Life is Pain, Don't Let Anyone Tell You Different ft. Raha and Inga
Date of Scene: 08 January 2020
Location:
Synopsis: Inga, Raha and Alruna piece together the after events of the disastrous fight in the Tower
Cast of Characters: N'raha Tia, Inga, Alruna Greengate

N'raha Tia has posed:
It hurt. Everything hurt. All of Raha's bits hurt today. From the tip of his tail to the tip of his nose, the catman could feel every muscle protesting, feel every piece of what made him him screaming at him that 'you fucked up'. And they wouldn't be wrong.

Raha was soaking in the large tub in the basement of the home. One of two they had, to be sure. His and hers. The shower was off, but the catman only cared that right now the warm water helped and he was supposed to be hydrating and everything hurt.

Inga has posed:
Inga has, as far as she can tell, a brand new body. She'd died again. All and all, it hadn't been her finest moment, but she'd tried. She simply wasn't cut out for that sort of fight. She'd drawn too much attention, and no one had intervened successfully. Despite having a new body, or however it worked, she was sore as well. Nothing like Raha. Her pains were perhaps more mental. Exhaustion, the memories of that strange grey place where she'd spent so much time...

Inga knocks before opening the door and entering the room, her walking stick in one hand and a small tray with a pot of tea, two cups, and a large bottle of ibuprofen. She may have magical and herbal healing in her arsenal, but really. Ibuprofen is magical too.

She sets it down on the edge of the tub with a sigh, then sits nearby. She's dressed in a long skirt and a black hoodie of all things. It's the multiversal 'I'm tired and I don't give a fuck' outfit. "Is the bath helping?" she asks, pouring a cup of tea before opening the bottle and dispensing three pills for him.

N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha sighs and just rubs at the stubble at the edges of his chin, taking in his partner and her appearance and just grunting in approval. "Sort of." His ears, or rather his good ear, flicks a bit, casting droplets of water into the room. A hand lifts and he takes the pills, looking at them, and then tossing them back, crunching once before swallowing with a face. Bitter, as ever. "Hnnn. We didn't find G'raha. Xande tore open a hole into the void and escaped. Lezard fucked off."

    He sighs. "Failure all around."

Inga has posed:
Inga winces as he crunches the pills. "Raha...you just swallow them whole, you don't chew them," she says, and can't help a small laugh.

She slumps back against the chair, leaning her head back against the wall gently. A slow sigh. "Yes. Sometimes we fail. That is life. We will try again. I hate to say it Raha, but that man we fought...he was right. The Watch is disorganized. We have so many strong members but we aren't a /team/. We simply don't work together the way the Concord does. Say what you will, but they support each other."

N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha makes a face and grumps, but murmurs. "It's because... well." He wilts. "It's been a LONG TIME since I've had people I could even begin to trust besides you. Those..."

A breath. "Alruna and Amelris, they're Chosen too. More Warriors of Light." A beat. "So I have to trust them, and learn to work with them. And I am pretty sure I smashed most of that chance last night." A moment to soak. "I can't even remember half of it."

Inga has posed:
Inga shakes her head. "It isn't just you Raha. As a whole, this group needs work. But that's a conversation for another time," she says, waving a hand in dismissal.

"Hmm. I was under the impression you were /the/ warrior of light. I knew there were others with the Echo obviously though...ah, well. Less pressure, more help. We'll need to meet with them. Get to know each other so that we can work as a group. I doubt you have ruined anything. That said..." Inga takes a deep breath. This is where the conversation gets difficult.

"Raha, I am worried about you. This is coming from someone who self-destructed fairly successfully. You can't go on this way. The Odin-rage is a powerful force, but it is also dangerous if not used correctly. I worry...when was the last time you fought without it? You have to be able to /think/ Raha. Whatever Staren said, you should not have done what you did..."

N'raha Tia has posed:
The good ear wilts again, and the catman lets out a huff of breath. "I..."

He doesn't have a good response for that. Not really. Dark hir shifts as he slides around in the tub to plant himself closer to Inga, in reach, if she wants. "I'm not sure if it was any /thing/ he said, just... Staren being Staren and being... obliviously arrogant GODS that annoys me."
He sinks into the water enough to blow a stream of suppresed bubbles.

Inga has posed:
Inga sighs, nodding. "I know, he has a way...but that's just how he is. Knocking him in the head isn't going to help. Anyway, it isn't all about Staren. You know I say this out of concern for you Raha...for us. I need you," she says, reaching over to put her hand on his shoulder. "I can't...have you lost in the rage every time we get into an altercation. When you lose control too deeply...you make two enemies. Your opponent, and yourself. I know it is part of you Raha, but gods...you have got to learn to think your way through it. You have to be able to function. It is like my Sight. When I was younger, it constantly overwhelmed me. I had to train myself. Sometimes I still lose control, obviously...but it's better."

N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha wilts some more, and just sort of makes a vague noise. It's not that far from a noise of assent. He's Aware.

"I thought i had... a better handle on this than I do. There's..." N'raha's eyes go distant. "There's darkness, Inga. There's darkness coming and it's been so long since I've had any bit of light that isn't you." A vague distraught noise. "And then Majima wnet and... and..."
And then I Was and didn't stop him from killing you and Staren went and said things and it's all..."

    A sigh. "I need help."

Inga has posed:
Inga moves closer to him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and pulling him against her. "I know, love. There's always darkness coming. We have to make our own light. You're not alone. Your world is far from lost," she says. Unlike...some worlds.

"You know I will help you as much as I am able. You were there for me when I walked in darkness. I'm here for you. And so are your friends."

N'raha Tia has posed:
Oh. Hugs. Hugs are good. Even if Raha's getting Inga's dress wet now. "Hnnn." His good ear flutters a little bit as a rumble forms in his chest, and then he reaches a hand back to pet at Inga's fresh new hair.
A calm moment though. "You got back alright. I'm assuming you found a safehouse first."

Inga has posed:
"Mmm. I just came to Agartha. Stayed there for a bit, resting. Don't worry about me," she says. She doesn't care if her dress is wet. It's only her shift, she'll change. "These others warriors of light...let's meet with them, hmm? That's a good start. Next time, we want to make sure we work together in a way that benefits us."

N'raha Tia has posed:
The catman's head drifts a bit as Inga hugs him gently like that. Raha's still hurting in more ways than one. A little moment, and he murmurs. "I was scared I'd.... broken something. More than just me. More than just..."

"...Yes, we need to have them over."

N'raha Tia has posed:
The house is frankly slight mess. Built in much of the fasion that most of the Adventurer Housing is, the upstairs is a frankly more social space with a small but professional looking kitchen, a set of tables and chairs and such for guests, and also a small TV Set.

There's noise downstairs though. Raha's lion-like rumbles and Inga's quieter voices.

For his part, Raha is now standing in the hallway to the living room downstairs, dressed plainly in a shirt and slacks, a towel in his hair. He is being very ginger to avoid touching one of his ears. "Like, what do i say to them though, hello, I tried to kill everyone lsast night, here, try this ham, I made it myself?"

Alruna Greengate has posed:
"That seems like a good start."

Alruna, like any good Warrior of Light, knows how to just Be There when someone says something they didn't intend to say within earshot. She's doffed her armour and opted for her mustard-yellow longcoat again. It breathes a lot easier than leather and plate mail in Limsa's warm climate.

She's halfway down the stairs when she announces her presence, and just about bounces down the rest of the stairs, light on her feet and with a sunny expression on her face. "Inga, yes?" she looks to the other woman. "We didn't really talk yesterday... and... you're alive."

Inga has posed:
Inga has changed into a non-wet dress, and is ready with tea and snacks when Alruna arrives. She is not surprised at her arrival--seer.

She smiles softly and extends her hand. "Yes, Inga Freyjasdottir. A pleasure to meet you. Er...ah...yes. I am alive again. I wasn't even gone for that long this time, there was an anima well close by. Come in, have a seat," she gestures.

N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha looks up in mild shock though, but that's because his ears and senses are busted from being danced on and kicked and all sorts of rude things he did to himself.

"Ah, r-right. Alruna, this is Inga. Inga, this is Alruna. She's a Paladin. But not." A beat. "She's a Paladin but WITH the Paladins. That's going to get confusing."
A look to Alruna. "Inga is my partner." There's a note of pride in that. Partner. Singular. Interesting for a Seeker.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna smiles. "I'm glad. I can see there's much and more to learn about the lands beyond our borders."

"I'm not affiliated with any Paladin orders." she says, as the easiest clarification you can get. "Do you have a- yes, that will do." She walks over to the table that tea and snacks have been laid out on, and pours a small hill of sweets onto the snack pile from a pouch she produces. If it wasn't a pile before, it's a pile now. "Did you know there's a bakery in Revenant's Toll that's also a sweetshop? I didn't!" Alruna flops down into a chair, and seems to just, let the tension flow out of her with a long breath.

"I'm sorry, I interrupted you." she prompts.

Inga has posed:
Inga chuckles at Raha's explaination. "Yes, I understand what you mean," she replies to him, then watches as Alruna piles her plate with snacks. There's the usual--small sandwiches, scones, little cookies with jam in the middle...Afternoon tea sorts of things.

"Not at all. We wanted to speak with you...and the other. What was his name?" she asks, looking to Raha for the answer. "If we're going to continue working together, we should get to know each other. I do not want a repeat of the tower. We'll need to face Lezard and the Emperor again, and we must work as a team."

N'raha Tia has posed:
The catman lets out a much more calm sigh, and his good ear flicks a bit forward as Alruna drops off all those baked goods. It's as good as anything he could have made right now, as beat up as he is. His hands are still tremoring, ever so slightly.
"It's Amelris. And he and I go back a ways. He was there with me when we took down the Ultima Weapon and defeated Lahabrea." A little soft purr as he finds a chair.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna nods. She sits up again because slouching while you drink from a teacup is an invitation to disaster.

"He's... expressive." she smiles, recalling their first meeting, which ended with her having to rescue him with a rope. "Minfilia told me the story, it's quite... a story." Started well, that sentence. Alruna opts to snatch up a cookie to fill that awkward void.

Inga has posed:
"Amelris," she says, trying out the name. She nods, remembering him from the fight, though they hadn't actually had the time to get acquanited. "Ah really? Strange then that I haven't met him before," she adds. She passes Raha a cup of tea, holding her hand over his for a moment. A small gesture of comfort.

Inga looks back to Alruna. "So, a Paladin. I saw you fight, a little, admittedly I was rather busy. What would you say your greatest strengths are?" she asks.

N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha makes a vague noise about Amelris and his lack of presence. "Mmmmh. Stuff happened and... uh." His ear wilts to match the tilt of his busted ear, and he finds a tea cup to sip on while he lets the Paladin explain herself.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna blinks, and swallows. "Well, being me!" She raises one arm and flexes, stretching the rolled-back sleeve of her jacket. She grins, and puts her arm down, slurping some of her tea. "Did you have something specific in mind?" she prods. "I would say I'm one of the realm's best swordsmen, but I've been... away, and my position has been taken by all manner of upstarts!" Her expression says she's joking, but not her eyes.

Inga has posed:
Inga raises her eyebrows, lips curving upward into a smile. Well, there is something to be said for confidence. "I'm simply wondering your skills so that we can coordinate. I do best when I am...well, not being actively stabbed, but I suppose that could be said for anyone," she says, pursing her lips. "I am best with healing, protective wards, etc. I have other abilities, but all function best when I'm farther away from the people that want to kill me. Is Amelris a warrior as well? Does he have the use of magic?" she asks.

N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha, as he lets Inga start her interrogations, gently slumps in his seat, subtly turns and then less subtly leans his head against her shoulder, as he nibbles on a cookie. A decidely feline gesture, as he slow closes his eyes and tries to absorb more chill.
Everything hurts and that includes his psyche. He used up a lot of himself last night.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna nods, putting down her teacup. Gently. "I've always been a front line kind of fighter. Conjury didn't sit well with me, nor the bow. You've seen me work as a paladin, but I have some skill with pugilism too. It's a lot easier to fistfight without all the armour weighing me down."

She leans back, going distant-eyed. "Amelris... now his kind of magic is /interesting/. I've never seen a mage that blended magic and swordplay like that before." She sounds quite taken, whether with Amelris or with red magic. One of them. Perhaps both.

Inga has posed:
% The witch smiles fondly and tucks an arm around Raha comfortably, listening to Alruna. An eyebrow rises slightly as she talks about Amelris and this 'red magic'. They do have a tendancy to describe magics with colors here. What would that even make her? White, black, and blood. There's a small smile as she notes that look. "I see, so he does have use of magic. It sounds as though he must be flexible in that case," she muses.

"I can speak for this Emperor, but I do know Lezard. He hates me. Maybe we can use that."

N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha makes a vague noise as he's hugged, and sighs, resting against his seer. "He's got mixxes of both conjury and abjuration. He can heal and he can throw fire and ice and he's got... fancy sword play in there too. He's an all arounder, and most of it hurts. So." A vague shrug with a shoulder. "He'll tell you I've vastly oversimplifying the way of the red mage or something."

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna grins. "No doubt." she agrees with N'raha.

"There seems to be much malus between you. You said to target the wizard instead of the Emperor yesterday," she glances at banged up and battered N'raha. "And you're our leader so I followed your lead, but I think that was a mistake." she says bluntly. "Your judgement was compromised."

The air is heavy with the pause after that sentence before her brows knit together. "What happened to you?"

Inga has posed:
With a nod, she pours a cup for herself, one handed. "I see. I'm sure you would oversimplify what I do as well," she laughs.

"I admit, I was annoyed...my anger wasn't even entirely for Lezard. But I do know him, and he's dangerous. Arrogant though, and I believe we can get him to make a mistake. Maybe," she sighs.

She then looks to Raha. He can speak for himself. She'd admonished him enough.

N'raha Tia has posed:
The main floor of the little FC House is decked out in a table and chairs for eating, a small kitchen for cooking, and some couches and chairs in front of a TV. It's around the table that the trio that are already here are seated. There's also tea and nibblets.

Raha gets called out and properly so, as he sits up. "That's because I was compromised. I was compromised and I was lost in the Beast and I was of... little use." He sighs and wilts. "I can only apologize as best I can, after the fact. No excuse."

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna leans on the table, cupping her chin. She breathes in, then out, slowly. "So what do we do about it?"

Inga has posed:
"Train," Inga answers. "We're open to suggestion. I was thinking about getting him really angry...then making him do math," she replies, cup held before her lips. She gives Raha the side-eye.

Siiiiip.

N'raha Tia has posed:
The catman makes a vague disheartened noise at Inga's suggestion, and then blughs. "I'm no good at maths unless it's cooking, you know that." He huffs and slumps in his chair, petulant for all of a moment, before the seriousness of the situation sets in. "Clearly I should not be in charge of the party, until such time I can be trusted with that."
He frowns at his own suggestion.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna cocks her head, still resting in her hands. "That seems drastic. Minfilia still trusts you, doesn't she? /We/ trust you. Aren't there other Warriors who can mentor you, teach you how to control that inner beast?"

She suddenly remembers she has tea that's cooling, and picks up her cup again, scoffing another of the astoundingly sweet cookies she bought before she came over.

Inga has posed:
Inga nods in agreement with Alruna. "I agree, that is an excellent suggestion. Someone to mentor you, who knows your art. I can help you with meditation techniques and what not, but a mentor, I think, is essential," she replies, sipping her tea.

She still wants to try the math thing though. Maybe...angry baking?

N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha lets out a vague sigh, and then wilts. "Inga trusted me too and-" He cuts himself off, and mmmmhs. They were both right, of course. He WAS still a valuable asset to the Scions. Even if his brain wasn't right. "It's been a while, but... there's some? I havn't seen Curious Gorge in some while. Or Broken Mountain." He shrugs a shoulder. "Probably worth a visit."

Inga has posed:
Inga shakes her head. "Stop berating yourself for that. I'm fine now," she says. She looks good as new, really, if a little tired.

"Well, let's see if we can find someone. You have a network of people with the Scions, have them spread the word. And until a mento can be found, we'll see what we can do."
% "I hope we ill get to speak with Amelris as well, be sure we are in agreement. And figure out the next step."

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna reaches out to clap N'raha's shoulder. "We're here to help, N'raha."

She beams at him. So much so she threatens to just blind the two of them with actual sunshine.

N'raha Tia has posed:
"Mmm. Thanks." The pat on his shoulder gets a little wince out of Raha though, as he wriggles a bit in his spot at the table. Still sore. He slides the teapot over and pours himself a fresh cup and then goes back to leaning on Inga. "I'm still going to let others take the lead in the Crystal Tower investigation. For now, anyways." His tail swishes a bit against the chair. "Untill I can get back to my senses, in any case."

Inga has posed:
Inga nods, frowning gently. "If that is what you think is best," she replies. "You need not be in charge...it can be a group effort," she says. "It is your world. Consult with Amelris as well. With the Scions. We will have to deal with the Emperor, sooner rather than later."

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Oops. Alruna withdraws her hand. Eventually, she nods in agreement. "If that's what it takes. We need to talk to Amelris too, definitely."

She flexes her fingers. "If worst comes to worst, I can beat you unconscious and drag you back here for Inga to take care of you." she grins.

Inga has posed:
Inga laughs. "I do just about the same, except not physically. I sort of...hit him right in the Echo," she explains.

"Well. I'm going to attempt to talk to Staren. Maybe he knows where G'Raha is...and would be willing to tell me."

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna nods. That seems like a good spot to conclude. She drains the rest of her cup and bolts up, pulling on her gloves. "I'm going go explore the Tower further. Perhaps beat up that one thing we missed on the way in last time. He seemed lonely."

N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha snorts at tht and sits up. "Have you found a proper place to stay, Alruna?" He shuffles p to his feet, slowly, and then sighs as he starts to fuss about with the tray of snacks and more plates.

Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna mmms. "I'm kinda just bunking at the Rising Stones at the moment." she replies, leaning over the table to pluck a hard candy out of the pile and pop it in her mouth.
