Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Spinach Wastes, one of many arenas arranged for the World Martial Arts Tournament. Tonight, a match had been scheduled between two mighty warriors. But one of them seems to be missing. There's been no sign of the Mankanshoku girl since her last fight against Fassad. Though the propensity for the lands called home by Saiyens and Kung Fu Rockstars do have a propensity for strange dinosaurs-- such as the rex-like beastie currently making its way to the cordoned off arena with slow, plodding steps.

It reaches the edge and just kind of stands there, looking more confused than hungry. After a long pause, the jaw hinges open and it emits a mighty cough, hacking out a lack and crimson bundle onto the ground. This tumbles a few times, bouncing, until it unfurls into a girl who lands on her feet.

Mako, mysteriously dry, blinks twice upon landing upright. With a little 'ooh!' sound, she seems to realize where she is, turning in place and raising a hand to wave, "Thanks for the ride, mister dinosaur!"

The lizard, for all its worth, looks sick as it turns and stomps away.

Mako whirls in place and props her hands on her hips, "OKAY! I'm ready to fight for the chance to fight Ryuko! Fight Club President Mankanshoku Mako has arrived totally on time and on purpose!"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Ysabel, on her end, has been waiting. Waiting. Waaaiting for her opponent to arrive, so that she can have the chance to get into the main tournament after being beaten by Kirikou. The huntress sits on a rock in the Wastes, the switchblade-like Ascheberg-Level greatsword folded on her back, one elbow on her knee and her cheek on that balled fist. A steady frown is on her features.

"...where /is/ she," the huntress grumbles, looking around the green fields.

    STOMP STOMP STOMP.

Ysabel suddenly jumps to her feet, and in a second the Ascheberg-Level is drawn from her back and held in front of her with both hands, unfolded to its full twelve-foot length. There's a /dinosaur/ here. Why is there a dinosaur here?!

...and then her opponent appears, spat out onto the ground and suddenly eager for a match.

An absolute 'what the fuck just happened' look settles on Ysabel's face as she /stares/ at Mako, taking several moments of silence to find her words. "...um. Yeah, kid, I think you're not quite there yet. I'm Ysabel; your next opponent for the qualifiers, remember?"

A wary glance is given to the dinosaur as it plods away.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
"Yeah, I know!" Mako reaches up, gripping the brim of her cap between thumb and knuckle and pulling it to one side at a decidedly non-uniform-regulation fashion. The clover between her teeth jumps when she twirls, then slams a foot down firmly enough to form a spiderweb of cracks around her, "Didn't you hear me? President of the Honnouji Academy Fight Club! It's my job not to forget about a fight! I'd be a pretty terrible president if I was no good at it!"

She raises one hand, fingers splayed out, and makes a show of popping her knuckles one-handed before closing it into a fist, "I'm pumped up, let's go, miss Ysabel!" This has to be the most polite Bancho that's ever worn a coat on her shoulders, "Please do your best and give it everything you've got, okay? I'd be pretty sad if you didn't!"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Cracking the ground? Great. Now she's going to have to deal with someone who's no doubt fast /and/ capable of raw power. Ysabel hates those fights.

Well, looks like she'll just have to adapt. Maybe the biggest greatsword in her arsenal wasn't the best choice.

"...right," Ysabel sighs, rolling her shoulders a little and bracing her sword more firmly. "I don't really want to lose a second time, so I'll be giving you my best shot, don't worry. I'd be a pretty shitty hunter if I didn't give it a hundred percent every time."

The problem with the greatsword is that it telegraphs its assaults every time; very few people can move such a heavy weapon with much speed, and Ysabel isn't one of them. Still, the huntress gives it her best shot, stepping forward and swirling around.

It takes significant strength to control the Ascheberg-Level, and Ysabel brings that into focus for her first swing. A horizontal slash cleaves through the air, aimed to strike Mako with the searing hot orange blade! Unfortunately for Ysabel, the completion of that swing is also going to force her into recovery for a second or two, destabilizing her balance with the sheer weight of the weapon.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
"Great!" Mako positively beams from where she stands, "I look forward to seeing what you can do!" Her hand sweeps down and the girl shifts into a less showboaty brawling stance, hands raised to either side but no real style or form to it. Her legs tense along with the rest of her, measuring the charge and gauging the way Ysabel carries her sword.

There's a glimmer behind those bright, brown eyes and Mako hurls herself aside, right into the swing's arc. Her hand snaps out, the golden knuckleduster glistening, and she uses this to knock the blade downward with a resounding metallic CLANG that shoves its arc off the impact course and allows her to pass over it with only a few singes and a flame on her clover sprig which is already sputtering out by the time the girl lands.

She lands with a surprisingly solid sound, knees bent into a crouch, and then shoves off. The ground shatters underneath her from the force of the leap, as Mako hurls herself right up close and personal to the professional hunter-- It's not a ramming attack, just a closer so she can make use of her fists! The coconut-headed girl thrusts out a feint with her left, then dips and brings her right in at an upward angle towards Ysabel's side, that knuckleduster catching the sun.

    "Eey-- Eeey~!"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
    "Ah shi-"

The Ascheberg-Level is knocked aside, its blade scorching through the grass as it's dragged along by its own momentum. Ysabel can only manage so much in this position, and Mako's barreling right for her!

It's probably only a little less than sheer luck that allows Ysabel to avoid being directly pummeled by the girl's duster. She twists and tries to follow along with her sword's momentum, flipping over the blade as the knuckleduster gleams along her bare back and its glowing lightning bolt tattoos. That's going to bruise later.
Fortunately, Ysabel is able to dig in her feet and try to make use of Mako's new position, as well as the position of her greatsword. With a forceful shout, the huntress yanks and /shoves/, pulling her weapon free and delivering another diagonal upward swing toward Mako that sends the burning greatsword in an arc behind her.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
The smaller girl darts back a pace, drawing her arm back with a gleam of her distinctive brass knuckles, preparing a follow-up attack with a winding motion. And then suddenly SWORD. With a squawk of surprise, the girl is swatted skyward with a cleaving sound, shedding off motes of crimson light from damaged Life Fibers and trailing smoke from the flaming blade's surprise follow-through. The smoke traces a nice arc through her flight, until the girl rights herself to land on her feet, a large smoldering gash sizzling in the side of her Goku Uniform coat.

The interior zigs and zags, darting crimson markings on a black background, while Mako rears up, "Okay, I really gotta take you seriously!" A hand dives into her jacket, then slings out, hurling a fistful of gold-tinged items. A hammer, some baseballs, and a worn looking crowbar. Right on the heels of this distraction Mako hurls herself forward again, spiked geta digging pits in the ground with every step until she outright launches herself with a flip, careening feet-first, leading with those wooden sandals with the glittering red spiked teeth, "From here on out it's Serious Mako Time! This is my serious fa~ace!"

She's still grinning like an idiot, though.

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Fortunately, that uppercut gives Ysabel a few moments to get her sword back into position in front of her, rather than embedded in the ground behind her. The hunter gives a sharp huff; that was a close one, and probably not something she should've let herself get into.

"What, you weren't taking me seriously at the start? I'm almost offended," Ysabel quips, though her tone indicates she's more joking than anything. This whole mid-battle banter thing is still a little new to her.

Unfortunately, she doesn't have much time to practice. Various distractions are suddenly slung at her, and Ysabel does what any self-respecting greatsword-user would do: she quickly crosses her sword in front of her, bracing it against her hands and using it as a makeshift shield against the various items. It's a stroke of luck that this also protects her from the swirling Mako Missile that careens toward her.

The huntress suddenly feels as though she just blocked the hammer-like tail of a Diablos. When Mako strikes, she's sent skidding back several feet, her own armored feet digging trenches into the earth from the force of the blow. She suddenly feels very grateful she wasn't hit by it herself.

"How the /hell/ do you do this shit?" Ysabel's shout comes with the sudden shove of her weapon to try and destabilize Mako in the air, before she pulls the Ascheberg-Level back and swirls once more. She can't really hit with the burning blade of the weapon very well here, but she /can/ try to strike the girl with the main body of the weapon, swinging like a batter with an oversized bat made out of a fire-breathing dinosaur.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
    CLONK

When Mako's feet slam into Ysabel's sword, she bends her knees, preparing to spring off. However, the huntress makes use of her position to yank the weapon out from behind the girl's feet and then, with a hollow sound at impact, swats Mako across the arena. She sails with a "Waah!" of objection, bouncing several times and then skidding to a halt on her face, hands held up to either side. Bringing them down, she pushes herself up and makes a 'psho!' sound, spitting out grit, "Wow!"

Springing to her feet, the girl reaches into her coat again, removing a length of golden chains, "I really can't get close to you, huh? That's okay~!" More of that chain pays out and she brings it up over her head, hurling the links around above herself like a lasso. Once she's built up enough speed, the girl lets loose, throwing the chain out in an attempt to ensnare Ysabel's body, "It's my uniform~!" she explains, "Anyone who wears a goku uniform is given--" The chain is suddenly WRENCHED and the girl rears back, "--incredible powers!"

It's not her fist that actually attacks. One of the sleeves of Mako's jacket inexplicably produces a large, cartoony white glove which balls itself up into a fist and swings out to meet whatever it may be that Mako managed to yank towards herself.

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Ysabel's already breathing heavily at how much effort she's being made to push through here. The greatsword clangs to the ground at her side once Mako's sent flying, and Ysabel takes a few precious moments to catch her breath and figure out what the hell this girl is even doing.

She takes a moment too many, though.

The chain suddenly lashes out and coils around her, and before Ysabel can do much more than shout "WHAT THE FU-", she's sent hurtling across toward her opponent. Followed by the massive glove that /slams/ right into her, pairing its own momentum with hers to hit like the fist of an enraged Rajang.

Ysabel isn't quite sure of the last time she was sent flying this far, but boy is it a distance.

Finally, she comes skidding and tumbling to a halt on her back, with the Ascheberg-Level left spinning in the air where she was hit before it embeds itself in the earth. That's...a problem.

The huntress gives a groan as she pushes herself to her feet, taking a second to dust herself off and glare over at Mako. No weapon, and all the way over here...what's a woman to do?

Take a page from Mako's book and /charge/, mostly. Ysabel /sprints/, running as fast as she can toward her opponent. She leaps along the way, bounding off a rock, then another, trying to zig-zag her path a little to be less predictable. When she comes near her sword, she leaps for it...and instead of grabbing it, uses it as a springboard to deliver a flying kick right for Mako!

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
The blow fortunately also untangled Ysabel from the chain, which Mako winds back with a swirling motion that wraps it several times around her extended arm, gripping the dangling end in her clenched hand. When her stance changes, the links clatter against one another, adding an unintentional menace to every movement. Such as when she twirls on Ysabel's latest charge. She fully expects the woman to go for her sword, and so the sudden flying kick catches her by surprise--and right in the face.

"Mako's arms shoot out to either side and she goes down with a startled "Gweh..!" sound and tumbles, before pushing herself back up. Much like the noble Weeble, Makos wobble but do not stay down.

Turning on Ysabel, Mako folds her arms, chains clinking, and her smile returns, "You're pretty good even without your sword! I knew this would be fun!" Her other sleeve produces a glove to match its partner, fingers clenching before they start moving of their own accord like extra hands. Both great gloves wrap around the Ascheberg-Level's hilt and strain, hauling the enormous weapon out of the stone and soil it had embedded itself into. With a flicking motion, the enormous sword is hurled upward, spinning end over end while Mako unfolds her arms and shifts her feet.

"But it's yours so--" Her fist draws back, distinctive star-shaped knuckleduster glistening, "--YOU CAN HAVE IT BACK~!" With a lightning fast motion Mako thrusts her fist forward and time slows just so the audience can see what actually HAPPENS: The enormous Ascheberg-Level drops down, spinning, such that it would land flat on the ground by the time it hits. Mako's fist, shielded by the golden Brass Knuckle she wears, slams into the pommel guard. Metal deforms slightly on impact and there's a burst of crimson stars sparking off from where the weapons touch.

Transformed into a missile, the Ascheberg-Level sails point-first right for Ysabel!

About a mile away, a hillside suddenly depresses into an enormous 'MAKO' symbol, surrounded by the distinctive star shape.

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
"I could use some practice," Ysabel retorts gruffly, bracing in a (clearly inexperienced) fighting stance that lends a sort of feral look to her, with the wolf-like armor she wears. She's not confident enough to go right back for her sword just yet: you never turn your back on a monster when you're unarmed, and Mako is proving to be about as dangerous as the things Ysabel has to face regularly. Except Ysabel has much less experience with her.

And since she doesn't go for the sword, Mako does.

Ysabel suddenly goes wide-eyed, looking like she really wants to go to grab the sword bot being very uncertain that she'll be able to. "-hey, wait! What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

The answer comes so fast that Ysabel barely has any time to react to it.

If she weren't wearing the armor she is, it's entirely possible that the massive sword flying toward her would outright kill her. As it stands, she manages to twist aside, and the burning blade cracks against armored plates and electrified fur to send up a burst of flame before knocking Ysabel back and flat on her rear. A tree finds its trunk seared through, stopping the sword from going completely into the distance.

Ysabel finds herself intensely grateful that she made it out of that one.

The huntress scrabbles to her feet and dashes over to the Ascheberg-Level. Damn the risk, she's not letting Mako get a hold of that thing again! Grasping the handle and /yanking/ with all her might, Ysabel tugs the weapon free from its temporary sheath with a rain of burning splinters. Rather than slash, however, Ysabel pushes the momentum she already has into her assault: with a forceful cry, she spins the sword a little and thrusts the point straight for Mako from afar, making use of the distance and her own strength. Maybe not as flashy as Mako's own attacks, but it sure has some punch behind it.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
A whirl of sleeves and arms, Mako recovers from her power punch, hands to either side and balled into fists. Astride them are the sleeves of her long coat, also held out to either side with the fingers not quite balled up. Rather, the gloves are open, fingers curled but readied. The singed clover in her teeth dances up and down with the girl's smile-- Despite the viciousness of that latest assault, she's as warm as a sunny day by that face.

"Giving it back," she comments, "Now you got it, see?" Her stance changes-- an experienced warrior would easily note that Mako has not used any sort of official style whatsoever, and just kind of does whatever-- when Ysabel closes enough to jab at her with the overly long weapon. The first stab is avoided right out, the girl skipping back with a surprised noise. The second one is straight up halted by both sleeve-hands clamping down on the blade in a No-Sword grab, searing black marks into the white gloves but trapping the blade. Flames lick at the sleeves of her Uniform as well, exposing the glowing red Life Fibers within the leathery material.

"It wouldn't be very fun to fight you if you didn't have your weapon, right?"

Mako moves the lower glove swiftly out of the way while shoving down and to the side with the upper glove, driving the Ascheberg-Level into the ground at her side. Gloves still wreathed in flames, the girl closes in down the blade's length, leading with her left hand, than a right cross with her knuckleduster. What follows is a hammer-chain beatdown using the flaming white clothed fists of her uniform's sleeve arms.

"Every fight should be fun~! That's the point of Fight Club! If you win I'll let you join, you interested?"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
The Ascheberg-Level is driven into the earth, scorching the dirt and grass around the blade. Ysabel's frown deepens, but she expected something like that; the ridiculous size of her sword is proving to be a hinderance here, and one that Mako is very fond of taking advantage of.

Fortunately, it also means that Ysabel has a few moments of warning to figure out what Mako's about to do. Fists are coming toward her, and while she's not great at it, Ysabel can adapt well enough to blocking something like this.

The huntress lets go of her greatsword so that her arms can be used to block Mako's pounding fists. First, though, she chooses to evade: two quick twists keep flaming fists from doing more than grazing over her, but her arms have to come up for the next two blows. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop it from /hurting/, for while Ysabel keeps her core body away from damage, she can still feel the burning, jarring shock of each punch through the azure Zinogre plates over her arms.

Yeah, she's not going to be doing /that/ much more.

"You don't survive where I come from without - nnh! - learning some tricks to use without your weapon." While the electrical charge natural to the Zinogre is only latent in the armor she wears, it's still enough to add a bit of a jolt to the glowing blue claws on her hands and the blades along her forearms. And while she may not be particularly /skilled/ in hand-to-hand combat, there's clearly a lot of raw strength in those arms.

"Besides-" Ysabel suddenly ducks and twists, trying to circle around Mako to find an opening before she delivers her own series of blows. "-I don't think your Fight Club has my kind of opponents!" The lupine hunter starts her assault, driving a series of strong punches reinforced with those sharp claws and slashes with the blades along her forearms, going for raw strength and speed to make up for her obvious lack of technique.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
"At Honnouji Academy--" Mako explains as Ysabel starts swinging back with electrified claws, "--Strength is status!" As blows are exchanged, electricity and fire swirl around both fighters, singing and crackling. Though Mako's taking the brunt of the assault head on, with tears and burns appearing on her uniform's white blouse or the black leathery jacket worn over it, there's a big smile on her face and the clover in her teeth bounces excitedly with her movements.

The entirely-within-theme-for-the-WMAT's-location brawl ends when a critical hit nearly completely severes Mako's left sleeve at the elbow, shedding off crimson fibers and glowing red motes of light. The remaining cloth tears and the sleeve's fist is completely removed, tumbling and then landing a few feet away, utterly deflated-- Just an empty sleeve and burning glove.

Immediately, Mako feints back, lowering her remaining large glove as a shield while driving her hands underneath her coat. Something unsnaps, and she hauls out a gold-colored metal rod that by any rights should not fit in that coat at all. When the end emerges, it almost looks like a mace, large and square with decorative curls-- and is it glowing?

    It's a lamp post.

    "Here I come~!"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
The hell? Her clothing is alive?

The torn-off sleeve is a momentary distraction for Ysabel. She wasn't expecting it to be so...flashy. Or to be completely prone on being removed. That's definitely something she should keep in mind, then; maybe Mako can be fought more like her usual opponents than Ysabel thought.

She's going to have to worry about that /after/ the lamp post comes flying for her head, though, for which Mako's cheerful shout is the only warning she has.

    CLANG.

Stars fill Ysabel's vision, and when they fade, she realizes she's suddenly on her hands and knees on the grass. She's quick to shake her head and scramble to her feet - with a slight wobble once she finds her footing - before turning to Mako again. "...you've really got some shit up those sleeves," she winces, rolling her shoulders.

The huntress suddenly darts forward, swooping down to deliver a kick to Mako's shins in an attempt to stun her before going for the Ascheberg-Level. Once her hands are on the hilt, she spins around, rips it free from the ground, and sends it slamming vertically down onto the hopefully-stunned Mako!

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
"The Fight Club President should always be prepared!" Mako cheers, swinging the lamp post up and resting it over her shoulder with a wide grin. She really just seems to be here for the fun of it, there's nothing at all mocking about her behavior. She's even giving Ysabel plenty of time to pick herself up after ringing her bell with a freakin' lamp post. Though Ysabel's trip to her feet involves a kick at Mako's shins, which doesn't knockher down but does cause her to hop back with a "Whoop!" of surprise.

This gives the Hunter all the space she needs to retrieve her absurdly huge sword and wrench it free. The flaming blade is brought around and down, just as Mako recovers, and she hauls up her lamp post defensively. The Ascheberg-Level's weight and inertia is more than the Fiber-reinforced lamp can take, though, and the makeshift weapon buckles, shattering in the center and breaking into two large pieces. Her defense broken, Mako is slammed face-first into the ground in a crash solid enough to send cracks spider-webbing out around her, her hands held up to either side while the dust settles.

The girl remains still like that for several long moments. Quite suddenly, she twitches, then scuttles backward underneath the Aschebert-Level until she's out from under it, scoring a burn mark up the back of her black jacket. Only when free of the weapon's weight does Mako haul herself to her feet, rubbing the back of her head, "Wow! Did that thing get heavier? It's a cool sword!"

The girl brings her hands together, smacking her knuckleduster against her palm with an impact that scatters dust and small stones away from her, throwing out her tattered jacket with a burst of wind, "I just gotta go at it harder!"

When Mako kicks off into a charge, the ground craters beneath her sandals, the lunge being more of a leap across the distance between fighters. With her right hand drawn back, knuckleduster gleaming, Mako descends on Ysabel with a shout, thrusting her fist into a gravity-assisted downward punch. It seems like a simple attack-- except the sheer force of whatever she hits is enough to cause an explosion and a huge crater.

At the floor of the depression is a star-shaped impression surrounding giant block letters spelling out 'MAKO'.

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
It's with a grunt of effort that Ysabel hefts her greatsword again, holding it in front of her at a 45-degree angle in a ready position. "Nah, not heavier, just-"

Suddenly, Mako punches her palm with enough force to send wind billowing outward and scatter dust off the ground, and Ysabel feels the need to be much more alert. Mako charges, and Ysabel, teeth grit, brings up the flat of her greatsword again to brace for impact.

But greatswords aren't really built for blocking.

The punch strikes, the explosion blasts, and the earth ruptures in an incredible crater. Ysabel has blocked quite a few things in her time, but Mako's assault hits her in a way that she can't just endure. The fist dashes Ysabel's sword out of the way, and the huntress is hit by the full brunt of that devastating blast.

It's a few moments of silence later when Ysabel finds herself crumpled in that crater, steaming and burned after the attack she just endured. Standing is difficult, but she manages, with obvious wincing and struggling. "...nice one," she coughs, straining to get her sword raised and her body braced again. As stoic as she may be, she certainly can't take many more of those. "Now it's /my/ turn."

Ysabel's left forearm suddenly sends off a flash of blue light, before blazing blue energy pours along it, crackling and jolting like an angry god's lightning. The latent power of the Zinogre courses through her, flaring into her sword for one more strike.

A quick twist pushes Ysabel's body weight into the Ascheberg-Level, delivering the weapon to Mako in a quick sideways jab. That's only the setup, however, for Ysabel brings the sword back again, twisting and bracing almost like a batter about to strike, with the greatsword against her shoulder. She stays there for a few moments, but not idly: a faint red aura suddenly rushes around her, followed by a white jolt, and finally climaxing in a bright white flash around her whole body.

    It's then that she strikes.

With a great roar, Ysabel turns. The Ascheberg-Level's flaming blade isn't swung like a bat, but instead Ysabel puts her entire body behind the weapon in a downswing. A faint red trail follows the blade's edge through the air; a herald of overwhelming, monstrous power condensed into a single strike!

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
The explosive force of her own attack sends Mako back several meters and she lands on the edge of her self-made crater, sliding down towards the center with a surprised noise and flailing arms in a trajectory that delivers her right to where Ysabel is busy recovering her senses. She's met with the enormous greatsword with enough force to send her sprawling, arms and legs in all directions. By the time the girl comes to rest and starts scrambling to her feet, it's been plenty of time for the Ascheberg-Level to charge and come swinging down.

The impact creates a very neat crack across the crater floor, splitting Mako's name in half and cleaving open the crater's edge in a gout of flames and lightning.

In the center of the blackened slash is Mako, arms on one side, legs on the other, twitching and sizzling. The back of her coat is blasted open, revealing the glowing crimson Life Fiber contained within the uniform, sliding back and forth across a deep black backdrop. Glittering motes of red float around the damaged sections, sheared off by the impact.

With a groan, Mako pushes herself up on hands and knees, rubbing at her head, "/Wow/! Ouch!" She hauls herself up to her feet, pressing her hands against her back and straightening herself with a popping noise, "I don't think I can go much longer, you're pretty strong..!" Her head turns and she reaches up, adjusting the brim of her cap until it obscures one eye, "... But I'll fight 'til I can't move anymore, 'cuz I wanna fight Ryuko later..! So you better be ready!"

Trailing motes from damaged Life Fiber and a Uniform that is barely holding together at this point, the girl bends her knees and then springs up into the air. She twists herself into a flip and brings herself down heel-first, leading with the crimson spikes on her battered geta sandals in a vicious aerial axe kick, "--Hyah~!"

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Ysabel's breaths come heavily after that assault. It's a few moments before she hoists her weapon up again, but by the time she does, that crackling blue energy along her arm flickers away. That was definitely the best she'll be able to give in this fight.

    ...and Mako's /still/ not down.

A sigh hisses through Ysabel's teeth, but the huntress still prepares to finish this fight. It's not over until either Mako's down and carvable or Ysabel's being carted off by cats.

"And I don't have any interest in being beaten again, so come at me all you want!"

And Mako sure does. Ysabel's attempt to evade that next axe kick fails utterly; Mako's spikes dig in against her chest, sending her stumbling back and breaking her hold on the giant sword in her hands. The Ascheberg-Level crashes to the ground as Ysabel stumbles back, one hand coming over the injury on her chest.

    No...!

This time, Ysabel hardly takes a moment to recover. The instant she stabilizes herself from her stumble, she digs her clawed boots into the ground and charges forward. Her left hand balls into a fist, her legs bend...and with a furious cry, she leaps up, delivering a clawed uppercut with what strength she has left.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Scoring a solid hit, Mako's feet slam into the ground, throwing out dust and deepening the crater floor noticeably. She also lands with her arms out to either side like a real martial artist-- a skillset the notorious Honnouji Slacker never bothered to hone. She probably did it for balance rather than any sort of formal training.

    "Eh?"

Ysabel's voice tells her she hasn't beaten the Hunter, and the girl takes a moment to move her extended foot, as if expecting the woman to be there. This leaves her open for Ysabel's counterattack. The uppercut catches her right in the face, knocking the girl right off her feet and, as expected, into the air. She tumbles head over heels until she lands, head-first, on the lip of the crater and remains there in a face-down heap.

After a few moments, her hat flutters down and lands on her upraised posterior. While Mako is no longer moving, the shifting crimson lines on the exposed interior of her uniform are as lively as ever. Though unable to do anything. Clothes can't move on their own, after all.

    That'd be silly.

Ysabel Thibault (581) has posed:
Ysabel's landing isn't quite as graceful as Mako's earlier. She stumbles and wobbles, the brunt of her strength expended on that last uppercut, but manages to prevent herself from falling right over. She doesn't relax for quite some time, though, fists raised and breaths coming heavily.

This wouldn't be the first time someone played dead on her, after all.

Finally, though, it seems she really has taken out Mako. The huntress gives a slow sigh of relief as she visibly relaxes, shaking out her arms a little and walking up to Mako.

"...that was a close one," she mutters, nodding down at the unconscious girl. "Nice work, kid. Maybe I'll have to stop by your club anyway just to see who's taught you."

With that, Ysabel walks off to her sword, hoisting it up and folding it in half like a switchblade. The massive weapon is placed on her back again, and once she's certain she can, the huntress carefully walks off toward her freedom, clambering up the side of Mako's crater.

She's gonna need a drink after that.

Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
    MEANWHILE

From the stands, a round-bodied man and a thinner woman hop down from the stands, the man dressed like a battlefield doctor and the woman wearing a pink nurse's uniform. The pair trot across the ruined arena field, soon joined by a boy carrying a black medical bag marked with red crosses. As per usual, the Mankanshoku Family takes care of its own!
