Is it Really OK to go to a Public Restaurant When You're Sick
Date of Scene: 10 August 2016
Location: Void - Deeper Void (South)
Synopsis: Dealing with sentient viruses, talking about current events, eating pizza and drinking orange juice in a futuristic hole-in-the-wall eatery. Just another morning in the multiverse, really.
Cast of Characters: 165, 151

Ren Tanaka (165) has posed:
Probably not, but here we are anyway. Set in the backdrop of a charming little hole-in-the-wall restaurant who has been muddling along since galactic year 2442, Ren is just here to meet up with a friend and not be a typhoid mary, sure. I mean the latter part may not have occured to him but when do certain important things ever?

Currently he's casually sat at a table holding one wrist down in a deathgrip while his left leg kicks the right leg in the shins under the table.

Ainsley (151) has posed:
Ainsley walks over and comes to a halt at the table he's at, apparently comfortable enough navigating a futuristic little hole-in-the-wall pizza place. She looks... just... absolutely haggard. Like some conversation she had has sapped her energy completely. But she sees the sight of Ren fighting himself. And she makes a sucking noise through her teeth after a click of her tongue, obviously offput by the sight of an ally in such a state. It's a little shocking.

"I'll skip right by asking for your go ahead for this. You look like you need help badly and it looks like they're gaining ground on what they're trying to do to you."

She slips into her seat and closes her eyes a moment. Then she opens them, and her eyes are filled with brilliant Blue magic circles, opened as widely as she can possibly make them. Points of white light in her pupils flicker like she's a computer scanning him rapidly. She focuses on him in search of the virus attempting to communicate this information to his nervous system and bodyjack him. It's not invasive in the way normal magic is and may not be detected... But she came here with her sword as well, in case this turned into 'fight the mind-controlled ally' day.

Ren Tanaka (165) has posed:
Ren Tanaka immediately ignores it, probably. Before Ainsley can even really get around to saying anything he's leaning across the table and looking at her.

"Goodness gracious, you really have seen better days, haven't you? Traveller you will cede to our demands or-" Shakes cheeks, like a dog does, lots of silly noise. "Excuse me I'm talking."

THe listens to Ainsley- then, gives the impression his problems are the furthest thing from his mind as he keeps on talking without missing a beat. "Has something been happening in Drachenblatt? I got sidetracked with Kazuko and Alice a little while after I did that phone tapping stuff, I don't even have the faintest how that all unravelled."

"Ah hm," Ren mentions mostly with his mouth open when Ainsley scans him. He makes a rather unpleasantly long throat-clearing sound, and-

"Oh, the good Princeps of Nanonex Enterprise? You are a bitter fellow. Didn't quite know who you were dealing with. Excuse me, Ainsley."

Ren takes a little tube out of a backpack which is really just a YuYubottle, and hops off of the table with a full-body, muscle-wracking sneeze that leaves the whole thing half-filled with metallic purple? dust about half-way filling it.

He idly begins screwing it shut. "So where was I?"

Ainsley (151) has posed:
"It's the hour, and I was using my magic for too long." She thinks on the whole thing, recalling how Ren's been out of touch for a little while. "Well... Klaus is alive," Ainsley tells Ren. "There's that. We also know that there's someone actively setting traps for us. The Huntsman. I also got the dubious honor of having been put on a special place on the Black Queen's hit list, because my powers are a direct threat to what she's doing. I could eventually track her down. Maybe. She represents something about humanity that may not be defeatable in the traditional sense, I think."

Once she's gotten it all down, she squints her eyes and then reaches out gently with one hand, her fingers making a weird gesture. A feeling of tension in the air happens as she tries to gently, gently, GENTLY... nudge the invading substance with her magic so that she can get an idea of where it might come from. Sometimes these things have information coded into them that can be read if looked at the right way. It makes a nearby radio FREAK THE F*** OUT, spooking one of the customers. A light above them flickers as the computerized automatic lighting system gets affected by this.

"Let's hope they didn't account for my flavor of magic," she murmurs.

"Besides this, have you been alright?" she wonders.

Ren Tanaka (165) has posed:
'Idly', but the last couple twists are those kind you make to ensure nothing's getting out of there. He puts it down by his leg and turns to Ainsley thoughtfully.

"Alright, that's good then, that's good," when it comes to Klaus. "That's bad," when it comes to someone setting traps for us.

He turns and looks to see if anyone's going to bring over a second menu before he looks back at Ainsley.

"I do so... not the biggest fan of the mirror forest by a long shot, or what it represents really. I suppose if you've talked to Igor and the Pig, I could still try to talk to... what were the others? Woodsman, Wolf and Red Queen?" Ainsley's probably been around to hear Ren be explicitly warned not to try and strike up conversations with at least one of those but so he goes.

Ainsley (151) has posed:
"The Wolf is a bad idea." Ainsley makes a big shrugging motion at that, and deactivates her magic. She slumps forward until her chin is on the table and her mouth droops into a frown. She's had a long day. "I have no idea how you're going to find the Woodsman. Honestly, I could probably get their attention for you, if I knew the right words," she lifts a hand above her head and wiggles her fingers all mystically-like. She places her hand atop her head after that. "The 'Red' Queen? As far as I know, this isn't Alice in Wonderland, this is more like fairy tales," she tells Ren. "Think Snow White, or Cinderella, or the Three Little Pigs... And then make them way more messed up."

She straightens in her seat. "Why do I keep doing this stuff, again...?" She wonders aloud.

Ren Tanaka (165) has posed:
Somewhere, a shadow with a rickety queen costume packs up its 'the doctor is in' sign and desk, and scurries away.

"Mm, I know," he says, waving a book of fairytales from the library which was issued November 2015. "I've been reading..."

"As much as I appreciate the offer though I think he's the sort of person that would probably give whoever's looking for him one or two nasty knocks, which makes me more suitable for it. Plus he roams the city, which is a plus.

    The breakfast menu arrives.
"Well, once you've tried pizza for breakfast once you begin to realize it's just as acceptable as anything else," Ren says back.

Ainsley (151) has posed:
    "What?"

Ainsley's confused inquiry sounds rhetorical, and the gentle laughter from her confirms it alongside her insistent and dismissive handwave. "I think I'll just get something to to drink," she decides, retrieving the menu so she can flip through it and find a suitably breakfast-y drink. "And we can share a pizza. Then I'm going home, alright?"
