Neva Fernandez     And now we're back in Ravnica, or more specifically the spires of the Izzet Guild, which Neva has spent some time exploring and seeing just who's who, what's what, and avoiding the explosions in general. After a while of that bit of wandering, she once again gravitated back to a table somewhere in the relative Privacy of a table somewhere in the Nivix spire, where she's busy playing a bit of Solo Magic.

Even as Neva practices, losing herself in thought as she taps three mana in order to put a creature into play, the air seems to teem with mana around her. She's not actively trying to cast spells or anything, but the act of playing the game seems to be triggering something in the mana around her.
Rhapsody     Well at least they got rid of mana burn in her world, so it won't happen here right?... Right? Either way, as Neva has been practicing the occasional Izzet mage has wandered by, peered over, possibly sneered at the card game, and wandered on. Enough, in fact, that a certain someone was finally notified that there was a 'loiterer' somewhere in the guild. After asking for a description, however, this certain someone decided to go have a look for herself.

15, 20, 30 minutes after Neva started, there's the sound of someone on approach, but the sound of boots against the ground is accented by claws meeting the flooring under them. "You know, Neva, you don't have to be all by yourself in the spire, right?" asks a friendly voice. Its owner would turn out to be Rhapsody Mizzet, whom seems happy to see her 'partner in escapades' once again.
Neva Fernandez     The Deckmaster was so in the Zone that Rhapsody's arrival actually startles Neva a little, reflexively jolting into attention as she blinks, "Whowhahuh?" Is her immediate wording, followed by a little bit of relief as she replies, "Oh, Rhapsody, hey! Who said I was by myself? I've got Bob with me." She gestures over to Bob, who happens to be standing there to the side, silently waving at Rhapsody in greeting.

Neva pauses a moment to draw from her deck and slip the card into her hand, putting a mountain down as she says, "Besides, I'm used to being by myself. Nobody telling me what to do, or where to be. Nobody to disappoint or be disappointed in... Just me." She just mumbles quietly, no hint of her usual bombast that she almost perpetually engages in.
Rhapsody     That... last part wasn't quite the reaction Rhapsody was expecting. She does a good job at hiding it though, offering a friendly wave to Bob before pulling up a chair that happens to be nearby. "I can't say I'm used to that," she replies finally, after taking a long look at all the cards on the table. "I can bet you that Sidonia is within 10 paces right now... all the magewrights wandering around," a thoughtful hrm, her mind turning on the 'disapointed' comment. "What I can understand... though... is not wanting to disapoint people," she says, a little lower tone in her voice. It brightens a little as she speaks again, "Thankfully, I have a lot of friends around here, so, that's a plus." She considers Bob, again, "I have to say, Neva, I can't say I've seen a weird be so calm for so long.." sudden topic change. Beware whiplash.
Neva Fernandez     Neva's brow sort of furrows a bit, "Oh, I'm pretty sure I've never disappointed anyone... Especially when they're not there for me to disappoint." The tone is at the same time sad and bitter, but she shakes her head, as she tries to shift topics, "That's because Bob's been freshly summoned. Have to resummon him now and again because Blistercoils are on the less stable side, I suppose?"

Case in point, Bob suddenly bulks up as a bit when an explosion occurs in the not too distant distance. Neva smirks a bit, "I suppose he should explode at some point, but eh..."
Rhapsody     Again the disappointment comment, still, it seems the Guildmaster doesn't really want to touch on the subject. She does, however, notice as Bob seems to 'tense up' and then relax. "Ah, heh, I see, then. I just haven't seen you summon him, he just always seems to be with you. Very loyal, I was thinking," she muses. "He doesn't -have- to explode. Not everything in the Izzet has to explode." Beat. "Just more than half of it." Smirk.

A few moments pass, then, "So, have you been venturing around Ravnica more? Looking around the spire? Or maybe the second one? I imagine Thirix probably caught you off guard a bit when you saw it."
Neva Fernandez     "Yeeeah, nothing in the lore about a -second- spire." Neva says, as she leans back and scratches her head, "I guess that's what happens when you give a super-smart dragon with too much time on his hands an extra Multiverse worth of things to be inspired by."

She stretches her arms out a bit and she takes this moment to tap two mountains and throws two Lightning Bolt Cards out, and grins as she points to the board. "Alright, I had a pretty nice running start to this one..." She gestures to her creatures, "Every single creature that's out right now has an ability that gets proced whenever an instant or Sorcery gets procced. So for instance..." She gestures to the Young Pyromancer, "This guy spawns an elemental token..." Then she points to the the Satyr Firedancer, "This guy deals to a creature the same amount of damage an instant or sorcery does to the opponent.." Then lastly pointing to the two Guttersnipes, "And these guys toss out two damage to every opponent in the game."

She then grins and points to the two lightning bolt cards, "Two lightning Bolts just did a lot of work for me."
Rhapsody     "Niv never cared to learn a lot about the card game. I often find myself curious but.. well.." she shrugs a little. "I can't use magic very well. Maybe a few cantrips, cards like this one," she says, tapping a finger on one of Neva's two lightning bolts, "That have a 'cheap cost', but complex things I can't even get close to. Someone once explained to me as 'I have to draw two mana just to use one.." she explains. "So I guess I would need 'two red' to use one of those.." she says. Seems she understands the game more than she lets on. "Thankfully," she starts, drawing out one of her spellblades. A red hilt with a mizzium blade, though it would be a steel color, "This can cast one of those," she motions at the lightning bolt, "Six times before Ryxinel has to charge it again.."
Neva Fernandez     Neva arches an eyebrow as she listens, tilting her head a bit, as she shrugs, "I'm sure you'll get better eventually. I'm not exactly a pro Planeswalker myself. Without the cards, I'm only really able to throw a few cantrips around myself. If I wanna do something BIG, I gotta get the deck out and start playing."

She hmms a little, before gathering her cards up and shuffles the deck up, and pushes it to Rhapsody's side of the table, while she pulls out another deck. "Well, since you're curious, let's play a round, okay?" She says with a grin.
Rhapsody     That gets a blink, a tilted glance at the offered deck, but then the guildmaster picks it up and starts to shuffle it a bit, "Sure, why not?" Its their game, and her world was in the game, so, may as well try the game! What's the worst that could happen? Lose? That's to be expected, isn't it..?

"Despite Niv's lack of interest he actually knew a lot about these cards. I caught him looking at them once in a while. He often wondered if me or my siblings would show up on them.
Neva Fernandez     Neva nods a little as she shuffles her own deck, and instructs, "Once you shuffle, draw seven cards and keep them in your hand. If you don't have any lands in the hand, you can just mulligan until you do. If you have enough lands but don't like it, just mulligan, but draw one less."

The deck that Neva's handed over to Rhapsody being a Blue and Red deck, with a fair number of Ravnica set cards in there, and if the hand is really lucky, Rhapsody may draw a certain dragon right off the bat.
Rhapsody     An understanding nod, a few more shuffles, and then something she's noticed Theo doing every time. She sets the deck down, then slides it slightly toward Neva. "Theo always asks someone to cut his deck, so... I will too? That's the right thing to do isn't it?" she asks.
Neva Fernandez     Neva shrugs a little and sets her deck down too, "Sure. It's not really super-neccessary, but it's usually done as an assurance that someone doesn't cheat, so, no big." She proceeds to cut the deck, taking the top half and putting it under the bottom, and then pushing it back to Rhapsody.
Rhapsody     After watching Neva do it, Rhapsody would cut the other deck and then take hers back. "Still seems like its a sort of common courtesy, so, may as well do it, you know?" she muses before starting to pick up her opening hand.
Neva Fernandez     "Mostly!" The deckmaster grins as she takes her hand back and draws her cards out, hmming a bit before saying, "I like this hand. This hand is good." She grins, and asks, "Pass or Play? If you pass first turn, then you get to draw on yours."
Rhapsody     A thoughtful glance is given the cards in her hand, as if she's counting, and then, "I think I can play with this alright," she muses, considering what to place down first. Sort of obvious isn't it? How about Sir Gregor Clegain. They call him, The Mountain. (NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD) "That's all."
Neva Fernandez     Rather than playing an Izzet colored Deck, Neva seems to have opted for a Gruul Deck, with a Dragon Theme. Neva spends a lot of her early game having a little bit of difficulty ramping up, despite the Mana Ramp nature of the green part of the deck, since the harder hitting dragons are quite big in cost.
The Izzet Deck that Rhapsody is using, in the mean time, spends parts of the early game either putting on the burn or controlling the board and slowing Neva's own game, with all the pieces gearing up for an explosive one-shot.

The game ends, however, when Neva manages to oull off a three-card Dragonstorm, and Neva is grinning from ear to ear from her success pulling out three dragons, "Dragonstorm is so beautiful.."
Rhapsody "That's.. a really impressive thing, there. I feel like that actually happened here in Ravnica once but I was barely old enough to remember it..." Just imagine, a massive flight of dragon whelps decending on Arbiter Augustin and leaving nothing but a tattered robe and an Azor signet behind. Cause that's basically what happened." Really interesting game, though, I appreciate the help in trying to figure it out."
Neva Fernandez     Neva grins as she sits back, "Anytime! It's really kind of easy once you figure out the mechanics. And who knows, it might actually help you out with your mana problems. I mean, if it feels like you need to draw two mana instead of one, for the lightning spell, it might just be that you're casting Lightning Strike and not Lightning Bolt. Lightning Bolt is strictly better, more damage for less cost..."

Neva pauses and mumbles, "I know I talk about things in terms of game mechanics... It's just what I know, you know?"
Rhapsody "Oh, no, I understand, that was just how Niv described it. That I need extra mana for anything I cast, that's all. It's all because of what happened a bit before I hatched, Neva. Bit of a long story, but I'd be happy to explain it to you, sometime. Maybe you'll hear something you recognize."
