It's a trap
Date of Scene: 07 June 2015
Location: Crystal Valley
Synopsis: Confederacy members Vega and Project MORDRED try to capture Kyle Katarn. While they fail that, Vega manages to demolish a Rebel base despite the effort of Cirra Constantine and the Rogers Siblings (James and Sarah).
Cast of Characters: 626, 675, 749, 778, 796, 802, 804

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
"What do you /mean/ 'it's not working?' The beacon just went off with a priority alert a few hours ago at most." Kyle says over commlink, just as he hops off the speeder bike he used to get here. The rebel agent turned Jedi scratches his head in confusion, kicking at the alert beacon in the middle of nowhere. All he gets is 'the beacon wasn't even supposed to be here' from the voice on the other line, a rebel officer who'd notified him before of the distress beacon.

In the meantime, he sighs while things get straightened out, waiting and sitting around in the open.
Yeah, if this don't scream BOOBY TRAP nothing will.

Vega (749) has posed:
It is the nature of power, and of nature, to abhor a vacuum. Power fills gaps. Wherever more power can be found, no matter the form or the purpose, there are those with power who rush to claim that gap for themselves. Ever-expanding, ever-growing, power and its use often comes naturally to the powerful.

The hidden Rebel Base in Crystal Valley is not, one might imagine, an obvious vacuum. After all, like many secret military bases, it is well-defended, well-kept, and well-protected, not only by its secrecy but by its forces. Most people would not - could not - imagine a heavily-fortified secret facility as a place where their power might be expanded.

But Vega is not most people.

Indeed, it is arguable if he even can be considered *people* at all. The Dictator of Shadowlaw is a presence, a presence of pure, sick, and expansive evil that seems to fill the hallways of the base as he floats through them, his cape falling about his body like a sheathe for a deadly, deadly weapon. A vast and twisted grin is plastered upon his face as he hovers above the floor. Around him float liberated Rebel weapons, glowing with a malevolent purple energy; behind him lay Rebel soldiers, broken and beaten. As he moves through the corridors, but one thought roots in his mind, but one overriding ambiiton fills his imagination.

     More power.

Power for its own sake. Power for the sake of more power, which is then itself turned to become more power. This base, Kyle Katarn - perhaps even his world itself - are merely fuel for the engine of ambition that wears the face of Vega. He is a perpetual machine, always spinning, always seeking.

This base is an opportunity. One that, if exploited correctly, he intends to claim. And, of course, to share in those spoils with his current assistant.

One must always reward allies. It keeps them allied, after all.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
Kyle probably didn't need his precognition to recognize this was a trap. And it doesn't take long for big metal object to fall out of the sky, using only aero and lithobraking to slow his descent. The fifteen foot tall Glare-NT lands on feet and hands with quite a bit of noise, creating a minor crater. The surface of the Armour is still glowing from re-entry. As the machine turns towards Kyle, Project MORDRED's voice is broadcasted over various radio frequencies and through traditional audio waves. "You are under arrest for treason. Surrender now and I will spare you torture."

In case Kyle is thinking about resisting arrest, he draws his broadsword, stepping forwards into a combat stance. "If you do not surrender, I will not hesitate to use force." He sounds confident he can take this fight with ease, confident enough that he steps forward. "This is your only warning."

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Cirra constantine has responsibilities as a Judge, mostly they are being the PRince's of Rahmu's bodygaurd, but sometimes she is sent out to scout out things in the multiverse that are of interest to the Kingdom. And one of those interests is the Allience to Restor the Republic, commonly know as the Rebel alliance. The al Cid administration has it's roots in rebuilding after overthrowing a tyrant, so they understand where the Rebels are coming from, even if they can't overtly support them because of Galianda politics.

So th Judge (which the Confederacy seem to think is a Mercinary, and tha works fine for her) walks along the corridor of a 'blockade runner' class ship parked in the hangar of the Crystal Valley base. "I have but one question." She turns to the rebel trooper escorting her, Judge helemt obscuring her features into an emotionless mask.

"If this is a consular ship, then where is the Ambassador?"

    ...

And thats when a feeling of palpable evil washes over the base and the ship. Cirra puts one hand against the ships wall, "What was..." Even the trooper looks dizzy. Cirra doesn't wait, she turns and storms down the ramp of the ship and into the open hangar, just as Vega floatins in. Well that man looks ominous.

5tThe Judge moves forward, picking up a blaster from a fallen rebel, glances over it and holds the stock to her shoulder as she start firing blaster bolts at the floating psychic hate engine.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James Rogers takes a convenient warp gate to the Crystal Valley area and pilots his quinjet to the rebel base bypassing Kyle and the descending hostile near the non-functional beacon. Quickly getting permission to land at the base the plane lowers to the ground and James disembarks at a run, shield strapped to his back as he enters the base to see where the trouble is.

Finding Vega, James unslings his shield and, in the same motion, activates the field generator build into it causing it to glow a dull red. Unsure the strength of his opponent he draws his standard issue stunner and fires at Vega -- aiming for a solid chest hit -- and braces his shield to be ready to defend himself from and response to his attack.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
Inside, the rebels Vega hasn't immediately reduced to a pulp with his powers draw blasters while trying to get non-combatants to a panic room. Blaster fire from the DH-17 rifles riddle away at Vega, even as the Dictator destroys them entirely with but a thought.

Kyle isn't unaware of Vega's presence, but the gigantic mech arriving to chalenge him isn't above his notice. Calling for backup, the Jedi then unclips the lightsaber from his belt.

The meter length blade roars to life with a sharp hiss, and with an arcing hum Kyle adopts a stance. "You're not the first person to come after me with that one, but usually the Empire would send their own agents, not Fed toadies." He says with a confident smirk.

Just as he's about to join the fight, an E-Web blaster spins up before unleashing a torrent of laser fire towards MORDRED, as rebels posted outside the base engage the mech alongside Kyle.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah pops out of the nearest warpgate at top speed, focusing on the Quinjet to help her figure out where to land. Once she's at the base she unsling's her shields and grips if firm in her left hand. Creeping quietly inside and following her alternate-universe's brother's path through the corridors, She pauses just around the corner from where James and Cirra are confronting Vega to asses the situation. "He doesn't look so tough" She murmurs smugly.

Then she sees the blast door coming at her allies. her free hand goes her her necklace and instantly a large stone hammer appears in her hand, Which she quickly hurls at the door to stop, and maybe even reverse it's momentum.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
"Does it really matter who I work for?" Project MORDRED takes a step forward, and gets pelted with laser fire, pitting a few holes in the ablative protective outer layer of Glare-NT's armor, exposing the thicker inner layer beneath. He immediately responds, boosters in his Armour's feet accelerating towards this distraction as the Armour-sized broadsword is brought forward. It's, perhaps surprisingly, aimed at the weapon instead of those who aim it. A vertical slash to destroy the weapon.

Landing after making his attack, MORDRED once again addresses Kyle. "If these troops attack me again I will not hesitate to treat them as enemy combatants. My quarrel is not with them." He keeps the sword in hand, not touching the long-arm on his back. "Don't you call yourself a Knight? Why are you bringing common troops into a matter between Knights, have you no sense of Chivalry?"

Vega (749) has posed:
Cirra, Sarah, and James enter the base, and the enemy combatant tilts his head to the side to look over his shoulder. Part of his terrible grin peeks over his shoulderpad. It is the grin of a man...no, of a monster, a monster who does not look upon them as people but as entertainment. It is the decadent grin of a monster who, for all the world may know, may have casually broken these Rebel soldiers for no purpose other than his own entertainment. His face is an unreadable mask of pure, unrestrained Evil, as if the face was merely an affectation for something else. But that grin is not the worst part.

The worst part is his eyes. The windows to the soul are empty, blank, a pure and unsettling and unnatural white. The windows to the soul open on...nothing.

As he turns his attentions upon his new enemies he seems to expand, though not physically - no, it is not his physical size but that dark and terrible presence that spreads through the hallways, swelling to fill them with his presence.

As Cirra snatches the blaster upwards, and as James brings up his stun pistol, Vega's eyes blaze with purple light. He throws his hand backwards, and it, too, roils with ominous purple energy - and then so does one of the massive blast doors that's been attempting to close since the alarms started. A moment ago, it was jammed by a mechanical failure.

Now, the wall crumbles as it's ripped free. The building shakes with the sheer force as Vega flings the blast doors down the hallway. They hurtle forwards, scraping the walls with sheer mass and force as heavy metal object acts as defense and offense alike.

It is therefore something of a surprise to Vega when the Hammer of Thor, mighty Mjolnir, burrows directly through the blast door. The laser blast and the stunshot follow through the hole, streaking at him with remarkable speed.

Vega drops to the floor, narrowly evading the triple strikes simply taking his head off. The hammer alone looked heavy enough to remove his skull; the laser and the stun blast would have merely been for good measure.

The look of surprise quickly twists back into his trademark grin as he rises back into the air. Good. Good.

Vega did so love a real challenge.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
The blast doors tear free of their moorings just as Cirra and James' attacks are launched, barely making it past the sudden flying barrier. Well that's going to make finding workable cover harder. "Down!" She shouts to James and Sarah as she dives sideways in a roll behind some crates, popping back up immediatly into a run as the blast doors smash said crates to bits one of the crates contains more weapons. A larger E-web blaster goes flying through the air, and Cirra jumps up a stack of crates, grasping the weapon out of mid air and slings it under one arm.

THe Judge twists in mid air as she comes down, and begins firing the squad support weapon with one hand, laying into Vega with the heavier blaster shots as she attempts to gauge just how powerfull he truely is.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
The E-Web falls apart as the rebels are less lucky than Kyle, who manages to avoid getting cut apart by the massive blade the mech wields. Kyle frowns mildly, before he reaches out at a few barrels of volitile material. "Welcome to war, buddy boy. Chivalry's only up to snuff when it's a formal duel." He says, before suddenly flinging the containers towards MORDRED.

As the containers make impact, they will no doubt keep Mordred distracted while Kyle closes the distance.

The Force fills Kyle's body, and he flings himself up at MORDRED with lightsaber slashing downwards upon the mech's head.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
Being new to the war, James follows orders and dives for cover. Having found some he extends his shield out so that there is a gap between the physical shield and the cover allowing him to gaze out though the red field at Vega as he slides his effectively useless stun gun back in its holster. "Who is this guy?" he asks as he watches for an opportune moment to try his shield.

Seeing an opening as Vega grins, he slings the shield so that it will ricochet off a wall then clip Vega in the ankle -- hopefully to knock him down -- and then bounce back to where James can catch it as it flys over his head.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
"War is no excuse to ignore chivalry." Project MORDRED gets that out before the volatile barrels explode on his Armour's back, blasting away most of the ablative layer there and even digging into the deeper layer of armour. The force makes him stumble forward, giving Kyle a good shot at Glare-NT's head, digging in deep and destroying some of the sensors inside the mechanical object. Fortunately, that's not a crippling disruption, backup sensors going online immediately, and Project MORDRED is not inside the head.

Project MORDRED likes fighting up close, and his monofilament broadsword is immediately moving upwards to catch Kyle as his motion goes back downwards again. "If you want to fight dirty, that's fine. I can stop holding myself back." Thrusters in Glare-NT's feet assist a jump used to emphasize the force behind that sword swing.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah quickly loses the smug smile as she gets a better look at Vega. Almost, but not completely. Her opponent made the mistake of not keeping track of where Mjolnir ended up after it landed, and she uses this to her advantage when she calls it back to her hand, making sure it clocks Vega in the back of the head on the way back!

She can't help but grin a little but makes no assumptions that this is going to keep him down, and uses the few moments the trick gives her to assess her Allies' condition, "How're we doing?" She asks seriously as she brings her shield up protectively, expecting incoming pain any moment.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
"Fine by me, tinman." Kyle says, before he begins to brace himself in defense of that swing. It's a big-ass sword MODRED is using, but Kyle's got enough muscle to not let his defense falter as he evades and defends against the strike, his lightsaber clashing against the monofilament broadsword. (It is a wonderful term to type, one might admit.)

His style goes from offense to defense, as he begins to try and test MORDRED's tactics, moving quick on his feet while he brushes up on his Soresu at the same time, lightsaber at the ready to deflect and nudge away the mecha's strikes. "Who /are/ you anyways? You're obviously not some oversized droid, that's for sure!" He says, tone conversational despite the tense situation.

Vega (749) has posed:
The blast doors past, Vega has no other immediate means of soaking blaster shots. The deadly lasers spray out from Cirra's borrowed gun, red splatters of light filling the air.

Vega roars, bringing up his hand; it pulses with that horrible purple light as his eyes do the same. He drops, his fist hammering into the ground. A blast of that bizarre purple light explodes upwards in front of him, colliding with several blaster bolts on a collision course for his face. The blaster bolts and the purple energy meet, and the blaster bolts explode, splintering through the air like a fireworks display against the purple blast. It's a marvelous display, but probably not the display Cirra was hoping for.

But Vega's attention is focused on the much deadlier blasters. James' shield rebounds off the wall, leaving a heavy dent in the already-warped metal after the blast doors' passing. It bounds backwards, around the shield of purple fire, and crashes into Vega's legs, sending him spinning to the floor. This has the side-effect of bringing him face-first into Mjolnir, which sends him flipping the other way, a burst of ligtning roiling around the impact point on the way through. Vega lands on his face with a thud, and for a moment, they might even believe that the fight is over.

For a brief, brief moment. But that Evil presence hasn't subsided.

Like a puppet being jerked off the floor by its strings, Vega twitches and rises. He dangles in the air, hovering back and forth as his cloak swirls about him.

He throws back his head and laughs. His arms fling outwards, sending his cape roiling about him.

"HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!" Vega's laugh rolls through the halls of the building. It's the kind of laugh a normal person simply can't do, a laugh that resonantes and swells just like the Evil presence around him. Vega's laughter rings out like the tolling of a black bell as he slowly folds his hands back under his cape, letting it fall back around his body.

     His muscular fighter's body.

"Toys," Vega mocks as he floats forward, "You've brought children's toys against me. A child's arsenal against *me*. A sparking hammer, a glowing shield, and a little red gun."

He touches down. "Throw your toys away," Vega warns, the malice in his voice, "And face me as warriors."

Vega rises into the air again, arms crossed imperiously over his chest, his cape flowing behind him. His monstrous grin spreads across his lightning-burned, bruised face as he rises, roiling with purple energy.

Then he slams down into the ground between them with the force of a bomb, both feet hammering into the ground, arms still folded over his chest. A shockwave of purple energy ripples out of the center, hammering against everything in its wake. A crater erupts in the floor around him, and probably the three intrepid Unionites, too; Cirra and James' cover goes flying, ping-ponging and shattering against the dented metal walls as they, too, begin to groan and strain from the stress. The ceiling shakes and quakes, chunks of it falling loose from above as the shockwave.

This area of the base won't be able to take much more of this, that's for certain.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
"Did they not teach you heraldry where you're from?" MORDRED half-mocks, though he sounds aware enough that even if they did, Kyle wouldn't know this particular Heraldry. "Let me educate you. The sign of Earth at the center, Venus, and Mars above it. That's design of the High King, my father, King Arthur." He makes probing strikes, not trying too hard to hit, not overcommitting, trying to read his opponent. He's skilled with the weapon. "The three-pointed label marks above it all me as the eldest son."

When he finally seizes a perceived of opportunity to attack, he hits hard, while at the same time taken the time to finish his introduction. "My name is MORDRED."

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James catches his shield just in time to position it to keep shrapnel from the exploding power unit he was using as cover from catching him in the face and he falls to one knee as the ground buckles beneath him.

After a surprised grunt James returns to a standing position and calls out, "We need to coordinate better here but I don't know this guy or...." having noticed the additional damage his shield caused to the base's architecture a hint of regret can be heard in his voice "... this place obviously! Suggestions for me and Sarah, ma'am?" The question is obviously directed to Cirra who he is assuming to have more experience then him or his equally newly arrived 'semi-half-sister'.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
"I'm a bad student." Kyle quips back with the hint of a grin, "Slept through all that crap as a kid." He taunts, using his smaller size to his advantage as he evades and defends. Eventually he manages a slide underneath Mordred, right between the mech's legs as he slashes downwards at the Jedi. His lightsaber slashes at one of MORDRED's legs, before following that up with a stab at the mech's ankle if he can.

"I'm just a guy with a lightsaber, nobody special, yet." He says, as if downplaying his own skills intentionally. That's got to sting, being wounded by a nobody in the middle of combat, a SQUISHY one at that.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
The Psychio Stomp impacts with the ground, and the shockwave sends Cirra flying backwards against the wall with a heavy *THUD* The Judge grits her teeth as she slides down the wall. Okay, the local weapons can't penetrate this guy's active defenses. "I much prefer the approach of the soldier." She tosses away the E-web, it's too cumbersom now, and draws out sometihng that looks like a card.

Cirra slams into into the ground. "THE. RAMPART!" Magical spikes shoot out of the ground, angeling towards Vega, thereating to stab through him, but most importantly, restrict his mobility on the ground. "SHIELD!" She shouts.

Cirra lifts her light blaster carbine and fires it at James. Hopefully he got the message: reflect it back at Vega.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James grins and nods at instructions heard from his ear bud. He glances at the layout and turns his body slightly, positioning the shield so that Cirra's blaster shot hits it and rebounds at the monstrous 'man'. His angles, if he calculated them correctly in that instant he had to react, will have the bolt targeting Vega's face -- right between the eyes.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
With Glare-NT's legs significantly damaged, MORDRED activates thrusters in the main body of his Armour, compensating for his reduced land mobility by taking to the air. "I read the files. You're someone special, otherwise you'd already be dead." He doesn't sound confident that he's right in this. The statement did hurt, somewhat. He sheathes the Monofilament Broadsword while hovering around ten feet above ground. "Don't think you're getting away this easy."

Then, he draws the XTE Lancepack. He mounts the longarm in its proper position, locked under his Armour's shoulder and aimed with one hand, the other hand in a defensive blocking position. "Can you fly, nobody the fugitive traitor?" Energy starts to build up rapidly at the tip of the lance, before being released as a fast-paced superheated plasma blast.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah hangs back a moment to watch the blaster fire ricochet into Vega's face as she starts whirling Mjolnir around with a metallic hum, preparing it for another assault. "I don't play with toys." She quips back in annoyance. She hurls the hammer again, but hangs onto the strap, sending herself plowing into Vega at ridiculous speeds.

There was a method to her madness that she didn't have time to explain to her comrades. She wants Vega focused on her while they continue the assault from behind. Hopefully they'll see the opportunity.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
"Let's find out!" Kyle says, before he runs like hell towards the speeder bike he'd earlier abandoned. He jukes and jives, avoiding MORDRED's fire as he hops on. THe vehicle roars to life, and Kyle then begins to speed off, only to make a 180 and hurdle towards MORDRED at top speed.

His lightsaber remains activated, and he makes a pass as he slashes at Mordred's leg once he's in range.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
And MORDRED responds to that by accepting Glare-NT's legs will need significant repairs once this is over, he lets the saber hit, he even increases the velocity of the impact. The motion is aimed somewhere, however. The goal is to get a large mass of solid metal otherwise known as his Armour's foot right into Kyle's face. Trying to force a choice, abandon the attack or deal with the consequences. "Reckless." He says, hopefully right after demonstrating why it is.

Vega (749) has posed:
They're clever. Cirra's Rampart spikes stab out of the ground, punching through Vega's chest and out the other side. Blood spills out of the wounds, and, as he coughs, from his mouth. It soaks into, and mingles with, his blood-red uniform. Then Sarah smashes him in the stomach with Mjolnir, ramming him up along the spikes with a crack of thunder and a blast of lightning. His head twitches up just in time to see the blaster bolt hit him in between the eyes. The strike burns black and smolders as his head, arms, and legs go limp, pinned like some great red-and-black butterfly.

     Vega's lip trembles.

     "ENOUGH!"

A pulse of purple power explodes outwards with his roar, corroding metal and twisting wall and floor. That he's even still alive is likely a horror unto itself. But the sadistic grin, blood rolling down his lips, as he grabs the spikes in his massive, meaty hands and simply *thrusts* himself off of them, tearing himself away from Cirra's pin and leaving gaping holes in his own body, is likely far, far worse. Again, he dangles in the air, swaying this way and that like a puppet as if regaining his own focus.

"You are children." Vega's low voice rolls through the field with palpable menace as undented plates start to twitch and warp, covered in purple energy. That malicious force rolls off him in waves, pouring outwards like a violet, violent fog.

"You are children fighting a god. And I grow tired of you."

Vega clenches his fist in front of him. "THE END HAS COME! KNEEL BEFORE MY PSYCHO POWER!"

     "PSYCHO PUNISHER!"

He vanishes. The purple force does not.

He reappears behind Cirra. A massive, meaty fist comes sprawling for the back of her neck. The impact, should it find its mark, blasts outwards with a shockwave of Psycho Power, to punch through her very body. Before she can turn, Vega vanishes again, reappearing behind James. A second meaty fist comes down at his head, the same roiling psycho power effect pulsing through his fist. Again, before James can retaliate, Vega is gone, this time above Sarah; two meaty hands full of purple power come hammering down on her in a reverse haymaker, backed by massive arms, superhuman strength, and purple shockwave.

Again, he disappears. When he reappears next, it is once more behind James, his fist swinging upwards for James's stomach. And again, this time in front of Cirra, at her skull. And again, he appears above Sarah, his feet slamming down as if to pound her into the dirt with pure psychic energy.

And again. And again. And again. And again. And again. Over and over, they are subjected to the punishing, crippling blows of the Psycho Punisher, the explosive force of his Psycho Power, and the instantaneous motion of his teleportation.

And then, mercifully, it ends. Vega appears, not behind any of them, but in front of them, floating down to the ground, arms crossed over his bleeding chest. Purple fire burns around his eyes as he hovers, his toes pointed downwards.

     "Die."

He raises a hand, and closes it into a fist, and the ceiling falls above them as the purple fog that's been filling the stage simply reaches up and drags it down.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
Reckless, but effective. Kyle grins as he makes a hard left, evading the droid's stomp as he slashes as far as he can reach out, only to make a very quick turn with the speeder again. This time, he makes another charge at the droid's back, ramping it to fling itself up high while Kyle deactivates his lightsaber, and suddenly lets off a gout of electricity from his fingertips. It's not quite the Sith lightning the EMperor is best known for, but it's definitely a nasty surprise for Mordred.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
Electricity finally overwhelms the limited self-repair systems that allowed MORDRED to compensate for the damage Glare-NT is taking, and perhaps even worse, his flesh gets a taste of it through his Neurohelm. He manually sets thrusters to full, flying backwards as he sets up one more shot. One more attempt to disable this slippery bugger as he considers his odds of success versus the resources that further fighting would cost him.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah gets slammed into the ground with the first attack, letting out a yelp of pain that she quickly forces out of her mind. She shakily raises her shield to try and fend of the next attacks, but they just keep coming, and coming! The Vibranium helps, but Vega's likely caught onto that, so she ends up getting pummeled from multiple direction. The only thing she can do is just roll with the punches, and whatever the hell that purple crap is. She lets herself go ragdoll-like until it;s over, barely managing to raise her shield again in time as the ceiling comes down on her.

She hasn't been in this much pain before. She's far tougher than an normal human and she's actually bleeding! It takes her a moment, but she gets up. Pop never quit when he was down and Sarah's not going to either! "You Babble too much!" She spits at Vega. "Enough with the Parlor tricks!" She swings Mjolnir at him with all the strength she has left. "Fight me!" She snarls, following up with what would normally be a left hook were it not for the Star Shield in her hand, "One way or another we're finishing this now!"

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
Vega is still alive, still /fighting/. Cirra's eyes widen slightly behind the helmet's red visor. Then he dissappears, "Teleportation-" Alexander Academy teaches that if an enemy can disappear - or teleport - then the first palce they'll go for is your back. Cirra begins turning, reaching for something else in mid air, but hte psycho power is too strong, too fast.

Punched in the side of the neck, Cirra goes flipping end over end until she smashes through a piel of crates, scattering them everywhere as she lands, "Ghk!" Jude armor si sturdy though, even the under suit is designed to spread out magical impacts, it probably saves her from a broken neck. When Vega reappears, it's over her prone form, slamming into her horned helmet like a pile driver, hard enough that the floor behind her head dents inwards. That ought to just about finish her off even before the ceilign begins to shake.

"Get...into.." Black smoke starts to leak out of her armor. "-/ship/!"

Cirra unsteadily rises to both feet as blood on her armor starts to evapourate, turning itno more smoke. A crystaline sword appears in one hand as her eyes glow golden through the red visor, and she surges forward. Ceiling falling behind in her wake as the psycho power tears it down from over head.

Cirra doesn't like to use the Law blade outside Galianda, it's too much of a tell - or will be in the future, but now, she uses it like an over sized fencing blade, charging in at Vega with speed fueld by turning her own blood into Magic Particles.

Slamming the weapon's point forward a dozzen times in half a second, she passes Vega, kipping up on to a wall to run along it for several seconds before diving udner the body of the Consular Ship.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
The moment Vega vanishes James is trying to get a bead on where he is. At the first sound of impact behind him -- Vega punching Cirra -- he turns his head to look that way which allows him to catch the barest hint of a warning when Vega appears behing him...

If he possessed superhuman reflexes, perhaps James could have completely dodged the overhand punch... but no. However, his reflexes were sufficient to parry the first punch by raising his shield up to meet it... knocking him back about a yard in the process.

Then Vega is in front of him suddenly and he takes a solid gut punch which lifts him into the air and sends him flying a few yards where he tries to land in a crouch but ends up on one knee again.

Next Vega is at his side and again James nearly takes a hit but manages to get his shield between him and his assultant who vanishes after the next punch. Winded from the gut punch James finds a corner to brace himself in leaving Vega with no target other than the shield. *CLANG* James is pushed back into the wall and only has enough time to brace again before another and another until Vega tries to bring the roof down upon him. Between a quickly raised shield and being in a corner with two support walls on either side, James only ends up standing amid rubble instead of burried beneath it.

Again James tosses his shield, putting every bit of effort he can behind it, but instead of going for any fancy bounce shots the glowing metallic super-frisbee is aimed to strike Vega's dominant arm's shoulder blade. "Child /that/ you jerk!"

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
Of course, despite his cockiness, Kyle was inevitably going to end up suffering for his arrogance in this fight. The bike is hit by a plasma blast from MORDRED's lance, causing it to let off smoke as he loses control of the speeder bike. "Guhk!"

He's about to slam into the mountainside before he leaps off the vehicle, lightsaber extinquishing as he makes a tumble across the ground. Ow. Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW. /Ow./

Bruised and scorched from all this excitement, Kyle forces himself to stand, wobbling as he reactivates his lightsaber in the event Mordred begins to pursue him to finish the job.

Project MORDRED (804) has posed:
It was a good hit, maybe Vega will be able to finish it off, but with all the damage Glare-NT has taken, outlook of success is poor. "Next time I'll get you!" MORDRED promises, or threatens, as emergency escape thrusters go into full power. "Don't think I'll forget this, traitor!"

Vega (749) has posed:
Sarah and James attack in unison, swinging their weapons at Vega's massive body. His right arm comes up to meet James's shield, the spinning beam grinding against purple fire and a heavy metal band. His left arm does the same against Sarah's swing of the hammer, then the shield, the low un-sound of Vibranium meeting metal and supernatural power ringing out through the decimated halls. The force of it is deafening on both sides, and, even through the shield of purple fire wrapped about his arms, the metal bands bend inwards, digging into Vega's flesh. Lightning erupts from the Thunder God's hammer as it struggles against the furious power of Vega's psychic might, thunder meeting un-sound and cancelling itself out into an eerie silence that sweeps through the collapsing hallway.

As the ceiling crumbles around them, Vega's fury mounts. And the angrier he gets...

Well, James and Sarah undoubtedly have some experience with individuals who grow more powerful from negativity.

Unfortunately, with his arms pinned, he's open to Cirra's furious strike. Fuelled by Law, by blood, and by magic, the Judge Blade stabs into Vega's back over and over, hammering new holes in his body. More blood spills forth from his mouth as he doubles over, presumably in pain. Vega has not bled in a very long time.

     It is...exciting.

Vega tears his arms free of James and Sarah's shields, flinging himself backwards as Cirra goes for the ship. James' shield goes spinning off past him, as if it had never lost any momentum, and presumably will return to James if James so wills it. The Dictator of Shadowlaw hovers for a moment, watching them thoughtfully.

He is bloody. His body will need severe rejuvenation, or perhaps full-out abandonment. The children have injured him for the moment, and that annoys him, and MORDRED has not been able to capture Kyle Katarn, and that frustrates him. Vega draws on the anger, on the pain, on the hurt and frustration, dragging it into himself.

He throws out his hands, and the power pours out of him. The shockwave rips through the halls of the Rebel base, starting with the torn and twisted durasteel of the hallway they were fighting in. It shudders, shaking, and the walls topple inwards upon themselves - and possibly James and Sarah. With those walls already bent and broken, the base starts to shake. Proximity alarms and warning lights start going off as the supporting hallway crumbles to bits.

And with the supporting hallway down, the rest of the base isn't far behind. Secret bases, after all, are easy to collapse, in order to protect their secrets from the enemy.

Vega does not care about their secrets.

     He cares about destruction.

As the building starts coming down around them, Vega gives them a last, lingering look. Upon MORDRED's confirmation of retreat, he vanishes in a burst of purple fire, leaving his image etched into the air in that same violet energy for a brief moment. Then it, too, dissipates.

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah falls back and rolls towards her alt-u brother. using her shield to help protect the both of them from the rest of the base collapsing around them. When the dust settled, the rubble isn't much of a problem to dig her way out of, even as tired as she is. "Yeah.. you better run." She murmurs as she drools blood onto the ground, helping James up and starting to limp her way towards Cirra's ship

James Rogers (802) has posed:
James accepts Sarah's help up and then retrieves his shield from a few feet away before following along behind her, holding his right arm across his aching stomach as he slings his shield behind his back after turning it off, wincing slightly at the movement.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
It isn't really Cirra's ship, it was the rebellion's. But it serves to prevent falling debris. The Judge limps her way up the boarding ramp and collapses against the wall, sliding down the side. Theres environmental systems in here, so theres no fear of suffocating from dust, and debris blocking the air.

Kyle Katarn (778) has posed:
Kyle carries himself to the ship, slumping besides Cirra with a heavy sigh. Giving some calls over the Union bands, he then closes his eyes, clutching his side with a pained grunt. "Kriff, that's going to ache in the morning."

Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah gets James to the ship, then heads back into what's left of the base to search for any more survivors. She'd prefer to just collapse into bed for the next three days, but she's got to make sure the job's done first. Once she's sure everyone who can be saved is out, She makes her way back to the transport again, electing to let it carry her to safety rather than trying to fly to a warpgate on her own.

James Rogers (802) has posed:
On the way to the ship James glances in the direction of his quinjet. The mangled ruins of the plane can be seen sticking out of the rubble of the base around it. He sighs, "Tony's going to have my hide over the loss of that when I ask him to send me a new one." He starts to setting into a seat and decides instead to start tending those injured more than himself as Sarah brings them aboard.

Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Just as the dust billows outward on the facility, the clouds all dart sideways as a ship descends from above, baring Union colors. It's a pretty generic dropship that vaguely resembles one of Terran make. It hovers, then quickly descends as an appropriate landing spot is selected.

From within the ship a dozen or so elephant-sized utility mecha deploy, chicken-legged looking numbers with massive pincers mounted on their arms. Each sport an open cockpit. Immediately, the operators guide them into the debris and start moving the rubble, freeing survivors as needed.

Following the mecha are a dozen Union EMTs to include Kyra Hyral. She walks for a few moments like she's actually in charge of the operation before a senior Union medical staff officer steps out of the ship behind her. A pout flashes across her face and she rushes in, unshouldering a massive grenade-launcher looking gun off her back.

Cirra Constantine (675) has posed:
As th Rogers come up the ship's ramp, Cirra pulls off her helmet, letting her long silver hair spillout as she leans against the bulkhead. "You two worked excellently out there."
