Synopsis: Psyber and Elliana have a chat in Boston.
Cast of Characters: 92, 253

Psyber (253) has posed:
It had been an abrupt invitation. Psyber sending Elliana a message that he wanted to talk with her for a while and to meet him in Boston Harbor, away from the office.

The meeting time set it at night, but not too late at night. The sun was just freshly down past the horizon and the moon was bright in the sky, shining off the water as a few yachts ponderously skim the harbor. Psyber, himself, is sitting on a bench right in front of a railing that overlooks the water pretty nicely. He has a couple wrapped up sandwiches with him and some sodas.

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
Elliana's arrival is... pretty quiet, actually. Just a walk up and a nod, whereupon she drops right onto the bench, flopping back. She's wearing a light jacket and a shirt that says 'LIE TO ME' on the front, along with some shorts. Her hair is up in a ponytail, but she's wearing a ball cap to sort of hide her scar.

"You wanted to speak to me?" she asks politely. Casual dress, huh. She must not have wanted to stick out in the city.

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber hands her a sandwich and says, "Here, just sit with me and eat a bit while we chat. It's chicken salad." He notes, smiling at her before he unwraps his own sandwich.

"But yeah, I did. I figured I should sit down with you and say some stuff that's been on my mind for a few days," He thinks back a bit, before looking over at her, "You look nice dressed casual, by the way."

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
"Thank you," Elliana replies honestly. She also takes the sandwich and gives it a sniff, then nibbles lightly. "I've had quite a bit on my mind as well. Is this business or personal, or both?" Her world probably qualified as both, really, but there's no reason she can't have a casual business-related chat either.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Well, aside from just getting to hang out with you, it's some personal stuff." Psyber says, turning to look towards Elliana, "I try to guide you a lot and do good by you, but I also realized I fucked up a lot in the past by not really understanding you or by letting myself get carried away. The Black Cartridge, and even further back when I shot you." He pauses for a long moment, "I already apologize for the Cartridge, but still I'm really sorry for not getting you some times. And getting frustrated instead of trying to understand. Even when I yelled at you over Drasillium, that wasn't right. I shoulda explained to you why I was frustrated."

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
Elliana just gives Psyber a strange look. "Aside from the Black Cartridge incident, I took no offense." She sighs. "I know that many of the things I do are extreme. I know that you may not understand or agree with them. That is fine. You may even be correct. When I proceed with a plan, I discard all doubt so that I may focus upon it... I dedicate myself to it. But when making such a plan..."

She pauses, taking a bite and swallowing. "If you think I never have doubts, you are quite wrong."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"I do, at times, wonder if I had done more harm than good," He says, smiling at the strange look. She may never find out it was Nathan Hall yelling at him as a hypocrite that caused this topic to bother him. Instead of proceeding further, he says, "I know you have doubts. I never thought you didn't. You go through it all and you take the course of action you think will end it all most cleanly with the resources you are certain are reliable."

He awkwardly takes a bite of his sandwich and then smiles at her, "You try your best." A long pause, "I finally figured out an answer... a real one... to what I mean when I talk about redemption."

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
Now that... interests Elliana. She sets her sandwich in her lap for now, brushing hair back to look at Psyber. This means her scar and mismatched eyes are perfectly visible to him, at least. "And what, may I ask, is that?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"At first, I thought it was that I wanted you to stop voluntarily doing things that were bad, but bad is subjective and that's my morality," He laughs a bit and then says, "And I couldn't hold you to a standard that I don't follow, since I do bad shit too."

He looks her dead in the eyes and takes a deep breath, "Redemption isn't the right word. I want to revive you." He puts a hand on her shoulder and stares her right on, "I want you to come to a point where you some day feel comfortable enough to trust people and to just be you again. I don't mean your mask you wear, or your need to control everything around you because I think you're scared to trust. I believe that the innocent girl inside you still exists, that she's still inside you and she wants to trust and care for and just... be happy. And when I say I want to redeem you, I mean that I wanna bring her back. She's been gone for thirteen years, but I'd like to meet her some day. Whatever it takes from me to do that, I'll do it. Even if it means we're gonna disagree and fight sometimes, I want you to know that I'm not gonna give up on you." Then he says firmly, "You're a good person, Elliana."

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
That statement, or the combination of them, makes Elliana stare back... and then she pushes away, standing up to walk over to the railing. "I don't think that I am, Psyber. Maybe I could have been, once. But it takes a bad person to do what's needed, sometimes. I've accepted that. It's why I have no qualms with being in the Confederacy. I'm not sure if that girl can ever be revived. She died... a long time ago."

Looking over her shoulder, Elliana sighs. "My turn. I may have been wrong in my initial attempts. I... am not certain that I could trust. But if I had... if I had trusted when I joined the Union..." She shakes her head. "It doesn't matter any more. Not right now. I need to finish this, one way or another. It is not about vengeance any longer, much as I would still like that. I need to know."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber watches her go over to the railing, sitting on the bench and listening to her as she talks. He rubs his hands together for a few long moments and then stands up after her, though he doesn't approach yet, "I agree with you that sometimes bad people are needed. But I don't think you always will have to be a bad person. And, while I think you've made friends there, I don't think the Confederacy is where you will ever truly belong. Especially with some people in it," He admits to her.

The half-angel slowly steps forward and takes off the short jacket (not his traditional duster, but more like a regular coat, and drapes it around her shoulders, "The past is the past. I think admitting you may have been wrong is a big step for you, though." He then leans on the railing himself, "Wherever your path goes, I'll walk it with you. Dark, light, it doesn't matter. It is as the book says 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'." He looks at her and smiles, "I'd be a shitty guardian angel if I wasn't gonna go all the way with you."

Though curiosity does beg him ask, "You need to know what? The full story behind your parents?"

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
Elliana shakes her head slowly, processing everything with a faint smile... then looking away and thinking of how to answer. It takes her a long while before she can come up with something to say, anything that makes sense.

"Maybe you're right, but it does not matter right now. For now, we are working together. For now, we have the same goal. And it is to find what I want." She sighs. "I want to know why. Why everything has to be so awful. I'm very tired, Psyber."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber looks at Elliana for a long time as she says that and then slowly moves his hand over to rest on top of hers, unless she pulls away or resists it, "Truthfully, I wonder the same thing a lot about... everything. And I'm really tired too." If she let him, he'd squeeze the top of her hand and then say, "But for now, let's just watch the harbor."

Elliana Fairchild (92) has posed:
Elliana almost looks like she's going to say something... then she just sighs, leaning on her other arm and huddling against the rail. "Something is coming, Psyber. The birth of a new Amethyne, Steppenworth's words..." She makes a face. "I can't even be angry at him any more. I suspect there is more to his story yet." She softens her expression and murmurs, "Another time, perhaps."
