Cast of Characters: 20, 663

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
After a day of resting up the earthbender is feeling a bit more like herself. And since they are closer to getting all the Dragon Balls, her mood is slightly better too. Not that she is back to her usual cheery self, not completely. What matters is that they get her supervising officer and adoptive father back to life. What else is there that matters?

There are some other minor things that need clearing up however...

At the moment the blind earthbender is seated in a booth at the Bar and Grill. It's a handy place to grab some food, and a handy place to have a neutral talk with people outside of the Union. And well, she is a bit curious about things that were said the other day. What the crud did he mean, anyway?

In general it looks like Toph is pretty deep in thought as she waits for her lunch companion, carefully eating some of her fries while her burger rests on the plate. Next to her rests her bag, and she seems to making herself at home as she's even flung her feet up on the table.

Vegeta (663) has posed:
Vegeta enters the Bar and Grill wearing his armor, vest and all. He doesn't seem to know how to do casual like Serori does. So he takes a seat across from her at the table, crossing his arms and sitting back. "What do you want, child?" he asks, though he might not actually be grumpy. He has a tendency to always sound that way.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Oh right, there he is. The footsteps aren't too familiar, but who else would come here and sit down at her table? His voice is recognizable too.

Her mouth isn't completely full when she responds, though it's not quite empty either.

"First of all, I might be a child but I do have a name," she points out, waving a half eaten fry at the Saiyan. "Secondly, you were the one who said we would discuss your silly comment later. It's now later, and I've rested up after the mission. So... explain it. I have all day if you're going to babble like you always do." With that Toph stuffs her mouth with a handful of fries.

Whether he recalls what he said at the time isn't something Toph has considered right now.

Vegeta (663) has posed:
"You embody the spirit of a Saiyan child. I believe you'll be valuable when we establish the Saiyan Empire and build our civilization. Both in training, but also..." Vegeta lightly slams his fist against the table, as glaring over at the waitress. "Food!" he shouts his vague order, then continues. "I want you to help influence our teenagers. With your presence, they're sure to grow into defiant and powerful warriors."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The waitress jumps when Vegeta barks out his order, looking like a deer caught in headlights, all before she lets out an 'eep' and rushes off to the kitchen!

Meanwhile Toph appears far more calm, though she does frown when he slams his fist on the table, and she quickly reaches out with her free hand, bending her soda can to stay in place and undisturbed. To her credit she does let Vegeta finish his explanation. But when he does finish?

Toph snorts. "And what makes you think I want anything to do with your Saiyan empire? I dunno what a Saiyan child is like or supposed to be like. I'm me, and I'm what an earthbender should be like." She picks up her soda can and takes a sip from it, then lets out a slight burp. "And it sounds like you could do that yourself since you seem to know so much about it."

    Just what was he thinking?

Vegeta (663) has posed:
"You don't seem to understand. It's not a matter of teaching them, it's a matter of -trends-. I've seen human society. Saiyan society lacked a real culture beyond our fighting and being warriors. Of course, our culture will -always- involve fighting and being warriors, but I want to -expand- on it." Vegeta peers at her, though there is a grin on his face now. "I want you to come to my empire and be -cool-. Enter local tournaments, perhaps even bring other Earthbenders and have your bender games. We'll put it on television, you'll be able to hang out with other warriors. They'll see you and think 'I want to be like her'. And all you have to do is be yourself."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
    What the...?

Toph blinks at that comment and halts chewing, arching an eyebrow where she sits. "You... want me to be /cool/," she repeats. Then she lets out an amused snort. "Can't you just show them my WMAT fights or something if you want them to have a role model?" Hey, it's a valid question.

"Your... 'empire', as you call it, is it part of the Confederacy?" She looks a bit suspicious at that thought. "Besides, all I hear here is what you and your underlings would get, not what's in it for /me/. It's not like I don't have other stuff to do!"

Bender games... what is he thinking, calling them that?

Vegeta (663) has posed:
"I recently demoted myself to Confederate ally, I no longer wish to be -entirely- under their thumb, though I do obviously require their support. My vision for the Saiyan Empire is that it will be a neutral empire, at least as far as the Confederacy and Union are concerned. I'll have people running it from both factions. I'm still working things out, but trust me when I say that the Saiyan Empir will hardly be what I'd consider a tool of the Confederacy." Vegeta explains all of this quite sincerely and confidently, as if he's -proud- of this fact. "You'll have -fame-, money, the ability to fight strong opponents. And you will help shape the culture of an entire empire."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Okay, good for you then," Toph snorts and leans back in her seat even as she works on finishing up her fries. At this very moment the waitress and a few of her coworkers arrive, all carrying trays with various food for Vegeta. It's only reasonable that they know what a huge appetite Saiyans have by now. Quickly they set it all out for him so he can eat. Food of all types, with a majority of them being meat. "A-ah, did you want anything else, Sir...?" the waitress asks a bit timidly.

"You forget one thing though," Toph states, not looking too impressed. "One, I am famous. I am the inventor of metalbending and the greatest earthbender of all time, and I also had the Avatar /beg/ me to teach him. Multiversally, I'm also famous. Secondly, I have more money than I need..." Somehow the girl seems a bit quieter for a moment as she considers this, her eyes half closing for a moment before she turns her attention back to Vegeta. "Third, I fight for the Union, and I fight in the toughest bracket of the WMAT. I'm no longer stuck fighting chumps. Fourth, why should I care about shaping the culture of your empire? I mean, you want them to wear shoes, don't you?"

Yeah, she won't ever let him forget that comment during Christmas, will she?

Vegeta (663) has posed:
"No, take it out of my Confederacy account." Vegeta says before he grabs a hand full of fries and stuffs them into his mouth. In the time it takes him to chomp them all down his throat, he considers her question. "If not wearing shoes makes them more powerful because they want to be more like you, then so be it. You will not be the only one who helps shape our culture, obviously. But I believe you will be very valuable to the youth. A strong female role model who can show little girls what they could be. I already have Taylita and Serori, but someone younger is also very valuable."

He considers this for a moment, rubbing his chin. "I have no intention of asking you to be involved in any military conflicts, or politics. You may come and go as you please. But I will occasionally send you an invitation, and it will be up to you if you'd like to accept. How does that sound?"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
By now Toph has picked up her burger and begun eating it with a mostly disinterested look on her face. She seems to focus on him though, listening intently even as she finishes up most of her burger rather quickly. "You know some people would say I have a serious problem with authority, right...?" she points out, figuring she should at least give him a chance. "Who knows, I might teach the little girls to rebel and do their own thing."

Taylita... maybe she should discuss it with her later and hear what she thinks.

"At least you know better than most people..." Toph sighs, closing her eyes. "I will consider it, but I make no promises." With that she stuffs the last of her burger into her mouth, then she picks up her bag. "For now you can tell them to come and watch me in the WMAT this year. That ought to give them a taste at least."

Vegeta (663) has posed:
"I'll look forward to watching that myself. But yes, a chance is all I ask." Vegeta continues devouring his food with both hands. Lifting dumplings, steak, burgers, whatever he can randomly grab. "Let me know if you require anything."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Of course you should look forward to it, it will be awesome. And I intend to win," Toph states firmly. Sure, she didn't do so well last year, but that was then. As for what she requires? "I... just want all the Dragon Balls found for now so Serori can make her wishes. Let us know and I will be there to help." It's as simple as that. Toph has never been a fan of making things overly complicated.

With that said the blind girl gets to her feet, offers a brief mock salute at Vegeta before she heads for the door.
