Seto Kaiba      The Great Ocean's Eastern Loop is a place of naval technology, a place where many ships sail. But, of course, these places are a place with many sunken battleships. Whether they be sailing vessels, or more advanced warships, the bottom of this ocean has many sad stories to tell. And, perhaps, this is why Kaiba has decided to send an invite for a game here. It's an appropriate battlefield to play a dangerous board game.

Invites have been sent to the various spirits of battleships that are now across the Multiverse. These invitations invited the lot of them to partake in a game, albeit an openly dangerous one. A competition between the Confederacy and the Union. The exact danger of the game is not listed, but it is noted in the invitation to be a sort of alternative to a normal battle, and a way to help settle grudges. Only two invitations were accepted, but for this game, that is all Kaiba needs.

He is currently standing, on the remains of an oil platform. Most of it seems to have been destroyed in various battles, and only random chunks remain. Across from him on both sides, there are two other platforms. These platforms are where the two competitors will stand.

There are various other platforms that were once part of the oil rig, but now serve as impromptu seating, for any who decide to show. Otherwise, though, Kaiba waits, for the two competitors to show.
Samar     'Spirits of ships' is a description that can only apply to a few individuals of the Confederacy. Of them, only one in particular comes today to answer this unusual challenge, representing her sisters in a more tactical form of combat than the brute force many of them employ.

Savo is one of the few Abyssals formed from war waged at a base of operations. While powerful in her own right, she is not one to fight directly. Second in command to Samar, she is more of a strategist, arranging the movements of her allies and any aircraft she's generated to crush her allies while adding her own harassment from afar. If anyone is interested in alternative forms of battle, it would be her.

Such is why the pale woman rises out of the ocean near her platform, sitting on the bizarre mechanical 'throne' that serves as her weapon platform and launching strip for aircraft. She grins as the water pours off of her and the dark metal of her mechanical base, red eyes held wide open in anticipation. It's even the perfect environment for her kind!

Once she floats over to the platform, her throne of black, twisted metal and weaponry hovering over the platform's surface, she looks over to Kaiba and waves her hand in greeting (the one that isn't plugged into the giant maw beside her, ichor drooling between its teeth). "Hey! So what's this thing for, anyway? You said it was some kind of 'alternative' thing, right?"
Elasaid Hood     Elasaid isn't exactly the Spirit of a Battleship, she's a normal human woman with the magical power of a Patron granted to her. Same enough for most people though. She strides across the waters surface, moving at a clip that belies her seemingly slow gait. She arrives at, and scales up to the top of her platform, before standing with arms folded in front of her.

"Hood is on station." she looks over to Kaiba. "You said this was to be a game. Let us hear the rules and commence. Shall we?"
Wo     Despite the seeming intention to come alone, it wasn't quite true. Perhaps as part of her independent investigations, the Wo-class aircraft carrier has arrived separately and made her way to the spectator seating - such as it is, being assorted, mangled parts of the once-functional superstructure. She makes no particular secret of her presence, hitching a ride up by hanging off of one of her own aircraft, the throaty whine of its jet turbine easily supporting her weight. It actually looks a bit silly at a glance, but her face remains stoic and fixated on the gathering challengers despite.

Settling in atop a weathered steel beam, she takes a seat and smooths out the back of her black cape, also removing her hat - an unusual sight - and placing it next to her, where its own mouth continues to 'breathe'. The plane that had hoisted the both of them up remains deployed, hovering near to its 'parents', but seemingly content to help observe the nature of the contest.
Seto Kaiba      Kaiba smiles, looking at the two. Well. He isn't surprised that both of them are curious what /exactly/ this is. He kept it pretty vague. So, he looks at the two, trying to pay attention to both of them equally, and give them both equal eye contact. As the one organizing this game, it is best if he remains as neutral as possible, afterall.

"Well. Yes. This is a game, and it is an alternative to your battles. But. It is still likely to cause both of you a fair amount of pain. The game we are playing today is one both of you /might/ be aware of. In fact, I'd be surprised if you weren't. Today's game is..."

     Dramatic pause.

     "BATTLESHIP!"

Suddenly, from the ocean, /gigantic/ game boards rise up. Though they are placed so that the two can see eachother, both players can not see the other's board. The 'board' consists of two main parts. A large square sitting vertically, with a grid of lights on it. It's 10 by 10, and the grid is labeled alphabetically and numerically. An identical shaped (albeit smaller) board is next to the competitors, and out of sight of their opponents. A number of ship-shaped figures are laid out.

"Place your ships on the grid. We'll use a random number generator to determine who goes first. And then, you'll take turns guessing numbers on the grid. Sink all of your opponent's vessels? And you win."

"But. If your /own/ ship is hit, well. You'll feel the pain of that happening /yourself/. Commanders should feel the pain as their men sink to the sea, after all."

Kaiba looks at the two, remaining calm still.

"So. Place your pieces. And, if you want to make the stakes larger, feel free to put forth bets."
Samar     Elasaid's appearance shifts Savo's grin almost immediately into a frown. Of /course/ one of the Fleet Maidens would come for this. Knowing that doesn't really make Savo any more fond of the idea, though; she's always been the one more prone to visible swings in her mood, not like the stoic Samar. Perhaps that's why she's still only second-in-command.

That glower shifts back to Kaiba when he addresses them again, but it's at least lessened in its spiteful intensity. Soon enough her visage even shifts to curiosity, and finally to wide-eyed surprise when the game board appears in the ocean. Savo's red eyes blink, and then an even wider grin spreads over her face.

Yes. This is /perfect/ for her.

The Airfield Princess takes a moment to dislodge herself from her mechanical base. First her right arm is yanked out from the port in the side of that bizarre maw, showing the clawed gauntlet of black metal encasing that entire arm, and then she pushes herself off the seat, unplugging the four ports on her lower back from the four mounts on the base and landing on her boots. The mechanical structure sinks down to rest on the platform instead of hovering, and, still grinning in excitement, Savo takes a minute to interlace her fingers and stretch out her hands in front of her, palms out.

"Battleship, huh? Well, sounds like you know what I'm suited for." Hopping briefly in place, Savo's attention shifts over to Elasaid next as her arms drop to her sides. "I guess we'll be seeing how high and mighty you are when you don't have raw power on your side! Get ready to sink, Fleet Maiden!"

With that taunt sent across the board, Savo immediately begins placing her pieces down on her own board. It takes her a few moments, considering her options, placing and changing her mind. She finishes soon enough, however, and folds her arms over her chest as she stands in regal defiance on her platform, prepared to start their game of DEATH BATTLESHIP.
