11:00 pm, Los Angeles. Earth-776.

Looking over the half-lit city from his posh office, the man in white sips a drink and ponders, contemplating all that has happened. Sigh. He notices the presence that slips in behind him... the urge to strike, even as a traitor like he is, was almost overwhelming. He doesn't need to ask how the man got past his receptionist, even if he doesn't know the motive for being here. He simply makes an offer. "I have your favorite drink in the cooler. Help yourself before we talk. Or fight. Whichever it will be." He sips again. "It's time for that decision, isn't it?"

The dark-skinned man a moment later pulls up a chair, settling in to watch the lights flicker below as evacuation starts. He sloshes the dark liquid in his own glass, then takes a sip. "No, I decided a long time ago not to fight when this day came. It's up to the mortals, just as you said last time. But you... you're letting these outsiders interfere? Weren't you set upon having humanity decide its own fate?"

The lighter-haired man smiles. "Who says they won't, yet? Our world is part of a larger one now... I have no issue with letting a piece of that help. Or hinder. I think they might help, though. Humanity has a way of inspiring... and in this case, they've inspired others to fight for them. Is that so wrong? To ask for aid when you are weak?" He sets his own drink down. "Within a few weeks, we'll know the measure of mortal. I suspect you and I may find what is coming to be... interesting. Possibly painful."

The other scratches his chin. "Faith is on the rise. Your power grows, as does that of your Archdukes. Can you handle them?" He looks over with an amused smile. "And more importantly... do you think the strangers and their choice of ta king the Garou's manner of correcting matters is the right one?"

Fingers tangle together as the blonde settles back. "Right one? Tsk. The Garou are older than you, are they not? Have you ever wondered how that was even possible? The layers of reality that they work upon are more complex than humanity sees... and you should know what that means."

Again, the darker man shakes his head. "That isn't what I meant. If they succeed, it will... invalidate you. I suspect I will continue on in some fashion, but you...?"

A hand waves in the air in a dismissive motion. "Will I? Perhaps. If so, it will erase the mistake I made. If not... well, I am curious to see. What /will/ be the result of this, after it is all over? I cannot see it. Neither can you, I wager. You should remember... the Garou, and their helpers, have something neither of us have. Something that gives them the chance to turn all of this around and make it worthwhile."

The room is silent for a long while, and it's an unknown amount of time before the blonde feels the presence withdrawing with an understanding chuckle. Leaving one word behind. One word only.

"Mortality."
