Training In Kawakami Academy
Date of Scene: 02 January 2016
Location: Kawakami City
Synopsis: A weakened Yari meets Sanary and Dorian in Kawakami Academy. Yari's still not back up to snuff.
Cast of Characters: 691, Sanary Rondel, 774

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
It's the recreation period in Kawakami Academy, and many a student are out sparring or using various training areas! Yari Takane, or rather 'Chiyo' as her cover identity goes, is amongst them. Dressed in the white-and-black girl's uniform of the Academy, she'd been sparring with a classmate.

And losing to an embarrassing degree. After falling on her tail for the third time, her opponent takes pity. The usually sharp Chiyo is flushed, exhausted, and clearly unwell.

But Yari is nothing if not determined however, and she's soon over to a target board. At the very least, her aim with knives hasn't faltered, and so she goes through the calming task of throw-retrieve-throw. Sometimes the basics are good to practice.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Arriving at Kawakami Academy, Sanary's doing anything but keeping a low profile. She's wearing her trademark white coat instead of any sort of disguise, she's got a large oval shield on her back and an ornate staff in hand, and she's even asking around for a certain girl named Chiyo!

Of course, it's not the same Chiyo that got flattened, but a Chiyo nonetheless. Spotting that familiar tail not too far away, the healer tries her hand at mimicking a certain Au Ra's quiet walking techniques to try and get to her throwing position without being heard.

Sneaking with a shield on her back, even. "Hey, 'Chiyo'. You sure you should be up and about yet?" She raises a hand, letting that green healing light gather around it and offering some of that ahead of time. No need for the staff yet!

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari's lessons might be working, because Sanary gets veeeery close to 'Chiyo'! Far closer than she has before! It probably doesn't help that the ninja still looks /awful/. She's a bit paler than usual. That technique of hers had definitely cost her.

That tail does go up at the last minute to poke Sanary right in the nose though!

"Enough to catch you. Hello, Sanary." The healing magic has the ninja relaxing just a touch, before spinning around in her uniform. It's a typical skirt and blouse with buttoned jacket affair.

"How do I look? I haven't had any complaints from the other students yet. It feels a bit strange. Going to school, that is." It's the highschool she never had.

Dorian Pavus (774) has posed:
If Yari knew what Dorian had to do to get information on her location she'd probably be livid. Or intensely proud of him, one of the two. Possibly both. Nonetheless, now he knows where Yari is. And now he wants to make sure she's all right. A high school is a good place to hide. But it is not a good place for Dorian to sneak into! He can't possibly pose as a student. So he does the opposite, he poses as a teacher.

Dorian looks pretty good in a suit anyway, and this is what he wears. It's white, though; apparently his powers of disguise aren't exactly the best, either. And no, he hasn't left his staff at home. What if he should need it?

So yes. There is a well-dressed man in a white suit, green silk shirt, dark teal-colored tie, and black dress shoes, with a staff that has three serpentine dragon heads slung over a shoulder, heading to where Yari-- er, 'Chiyo'-- is. He is obviously recognizeable.

Assuming he should manage to get in without arousing too much suspicion, he'll make for where Yari is. And once within earshot, "Greetings to you both." He offers a bow to Yari and Sanary. But to Yari, he notes, "You look as though you're doing a little better," he observes. Since she's actually up and around, and not limping.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary snickers quietly at the nose-boop, giving the tail a light pat before continuing with the flow of healing magic. She's taking it a little easier on herself today as well, though, since she's still feeling drained after last night's bout of healing!

"Looking good to me. Of course, I might be a liiittle biased." Grinning mischievously at that, she looks Yari's uniform over before looking around the training area a few times. "Still need to pick up one of those myself, actually... Eh? Is that...?"

Squinting slightly, she can indeed confirm that it is Dorian approaching! She tries not to bring any attention his way, of course, only raising her hand in greeting after he speaks up himself. "Hey, Dorian. Didn't know you had a job here." She grins just a bit more when he asks about Yari, apparently appreciating that in some way. Not enough to divert her healing towards him, of course.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Judging by the frown on Yari's face, finding Dorian is not on the list of things that makes her happy. "...Hello again. I'm doing better." That look on her face practically screams 'HOw did you find me!?'.

A deep sigh, and then she offers a bow as well. "Still, thank you for that time. You and everyone. I would really have be...have died othewise." She actually blushes a little here. So awkward.

"Nnn! You should. There's the very interesting fight named Momoyo Kawakami, she's...well, someone worth keeping an eye on." She offers back to Sanary. Ahh, heals! No one in the Academy has proper magical healing, it's annoying!

"What /are/ you doing here, Mister Dorian?"

Dorian Pavus (774) has posed:
"I don't," Dorian confirms to Sanary's remark about having a job here. "Though I don't think anyone but you two know that yet." He smirks. It's true, he looks pretty healthy. He might have managed to come out of that situation without getting injured.

He notes the frown on Yari's face, and teases, "That's a look I only get from my father when I turn up like a bad copper bit in Tevinter." He's obviously only kidding. Dorian chuckles. To answer the question? "I came to see how you were doing." A pause, and then he assures Yari, "Mind you, I had to call in favors I've been saving up for years to get this information. It certainly wasn't easy."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary might be blind when the magitech eye is off, but even she can see that something's off about this picture! Looking from Yari to Dorian and back again several times, she can't help but notice that awkward tension. Of course, that just means she'll have to take it on herself to try and defuse some of that!

"Well, good to see you're here checking on her. 'specially if I'm ever tied up doing something else, I'll need someone to keep an eye on 'Chiyo' here." She chuckles lightly and crosses her arms, glancing around again. She can't be too careful!

"Does remind me, though... Uh. I think I saw Momoyo the other day in Lordran. Is this her... Area, then?" She waves with her hands a bit for emphasis, then turns to Dorian. "... Is that why you had to come dressed like that?"

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari smirks a bit. "You look like a teacher, staff aside." She reassures, making a 'lips zipped' motion. She has no idea to rat him out, after all. Dorian's proven a good ally thus far.

"Please. You are at least worth three gil rather than just one, Sir." Her irritation notably lessened at the mention of favors. "I was worried I'd started to lose my touch. Here." She writes down a number and hands it to Dorian.

"Next time spare your contacts and just call me." One Yari contact get!

"Still, thank you for the convern." She glances to Sanary. At least Dorian and Sanary both seem okay as well!

"Yes. Or, rather, she's the headmaster's daughter. Strongest fighter in the area as far as I can tell. I'd have to take drastic measures to stand a chance." And they've both already seen 'drastic measures'.

"She also gets very bored when she can't fight, is very simple and hates being lied to, is an utter addict to battle and enjoys finding ways to bum money off of other people for lunch." /Frown/.

"Still owe me a bowl of ramen for the other day, Momoyo-sempai." Irritated Yari!

Dorian Pavus (774) has posed:
Dorian nods to Sanary's question. "It is," he confirms. "Also I like this suit, and I don't wear black." It's true, he doesn't. This would probably be a very notable thing if Yari or Sanary have an idea of Tevinter's reputation in Thedas. Since people from Tevinter, particularly mages, are generally thought of as the scum of the world in Thedas. Ah-ha, 'Chiyo'. Dorian understands how the waters lie there! He nods. "Oh, definitely," he agrees. "One doesn't let one's friends go unchecked upon."

Yari's discretion gets a nod. "Thank you. The last time I was grabbed by an ear and thrown out was by my mother, and unpleasant enough. I still have the scars from that incident three years ago, and it's not one I want to repeat." ...Wait, his mother scruffed him by an ear /three years ago/? The mention of 'three gil instead of one' gets a laugh. "Such high praise," he teases, bowing. "It's much appreciated." And then number! Dorian nods. "Ah-ha. That will make things abundantly easier, thank you," he notes.

he quiets as Yari begins to talk about this 'Momoyo'. And he chuckles. "How charming," he notes of Yari's description. "I think I've met Qunari much like that. I wonder if they'd get along?"

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"sounds like someone to look into more." Sanary grins confidently as she taps on the shield on her back, glancing around once more just in case the named person is anywhere in sight. "Or fight. Still need to get used to fighting against people-sized... People that don't just fall apart after getting hit once."

She pointedly avoids commenting on 'drastic measures'. No need to remind Yari about that again! Or herself, even. She's still losing sleep over that.

Thankfully, Dorian's there to redirect the conversation away from that. She raises an eyebrow at the mention of an ear-grabbing incident, peering over to look for said scar out of curiousity. "Of course, that thought leads to another, and... Time to distract herself with something else. Anything else.

"Qunari? Is that a group from back in Tevinter? If they're fighters, too..." The wheels are turning! Slowly, but still.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari crosses an arm. "Nnn! Maybe you just haven't found the right suit. I should see about getting you some Doman clothes. It might look good on you." Someone is going to be stuffed into a kimono, poor guy.

STill, the mention of 'friend' has her smiling a little more warmly. Dorian is a good person. It's hard not to like him.

A raised brow. "Your mother must be...fierce." She can't help a pang of loss, but she recovers swiftly. "Heh, quite possibly. Just don't let her con you into buying her meals."

Then she's laughing at Sanary. "You'll find it educational if you do. I'll keep a few potions around if needed." Knowing Momoyo, the answer will be 'yes'.

"Yes, tell us about these Qunari, Mister Dorian." Story time for the ladies!

Dorian Pavus (774) has posed:
"Qunari in Tevinter? Maker, I hope not," Dorian replies to Sanary's question, the comment dry. "In my world yes, but the Qunari have been at war with Tevinter for centuries. Granted, it's barely an eye-watering slap fight by now, but every now and again the two sides remember they're supposed to be killing each other and not engaging in slightly rough foreplay." As for being fighters? "Oh, not to worry. If this girl was a Qunari, you'd know it."

"Doman?" he inquries. "Hmm. I may need to look into this." Yes, apparently Dorian is a fashionista! Or at least likes to know about the fashions of various worlds, anyway. As for his mother being fierce? "Not exactly. It's less that she's fierce and more that she hasn't quite grasped the concept that I'm not a boy of five years old anymore."

When asked of the Qunari, Dorian answers, "Qunari are mountains, upwards of seven feet tall." Gotta love that translation effect, translating some unknown Thedan unit of measure where it can be understood. "And the vast majority of them have horns. There are those that don't, but they're rare. They tend towards brutish, savage, and uncultured. They also tend towards sewing shut the lips of mages. So of course I'm rather inclined not to like them."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"Potions? That's a good sign." Sanary's grin at Yari grows just a bit wider at that. A fight against someone that strong, especially one she's seen blowing up a giant drake? Nothing could possibly go wrong there. "If the fight's that good... Maybe I'll get her a burger or something, at least."

She's not always cheap! Just most of the time.

Dorian's curious comparison of the Qunari Tevinter war draws a bout of immature giggling from the healer. She's still technically a teenager, after all, even if she's already nearing her twenties! "That so..? H-huh. They sound..."

Don't be sarcastic. Do not be sarcastic. "Pleasant." Dammit. "I'll keep an eye out for these Qunari, then. Doubt they'd like me much, either, so... Well, I don't need string to attach things where they shouldn't be." Yari gets a brief smirk, then Dorian before she settles into a more relaxed smile.

"But yeah. We got your back. Especially after your help last time."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
"So then, massive, barbaric, without any subtlety or stealth." Yup, Yari's scowling here. They remind her of the orcs she's heard about in various worlds, and her kunoichi sensibilities are clearly wounded here.

"Who goes kicking around doors that way?" Pause. A glance to Sanary.

"I mean kicking them down without any sense of restraint."

Yari grins! "Wonderful. Sanary, let's pencil in a shopping trip soon with our 'teacher' here."

Sanary then gets a smile. "I am going to enjoy watching you two." The ninja sounds a little giddy.

Yari nods though. "No one's sewing your mouth shut, or if they do, I have knives and Sanary has healing magic. A little field surgery never killed anyone too important." Yari probably isn't helping here.

Dorian Pavus (774) has posed:
"It's unlikely they'll breach Tevinter's walls anytime soon," Dorian assures Sanary. "Besides, I don't live there anymore anyway. I'm something of a hermit." Of course he has to add, "Not nearly as unwashed, mind you." A chuckles at sanary's observation. "They are," he insists. Yes, he's also being sarcastic, the false brightness is a clue. He clasps his hands next to his chin, tilts his head, and looks up to the sky, clearly faking adoration. He notes, "And add to that the wonderful 'manifest destiny' of their religion... how they believe that the Qun, their teachings, will one day cover all of Thedas~!"

The lightness fades, and his countenance returns to normal. "Oh, they have subtlety and stealth. Some do. 'Ben-Hassrath'. That's what their spies are called. They ACT like the rest of the group-- loud, brash, barbarians-- so you don't realize that every one of them has their other hand behind you with a knife it it. Just waiting for you to cease to be of use. And of course, the Qunari revere them as priests and great leaders."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Yari's description of Qunari stings juuust a bit when Sanary hears it put that way. At least she has some semblance of stealth and tact... Occasionally.

It worked that one time, at least!

"A shopping trip..? Uh. Sure. For extra clothes, then?" She taps a finger to her chin while looking Dorian over. Not that his sense of style is bad or anything, but... Well, he probably shouldn't be taking fashion tips from the girl that has a total of four non-combat outfits.

She could probably use a new set herself.

"These... Man. They sound great at parties." Shaking her head lightly, the healer furrows her brow at Dorian's description of the stealthier Qunari. Stealthier being a subjective term, anyway, but.. It does give her some ideas. "Maybe I should try and do that... Easier than trying to keep my footsteps quiet, at least." Annother chuckle, another shake of her head. "Eh, don't worry. We take good care of our allies, so even if any of 'em ever join the Confederacy? We'll keep you covered."
