KAIBA WHAT FOR!"

and indeed, the spider spins!....

....and spins.... and spins!......

One of Joey's Scapegoats explode in a burst of of violent blue light from the Blue Eyes as he acks.

"What, no, that wasn't supposed to happen!" he insists loudly.

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
As the Roulette Spider appears, Kaiba is actually caught off guard. He recognizes it as a gamble immediately. But, he also recognizes that it is a way he could, in fact, destroy the Blue-Eyes. And so, Kaiba's look goes colder for a second, as he glares at Joey. Will the dumb luck pay off?

...And, apparently, it /won't/. As the third scape goat explodes, Kaiba smirks. It's not a huge smirk, but its still enough to show his satisfaction.

"...Looks like your luck has ran out, Wheeler. Once I destroy that last Scapegoat, your time is up." And, dramatically, Kaiba points forward towards Joey. "But. Did you really think I'd gamble that many cards on nothing? If you lose... You're going to have to play a 'Penalty Game.'"

Kaiba expects this to be a complete surprise to Joey. Yeaaah, he never said what would happen if Wheeler lost. But, Kaiba continues on, drawing a card. And, Kaiba's smile only grows.

"...It's over, Wheeler. I play my BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON! Judgeman, destroy the last Scapegoat. Blue-Eyes... ATTACK DIRECTLY!"

And, the second dragon is placed down, appearing with yet another roar. The Judgeman moves in to cut at the last Scapegoat. And, the two Blue-Eyes White Dragons open their mouths. Large amounts of energy form, and two gigantic beams are launched /directly/ at Wheeler. And Kaiba just continues to stand their, smugly.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler can't really do anything about this. His gamble failed miserably. He has one monster on the field, and it isn't even a REAL Monster, it's some scapegoat token! He looks in his hand, what!? Is that Graverobber!? WHY DIDN'T HE SET THAT! HE COULD HAD COPIED MIRROR FORCE RIGHT NOW!...

Joey is realizing a mistake right now, but sadly, it's a little too late for that. Because he's encompassed by the violent stream of blue, crackingly electricty, and indeed, with that hit, he's down to well--- nothing, he's gone. This match is over. Kaiba is some stupid creep. Some stupid, Creep that also happens to be the winner of this match as Joey drops his hand onto the ground, "Nrg... damn, you creep!" he insists. "What's your stupid penalty game! I can take it!" he insists in his rough accent. He's taken his share of hits being part of a gang and all afterall.

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
Kaiba stands there, smiling. This was, in fact, a total one sided victory. He doesn't even feel guilty about this, at all. If this will get to Yugi? That's all he cares about. He ponders, a bit. How much of a penalty game to force upon Wheeler? If he goes too extreme, Wheeler will tell more of the Multiverse. Not extreme enough, and Kaiba won't feel satisfied. But, after some minor thought, he comes to a decision.

"You lost, Wheeler. And so. Your Penalty Game."

The audience's reaction to this? It's to /cheer/. They think this is, more or less, just an act. Also, Kaiba has /great/ PR on this world. Anyone who even /thinks/ they have a chance of beating him are basically 'heels', to use a wreslting term. But, the audience doesn't even get what 'Penalty Game' means.

Joey will know what a Penalty Game is now, though. Because, as Kaiba gives the order? A holographic wall appears around the arena. This is to keep the audience from seeing what happens. Joey will suddenly be surrounded by various nightmarish figures. Monsters, dead bodies, nonecludian geometry. Every single bit created to try and drive a person mad. In simulations, the average person can only survive a few minutes before going mad to the intense level of imagery, and the fact that these are /solid/ holograms.

Joey's chance to 'Experience Death' will only last for thirty seconds, though. At which point, the holograms dissipate, allowing both Duelists to be seen.

And Kaiba just continues to stand there smugly.

Joey Wheeler (698) has posed:
Joey Wheeler looks confused as walls rise up , as he wonders what's coming up.. OH GOD!

This is horrible, "AH! GET AWAY FROM ME!" he insists as he pushes a grislied hand horror away, and they're swarming, and he's yelling and screaming the whole time--- in fact, this is abousltely dreadful! Why the hell would Kaiba do this! HOW IS HE DOING IT!? Are these even holograms!? Or that magic stuff he's heard something about!?

Regardless, soon it's all over and he's left hunched over, hands over his heads for a bit over his cards scattered on the ground as Kaiba just smugly smirks over there.

Seto Kaiba (623) has posed:
With Wheeler left crouched over? Kaiba just turns around, smiling. The audience cheers, glad to see such a jerk like Joey get his comeuppance. The crowd parts a little, so Kaiba can leave the arena.

But, Kaiba can't help gloating a bit. Not that he hasn't been already. He just turns his head back to Wheeler, wiht a smug look on his face.

"This was barely even worth my time. I'm remembering why I don't duel casual players."

And, then Kaiba continues to walk away.
