Synopsis: Finna comes to bug Psyber about guns.
Cast of Characters: 253, 513

Psyber (253) has posed:
After teaching his classes over at Miskatonic, Psyber has come back to the tower for his meeting with Finna. The gym-ish area is where he goes to warm up after classes, but before he goes out for actual missions in the city. As such, leaned up against a wall is a messenger bag with a dress shirt draped over it so that Psyber can lift weights in one corner of the room without dirtying up his nice shirt.

And that is exactly what the half-angel is doing, lifting a large-loaded barbell up and down while he waits.

Finna (513) has posed:
When did Finna enter the building? Who knows. Maybe she's been waiting. Maybe she just recently snuck in. The mouse on the ceiling was probably quite hard to notice. And honestly, the way it descends behind Psyber on a thin silken line that glitters silver in the light is a thing one'd expect of a SPIDER, not a mouse.

But Finna doesn't like taking spider forms. They're too creepy for her aesthetic sense! So Ceiling Mouse was watching you instead.

Halfway to the floor she shapeshifts, so when she lands it's with a noteworthy thump about ten feet behind Psyber. Unlike before, she's in her modified huntress attire. Like her normal tribal leathers and furs, but heavily stripped down and modified to show midriff, short sleeves and pants... yeah, the same material, but more like what some fantasy thief might wear, or perhaps an adventurer who's tired of OVERHEATING CONSTANTLY in the Multiverse's warmer zones.

    "Ooooooooh, there you are!"

Psyber (253) has posed:
Ceiling mouse is still creepy in its own right! And Psyber may have to adjust security to prevent people from sneaking in. He wards against the paranormal, and sieges, but not sneaky Lunars. Either way, Psyber pauses in his weight lifting when she makes her presence known, grunting a bit as he braces the heavy weight against the bar and then sits up.

"Indeed! Here I am. Welcome to my office and home, Miss Finna," Psyber says with a smile, picking up a towel and draping it around his shoulders. He's sweating slightly and his muscles are a bit strained from the lifting. Still, he looks to her a few moments later and then adjusts the towel before asking, "So! You have your face to face. What request is so secretive that you require a trist with a Colonel?"

Finna (513) has posed:
Finna snickers into her wrist at Psyber's choice of words. "Oh, it's a tryst now, is it?" She, unlike Psyber, is not showin any signs of exertion, though she does len about on her tiptoes to get a good look at the room she's ended up in. She's eyeballing the range in particular...

"Me, well," the young woman leans forward, ears perking up as she cracks a smile at the half-angel. "Iiii just prefer face-to-face over a disembodied voice! So!" She plants a hand on her hip and looks up at the taller person's face.

"I've heard you're quite the gun nut. Yes? No?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"You're the one sneaking in, half-dressed, to the place I work out! What if I'd been in the shower?" He asks in a playful tease, before he lets his hands fall into the pocket and the towel is left draped over his shoulders, "But I can understand preferring a face-to-face over a radio conversation, definitely."

He hmms at her question, "I use guns a lot in my line of work, yes. Gun nut, sword master, researcher. A man of many fields," A chuckle escapes him while he looks down at her, "A few people around here are gun nuts."

Finna (513) has posed:
"mmmmMMmmmmmmh? Your imagination is more suspect than I thougght." Finna grins shamelessly at Psyber. Who knows jsut WHAT he'll make of that statement or gesture, but she doesn't appear bothered b that insinutation one bit.

"The answer, of course, is 'whatever I felt like!'" Nnnnnyah! She sticks her tongue out!

But then it's back to serious mode. "The thigns are giving me trouble. Not shooting, I've got that down fine! But there's so many weird details like what kind of bullets fit what gun and the thing jamming on me... it's way better for some things than a bow, so not getting it working's a damn shame... soooo I was wondering. Can you teach me about these things?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"My imagination is perfectly normal, it is your conduct and demeanor which is suspect!" Psyber says with a grin back at her, hands still in his pockets as he rocks back and forth on his feet.

"Sure, I can teach you about gun safety, at a price," Psyber says, rubbing under his chin and thinking it over, "Always important to get that down. But in return..." Psyber's grin turns to a mischevious one, "I get to play with your ears some more."

Finna (513) has posed:
    "Hgi?"

Finna WAS gonna say something, but she's left stumped by this request. Stumped. Slightly blushing.

    Also gaping a bit.

Really, her fce mostly freezes in an incredulous expression at the half-angel.

He could've asked for all kinds of things, but he went and asked for THAT.

    "Gcht..."

She seems to be stuck trying to parse that one. A few nonsense syllables follow, and her tail's gone from wagging merrily to wagging sporadically.

Is this a good reaction? A bad reaction?

    "... hguh... what."

It's not as if the price is really any trouble.

    She just can't BELIEVE it.

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber gets the feeling that causing someone like Finna to go off-balance in a social situation is a feat of amazing skill, but he has no confirmation of this. Instead, he stands there smiling widely and rocking back and forth on his feet, "It's a simple price! It's not like you seemed to mind the last time I did it, either."

It's in Psyber's nature to ask for the unexpected in payment for services. Like saving Elliana to hire her. Or befriending Nathan as a job. Or making Hastur learn cooking.

Finna (513) has posed:
"Y-..." ear-twitch. "...You weirdo... a cute, 'half-dressed' girl drops in on you and THAT's what grabs your attention?" She finally recovers, clapping a palm to her forehead while still blushing a little. "Leave it to the man with a skyscraper full of girls to have strange tastes..."

Not that she sounds insulted by this. Or even bothered. Simply surprised!

"Hrmhrm, no, I don't mind! You just... caught me off-guard..." unstated: 'Weirdo.' Again.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Great! Sounds like a bargain! You get almost free gun safety lessons from a professional." Psyber says cheerfully, pointing out the bright side to her, "And yep, that's pretty much exactly how it works. But I'm not a weirdo, it's immortal eccentricity." He says in response to the strange tastes.

"So where do you wanna start?" He asks her, tone turning a bit more serious.

Finna (513) has posed:
"Ah-huh..." Despite some hints of what might be reluctance in Finna's tone, she brings both hands behind her back and sways a little. Not unlike a kid might, really! "You got 'eccentric' right, not that I mind!" Finna chimes with a wink.

"And of course, the beginning... all I know is 'point, shoot.' These things make the fine art of archery look simple in some ways... aiming's easier, but the weapon sure isn't."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber hmms and tries to figure out where to start, "A gun is a weapon that uses a powder charge to propel a piece of metal at incredibly high speeds." Psyber says pretty simply. Info everyone knows, "Typically, a gun is sized to a single type of round. They're named by size: 9 millimeter, .45 Long, .45 ACP. With guns like these, the round is not able to be used between guns. The ONLY exception is with revolvers. Revolver rounds tend to just be 'bigger versions of the older round'. This means that, because a .357 is a larger version of the .38 Special, a gun that can shoot .357 can shoot .38 Special. This does not work downwards, however. A .38 Special Revolver can only shoot .38 Special, because a .357 will not fit in the gun itself. The other example of this is the tiered order of .460, .454, .45 Long Colt, and .45 Schofield. You get the point."

Psyber then says, "There are two types of handguns. Those loaded via a magazine, which means you put bullets in independant, swappable loading systems. And revolvers, which use an in-built cylinder to hold ammunition. There are pros and cons to each in terms of capacity, reliability, power of handgun." He waves his hand a bit, taking a pause in his explanation to let it sink in.

Finna (513) has posed:
Finna's eyes start glazing over a little about halfway through the explanation, but she slaps a cheek and forces herself to pay attention. SOOOO many numbers!

Well, she's smarter than she looks, that's for sure. "...Aha... so the bullets really are that specific... why so many different kinds, I wonder... hrmh." Finna reaches behind her back and pulls out - seemingly from nowhere (yes, Elsewhere) - a Glock 19, and in the other a Smith & Wesson 686. Seems she's been collecting some... although the revolver is completely unloaded. "That explains these two designs!"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Different levels of power and how hard you wanna stop someone." Psyber explains to her simply, watching her pull out the two guns, "So what you have right there is a Glock 19 in what looks to be 9 Mil. And a Smith 686, which is .357 Magnum." Psyber says, heading over to the range and coming back with three boxes of ammo, "This is 9 Mil Hollow Point, you use this on things you want to fall down." He points to one box, "This is .38 Special. You also use it on stuff you want to fall down." And then to the third box, ".357 Magnum. You use this on things that didn't fall down with the last two rounds." He grins widely.

"Revolvers are abit more potent because their frame has less moving parts. Less moving parts means you can build it to withstand more force. More force means bigger bullets."

Finna (513) has posed:
"Ahaaaaaaaa! .. Well, that's more sensible..." Finna follows along, but stops upon realizing Psyber's comingg back. She leans forward to examine some of the ammunition... "The revolver's pretty easy to reload... the other one is pretty fidgety!"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"With the Glock, you wanna have multiple spare magazines on hand to make sure reloading is way faster and easier," He explains to her, "Jamming bullets into a magazine after every set of shots can be tiring and time-consuming. But with your dexterity, you probably would do great with revolvers are your all-arounder weapon," He says pretty honestly.

Finna (513) has posed:
"With my dexterity, huh? You do know a few things about Luna's Chosen then!" Finna's showing a sort of lopsided smile now as she turns the revolver around. "All-around weapon... not a bad idea. The... what a weird name... Smith and Wesson 686... that's a mouthful..." And she's an Exalt saying that!

"... The revolver's way simpler! ...Ooookay, I'll focus on them then! .... What do I gotta do to keep the thing in good shape though? For a bow, it's all about storing it somewhere not too wet, cold, or hot... keeping the string from drying out takes waxes or oils that are easy enough to scavenge up, but uh..."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"It has to do with design numbers, probably," Psyber says to her, in response to the comment about the strange name of the weapon, "It was the successor to the 586, and they wanted to differentiate it. The company makes a LOT of revolvers in a lot of different frames," He says, before his hands fall onto hers, setting the bullets down on a table.

It's not a romantic gesture, he's guiding her hands through the moving parts of the revolver, "Same basic rules. It's stainless steel, so it can take a bit of water around it. Dry it out before you fire it, but it'll work in the rain. You wanna make sure you never bend or damage the barrel or you risk a misfire. Use oil on any moving parts like the cylinder or the hammer," He guides her hands to show her the moving parts once more.

"If you treat it halfway decent, it'll hold up for a very long time. I still have revolvers from a century and a half ago." He releases her hands after that, "Make sense?"

Finna (513) has posed:
"Th-that's all? For such a complicated-looking gadget..." Finna blinks a few times, and doesn'tresist at all as she's shown the different parts of the weapon. "Rain's horrible on bowstrings... and not these, huh? That's even better to know!" Finna's getting quite excited now! And all over a gun.

When she's let go, she twirls the weapon a few times... ".... Urgh.. lots of them... well, nothing to be too surprised about! Sooooo what kinds do YOU favor?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
An interesting question to ask him, "I use all kinds. My bread and butter guns are usually heavy weapons that should be mounted on vehicles, OR..." Psyber reaches to the small of his back and pulls out a gun he had holstered in the back of his pants, "102 years ago, John Moses Browning designed the Colt 1911. A gun so good they based all future handgun designs on it. I love the 1911. It's big, it has stopping power. If you maintain it, it's an amazing gun," He grins widely and then spins the gun in his hand.

"Guns took a long time to get to where they are now. When they were first created, you shot metal balls out of broomsticks at people. Now there's a gun for almost every combat situation!"

Finna (513) has posed:
"There's similar-shaped weapons where I'm from! Firewands, they're called. Nasty things to be up against... twitchy and unreliable to use. Also expeeeeensive! You know how much Firedust costs? ... Stuff's not very easy to come by where I live..." Finna rambles a little. "And they just belch fire. Short-ranged fire. Effective. Scary! But... no substitute for a bow in my opinion!"

She sticks her tongue out again. NOT a good opinion of Firewands here!

"And 102 years... that's ooooold... but it's metal. It doesn't rust over that long?!"

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Well-made steel that you care for and treat right can survive for a very long time," Psyber admits to her, "Dry it off, oil it, and it'll be your friend for life," He laughs a bit and then tilts his head at the idea of firewands.

"That sounds like a lame flamethrower. I know a similar weapon in principal. It uses a backpack container and a hose with fuel. It spews flames over short or medium distance." He explains, "Way more effective due to continuous fire."

Finna (513) has posed:
"Well, that's good to know! ... about the metal that is. Yeesh, a super Firewand... sheesh, these worlds keep making some dangerous stuff! I should go track one down, it sounds like great fun!"

This girl should never be allowed to get her hands on a missile launcher.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Now then!" Psyber says abruptly, reaching out with both hands and planting them atop her head, "Gimme those ears~."

Psyber's fingers playfully start to work right at the base of her ears in a skillful manner, due to his skills with scratching Laine. He grins widely, figuring that he has educated her on guns enough that he can play with her ears some more.

Finna (513) has posed:
"A-awgh!" Surprised, Finna doesn't even have a chance to do anything about this sudden assault. Psyber is mean!

    Nah.

But Finna's ears twitch and flatten out somewhat. "Oooooh..." Her eyes are also turnin a bit glassy, and there's no mistaking the sudden blush. "Y-you... weirdo.... that's an eccentric taste alright..." Her shoulders are also bunching up.

She's probably had this done to her lots of times offhandedly, but like this? It's a little bit embarassing - and for her that's saying something.

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber laughs slightly as he works at the ears, "I just like playing with the ears. I dunno why." He admits, continuing to scratch and rub at them easily, "You don't seem to mind the attention. I only enjoy it because you make such a big deal about it, duh. What better way to keep the trickster off balance?"

So he DOES have a reason he likes to mess with her ears: It embarasses her.

Finna (513) has posed:
"T-tch! It's only a little bit..." Finna's shtill scrunching up her shoulders though, now trying not to show the effect the attention's eliciting from her. And failing. "So don't expect it to work again! Poo... if I was really out to trick you..."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber laughs and then releases her ears, "Payment given. Now we're even." Psyber says before reaching into his pocket to take out his wallet. He hands her a business card, "If you're ever looking for work, look me up. I have employed Exalts in the past."

Finna (513) has posed:
"Hunting down monsters, right?" Finna takes the card, and tucks it away... somewhere... after a glance. Well, Elsewhere, probably. Who knows what else she's got stuffed there. "Well, that IS one of a Steward's duties.. in a manner of speakingg... though I hear the monsters you deal with aren't the sort I've heard about?" Yup, now she's curious. And speaking of curious...

"So... what do YOU think I would've done if you'd gone for the showers instead of the weights?" She cracks a wickedly playful little smile.

If Psyber thinks to make her ineffectual, she's going to prove him wrong. All she has to do is get a blush or something out of him!

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber taps his chin to Finna, thinking of a good comeback to this statement, "You know, I dunno." He says, humming a bit. At the moment he doesn't have a witty comeback for her.

"Probably embarassment all around." He admits.

Finna (513) has posed:
"Hah! ... you're a tough nut to crack. Tougher than I expected." Finna remarks airily. "Oh well, now I have something to work with!" wait, what's THAT supposed to mean?
