Lila (545) has posed:
    ARKHAM CITY!

It's evening, and there's been an unusual flare up of magical energy! It's almost like a page monster! The mystical flare vanished almost immediately... and the slumlike region it came from is showing no sign of a page monster.

Anyone investigating will hear the sound of bullets though. Submachine guns that rattle off shots, only to be cut short by violent and disturbing screams. It's the sort of sound that makes the residents slam their doors and windows shut.

Ariel (219) has posed:
It was the magical signature that brought Ariel to the city and has her trudging about, cloaked and looking for the source. "Hmm... probably not a page monster, or maybe one that doesn't make a lot of noise. Still better check out the commotion. Maybe it's a stealth spell!" Could be, right?

When the screams sound out though, she dashes, speeding down the alleyways at such a speed that the dumpsters rattle and the newspapers are left adrift in emptiness, long after she's gone.

Al Azif (135) has posed:
"Be careful, Ariel!" Al warns, holding tightly to the girl's shoulder. The Magius Form should give Ariel plenty of speed. She clings and squints, then muses, "Yeah, even a stealth one like the Mirror would probably make a bigger splash than this. Might be something else. Could be a trap! We should get ready to call Demonbane."

Somewhere, Ruri Hadou rubs her temples. Winfield appears, "Something wrong, Mistress?"

"Mm, just had this sudden feeling..."

Lila (545) has posed:
Rounding a corner reveals the right place! It... has to be. Looks like Black Lodge goons were here, about a half dozen, and they were shooting at something. They aren't now, as most have been torn to bits. Blood is everywhere, and the bodies are... not really in any condition to be retrieved. It's pretty obvious where they were shooting, because one area of the wall is NOT riddled with bullets. A pair of smoking footprints is on the ground, hissing softly from the light drizzle of rain starting. Whatever was there is gone now, but... the thing they were protecting is not gone.

Huddled against the wall, in a torn and ragged blanket, is a small figure, breathing heavily. As Ariel and Al come around, she peeks out of the blanket, eyes blinking a few times. A glimpse of one arm, scratched and torn with what looks like the impression of a manacle upon it, can be seen before she tugs the blanket more tightly around her.

Of course Ariel and Al being what they are, BOTH of them can sense something very WRONG about the girl, a vague darkness hovering about her.

Ariel (219) has posed:
Ew. Ariel looks a little disturbed at the carnage, but she's quickly become aware that the girl is there. Black Lodge is bad, right? But the girl... hm. "Al... do you feel that?" She steps forward hesitantly, then drops to one knee and holds her hand out anyway. Dark feeling or not, a girl in need is a girl in need... right?

"Hi... don't worry, we won't hurt you," she coos. "Are you hurt? Did you see something bad? If you're being chased, we can help. What's your name?"

Al Azif (135) has posed:
Al nods slightly, "Yeah... I feel it. Be careful, Ariel. I don't think she's-" Quite what she seems. And then Ariel just... up and offers her hand of friendship and protection.

    Facepalm.

Sigh. "Sometimes I forget that the reason you're such a great Master is also your biggest flaw, kiddo."

Lila (545) has posed:
The girl stares for a few moments, shivering. She's not dressed for the rain under that blanket! Still... the unadulterated kindness IS something that fascinates her. "Um... I don't know." That seems to be the answer to ALL the questions, though.

The girl stares at the hand, then peers at Al before reaching out and taking the hand carefully. Ariel's touch will feel... well, for Ariel it feels unnaturally icy cold. For the girl, it probably almost burns.

She holds it anyway, struggling to get up. "I don't think you can keep me safe," she says bluntly.

Ariel (219) has posed:
Ariel just beams, taking the hand tightly and rising as well. She starts walking with a little smile on her face, tucking her wings back to look more like they're part of the cloak. "I'm a unicorn. Saving people is what I do. Now come on... it'll be a lot easier to keep you safe at home than here."

She ponders. "You don't know your name? Well... how about Live-In Lost Adolescent. That seems to fit! We'll call you Lila."

Al Azif (135) has posed:
Al sighs, huddling under the hood. "Your mother is going to blame me for this, I just know it. Picking up random strays off the street. We don't have enough tacos for this!"
