The Grand Reopening of Tomoyo's Boutique
Date of Scene: 04 March 2017
Location: The Tapestry
Synopsis: Tomoyo's Boutique finally reopens with a new look!
Cast of Characters: Tomoyo Daidouji, 136, Sir Gawain, 20, 385, 434

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
It's been a long time, but Tomoyo's Boutique has finally been rebuilt.

As the whole structure had to be restored, Tomoyo has taken the time to have it built to her specifications. The building stands at two stories, same as before. It's been painted beige, the soft off-white of untreated wool. Unlike before is the fact that it's made of stone rather than wood. Clearly Tomoyo is taking her fire preventative measures seriously.

The windows are all circular with frames that segment the glass into quarters. The ones on the first floor, immediately adjacent to each other with the door on the right of them when you look head on, have the blinds pulled, and the silhouettes of people cast from the inside.

Through the oaken door with the logo of the store engraved on it, one is greeted by cream carpeting on mannequins on your left that cast that silhouettes seen from outside thanks to bright lights built into the floor.

The counter is now opposite from the door and between it and you are thick polished white granite pillars with shelves built into them. They hold the materials with special properties that the Boutique offers, protected behind glass windows with locks. Each one has a plaque explaining what it is and what it can be used for. A major change from the old Boutique is the racks along the wall loaded with clothes, segregated into male and female. Each one looks handmade... Tomoyo obviously remained busy over this period.

The girl herself is waiting behind the counter, also made of the same white granite as the pillars. The uniform of white shirt, black skirt and yellow apron remains. She beams, and offers a proper bow. "Welcome to the newly reopened Tomoyo's Boutique~"

Rarity (136) has posed:
Starting one's own business is never easy. Restarting a business after disaster, even less so. Especially when it's in a profession that can be as fast paced and cutthroat as the fashion industry.

So naturally Rarity is here to support her fellow fashionista and Trust member. She's even gone so far as to 'dress down' for the occasion, only wearing a simple (in comparison to her usual special event ensemblems) but still decorative dress of magenta and white trim. This way she won't inadvertantly steal too much attention from Tomoyo and her grand re-opening.

"I must say dahling, I simply love what you've done with the new storefront. The decor is eyecatching, and yet," she lifts a forehoof to tap one of the signs for the pillar displays lightly, "functionally practical for display."

Sir Gawain has posed:
Despite his endless searches, Gawain has never quite found formal dress that really calls to him. His current suits are nice, but something's missing in them, to the knight. He had heard about Tomoyo's Boutique in the past, but it was either too busy or he didn't have the time before the disaster. But now that it's reopening, this seems like the perfect time!

The Knight of the Sun had made his order earlier that morning, as soon as they had started getting accepted, and is now here to pick his up (and also check out the store in general). Gawain's dressed in a white button-up and a pair of jeans, bowing his head as he walks through the door and is greeted. "Thank you! It looks amazing in here! Very colory!" Despite his...way with words, the knight has genuine enthusiasm, a wide smile on his face. He then notices Rarity, turning to her. "Oh, hello! Sorry, were you here first? I didn't mean to interrupt!"

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
The first arrival is... not a customer! But that's okay, Tomoyo is always happy to see a friend. She smiles and emerges from behind the counter to greet the other tailor. "Why thank you~ I had to fight a little with the building company to get all this. They weren't too pleased with the idea of following the blueprints of someone without a degree in architecture. But it all came together nicely~"

And now, an actual customer arrives! "Ah... Sir Gawain, correct?" She smiles at his description. It's... not all that apt, considering all the soft, neutral tones she used. But she'll accept it. "Rarity is just here for support, you are the first customer I've had. Everything is ready, as you wanted."

She slips back behind the counter, and heads up the stairwell behind them. There is also a flight of stairs going down now! Looks like the Boutique has a basement this time. She soon comes back, with a pile of neatly folded clothes in blue and black. "I apologize, the delivery of bags was delayed. Please feel free to use our changing rooms." She gestures to her right, where booths have been included in the building plan as opposed to merely set up. Red curtains offer a level of privacy, and mirrors and hooks cover the walls of each.

Rarity (136) has posed:
Rarity pats her hoof on Tomoyo's arm lightly. "Trust me, dahling, I know. But location is everything, and you certainly have a fine one here."

Ears twitch back a bit as she hears someone else coming in, and lightly steps out of the way to Tomoyo's side. "Oh, no no no, go right ahead. I am just visiting. For support, as she said."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
It's not that often that Toph Beifong visits clothes stores, though Pepper has been known to drag her along to one now and then. But there are a few people the blind earthbender is comfortable with hiring for these sort of tasks. Mostly because they don't make the clothes scratchy.

The door opens, ringing the bell and alerting the people inside to the young Paladin's entrance. There's not much she can do to look around, as most of the items inside are not made of metal or earth. She does recognise the sound of people, and she walks on over towards the counter. "Heya guys!" And of course her focus turns to Tomoyo. "Congrats on the new store, has stuff been going all right? I should drag Sokka here sometime, he might want to order some clothes from you too," she grins.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
The door barely has time to close behind Toph before it swings open again, admitting not one but two figures. ... Well, 'two' if you count one who's far smaller than the other, in this case a little robo-faerie construct who flits along behind a familiar blonde idol.

"Hey, Tomoyo!" Yuna greets the young woman whose shop she's entering. "Congratulations on your new store opening at last! I'm glad everything came together for you to stay in business ... hey Rarity, Gawain, Toph!" she greets the others in turn. "How are all of you this evening?"

A-ko Magami (434) has posed:
A few moments later, there's the sound of someone running fast... yes, VERY fast. And then the door springs open once again, albeit casually, but when A-ko steps in, it's obvious she's the one who was just running really fast outside. "H-hey," She says with a wave. "Sorry, I got a bit caught up coming here. But I'm glad to see your store is open!"

Sir Gawain has posed:
Beige and white are colors, therefore this place is colory. That is sound logic to Sir Gawain! He nods to Tomoyo, taking another glance around the place. "I am! Thank you for the speedy work, you're superhuman!" Three others arrive shortly afterwards, Gawain recognizing two of them (though he does tip his head towards A-Ko in greeting). "Toph, Yuna! Did you come to get clothes too? Isn't this place amazing?"

As Tomoyo grabs Gawain's clothes and apologizes, he just smiles. "It's fine! Thank you very much, let me go check them out!" The Knight slowly takes them, heading into the changing rooms to try them on. He comes out after a bit, dressed in the clothes. "Hmmm...!"

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
The bell above the door chimes! Not once, twice, but three times! Tomoyo looks away from Gawain to greet the three women that arrive. "Welcome~ Thank you for coming," she says to them all. Looking to Toph first, she says, "Things have been going well~ The stonework all seems good, but I think you have a better 'eye' for such things. And feel free to bring him along next time~"

Next, she looks to Yuna and bows. "Thank you~ It took much longer than planned, but I'm glad it's complete." And then to A-ko, who draws a smile and a soft laugh. "It's okay, you're right on time~ One moment please everyone."

She vanishes up those stairs again, and soon returns with three more piles of clothing, which she lays out for them all. Yuna's is mostly blue, while Toph and A-ko both have a lot of green. "I hope they are to your satisfaction~ Please feel free to use the changing rooms."

Speaking of, Gawain emerges in record time with his new look. It consists mostly of a black, long-sleeved shirt with a golden zipper down the middle. The collar is a turtleneck, and on the breast above his heart is the Paladin logo in gold. Hanging from his shoulders is a large, powerful-looking cape. It's blue, with golden embroidery and trim with white fur around the neck. Golden chains loop around his neck to help keep it on. In the centre, the Paladin logo reoccurs in gold.

Black gloves cover his hands, and his pants are also black. The boots he wears are blue, with more fur trim around the mouth and golden laces and soles. Tomoyo walks over to make sure everything fits all right. "You said you could provide some armour to it yourself. I hope this will mesh well with what you have~"

Rarity (136) has posed:
Rarity turns her head at the door chime, and blinks a few times. "Toph?... I must say, this is one of the last places I expected to come across you." That said, she leans a little to the side to see who else is also arriving. Most customers for Tomoyo, excellent. This will definately help get her re-established business flowing. But there is one other face she does reconize, and gives a wave to. "Yuna, dahling, hello! Good to see you too."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The idol that follows after her does earn a small wave. "Heya, Songbird," she greets Yuna. "I'm fine, getting some stuff done amidst all the crud going on. How about you?"

Gawain and Rarity's questiosn earns a nod, and Toph gestures to Tomoyo. "I hired her to do something before, really. She makes good clothes, and they're comfy." So there, Rarity! Toph isn't allergic to clothes even if she's no fashion slave. "Tomoyo also made some clothes for Pepper last year, and she can finally wear them now!" she jokes, clearly amused. "So... you really like clothes, huh?" Who would have thought? When Tomoyo returns with more piles of clothes the blind girl cants her head a bit and reaches out to touch the cloth. "Hmmm, feels good." Sturdy, but not too thick so that it hinders movement. Picking it up she then heads over to the changing room, still talking. "So what kinda stuff did you guys order?"

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna grins sheepishly, "Well, Elner said I needed to come pick something up ... I didn't know about it before she told me, though," the blonde comments, giving Elner a mock-angry look before smiling again at the others. "Given the dress Tomoyo made for me before, I'm sure the fit will be perfectly comfortable," she adds, nodding to Toph in particular at that. "And I've been all right; even without the Union calling on my time, I'm still pretty busy. Studying at Beacon, rehearsing songs and stuff ... ah, hey A-ko!" she greets the redhead with a grin and a wave.

What could she need to rehearse that isn't songs? Dancing to go with her performances, maybe, but ...

In any case, Yuna walks over to collect her new outfit; Elner hovers over it briefly as if doing its own inspection, then moves to hover near the register. "Tomoyo, I can provide the payment data whenever you're ready," Elner offers.

"Let me try it on first, at least?" Yuna asks, sounding just a little exasperated as she heads for the changing booth.

Rarity (136) has posed:
Rarity laughs softly to herself. "Don't worry, Yuna. I am not going to get upset if you have outfits made by other seanstresses," she jokes. "That would be unlady-like. Nor are we rivals as it were." She turns her head a little to wink in Tomoyo. "There is certainly more than enough market to go around, is there not?"

A-ko Magami (434) has posed:
A-ko smiles and waves to Yuna, while giving an audible, 'Hello!' to Toph as she makes her way in. After that, she looks at her dress and smiles. "Oh wow, this is truly amazing! I must try it on!" She pauses suddenly as Yuna goes to try her outfit on. "OK, I'll wait."

Sir Gawain has posed:
When Gawain emerges with his outfit, he looks down, stretching his arms out to glance at them. He does a little spin while looking upon himself, before giving Tomoyo an enthusiastic thumbs-up. "It's excellent! Oh, right, armor!" Having paid in advance, Gawain sees no issue with immediately getting to work on his outfit, as he summons parts of his armor onto him. A pair of gauntlets, covering most of the lower arm and half of his hands, as well as some lower armor around his waist. Finally, he summons armor over his legs, from his knees downwards. Moving to glance into a mirror, Gawain thumbs ups again. "Fantastic! It's absolutely what I've been looking for! Thank you very much, Miss Daidouji!"

Gawain doesn't get ready to leave yet, though. Some friends got some clothes, after all...he's gonna have to see what they look like!

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Stepping outside of the dressing room Toph does look a bit more formal. And Gawain isn't the only one who seems to be going for Paladin wear today. The clothes are less childish than what she usually wears, and it might be because of Tomoyo's detail to the seams. She's tying the sash around her waist as she steps out of the dressing room. "Well, as I can't tell how it looks, I'll leave that to you guys. It feels comfortable though, so it's got my approval," Toph nods to Tomoyo. "I'll wire the money over to you once I get back to the Ad Coelum, that okay?"

The style of the clothes is sadly lost to the blind girl, so she can't see what the others are wearing.

As for Tomoyo and Rarity working together, that makes Toph nod. "Heh, I'd like to observe what you two could make together. Like the ultimate formal dress or something. Or a huge plushie."

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"I suppose you and I are her special exceptions, a level of trust I appreciate~" Tomoyo says to Rarity in response to her surprise. "And I agree~ Although, I wouldn't mind some healthy competition or collaboration with you. It could drive us both to new heights!" Looking back to Toph, she nods. "Same material as the cloth in the last outfit I made for you," she says, agreeing with the earthbender's observation of the cloth strength.

Once in the dressing room, she can begin to unpack it all. It begins with a forest-green robe, loose and comfortable with the length ending below her knees once worn. For her legs, the only thing she wears are black stockings, the bottom wrapping around the middle of her foot to leave her heel and toes totally exposed. A yellow sash is there to be wrapped around her waist, to help make the whole outfit pop and to carry object on. r
Back outside, Tomoyo nods to Elner as Yuna protests. "Until I know she's satisfied, I won't take payment~" In the changing booth, she is free to examine what she has received. The outfit is clearly modelled on military dress uniform, but with a unique feminine charm. The body of it is made up of a knee-length, long-sleeved dress. It's the same shade of blue as on her Light suit, with white folded cuffs at the wrist. White stripes run down the front and back in parallel, meeting at her shoulders and ending at the hem of the skirts.

Said skirts also have another white stripe running around their edge that separates the blue from another band of blue that marks the edge of the dress. Golden buttons run down the chest of the dress, inside the white stripes. A ribbon is included to be tied tied into a bow under her chin, the ends connected under the starched military-style collar that will hide her neck.

White stockings are included, with some polished black marching boots, all the studs and bootlace holes and aglets in gold. Last thing is a sensible, plain blue hairband, intended to keep her golden hair out of her face. All in all, it's a rather serious-looking uniform, but it doesn't take away her girlish charm.

Finally, Tomoyo looks to A-ko. "There are plenty of changing rooms, no need to wait~" And then Gawain emerges. As he summons on his armor to complete the look, the tailor nods with satisfaction. "Oh yes, you look very dashing~ The perfect fairy tale knight!"

Rarity (136) has posed:
Rarity giggles a bit behind a hoof. "They are right. Both of those could definately be interesting prospects to look into for future endeavours." She would rather collaberate, or at least 'friendly' compete, with a friend than try to actually work against them.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna takes her time about unfolding the new outfit - partly because she doesn't want to get any of it dirty or damaged when it hasn't even been paid for yet, but also because she has *no idea* what Elner ordered for her. At least, not until she starts examining it.

And then sets about putting it on. Which also takes a bit; it's not really a familiar style for her, and she always tries to be careful when she's putting on a new outfit for the first time - especially when she didn't pick it out herself. Plus, while the dress is relatively straightforward, she hasn't dealt with this sort before. The stockings are easy; the boots take some more work ... but as she looks in the mirror to tie the ribbon into its bow, then steps back to examine herself, she finds herself nodding in approval. Plus, as tall and ceremonial as the boots look, they're relatively easy to walk in - they won't pinch or chafe, at least as far as she can tell from a few experimental crouches.

Only after all of this does she step back out, twirling briefly for the others (those who can see, anyway) to see for themselves. "Not something I'd normally pick out for myself," she admits, "but it looks and feels really nice, Tomoyo! I'm just not quite sure what it's for ..."

A-ko Magami (434) has posed:
A-ko takes a look at Yuna and smiles. "That looks great." She says with a nod, before heading into another dressing room to get changed. For a moment, there is nothing. She's calmly getting dressed. After a moment, she walks out wearing her new dress, albeit barefoot since she didn't have any new shoes to wear with it. "How do I look?" She asks, twirling around.

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
Tomoyo nods, satisfied as Yuna emerges. She walks around the girl to assess it before clapping her hands together, a pleased look on her face. "You look very smart and professional~ I'm glad your old measurements still applied." When Yuna mentions that she doesn't know what it's for, the tailor seems surprised. "Well, Elner said you could probably use a uniform that isn't just your Light Suit. It is a little too showy for low-key events~"

Inside the booth, A-ko gets dressed! The outfit is made up of dark green one-piece formal gown. The dress is rather loose fitting but comfortable all the same. The sleeves are elbow-length, showing her usual bracers on her arms. They also form straight from the chest of the gown, leaving her shoulders bare. Bows in a pale green sit on the hem, just below the shoulders and white frilled embroidery goes down the outside of the sleeves. On the chest is a decoration of white frills below an emerald brooch with elegant lace patterns sewn into the dress beneath it.

A dark blue belt loops around the waist with white ribbons spiralling around the leather. The buckle has a distinctive 'S' shape to it. The skirts consist of three frilled tiers and end at the knees. Upon her feet is a pair of low green heels. The straps that secure them zig-zag halfway up her lower legs to be tied together.

Tomoyo looks at her and giggles. "You look very lovely~ The green goes wonderfully with your red hair."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"A uniform?" Yuna asks, looking confused. "But the Union doesn't exist any more, I have a student uniform for Beacon ..."

"A uniform to be worn by the Savior of Light," Elner explains, floating next to the register at this point. "There *are* times when you shouldn't be dressed for battle, and as Tomoyo says, the Light Suit is a little ... 'showy,' as she put it."

"Huh ..." Yuna looks down at herself, twisting left, then right, to get a better look at how the uniform hangs on her body. "Well, it'll work for that, anyway. And it's more comfortable than most uniforms tend to be," she adds with a smile. "How'd you find boots that are this comfortable to walk in? If I wasn't wearing them myself, I'd expect them to feel a lot more restrictive ..."

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
Tomoyo nods along with Elner, smiling at Yuna as she examines it. "Your Light Suit is great in a fight, but at some formal engagement, it looks a bit out of place. Something like this is better suited~" When she's asked about the boots, she says, "Boots can be comfortable as long as they're fitted. They can be very uncomfortable if they're not the perfect size. Again, I'm lucky your old measurements still fit~"

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Well, Elner would know as well as anyone besides my costumers," Yuna replies with a wry grin. "How much do I owe ... ?"

"You don't," Elner says to Yuna, pivoting to look up at Tomoyo. "I believe 'ring us up' is the usual expression? Or I can interface directly with your register to upload the payment, if you trust me."

"That's probably a rude way to do it," Yuna chides the robo-faerie, fairly good-naturedly as these things go. But however Tomoyo takes the payment info, the account number is valid and the payment - which may be a *little* over Tomoyo's quoted price for materials and labor - will be approved without any issues.

Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"Of course I trust you Elner. You and Yuna are valued customers~" Tomoyo says simply, gesturing to allow the robot to interface to transfer the payment. "Thank you all for visiting Tomoyo's Boutique. Please come again soon~"
