Thranduil      If one is escorted to the Halls of The Elvenking, they would likely be brought past the throne which is mysteriously empty at the moment, and escorted to another alcove further down in the kingdom. The kingdom is carved deep into the mountain, but doesn't seem dark and dim as the kingdoms of the Dwarves. There are waterfalls and streams, forming a river down below the winery.

At the moment, Thranduil is sitting and reading a book, his crown set upon the table next to him. When the guards inform him that someone is coming, he rises to his feet, placing his crown upon his head and pulling the outer robe of his outfit around his shoulders. "I am in no mood for outsiders. See to it that they do not annoy me."
Ryu     Ryu had never been to such a mystical place in his entire life. He's not particularly aware of how foreign he actually is until the guards meet him and he's given an escort to the Elf King. There's a moment where the young man displays uncertainty, maybe even awkwardness as the soldiers lead him through the Elven structures and to where the King is.

Once there, though, the blue-haired man straightens up his posture and tries to appear as respectful as possible. "I apologize for any interruptions my presence has caused," he remarks, "My name is Ryan Bateson. I'm a former soldier of a place called Wyndia. Fang told me that you could use some help, and I have done some asking around and confirmed that for myself. You seem like you have encountered a lot of trouble. So I am here to help you... against that enemy that Fang so vaguely described to me, and to defend this forest when possible." He glances aside at the soldiers, warily.
"As you will have to trust me in order for me to help you effectively, I have to tell you that I am an Ally of the Union. This will have very little bearing on my ability to help you, barring instances where my assistance would directly conflict with their interests. I am here to help you and not on the behalf of the Union, but of my own volition."

He gives a somewhat sad smile over at Thranduil, the awkward youth hoping he isn't making a huge mistake. The only part he left out was the part about being a Dragon, which isn't open knowledge as of yet.
Thranduil      The statuesque Elvenking sets the book that was in his hand on the table and folds his hands in front of him regally. "My trust is not given so quickly, Ryan Bateson. The Union is full of those with good and bad intentions. I cannot determine which you have before allowing you to come and go from the Kingdom freely. I cannot be held responsible for any injury you sustain while fighting on our behalf or by your own will. There is a great evil to the south. We would prefer it if the outsiders who come here did not become corrupted and attempt to destroy us."
Ryu     Ryu carefully watches the elven king before him. It's an imposing figure, and someone of higher rank than he has ever addressed before. It made him nervous, but he seemed to have the discipline to remain attentive when the man spoke. "I understand," he replies, in a more mellow tone of voice. He considers, briefly, the idea of being corrupted. Surely his nature as a dragon would make him more susceptible...? Or maybe it was the other way around.

"I will have to earn your trust. That's expected." He nods once. "What can I do to show that I only have positive intentions for you and your people?"
Thranduil      "I will think of something. Perhaps you can do what my guard has been unable to do and clear out the nest of spiders that has come too close to our kingdom. I have requested it be destroyed for many moons but none have been able to carry out that order."

Thranduil folds his hands behind his back, starting to pace back and forth. "You could perhaps do this with your associate Fang. Just be warned that if you deviate from the path and venture into the forest, you risk never finding your way out again."
Ryu     "Spiders." Ryu furrows his brow when he repeats that, momentarily troubled when he realizes what that actually means. "Very large spiders, then? It sounds like a mission I am quite used to, actually." He actually seems to look more comfortable, now that he's aware of what sort of trouble he's bound to be getting into. He nods at Thranduil. "I will find him and we should be able to clear the nest out without much of a problem."

"Is there anyone that can give me information about these spiders?" Because he doesn't want to bore the King with this kind of stuff, figuring an advisor might work better for getting a job like this done. "I'd prefer to be as prepared as possible for this."
Thranduil      "They are the size of horses." Thranduil says, pouring himself a goblet of wine, offering some to Ryu. "You may ask the scouts, or the captain of the guard, Tauriel. They are quite vicious and not particular about what...or whom they consume. You would be wise to clothe yourself in something more protective than...that."
