Gaius Van Baelsar The Citadel's park is a peaceful place in the Confederate territory. The cold wind was blowing in from the winter overtaking the lands. Trees were starting to lose their leaves and others were showing off their winter golden colors.

It was peaceful here and this location is where Gaius Van Baelsar, Legatus of the XIV Legion desired to meet Mihk Lihzeh. Though for what reason, the opposing figure of the Garlean Empire did not say and yet the Legatus stood in the park, on the walk way.

Hands behind his back as he looked up at some of the winter colored trees. The beauty of the park itself really. Those voidful lens in his helm reflecting ever so slightly the world he looks at, while a good deal of it is taken away by the darkness from the lens itself.

Given though Mihk was part of the expedition and was useful, perhaps it was nothing bad at all! Or perhaps because she did address herself as an Eorzean, it has stirred some unrest within the Garlean Empire itself-- an address that Gaius now has to handle.

Or perhaps it is just a civil chat.

It was always hard to say with the Legatus, unless you honestly sat down to know the man behind the helm.

Yet that could be said about any-- even Mihk herself..
Mihk Lihzeh     With the grace her species is known for, Mihk makes her way down the walkway, nodding politely to those she passes on her path to the meeting point. She rubs her arms with gloved hands, and adjusts her beret along with her glasses as she goes.

She easily spots the imposing figure, and shifts her gait to slowly approach. Once in earshot she calls out. "I am here."
Gaius Van Baelsar The Imperial Legatus stands there even as Mihk address him, there was a moment of silence, before he at last turns toward the smaller feline woman and seemingly gazes down at her. "Good day to you, Lihzeh." He says with calmness in his voice and no aggression in his tone, "I thank you for coming to meet me so quickly."

The Legatus motions to the bench, "If you wish to sit, go ahead, but this may be a simple conversation." Gaius then lowers his hands to his side as he continues, "But it deals with your introduction to Adrain, willingness to show your abilities, and a growing concern I have for your own safety by those whom are not of my Legion."
Mihk Lihzeh     Mihk's ears perk, then flatten down and her expression grows grim. "I am proudly Eorzean, and my abilities are what ultimately made the battle with that Voidsent monstrosity a matter of simplicity." she replies, tail lashing back and forth.

"As far as my safety is concerned, you should be more worried about any of your legion or outside of it who dares attack me because of where I hail from." she adds, arms folding over her chest as she stares up at that impassive mask.
Gaius Van Baelsar Gaius is silent again for a moment. "You are being unnecessarily defensive, Lihzeh. The need of aggression is not required and I am grateful for the display of your abilities when my men needed it. So was Ewald-- which as you may have guessed from his stature is an Ala Mhigan."

"I have no quarrel with those of Eorzea whom wish to side with the Garlean Empire or those who wish to remain neutral to the war. This is something you have expressed that your underground guild has expressed, with the majority wishing to study and not be part of our war."

"Yet, as I know-- you are a member of the Confederacy, as I. I am working to integrate a strange friendship between the Garlean Empire and the Confederate military.. as the Eorzean Alliance does the same with the Union." Gaius explains this calmly, continuing to show no malice.

"Adrain had informed his superior of the fact you were their within the Confederacy and I turn explained that you are not of the side of the Eorzean war, but a citizen who was outcasted by her own people due to her studies into the beginnings arts of summoning. An art that is decreed-- so far-- by her own governments of City States as illegal."

Gaius then tilts his head faintly, "By your display, you have brought interest by those of my equal to attention of your guild. Though by my already interaction with you, my Emperor is already aware.. but what concerns me however is that there are those I can not protect you from.. and there are those who seek you out.. if not those within your own guild."
Mihk Lihzeh     Mihk continues to glower. "The Arcanist guild is capable of protecting itself. Should we lose a sect, we establish a new one. Every member knows what they are getting into before they agree to join." she replies cooly. "And your heirarchy does not concern me, nor is it something the Guild Master shows any concern for either." she adds, narrowing her eyes a little. "I will tell you this, Legate, with no malice towards you, that is /any/ Garlean assaults myself, or anyone from the Guild, or causes their cover to become compromised, the offender will be severely dealt with."
Gaius Van Baelsar "And has it not occurred to you, by the openness you have displayed of summoning your companion and tome, that you may be already exposing your guild?" Gaius asks in turn.
Mihk Lihzeh Mihk Lihzeh says, "Isolated incidents of one Miqo'te who has no significant ties to any othe Eorzean?" Mihk responds curtly. "I am simply an errant, an outcast.""
Gaius Van Baelsar "With two others whom were placed into custody by the Immortal Flames." Gaius returns back. "That is three in count, which starts to cause some to wonder if there is more. Though this has yet to honestly rise, but it is something you should think about."

There was a moment again of silence from the Legatus as he exhales gently. "Be it as is, I have explained to Adrain and his superior that though you carry the title of Eorzean, you are not of their society we aim to deal with, but the outlining group, as some of the Ala Mhigans who resist the Garlean Empire are."

"You and a few other are the minority and I reminded them it is my duty to handle the security of our nation when it comes to handling the Eorzeans. Given one of my best whom I may one day make Tribune hails from Eorzea. Even if brought in by pay at first." Gaius shakes his head gently, "As I have said to you before, Lihzeh.. I have the best attentions for Eorzea and I am not your enemy. Even if you do not side with the Empire or take her side, understand-- as an individual-- as a member of the Confederacy.. I am not your enemy nor will I be unless you force my hand to become one."

"And that I would not wish, given your own ranks with the Confederacy as well.. and I hate for that to be tarnished on either side." Gaius admits with a more gentle sound in his voice. "You have good attentions, this I see, but be weary of others-- even those within your own."

"As I even have to be of my own nation.."
Mihk Lihzeh     Mihk keeps her eyes narrowed. "I shall take that under advisement, Legate." she remarks simply. "Was there anything else you wished to enlighten me about my affairs and those of my fellows?"
Gaius Van Baelsar "Yes." Gaius continues to remain calm. "Why do you call me Legate, even though you are aware my title is Legatus? Given I am aware you have an accent, you could also simply call me Van Baelsar or even by my confederate rank."
Mihk Lihzeh     Mihk blinks at that, her laser-like gaze falters, and her mismatched eyes look away out across the park. "I will make no comment on that." she replies simply. "If that is everything I shall take my leave."
Gaius Van Baelsar Gaius watches as her mood falters some. The Legatus simply looks at one of the trees once more, before he looks to her. "You did a good job protecting my men, I thank you for that. You are safe to use your gifts around them and continue to protect them."

"And your tactic is sound on using your Carbuncle to lore any further creatures, but for the safety of your guild-- I ask that only you do these expeditions.. not your allies" Gaius then goes to look away. "..that will be all, Lihzeh.."
Mihk Lihzeh     Mihk nods, takes a short bow. "May you walk in the Light of the Crystal. And may the Navigator guide your feet." she says, before turning and walking away, much more briskly than she arrived.
