Ryu     The warp gate is an ancient-looking stone structure that sits not far from a major highway. The immediate surroundings are heavily modernized, with distance farmhouses and fields seen for a long way around. From there, Wyndia can be seen, or at least the city proper. Every major building has some manner of windmill structure on it that slowly turns, each one meticulously designed and quite artistic... The wind blows in this area at a constant rate, though it's fairly gentle today.

The directions lead to an area in the downtown region of Wyndia. What is immediately obvious is that the city has seen better days, and many ruffians and soldiers are seen milling about, along with ordinary citizens of many different races. Some have bunny ears and flowing clothing, others have more serious attire and fox ears as well as fox tails. The vast majority, though, are humans, the cat-like Worens and the winged Wyndians.

They're led to a shop that has iron bars protecting its windows. This building, like many others in this area, has grafitti on it and shows the signs of old battles in the form of scorches and bullet holes in the stone walls it is built out of.

Lingering outside gives the feeling of being eyed up by predatory gazes. It's obvious that the criminal activity here is high, because the odd thug staring out from an alleyway can be spotted here and there, at least one Woren playing with a switchblade like some kind of 80s stereotype, complete with leather jacket and wild hair.

This is the place Ryu said was the most likely to be able to supply chrysm without problems. It begs the question: Just who did Ryan hang out with, exactly, when he was living here?
Fayt Ravus     Fayt steps out of the warp gate, and almost immediately frowns at what he sees. "Hoo boy." He brought a crate with him, sitting on a floating pallet, an example of the kind of things he can get hold of for any potential client he meets with. Though given whe he's seeing he can't help but wonder what he's gotten himself into.

Granted, Fayt's seen his share of dives, all part of the job when you have to make an emergency drop off to a Union member out on hte field, or 'accidently' loose a crate or two for a last chancer. But he usually has a better warning than this. "This is gonna be above board... right?"
Xiaomu Xiaomu has been meaning to make amends to Fayt for trying to invade one of his shipments to pick up some cargo that was going to have her name on it. Hearing that he's doing a 'scouting' visit somewhere for another Union member seems like an excellent opportunity to do that.

It also gets her out of writing a report for something ... at least temporarily, and maybe someone else from that incident will take care of the paperwork while she's otherwise distracted. Either way, Fayt is not alone, as the sage fox steps out of the warpgate behind him and the hoverpallet, and she takes a moment to look around.

Admittedly, Xiaomu doesn't look like much. A girl with a black zippered qipao and a red vest/jacket, toting a Buddhist monk's staff ... and with some of the weirdest hair you may ever have seen. Sure, blonde hair isn't exactly atypical, but hers appears to be gathered back into five ponytails. (Which ... well, she's not a pony ...)

She follows Fayt's lead in looking around the area, and hmms quietly. "Well, we're gonna find that out soon enough, aren't we?" she asks with a light-hearted grin.
Ryu     The inside of the store is pretty ordinary, as far as shops go. There are groceries, assorted things like alcohol and tobacco, bathroom supplies. In the back, there's a glass case with chrysm put up on display, and a few basic-looking firearms of obviously magitech origin. The man working the counter is a Woren man in a plaid shirt with rectangular glasses.

He straightens up when he sees the pair of them walk in, his brows lifting in surprise. His big bushy tiger tail wiggles behind him like he had just seen something very interesting. His eyes trail to the hovering pallet, and then to Fayt. Then up to Fayt's hair, and he furrows his brow. He puffs a sigh, and reaches below his counter, and pulls a shotgun out... and sets it down on the counter.

"Come in," he says, motioning at the pair of them, "Lock the door behind you. If we're doing business, that is." He gestures with two fingers to the pallet, and sets his hand back down on the resting shotgun. "Who sent you this way?" His voice is deep, and fits pretty well with the nearly seven-foot beast man that he appears to be, but his size is tempered by the mundane clothing he's wearing.

He's pretty distracted by Fayt's blue hair, looking at it thoughtfully when he doesn't have to talk or think of something else.
Fayt Ravus     Fayt gives Xiaomu a small frown as he walks towards the shop. "Be ready, this might get ugly..."

Inside, Fayt blinks at the other man, getting vauge memories of the time he had to deal with that gnome leader. He quickly snaps out of it though "Hmm? Ah, right." taking a moment to lock the door, Fayt makes his way up to the counter, dragging the crate behind him. right, he didn't get to ask Ryu as many questions as he'd like, here goes. "Hello. My name is Fayt Ravus. We were sent here by someone named Ryan Bateson. He pointed me to something called chrysm, said you might be able to supply it? I'm willing to work out an exchange..." He blinks as he notes the man being a bit confused by his hair, but shrugs it off. A lot of people get confused by his hair. He gets a lot of of people asking if he dyes it for some reason.
Xiaomu Xiaomu doesn't seem remotely ready for things to 'get ugly,' as Fayt puts it, to judge by her casual saunter along with the merchant as he enters the shop ... but, she's more ready for trouble than she might look like, and just acting casual instead of acting timid is enough to persuade many urban predators (both supernatural and mortal) that you're not as easy prey as you might otherwise look.

Once we're *inside* the shop, though, her demeanor becomes more businesslike, and she actually carries herself like a bodyguard, standing next to Fayt. "Xiaomu, freelance troubleshooter," she introduces herself.

Which is a pretty blatant lie, *IF* you know about Shinra. The shopkeeper shouldn't have any reason to know about the agency Xiaomu works for, though, and mentioning the Union might just confuse matters further.
Ryu     The Woren man puffs a sigh as he hears that, like it's a relief that this is fairly normal and official business. He nods to Fayt, grabbing the shotgun and resting it on his shoulder while he turns to dig out some paperwork from a bin behind the counter. Shuffle shuffle. He looks over the counter briefly, adjusting his glasses. "You ever been to Syn City, Mister Ravus?" he wonders, in an idle tone of voice.

He's soon standing upright and setting the firearm down along with the paperwork. Looks like they've got as much bureaucratic stuff as anyone else. "Ryan, you said? I heard he got drafted by the Wyndian military, haven't seen or heard from him since. Is this for the Wyndian army?" He looks to Xiaomu for a few moments after that, grunting in her direction. She seemed to be here for protection, so most of his attention was directed toward Fayt.

He taps the papers a couple times, and sets a pen next to it. "Here. Merchant contract, standard stuff. Did you say who you work for, by chance?"
Fayt Ravus     Fayt nods slowly as he looks over the contract. "I have been sent to get this for Ryan directly, what he needs it for he unfortunatly didn't say." A pause at the next question, then. "I work for a company called Black Dragon Shipping."

Fayt's not fully clear on how honest he should be at thiss point. So he decides to play it mostly safe. That said while he's not about to outright lie on the job (he's got a reputation to uphold, afterall!) he doesn't need to say every little detail. "I've brought along some magitech you may be interested in, as well as a few other things that might have your interest." He nods to the crate.
Xiaomu For her part, Xiaomu is looking casually about the shop ... although she's also taking some interest in that shotgun the proprietor owns. "So, this is a chrysm-powered gun, right?" she asks casually while Fayt's doing paperwork.
Ryu     The shop owner looks at Fayt with some deepening amusement at the name of his company. "Black Dragon, huh," he murmurs, as Fayt looks over the paperwork. The merchant will find everything in legal order. Just a simple contract framework for legal protection of both parties. There's a page for him to write down info such as contact information. "Kid uses fire chrysm," the Woren says, tapping the paperwork a couple times, on the field for what goods are being exchanged.

Xiaomu's inquiry gets a frown out of the shop owner. "Yeah," he replies, thoughtfully drumming his fingers on the weapon. "You're both from off-world?" he wonders at them, and then looks at Fayt for a second, his frown deepening. The shotgun is picked up, the wary Woren looking down at the merchant through those Dad-style glasses.

"Rumors going 'round, a blue-haired fella talked to a dragon in the middle of Syn City. Was that you?" He's clearly not okay with Fayt avoiding this question. "What's Ryan gotten himself into?"

    He sounded protective and paranoid.
Fayt Ravus     "I've Never been to Syn city." Fayt says calmly. "This is actually my first time in this world." He looks up at the woren and frowns. "You seem to have some relationship with Ryan? If it would put your mind at ease...." and your gun behind the counter, he mentally adds. "I'm willing to address whatever concerns you have with my client." Gods knows, Fayt has a few of his own at this point.
Xiaomu "I get around," is Xiaomu's casual answer to the query/accusation of being from off-world. She's still sorta playing tourist while keeping half an eye (and an ear) on Fayt and the shopkeeper. She's also curious about this 'chrysm' stuff, but asking too much about that could be rude - if not for the subject matter, then butting in while Fayt's doing business.
Ryu     The Woren man continues frowning at Fayt for a while. He nods his head at the paperwork silently, and looks over at Xiaomu, seeming suspicious toward the two of them. Highly suspicious. Eventually, he relents and decides to explain a little, though he doesn't let go of the shotgun.

"I was one of his foster parents," he tells Fayt. "Name's Sparrow," he adds, "I want to know if he's doing alright. Is he in trouble?" His tail fluff has finally gotten frazzled, but his whole posture remains almost as still as a statue. He's the kind of man who could break something effortlessly if he made an angry movement.

"I don't appreciate being tricked so you better start explaining a little better."
Fayt Ravus     Fayt sighs. "I see. He's fine and not in any trouble, outside of me possibly charging him extra for this..." He takes a moment to idly check something on radio. "Alright, I can actually explain things. Have you heard of the Union? He's joined them..." There's another pause then. "Unfortunatly he hasn't really told me much about himself or his home, so information beyond that is a bit sketchy." He brings a hand up to rub as his forehead. "At the least, I can say he's perfectly fine."
Xiaomu Xiaomu nods in agreement with Fayt. "Yeah, Ryan's fine, he's an ally of ours. Actually was hoping we could set up a supply line for him for stuff he can't get elsewhere ... which is why he pointed us to you specifically," she adds with a grin.
Ryu     The Woren stares at Fayt, the frown slowly fading. The shotgun is lowered, and placed back behind the counter. He grunts and finds a chair back there to sit down on, gesturing at the paperwork again. "I'll fill out the shipment info. I'll make it monthly," he tells Fayt. He reaches up to rub at his face, taking his glasses off to do this. His big fuzzy ears twitch a couple times. "Magitech, you said? Also accept physical currency here. They're starting to accept Multiversal credits, gotta keep ahead of the curve."

"There's no big manhunt for the kid so I know he isn't a deserter," he tells Fayt. "That does sound like him, too. He doesn't talk about himself a lot. Took months for me and the wife to pry his past out of him, before then he barely spoke a word." He crosses his arms.

"If he sent you to me, then he remembers. I guess that's the most I'm gonna get out of him. So like him," the Woren says, haggard now and rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry about the shotgun, I get people in here trying to rob me from time to time. It helps to scare 'em off. I wasn't gonna shoot you."
Fayt Ravus     Fayt nods as he fills out the paperwork writing in some contact information. "I see. and yes, I brought some magitech with me, along with a few odds and ends from around the multiverse. I can get hold of alomst anything, as long as it's legal here. I also can't move weapons, at least not outside the Union. Hopefully that's not a problem. Also If you want me to send a message or anything to Ryan, I can do that too." He'll be getting one form me later at least, he mentally adds. "Don't worry about the shotgun. I understand."
Xiaomu Xiaomu grins, "Worst you've got to worry about from Fayt is the prices he charges, but this should be a pretty fair set of deals ..."
