Death Awaits You
Date of Scene: 16 November 2015
Location: Alberichstadt <P:WTWM>
Synopsis: Travellers venture into the Forest of Mirrors to investigate the reflection of another Persona user.
Cast of Characters: Kotone Yamakawa, Ayako Hasekawa, 642, 852, 877, August Kohler, 901, 908, Janine Liberi

Janine Liberi has posed:
The tale of the Countess Who Sang To The Stars had come to an end, thanks to the efforts of the Tin Solider, the Sword Bride and Travellers From Beyond The Realm. The news that some Jester seemed to have lured Alexis into the Forest of Mirrors remains truly worrisome, however.

For if it were that risking said Forest was only caused by accepting the Woodcutter's Challenge, there was little to fret over. The Persona Game, like all school rumours, would eventually blow over, replaced by some juicy gossip or minor scandal that would be grossly overblown. Until then, those who knew of the Forest would only have to stay vigilant. But the idea that Agents Of The Forest could lure in those outside of it, none would ever truly be safe.

Speaking of the Persona Game and the Woodcutter's Challenge, only the Tin Solider and the Sword Bride had come forward as survivors thus far. Were they really the only ones with the guile to best themselves, escape death and impress the Woodcutter? Were recent disappearances slaughtered by their Reflections, or come to their final resting place in the Wolf's belly?

Or had other survivors simply not come forward?

The Shadows seemed restless within the mirrors tonight. The glassy leaves of the trees rattle and clink, shaken by an uneasy gale. Flower petals swirl about in it, glinting and shimmering in a way very much unlike how they should. And every now and again, there is a humanoid figure striding among the glassy roots and bushes, too slim and slight to be the Woodcutter. A sabre of shining silver is clutched in their right hand, and something tall is floating behind them.

There are no recent disappearances, no sense of foreboding that foretold the Countess. However, this is no doubt something worth investigating. Another call put out by the Tin Solider and the Sword Bride, another expedition into the Forest launched from the Library.

There is no Pig to greet them today, for Pigs go where their nose leads them, and clearly that where is not here today. Fortuitously, its Piggish services would not be required on this day, as the Travellers' trail is already marked.

Upon the ground is a trail of rose petals, scattered and shining, winding into the Forest. Those with eyes as keen as the Hawk, or noses as sharp as the Foxhound may notice something else marking the path, soaked into the glassy earth. Droplets of blood.

The Darkness had been there to greet them during their last visit, its gaze upon them as it offered gentle luring whispers. But today, it may be distracted, looking elsewhere.

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
Gudako's presence is coincidental today too; she had decided to come back, having nothing else to do, and as is usual wore a charm of good luck (ranked anywhere between A and EX, so hello convenient coincidences) courtesy of her Caster when going anywhere. That meant she ended up at the right place at the right time, ever being where she has no business going.

And how even more convenient that Gudako is accompanied by a fox-- well, two, but of the two only one is currently materialized. The pink-haired, blue-robed Caster with fox ears and a big poofy tail has taken the lead, following the scent of blood and rose petals while Gudako whistles loudly, following behind without a care in the world.

Even if the Darkness chooses not to watch today, at least it can always count on the magus' presence. Strange and stranger people have walked the Mirror Forest, but likely few as close to being a Shadow without actually being one as Gudako. Or so the narrator assumes, maybe wrongly!

Either way, wanderers are stuck with the teen and one of her foxes today again. No doubt to Hoshi's great displeasure!

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
The Sword Bride hadn't been doing much with said sword recently. After the hectic couple of weeks thus far, she hadn't been as eager to throw herself into any potential dangers--not with the tests that were coming, anyway. Thus she'd gone home almost as soon as school let out, and was spending her nights in her room desperately studying.

But there was something that was nagging Hoshi today, that dragged her attention away from her homework, to the free-standing mirror she'd covered when all this started. Tried as she might to stop getting distracted, nothing would work. Eventually, with a groan, she stood up, went to the mirror, and threw the blanket off--only to see what looked like... someone? It's hard to tell in the dark and gloom. Yet she sees the bright flash of a sword, as well as the larger figure behind her. Is it possible?...

It takes her a moment to get thoughts through her brain, but she whirls around and grabs her bluetooth headset and crams it into her ear, keying into the Union's channels. "Uh... H-hey, Kohler, are you looking into a mirror right now?" She tries to get a closer look into the mirror, but the vision was gone, leaving her mirror only slightly stained by darkness. "I think I just saw someone in the mirror. Someone's in there right now, we need to help them!"

Escaping the house with her gear was thankfully a lot easier now--all she had to do was mention 'The Union' and her parents relented. Thus she ran through the quickly-darkening streets of Alberichstadt, until she came to the Public Library.

Once there, it was a quick trip to the bathroom to get changed in her armor, her transforming sword in it's hairtie form in her hand. Idly she bounced it until some familiar faces came along. "There's someone inside right now. We should move as quickly as we can." True to her words, she's in the back room's mirror as soon as it's clear that people will be coming. Coming into the clearing, Hoshi wills her sword to grow. The sheathe goes in her gi belt while she holds the actual sword.

Just as she was about to start looking over the trail, Hoshi catches sight of Gudako again, and her face twists slightly in distaste. "You must really like being in dangerous places, Miss. Why are you here again?"

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
Someone in distress, again. The strange Mirror Forest is an unwelcome sight for the Prince of Ramuh, a place that sets him ill at ease every time he enters. The glass trees and strange pale grass remind him that this is a fundamentally unfundamental place, a place where all that HE knows and HE understands is totally meaningless. It's like standing on sand, on ice - slippery, with uncertain footing. His ancestors would probably be ashamed of him to be so casually taken off-balance by weird scenery, especially when someone is in danger, and it's that thought that keeps the Prince of Ramuh going back - the thought of his ancestors being displeased with him.

Landon doesn't understand how Gudako can whistle in this place. He wished he had his armor. It would at least make him feel a little bit more comfortable. But coming to a place like Alberichstadt in armor was...well, he just couldn't. He had to look like an ordinary person for all the world, in order to avoid drawing attention, which was odd, because walking around without armor was so /unusual/ for him in *his* world...

     Well, that didn't really matter.

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
Jeanne d'Arc had been hanging around the Alberichstadt area anyways, thanks to a interesting encounter with Hoshi and practicing writing and reading things that made her tongue tie itself in knots. Thanks, Japanese! As such, she was cheerfully in the area when Hoshi called out on the Union channels, and trotted her way over to the library.

As a Servant, she can just summon up her armored dress, sword, and standard, so she doesn't really worry much about just lounging around in a dress., It's a neat trick, after all. That done, once they're in the Mirrored Forest proper, she does change, standard in her gloved hand.

"I hope whoever it is is okay."

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
The Puppet Woman had been though a lot as of late, while things were getting better the future of her world was uncertain. Her cousin had been saved her mind made whole again and yet? This was something different yet here she was, she'd come back to check. She'd needed to not think of how her cousin had nearly become a puppet who had no sense of her own idenity and yet she's come to see something was strange here in Germany so once more she moved into the mirror and found herself in the forest once more. She was also not alone either, but the Pig was not here too day. Gudau was here Hoshi was and Landon as well.

"It seems like I'm not the only one who noticed things, well I'm here to help, Hoshi.:

Then Jeanne arrives as well.

Linne (877) has posed:
Following her fellow Confederate (and her foxes!) is a maid. She serenely cane-taps her way along. She takes a deep sniff of the air and listens to the sounds of the Mirror Forest. It's strange to the maid. She'd never thought of a forest within a mirror, but that's becoming par for the course over the past few weeks. The Multiverse is ever odd.

With others arriving, Linne dips into a deep curtsey.

"Good evening. My, this /is/ a very odd place, is it not?" She offers politely to the others.

"Linne K. Park, fellow travelers. It is a pleasure."

Hoshi does get Linne's attention, however. Clutching her cane a little tighter, she moves to hover defensively near her, playing the bodyguard for tonight.

"Surely this is no time for altercations, hmm, Miss?" A nod to Jeanne's words in emphasis.

August Kohler has posed:
August cheated. He had been staying after school to speak to his teacher about an assignment, when he headed to the bathroom. And then he saw it, in the mirror. Someone's in there. Grabbing his bag, he'd wait to make sure no one was around, before he'd climb onto the bathroom sink and into the mirror, bridging from our world into that of the Mirror Forest.

As he stepped through, it was a matter of pathing to the others. Not too incredibly difficult, though he was a bit ways away. As Hoshi spoke into the radio, he smirked and replied. "In a way. I'll meet you in the clearing."

It'd take about five minutes for August to catch up with the others, where he'd immediately sneer at Gudako before turning to Hoshi. "This isn't like Alexis. Could it be a Wolf challenge?" He shuddered briefly, before shaking his head. "Let's hope not." Turning to Linne, he bows his head. "Kohler. It's a pleasure, Miss Park." He analyzes her, trying to figure out exactly what powers she might have to had get in here, but, he'll probably learn that later.

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako is here! After all, she heard the call for help on the Union Radio. And so she enters the Mirror Forest just behind Landon. This world's atmosphere, the strangeness, and... there's just something about this place that seems familiar to her. But anyway...

Despite the odd atmosphere, she waves hello cheerfully and greets the others she knows as they arrive. "If someone's in trouble... let's go help them!"

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
"Hiiiii!" Gudako waves, to Hoshi, to Landon, to August, unfazed by the obvious sneers and questions. Instead she turns to look at Linne, nodding with energy, mouth wide open into her usual 8D. "I know right? This place is great! I should call it an attraction and sell tickets outside, I bet that'd actually be really cool to watch."

Well, for someone like her, it would be.
For the poor victims, probably not.

"Caaaaster, any headway?" she asks her Servant.
"The blood scent keeps going this way, master~!"
"Where there's blood there's entertainment! Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to fun we go!" She resumes whistling, continuing to lead with her personal foxgirl Servant if nobody else really wants to take the lead. She never did answer Hoshi! At least, not directly.

Janine Liberi has posed:
The Sword Bride and the Tin Solider stand once more in the cool of the trees, having summoned allies from realms beyond. The Playful Fox returns again, treating the whole affair in her usual lackadaisical manner. Her companions may note that the blood spilled upon the trail smells unusual. It may not be human blood at all.

Also making their return is the Judging Prince, fear weighing him down, but honour driving him onward regardless. The Saint also comes once again, her nature rendering her more prepared than the Prince, banner raised to inspire and guide her fellows. Though her heart is full of worry on other matters, The Puppet Woman also make a return, always eager to lend a hand. The Woman Who Is Water is the final returnee, head full of familiarity and heart full of mercy as boundless as the sea.

But all tales must expand its cast sooner or later. The Heavy Metal Maid joins The Playful Fox, her factional companion. Though they and the others are on opposing sides of a great war, there is no need to butt heads on this day.

The trail is easily followed. Whomever was trailing petals and blood clearly was not trying to hide their tracks. This may go contrary to The Tin Solider's theory that someone is making unmerry with the Wolf. For surely, they would not run about in the open when Death Itself is following. Furthermore, some may note the slight scratches in the glassy bark of the trees. They do not mind, for it was clearly a slight blade, and not a hefty axe that left said marks. Whomever did this may have been making a trail to follow back.

The Darkness finally takes note of their presence, for though some areas are always Darker than others, it is all-pervasive and inescapable. Its gaze falls upon them, but it holds its tongue. Still distracted by whomever else is within the Forest perchance?

After only a brief spell of Following, rhythmic sounds echo from among the trees, the source ahead. The *clang* of metal upon metal, the *tuptup* of fast footwork upon the loamy earth, all accompanied by the ragged breathing of a tired girl. The petals upon the ground becoming ever-thicker, their sweet, sickly scent filling the air.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
The Puppet Woman kneels down to get a better look at the blood and she raises her head after a moment. 5R
"Someon'es got started before us." 5R
she notes fto the group which has got pretty large already. Kotone makes sure she's not going to get left behind as being alone here does not sound a good idea yet she hears the sounds og a fight and she breaks into a run trying to follow the sound of fighting.

"We shouldn't delay!"

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako blinks her eyes as she notes the trailing petals... and particularly the blood. "That..." She just shakes her head. A trail of blood isn't exactly a nice thing to follow. And quietly, she keeps track of how much blood is on the ground. "I hope... whoever is leaving this... is okay."

And then she looks up at the sound of metal on metal. And the sound of ragged breathing. "What... what's going on?" Ayako glances about quickly and notes the petals on the ground. Something's going on, and she doesn't like it!

Her gaze turns towards Landon quickly. He's probably the person most uncomfortable right now since he's usually in armor, so... "Landon, here!" Ayako smiles brightly and thrusts her palms towards him. "Ice Shield!" And a multi-faceted plate of ice forms floating in front of his shield arm! It stays oriented in relation to his arm as well. Past that though, she steps back. After all, if someone's chasing someone, it could very easily choose to chase her instead!

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
Landon does not say anything to Gudako. This is less out of a desire to ignore her, because that's basically impossible, and more because *what can you say to that*!? Anyone who can think this place is fun is clearly some kind of lunatic! His mouth just sort of...well, it would be hanging agape, were he not a well-kept nobleman, but he is, so it's not.

Ayako casts Ice Shield on him. An Ice Shield spreads over his hand, which is fine, because he's ambidextrous and it means he doesn't need to burn magic for this. He gives Ayako a smile. "Thank you, my lady. It's greatly appreciated." That was something he COULD get his head around! Something NORMAL! He tilts his head at the water spirit, then turns and takes the lead, like usual. This is less out of a desire to lead, and more because he's a tank, a trained tank, and tanking is what he does and is best at.

Kotone and Ayako both mention the sound of fighting. Landon breaks into a run, the Judge Blade exploding into existence in his free hand with a beautiful blue light that temporarily illuminates the area (because the entire place is like a giant disco ball).

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
Jeanne lingers in the back. She remembers last time how the arrangement was, so she picks up the trail of the group just in case anything comes from behind. The Saint is noticably silent, however, a frown on her face as she glances at the trail for awhile, trying to judge how long she's been in there.

Linne (877) has posed:
"Ah, good, a gentleman! Let us all work together, Mister Kohler." Comes Linne warmly to the young man. There's nothing too immediately odd about her: A refined looking woman edging into her thirties, and with the way she taps about, she's obviously blind. Still, she moves with confidence and grace, and a flash or two at the wrists might speak to some athleticism.

There may be a slight feeling about her, though, should Persona users be anything like Stand users in that mystical regard.

She taps her chin.

"Tickets? A rather...brutal form of entertainment, but certainly profitable." She admits, even as she follows along.

For now, it's time to follow the trail provided. It's easy enough to follow by scent, and she'll stay close to her charge. She only increases her pace as the sounds grow louder.

"That must be the one lost here!"

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
For a moment, Hoshi's expression becomes stony as she's explicitly ignored yet again. This girl... Is she actively trying to push Hoshi's buttons? For a second, she considers responding in kind--but realizes it wouldn't do much. Instead, Linne gets Hoshi's attention, her lips stretched into a thin line. "I'm Amakasu Hoshi, Ms. Linne. This place is very dangerous, and you and your friend should both leave right now. Of course, you won't." She'd learned that pretty well thus far.

Eventually they started making their way down the path of blood and rose petals. Hoshi tried to keep in front as best she could, a scowl set in her face as she heard Gudako and Linne chatting along. "What you'll be /doing/ is not having people come in here. This isn't a freaking game." That was when they started hearing familiar sounds. Hoshi knew them--someone with a sword was fighting. "Just ahead! Everyone, keep a close eye out. We can't get surrounded." With that, she took off at Landon's side, her sword tight in her grip as she prepared to unleash Rosamond again.

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
"Well, who knows, right? Brutal? Game? Ah, ah, isn't it most fiction that tries to argue it's through a crucible of fire that heroes are forged? If I start dumping people in here, do you think maybe eventually one of them will rise to the challenge and become a hero? Oh my god! How cool would that be? I'd have created a hero!" Never leave Gudako in charge of your world. And that's how she argues with both Linne and Hoshi in one stroke.

As the scent of blood thickens and sounds of battle become obvious, the magus continues pressing on-- or rather, her Servant does, following the trails of petals and smells with her master not far behind.

"Well, maybe we can debate bloodsports and heroic survivors another time, I think we're not far from whatever! Hm, that's odd, how quiet the Saber is! Saber, Saber, are you alright out there in the back? No thoughts to share~?"

August Kohler has posed:
"Sounds like the monsters. And a girl...get ready for combat!" August tries to ignore Gudako, but turns towards her in disgust at the end of her spiel. "Not a chance. Keep your disgusting ideas far away from our world." He grimaces, before running forward across the path towards the girl. The spoon twirls in his hand as he tosses it up, exploding into blue energy. "Persona!" The Tin Soldier appears, but does not attack. It moves alongside August, waiting for the first enemy to incinera- I mean shoot. Because fire is bad, right?

Janine Liberi has posed:
The sound of battle rings out, so the Travellers make their preparations and draw up their plans. The Puppet Woman simply charges towards the sound of battle, as the Judging Prince conjures his mighty blade, shining the light of Law upon the Chaotic forest. However, he is defenceless, so the Woman Who Is Water bestows upon him a might shield of ice to weather blows with.

The Saint is cautious, and so hangs back. Her examination of the bloody trail reveals that here, the blood is quite fresh, not yet entirely soaked into the soil. Meanwhile, the Playful Fox and the Heavy Metal Maid discuss matters of brutality with concerning informality, for they are of a faction that holds that 'might makes right.'

However, the Tin Soldier and the Sword Bride, as natives of this realm, are here to tell them to cease such cruel prattle as they to rush towards the source of conflict.

They stand in a circular clearing, in which four Shadows stand. They are the most ridiculous caricatures of the foppish fencer archetype. Tiny legs supporting an overstuffed shirt with puffy shoulders and a ludicrously wide white ruffled collar. Clutched in their sausagelike fingers are an epee, the blade held vertically before their chest, and a parrying dagger held more loosely to their side.

Their opponent? A girl around the age of the Tin Soldier and the Sword Bride. She clutches a sabre in her right hand, for her left is swaddled in bandages and supported by a sling. A gash on her forehead has blood gushing down her face and matting her lanky hair further, but she still fights, parrying the thrusts, lunges, flicks and remise of the Shadows, the constant attacks preventing her from mounting a counteroffensive.

The arrival of the Travellers draws her eye, and this permits a Shadow to lock blades with her, ripping the sabre from her hand with a skilful flick of the wrist. It spins throughout the air, reflecting the light of the Judging Prince's blade to land before them.

"You here to help or gawk?" the Girl demands, leaping to the side to avoid another thrust.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa keeps with Landon and ayako move in she keeps with them she's quite better fighting as a team and she knows it. her SMG is loaded and ready.

"It doe we nee to move in."

Kotone makes ready to cloak as she goes. She knows there could be trouble here she doesn't move to enage just yet, she does see the shadowss and moves in to attack she'll fire off a burst at one of the shadows as the Puppet Woman calls out.

"Help."

She lets lose anotehr burst trying to make an opening for Landon to get in close so he can put his blade to work.

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako keeps up with Landon, staying just behind him. However, when she sees the four Shadows, she can't help but pause. "What..." After all, Shadows tend to look like some sort of violent modern art sculpture with odd masks that... move-and not always in 'sensible' ways. Next on the list of things to notice is the epees and parrying daggers the four Shadows are holding. Eep. They are armed!

"Here to help, of course!" Ayako quickly flings a ball of purple healing water towards the girl. "Healing Water!"

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
Landon actually doesn't need to get close to use the Judge Blade. He simply throws his hand out as he skids to a halt. The Judge Blade goes flying out of his hand as if fired by a cannon - albeit a cannon under his perfect control, telekinetically shooting forward. Landon himself follows right behind it, thrusting the ice shield into the path of a Shadow attack for the person who looks most defenseless this round. The Shadow's blade stabs against the ice, cracking pieces of the shield off and forcing Landon backwards.

     "Blasted monsters!"

The Judge Blade stops on a dime, inverts itself, and goes shooting back towards Landon blade-first. He'll catch it...after it back-attacks a Shadow on the way. It's like a boomerang, if boomerangs were giant, unwieldy crystal magic Law swords.

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
Breaking through to the battlefield, Hoshi was taken aback by the number of Shadows here. She hadn't seen them gathered like that before! How had this girl held them off in the first place? The wound over her eyes made it clear that she hadn't managed to do it unharmed. But, that's why the cavalry was here. "We're here to help!" She spared a moment to dig her locket from under her gi and snap it open. "C'mon, Rosamond!"

The large cloaked woman in the muddied wedding dress appears next to Hoshi as soon as she calls, brandishing her sword threateningly at the Shadows and their silly, thin weapons. The Persona's broadsword flicks out, apparently aiming to smash through the guard of one of the Shadows and drive it back, if not cut it in half entirely from the get go. "Watch behind us! Make sure we don't get surrounded by more!"

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
    "Master, look! Fighters!" Caster exclaims.
"I can see them! The shadowy ones are cool." Gudako says.
Caster produces a set of paper talismans and ofuda, but Gudako reaches forever and with her arm nudges her back a bit. "No, no, not yet Caster! We have to find out what she's here for! What she fights for! Who those bad guys are. Dialogue is best done in battle, when everyone's all worked up!"

    Gudako... actually does something!

She fingerguns towards the fighter and the four Shadows. There's a brief, weak surge of mana, as the magus casts a spell! Two spells, actually. DEFENSE UP and ATTACK UP, finger gunned like bullets towards the mysterious fighter!

Ah, how unfortunate, a Shadow used the moment of distraction to get in the way. The Shadow actively threatening the mysterious girl benefits from ATTACK UP and DEFENSE UP!

    Gudako is still going 8D.
"Aww, I missed. That's too bad. I really need to work on that."

Well, if anyone were skilled with sensing and identifying magic, they'd know she's not lying about her magecraft being really, really third-rate, so her missing isn't totally implausible.

August Kohler has posed:
As the enemies come in view, August uses the Tin Soldier's power to boost the girl's strength, allowing her to strike much harder than before. And then, with a thrust of his own hand, the Tin Soldier charges forward, bullets streaming from its rifle-leg. It moves in a stream, attempting to hit all of them, firing so carefully as to not hit anyone else. "Tell me if you want me to break out the fire!"

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
"I'm fine." Saber replies.

The instant that the fight is announced, she reaches for her blade, withdrawing it before she immediately heads for the newcomer, ignoring Gudako as best as she possibly can. Which is easy enough - it's easy to forget things in battle. She is well prepared to drop some magic resistance if she needs it, but for right now, they are sword buddies. Yay! Jeanne is at least decent with a sword too, even if she barely uses it.

Linne (877) has posed:
The Fighter is noted, but given the chaos and ongoing fight with the Shadows, there's little time for banter. But Linne's steps are taken off guard. August is the source, eyes wide as she feels something...familiar.

Could he be a fellow Stand user? And with those creatures there, she too can't afford to hold back. Not when her temporary employer (Gudako for the night!) is assisting her.

She focuses her inner self, and she leaps towards one of the Shadows. A booted heel smashes downwards, turning to heavy iron as she seeks to smash it under foot. Then, a large figure emerges from the girl. It's a thin metallic caricature of a maid, all gunmetal grey and with pointed spikes on its shoulders, head, and back of its wrists. Two thin, bladed hands reach down to capture the creature she's smashed down upon.

"IRON MAIDEN!"

Then, the strange Stand will begin to exert it's influence if it touches the creature, attempting to turn it into a solid black of cold, dead copper.

Janine Liberi has posed:
The battle is joined! The Puppet Woman and the Tin Soldier take advantage of their ranged capabilities, firing into the thick of the Shadows. Shots slam into their stuffed shirts and sends shadowstuff splattering. One of them topples backwards, landing on its back, little legs flailing as it struggles to find its footing.

The Heavy Metal Maid drops down upon it, impacting hard on its chest, before calling forth The One Who Stands Beside Her. The creeping dullness of copper spreads across its form, rendering it a dead statue upon the ground.

Another Shadow was pursuing the Girl, aiming to run her through. It would have been a rousing success, had the Judging Prince not intervened with that shield. The Girl has no thanks to offer, only continuing her movement towards her prone sabre. The Shadow before the Prince goes to stab around the shield with its dagger, but the spinning Judge Blade lops of that whole arm on its return journey.

As the Girl picks up her blade, having reached it in record time thanks to the aid of the Tin Solider, the Woman Who Is Water pelts her with her tincture. Again, no thanks, but only ire. "Blinding me is real helpful, thanks," she says, rubbing at her eyes with her sleeve. She has yet to notice the gash sealing itself, keeping her lifeblood inside. She offers a look to the Saint and says, "They got lucky. I don't need protecting."

The Sword Bride engages the third Shadow, the one not 'accidentally' empowered by the Playful Fox. Her mighty blade calls for both epee and dagger to be used to even stand a chance of blocking. But, once again, such small legs are a disadvantage, the sheer might being enough to make the Shadow topple backwards. That is now two down.

The fourth uses its new empowerment in an unusual way. These Shadows seemed surprisingly sensible in form until now, but that is no longer the case. Its barrel-shaped torso unfolds upwards spiralling into the air while its arms do the same, lengthening its reach. Said arms then begin to flail, slashing all about the clearing at the Travellers and the Girl.

Said Girl ducks behind a tree to avoid the flurry and peers into the reflection cast by her sabre. With a steeling breath, she utters but a single word.

    "Persona."

Rising from her form in a flash is the image of a woman who would surely be beautiful, were it not for the bandages that hide everything above her mouth, matted with blood around the eyes. Flowing ebony locks are speckled with jewels of all colors, and her dress brings to mind a blooming rose, vivid reds inset with twisting, thorny greens. However, the ends of the sleeves are tired into bloody knots at a length that suggests a lack of hands.

She raises those knots into the air, flecks of blood dripping from it as a wind blows through the clearing. Those flecks become flowers, petals swirling through the air as the sweet scent of rot fills the air once more. The remaining three Shadows seem afflicted suddenly with a bout of lethargy, the crazed slashing slowing, attacks becoming clumsy.

"Finish 'em off," is all the Girl has to say.

August Kohler has posed:
Who constantly makes bad decisions? August Kohler! This time, folks, he's going to use fire despite how badly that often goes for him! With a dash of his hand, the Tin Soldier's bullets are replaced with flame, as he dances around, streams of fire hitting the Shadows, as well as himself, slightly. It really really HURTS, but this time, he's not completely engorged! Though, August does wobble. "Most holy, please avert your eyes." August motions to Jeanne, since he knows she has issues with fire.

And then, he turns to the Girl. "Another Persona user...are you alright? Do you need help getting back through the mirror?" He doesn't quite recognize her, but could she be a Drachenblatt student?

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
    "M-Master!" Caster shouts.

Her ofuda are hurled, and brilliant arcs of blue and green lightning link them together in a square around Gudako, Caster, and whoever else has remained in the back row. The protective field dampens the incoming hits-- not nullifying them outright, but at least making them just a nudge less deadly. A cut on the master's shoulder, a small tear in Caster's robes. It's better than losing a limb or two.

It seems the pain doesn't bother Gudako at all though. Red stains her white shirt, but she just keeps smiling wide. "Aaaah, it hit. Not bad. Or are you slacking, Caster?"
"I'm not slacking! I'll join the attack, just stand--"
"Nope, you wasted your chance to be useful," Gudako counters.
She pokes her wound, healing it.

"Let's see how those guys solve the problem instead! Persona, what a weird name. It must be those cool things they summon! Like Servants, except not at all. How weird."

Well, neither Gudako nor Caster do anything.
Though the master certainly watches the battle intently.

Linne (877) has posed:
Well, despite how rude the girl seems, she can't exactly say that leaving the creatures alive is acceptable. But, August beats her to the punch!

"Ah! Mister August, be careful! Do not let your...Persona harm you!" She wishes she had a rug right now to beat the flames out with, but for the moment, she leaps in front of Gudako just in case fire comes her way!

Rather than approach herself, she lets Iron Maiden do the work, the Stand doing a graceful spinning dance, right before smashing her strong hands into a tree. Half of the tree ends up as splinters that swiftly turn to metal with every blurring touch aimed for the hopefully ON FIRE Shadow. Then the Stand bops the other end of the tree, and attempts to suddenly have a massive iron-tree fall upon and crush a shadow or two!

Landon al Cid (642) has posed:
The next strike digs into Landon's shield again, wedging its way through the ice - because even *magic* ice is just *ice*. Were it not floating apart from him, Landon would have been stabbed pretty cleanly. Fortunately, it's magic, so...that's that.

The next strike finishes off the shield. The Shadow bears down on him, daggers flashing. One of the daggers cuts across his face, drawing blood. Another goes for his arm, slicing through his school uniform. Landon tosses the Judge Blade away, moving it with his thoughts as he tries to defend himself with his arms. Another stab, and the blade manages to wedge itself into his forearm, drawing a spray of blood. It's probably satisfying.

Landon's feet snap upwards. He presses both feet against the Shadow and pushes, *hard*, to send the Shadow flying upwards. Then he rolls over, covering his head just as -

     ah, there it is.

Fire sweeps over Landon, just above him. The Judge Blade hovers at an angle, diverting what flames might have struck him up into the Shadow he just threw into the air. The knife stuck in his arm, the cut on his face, and the sliced-up uniform are a small problem at the moment, but being on fire would be a much bigger one.

As the fire burns, Landon attempts to work the blade out of his arm. Eventually, he does so. He rolls over and sits up, slicing a chunk of his uniform off to wrap around his arm and bind the wound.

Then he rolls away from another gout of flame, snatching up the Judge Blade. He rolls just in time, as an iron tree comes falling out of nowhere into the fire. Landon gets to his feet, leaning on the Judge Blade, and exhales sharply.

     Damn.

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
Jeanne gives the Girl a dry look.

August then speaks up and Jeanne turns and meanders away towards Hoshi, who is quickly becoming the sane member of the Persona-users and Jeanne's very best friend. The poor girl is used as a focus to keep Jeanne from falling apar.t

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
For a moment, Hoshi just has to feel grateful. Even if she didn't entirely trust the company they had, she knew at least they could hold their own. She hadn't seen Gudako cast her spell, but she saw one of them suddenly becoming superpowered! Since when did that happen? "Be careful! Don't let it hit you!" And of course, just as she says that a section of the thing nearly manages to make contact, just barely deflected by Hoshi's sword. However, it was more important to make sure the enemy she engaged was gone, before it did anything similar.

Rosamond immediately capitalized upon the Shadow's compromised position, her foot slamming down on the creature's 'neck', follwed by her sword plunging into it's torso. She's about to draw her sword and go for another opponent, but the attention of both Hoshi and her Persona are caught by the sight of Linne's Iron Maiden. Hoshi's eyes go wide as a scowl comes to Rosamond's usually placid lips.

She manages to snap out of it with a rough shake of her head, and is about to join into the fight--only to see August pulling his classic move. "Agh! You idiot!" She's going to hit him. Hit him so hard. At least now most of the creatures were dead, so she's able to turn around to offer Jeanne a worried smile and an awkward pat on her shoulder. Rosamond slowly fades away, but her hooded eyes remain locked on the Iron Maiden until she is completely gone. "Ah... Thank you for coming again, Jeanne."

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
"It's a healing water! Not a blinding water!" Ayako puffs her cheeks out in a pout and then eeps as the strengthened Shadow suddenly changes into a twirling blender of limbs and blades!

Ayako freezes for a moment before noting the protective field that Gudako's Caster put up. Her palms thrust downward towards the ground and she reinforces the protection magic with her own!

It's still not enough to stop that whirlling Shadow through, and she gets qutie a few cuts. Ayako winces slightly and uses her hands to smooth the cuts in her body and clothing away.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa is pressing her ranged ability as she hates to get in up close when she has a choice about it. The Puppet woman is keeping tabs on he allies and htier movement she pauses t the girl not sure what ot think of her reaction to them but she'll worry about the fighting. It seems to be about over or maybe not. The fire comes and she gets the heck out of the way and she looks over as the battle seems to be finisheed. She's long learne dto not fight up close when the Toy Soldier starts throwing flames about. She's been playing keep away and attemps to get off another shot at the shadows that's going after Ayako.

Janine Liberi has posed:
Clensing flames issue forth from the Tin Solider, filling the clearing with heat and smoke. All remaining Shadows are lit aflame, pressing on in spite of it, though their attacks become clumsier still.

The Heavy Metal Maid makes wondrous use of her environments, though probably making a frightful mess as she uproots a glass tree, permits The One Who Stands Beside Her to transform it into a more effective bludgeon. It falls, landing upon the unravelled Shadow, causing it to topple and become pinned to the ground by its weight. The Puppet Woman is then easily able to pick it off safely.

The Judging Prince is at something of a disadvantage, but his gambit is a skilful one. The redirected flame causes the Shadow to be consumed entirely, weapons clattering to the ground before dissolving away along with their wielder.

The final Shadow is under the boot of the Sword Bride, a stern blade put through it. The battle is ended, with only smouldering flames, a copper statue and an uprooted tree as the only evidence it ever happened at all. The Girl emerges from behind her own tree, now covered in gouges. But again, it does not mind, for it was only a slight blade or two.

She looks to The Woman Who Is Water for a moment, adjusting the grip on her sabre to reach up and poke at the point where her cut was. Realizing there is now nothing, she offers a slight nod. Looking to the Tin Soldier, her gaze is filled with a tired apathy. "I left a trail, I'll be fine."

And now, she goes to retrieve something abandoned. Stabbing her blade into the earth, she picks up a sheath with what looks to be a terribly costly cream scarf wrapped around it to serve as a sash. She hangs it from her right shoulder, the scarf crossing her chest and the sheath hanging around the back of her waist.

Only now, does she look at the Travellers. "What the hell are you all doing here?"

August Kohler has posed:
"What? Is that all you have to say, really?" As the Tin Soldier dematerializes, August frowns at Janine, stepping up to her. "I assume for exactly the same reason as you: to deal with this Forest. We saw you in here and came to help. We're Persona Users too, after all; plus some others." He analyzes her, trying to see how she feels, as he glances over at the shadow parts, moving to lift the copper statue. "Amakasu. We should bring this to Igor, see if he can do anything with it. Maybe we can learn more about the Shadows from it?" As he does this, he turns back to Janine. "Name's Kohler. August Kohler. 11th year at Drachenblatt. I assume you're a student as well?"

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako continues to smooth away the cuts on her body. Vain water spirit, she is. Once she's satisfied, she looks back towards the fight, and whews softly once the last of the Shadows is defeated. "Those were... strange-looking things. Not nice, not something I would want to meet alone! Just... strange."

She smiles cheerfully once The Girl offers her a slight nod. After all, Ayako's not the type to press for recognition, and is happy with just that small gesture.

"We're here to help! That is, help make sure no one dies in here!" Ayako waves hello in her usual cheerful fashion. "I'm Ayako Hasekawa, a water spirit! Please call me Ayako!" She pauses for a moment and glances upwards in thought. "If anyone's wants me to tend to any injuries, please let me know. It's just what I do." A soft smile follows.

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
With the last of the enemies down, smoke and fire fading from the air, Hoshi gives Jeanne a (hopefully) encouraging smile. "And it's done. Let's get everyone together and get ready to head out, huh?"

That done, she starts making her way over to the girl they'd found. "We came here because we saw you in the mirror. Apparently whatever rules this place wasn't very fond of you being here." Slowly she looks around the forest trapped in dusk. "Get the introductions done quick. We should probably leave." She offers a small bow to the girl. "I'm Amakasu Hoshi, third year at Drachenblatt. I got to say--you have some guts, forging this far in by yourself."

August's suggestion makes Hoshi nod quickly. "Good idea. I'd like to know at least a little bit about this stuff..." Carefully sheathing her sword, she goes to the bits and pieces of the Shadows that were left, grimacing at the feeling of them on her skin. "Gaaah... I really hope we get /something/, at least."

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
Hoshi gets a polite thumbs up from Jeanne.

"She's teaching me Japanese." Is Jeanne's somewhat snarky response to question 'why are you here.'

Linne (877) has posed:
August takes the words right out of Linne's mouth. She /does/ however level a deeply annoyed frown. She's /judging/ Janine right now.

"My, my. Mister Kohler, please continue to serve as an example to your peers." Janine doesn't even get a direct insult from the offended maid.

The mention of Igor definitely has her attention. A craftsman of some sort, perhaps?

"The others have covered the matter adequately, I think as to our presence. As I said, I am Linne K. Park, maidservant and bodyguard to the Noble House of Tres. It is...very rare to meet so many with our peculiar companions. Particularly in ones so young."

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa lowers her weapon, she makes sure there are no remaining shadows then uses it's straps to sling it back over her shoulder. She's been able to pick off a shadow or tonight it was good work buyt the new girl? Janine is looked over now to get a better idea of Janine.

"What are we doing here? We were wondering the same about you. Yet as August said? We came to help when we were aware something was up here."

she looks over to Ayako ith a grin, the Water Elemental has proven her self long ago to Kotone and she's always happy when she shows up on a crawl like this.

"Sounds like an idea Hoshi lets get moving.

"Just be careful with the remains we don't know how they will effect someone."

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
Gudako mentally takes notes. Persona, Shadows. Igor. Drachenblatt. You couldn't tell with her empty smile and expression but she does a brain behind those eyes, sometimes.

"Oh! I'm Gudako Ordria. And this is Caster!" she motions at her Servant, the pink-haired foxgirl in blue robes, who takes a quick elegant bow in greeting.

"As for why I'm here! I was bored. And this maid wanted to see somewhere cool, and this place immediatly came to mind! I mean, it's a forect of glass and mirror, you don't see that out in the wild. What about you, totally mysterious girl?"

Janine Liberi has posed:
"That's all I've got to say. What, you wouldn't have rushed in if you knew I wouldn't say 'thanks?'" the Girl asks the Tin Soldier. Now that she is speaking, the Travellers could hear the Italian accent that tinges her words. Now that she has her sheath, she pulls up her sabre and wipes the dirt off on the hem of her dress before sheathing it.

"No actually. Came here for a picnic, but a bear stole my basket," she retorts, before giving a real answer. "I don't want to 'deal' with this Forest. But people might wander in like I did, so I patrol to pull anyone out."

When the Soldier mentions Igor, the Girl's eyes narrow slightly. "You know Igor?" Her right index finger is raised to her nose, pointing out to mimic the strange man's prominent proboscis in a questioning way. But her eyes fall to the Woman Who Is Water once more. "Given how many people have been disappearing, you've been doing a great job so far," is all she says. As for the Saint's less-than-saintly response, the Girl fires right back. "Isn't Japan really honour-obsessed? Hanging back while letting kids fight monsters doesn't sound very honourable."

The Travellers are a polite sort though, all introducing themselves, so the Girl does the same in a deeply unenthusiastic way. "Janine Liberi," is all she says. The manners of the Sword Bride and the Heavy Metal Maid draw a reaction from her however. Her right hand drifts down to grasp at her skirts, and she dips into the best curtsy she can muster. It's all done in a vaguely sardonic manner, but it's clearly practiced. A Girl of good breeding, clearly.

But that name may ring a bell in the Bride and the Solider. A 'Janine Liberi' frequently came up in all discussions relating to the Drachenblatt fencing club. But all that stopped a few months ago.

The Playful Fox makes her introduction, Janine staring hard at her. She had seen the 'misfiring,' and such casual talk was at odds with everyone else. "People at school keep disappearing, I thought they were coming here like I did. A lot of them are jerk-offs, but even jerk-offs have family that would miss them, so..." She half-shrugs with her right shoulder.

"But, she's right," she adds, nodding towards Hoshi. "I'm exhausted, and it's not like their friends will carry us home if they find us," she says, waving towards the petrified Shadow. Without another word, she starts following those scratches in the trees back.

Linne (877) has posed:
The curtsey, at least, somewhat mollifies Linne.

"May your family prosper, Miss Liberi. Now then. I must say that I agree, and frankly, after those creatures I think a hot bath would do us all well. Come, come."

With that, she'll start off away from the Forest.

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
"So people in this place are kidnapping people, huh? Oh! Oh, or people just wander in here on their own? I wonder what's more interesting," Gudako muses, knowing nothing about how things work here. These 'Shadows' have more friends though, that's good to know. And they're collecting the corpses for... whatever reason?

Ah well, there's the name drop. Janine Liberi, commited to memory! Or, well, Caster is going to remember it, because Gudako's making her write the report again. What's the point of Servants if you don't make them serve?

"So while we're on our way out, what's with the Wolf? Last time someone said if you stay here too long he comes for you but nobody explained." As they walk out, she figures she can ask a question or two. This one is relevant to her interests, if she intends to linger around at all.

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako smiles brightly. "Nice to meet you, Janine." She nods her head quickly. "Yes... let's go before something else jumps out at us." Although as she does so, she does check to see if everyone is injured. It's just the way she is!

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
Wow. Apparently there were bombs that were going to be dropped on everyone today. Well, Hoshi seems to get it a little less than everyone else, so that's nice. The name 'Janine Liberi' was a familiar one, though--the two twits who gossiped near her seat every morning mentioned the name occaisonally, but she knew remarkably little. Therefore, she refrains from commenting on the name, instead giving a small sigh. "Please, Ms. Liberi. I get that you're probably pretty annoyed and confused right now, but it'd be nice if you didn't insult the people who helped you."

Once she's gotten all the stuff she can carry, Hoshi starts off down the path after Janine. After a few moments of silence, she eventually says slowly, "So... Got a tip. It seems that if someone is here in the Forest, the mirrors in the town will react and show us. It might work for you, too. That way you aren't coming in here and risking your life unnecessarily. If you like, Kohler or myself can help keep you in touch, if you're willing to give your cell number."

That bit said, Hoshi starts falling back again to check on everyone, and as she passes Kotone and Ayako she makes sure to stop for just a moment. "Thank you for coming to help again, Ms. Hasekawa, Ms. Yamakawa. We're very grateful."

Ordria's question makes Hoshi scowl. "You're really insistent on learning about a place you have no place in," she comments dryly. "The Wolf is Death. It is the end. The thing that has no emotions, just the hunger of ages. I saw into the Wolf's eye, and I saw the void. Satisfied?" With that, she falls in beside Jeanne, her expression stony.

Ayako Hasekawa has posed:
Ayako hrrks and flinches as if Hoshi has just stabbed her. "Y-you're welcome, Hoshi, but... umm... please call me Ayako." She smiles a bit awkwardly and resumes walking along with everyone towards the exit.

Jeanne d'Arc (852) has posed:
Hoshi gets a tenative pat from Jeanne, before she remarks, softly, "If people wish my help, then they will get it. You did not look like you needed it, and... flames and I do not mix well. Since that was his intention, then I was forced to take a step back. There are limits."

Even for Sabers.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa is not sure what to think of Janine juyst yet but she doe sgive her her name.

"My name is Kotone Yamakawa."

She lisens abd gets an idea of Janine's reasons for being here.

"I see we been looking into the missing children as well."

She looks to Hoshi for a moment and then back to Janine again.

"No problem Hoshi, we shouldn't delay here too long though we might wish to talk more when we're out of the forest."

Janine Liberi has posed:
"There's a rumour going around about a 'Persona Game.' You do some stupid crap in front of a mirror and something happens. Like Bloody Mary. But if you do it right, you get dragged in here," the Girl explains in a tired monotone to the Playful Fox, for that is indeed the case. It is also how she acquired her Persona.

"Is it nice to meet me?" is all she says to the Girl Who Is Water. "She doesn't seem to think so," she adds, indicating the Sword Bride with her head. A long stare is given to the foreign woman, the Girl's forehead creasing a little as she thinks. "Do you know that for sure? I don't want to let someone get killed because we made an assumption. Besides, competitive fencing doesn't really work in a real fight. Coming in anyway keeps me sharp." She does not address the lack of need for insults.

Eventually, they reach the Traveller's arrival point. "I'm further in," the Girl says, gesturing deeper into the forest. Looking to the Bride, she rolls her eyes and rattles off a cellphone number. "Flick me a text when you get out," is all she says before spinning on her heels and striding away.

Only to come to a stop at the treeline, her fingers drumming on the knuckle guard of the sabre, memories whirling within her mind. The Girl's Father had always told her that a proper goodbye was always important. Though the Girl was melancholy and her heart clouded, her Father's words were always a guiding light.

So she looks back and says to the Soldier and the Bride, "See you at school tomorrow," before truly walking away.

And that is the tale of how the Lame Marquise came to be known to the Travellers.

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
"Nobody has a place anywhere but six feet under anyway, right? But even that only lasts so long, eventually you don't have a body anymore at all. But yes! Thank you, that's very informative. So eyes like the void huh. I wonder if it's like the Mud. That was weird the first few seconds too, but then you get used to it." Add this to the weird list of things to figure out. Mental note made! Caster will mention it.

Persona Game, there we go! Some hard facts, real data! So people do weird stuff in front of a mirror until the mirror eats them and drags them into the forest. Gudako glances towards Caster.

Caster frowns and pouts. "Nope. Nope nope nope. Don't even think about it, master. That's bad luck, like breaking a mirror! Don't play with superstitions!"
    "You're boring, Caster."
"You're reckless, master! Besides, we already know how to enter this place, we don't need to play a game to do it. Sheesh, talk about adding an extra step for nothing," the fox says.
"You're not curious at all?" Gudako insists.
Caster kicks the ground awkwardly. "Maybe just... a biiiiit."

Well, that's that for today though.
    Answers are good!

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
Ayako's reaction makes Hoshi wince as well. Oops. "S-sorry, Ms. Ayako. I'll keep that in mind from now on."

Hoshi smiles a bit as she nudges Jeanne with her shoulder. "Hey, cheer up. You did fine. Kohler... Mm. Kohler's going to get a nice, long talking to. With me and my shinai." She nods firmly.

Finally, the clearing came into view, with the pond of water leading back home within view. Hoshi makes sure to memorize the number Janine gives her, and though she can't really wave or do anything with her arms full, she at least can nod. "Please stay safe! I'll text you when I get back home."

But, now that they were here at the mirror, it was time to have a little conversation to the babbling Gudako. Hoshi's stony expression carries through in her tone. "Let me make something clear to you, Ms. Ordria. You are not welcome here. I don't know what your problem is, but if I hear that you're doing anything like what you've been describing, I will make sure to stop it. Even if that means leaving you hamstrung for the Wolf to eat. Get me?"

Gudako Ordria (908) has posed:
Gudako stares Hoshi back! It's... difficult to say is she's really looking her in the eyes or looking past her, since she barely registers any change from her careless smile. Her Caster, on the other hand... her ears bend back and she growls lightly, evidently a bit protective of her master.

"Well, you can try, but the last person who tried something like that, Berserker ripped their arms off and beat them up with them. I wonder how much more creative Caster would get!" She glances towards her Servant, whose glance is certainly saying something along the lines of 'very'.

"Besides, it sounds like I don't need to open this up to random people anyway, since random people are coming in on their own! Maybe you should try to stop the rumors of the Persona Game instead of staring me down. Or install cameras! We could turn this into a reality show!"

It seems obvious from her tone and demeanor she is not trying to anger Hoshi intentionally. Gudako just seems to lack any sort of filter.

Hoshi Amakasu (901) has posed:
Hoshi honestly considers dropping her load and going for her sword. It's a really... /really/ close thing. Her expression doesn't change much, but there's just the smallest sound of her gritting her teeth. "Just don't give me a reason, and we won't have to see how well you can stand. Everyone wins, huh? I just want to keep people safe. In the end, that's all that matters here." She turns on her heel, marching for the exit. Her mouth works silently as she goes. She's lost this round because she lost her cool. But it won't happen again. Her firm, insistent nod says so.

August Kohler has posed:
August is still here, he's just using his radio and flipping through his pocket handbook, as well as rubbing his sore arm. He's letting Hoshi deal with the others, and follows after her as she leaves. He's not staying here alone with Gudako.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa Says "I heard about the Persona game, and I found that yes sometimes these thigns are true. So you come here to train and make find anyone you can who might get dumped in?"

She pauses as they reach the next point and she heads off to leave.

"I wonder if they need someone to teach Auto Shop or multiversal computing at the school."

She muses something anything to get her focus of what she's been at for the last two months, also she might be able to help others as well.

"If we're finished here for now I should get going, I need to go see how my cousin's recovering."
