Kyra Hyral     Kyra is no stranger to Njorun's medical facilities. She's actually spent some spare time here, helping out and getting some extremely valuable on the job training in the medical arts. In fact, helping out in here has provided her with some of her most valuable learning experiences to date.

But this is the first time she's actually been here as a patient. She was unconscious and in critical condition when Cirra brought her in yesterday. Notably, she had /many/ broken bones, including her legs, and was greatly depleted of her magic particles. Thanks to the skill, talent, and technology here, however, none of it was remotely life-threatening. Kyra had regained consciousness a few hours ago and was fortunately given her personal items to keep her occupied while she continued recovering.

When Dominic finds her, he'll see she's laid up in a bed, some bandages wrapped around her chest, her eyes looking sunken. She seems very sullen, quietly occupied by the mPad she has in her lap. A pair of headphones is nearby but not on her head.
Dominic Masoch     Dominic is only in semi-formal dress today. This comes out to a purple shirt tucked into a pair of khaki slacks and some dress shoes. He has a messenger bag slung over one shoulder as he heads in towards her bed. He looks pretty sullen himself, having been radio-less all day yesterday due to Fencer Urban Survival Tests.

He doesn't say much, but he pretty much immediately makes his way to a seat located directly next to her resting bed and sets down his bag next to it. He drops into that chair and leans over a bit to see what she's doing on the mPad.

"Hey..." He says quietly. It's at least a start.
Kyra Hyral     If only Kyra had her clothing-she doesn't, she has one of those little hospital gowns on. Her clothing has been folded up and rests on a table in the room medical has given her. She doesn't seem to embarassed about this either, especially since it's /Dominic/ coming in to see her now. When he arrives, she looks up, silent, but eventually offering a small smile as he sits down.

She doesn't seem mad, at least, but she does seem pretty down. She puts the mPad down for a moment and reaches for the adjustable remote, making her bed fold a little so she can sit up a little taller. "Hey." she says softly, her voice not it's usual, manically cheerful self. "How'd it go?"
Dominic Masoch     Normally, as a teenage guy, Dominic would be pretty stoked to see his girlfriend half-naked in a bed, let's be honest here.

This is not a 'normally' situation, though. So he looks much more grim, "Mm. I won, but it took hours longer than expected because it came down to me against a Fencer-Ninja." He murmurs a bit, avoiding direct eye contact with her as he says this. He sighs a bit.

Absently, one of his hands reaches out to try to find hers and rest on top of it, "How are you feeling?"
Kyra Hyral     Evenly, Kyra nods. She could be angry at him, she could be mad that he wasn't there to prevent her from being beat up but...she can't find it in herself. "Congratulations." the praise sounds hollow as her smile disappears. She figits. "Sounds like it must've been tricky."

His hand falls onto hers and she looks up at him, her bottom lip curling as if she's about to...cry? "...I feel lousy. Sore. I don't know what I'm doing here, Dominic, maybe I don't belong as a Union ally if people think they can just beat me up to get what they want." She sniffs.
Dominic Masoch     "Mn..." Dominic looks over at her sadly as she curls her lip. His hand squeezes hers a bit and says, "In any world... in any situation... there are people who believe they can gain what they want through violence. This is true of Galianda, the Multiverse, and all other places."

Even if she's not mad at him, Dominic is plenty mad at himself from the look on his face at how sad she is, "This time, they targetted you. Next time, it could be me. Or Landon. Or any Unionite. Perhaps Lute will attempt to take one of those girl-ships hostage next time."

"I do know one thing," Dominic says firmly, "Kyra Hyral doesn't let people force her to do anything. The Union makes you happy, don't let them bully that out of you."
Kyra Hyral     Her eyes fall away from his to look down at the hand. They stay there, even as he continues to talk. Kyra's mood doesn't seem to improve that much either. "It could, yeah. Lute wants something else entirely out of those ship girls. And it...probably won't happen again either since he didn't get anything he wanted, I guess." She laughs a little half heartedly, "The Union didn't negotiate with him at all. So at least they're not out a dragonball over me, huh." Despite these words, she still sounds pretty /depressed/ over the way that went down.

She looks up at him again, "You know, Dominic, I'm...not really sure if it does? There's a couple people I like but...I might not actually be fitting in. Ugh, but at the same time, my parents want me to leave the Union now too because of yesterday's crap." Her free hand curls into a small fist.
Dominic Masoch     "I do not run the Union, so I cannot speak to the decisions of their command. Perhaps they had faith your friends would rally and recover you as what happened this time?" He says seriously, "But the weight of command is heavy, and if you hold doubts in that regard, perhaps you should ask the Colonel." He continues to frown, watching her.

"Kyra, for all the affection I have for you, you place too much stock in simply doing what you feel makes you the most rebellious," He notes in a gentle tone, "I will support whatever decision YOU make, but I want it to be your own. Not influenced by your parents."

"I think the Union is right for you, and I think you're just upset because Lute attempted to use you yesterday."
Kyra Hyral     "....I can only hope. Otherwise it means I'm not worth all that much to them." This thought alone seems to really upset her but after a moment, she shakes her head, clearly not interested in having any engagement with a /command structure/. "It isn't worth wasting his time about that. It's probably nothing."

She goes silent for a long moment after that, her other hand unclenching and moving to settle on top of both of Dominic's. "I want to defy them. I want to continue having adventures out in the Multiverse. And I'm not going to let them or that asshole Lute stop me. Dominic, I'm not sure on the 'how' at this point."
Dominic Masoch     "The one thing I am absolutely certain about is that you are not worthless to them. As soon as negotiations began, reports show they were rallying strike and retrieval teams while he tried to bide for time. It was standard hostage negotiation," Dominic says seriously. As a Fencer, he has a lot of Law Enforcement knowledge, so he seems to speak with some serious authority on this, "I've looked over all logs of the incident to find where it fell apart. Negotiations broke down when Lute forced an armed response based on all the radio logs."

He sighs a bit and then squeezes her hand and puts his other on top of her second hand, "How is easy. Never trust Lute again. Take friends with you when you go out."
Kyra Hyral     "...hmm." Thoughts war in Kyra's mind over this. She trusted Dominic to at least know his stuff since (despite her best efforts so far!) he was still very interested in taking the law enforcement track. Negotiation is part of the trade. But on the other hand, she couldn't help but think back when D was put in a similar situation by Lute earlier-in fact, the incident she'd been reminded of that lead her to ask that the Light Warriors hang out nearby in case something went wrong. Maybe they did think the Light Warriors could handle it?

"I guess Lute did fuck it up himself this time." she concedes, still sounding glum. "No, not just that, Dominic, my parents know what happened, it's all over Mognet. I think they're going to /make/ me come home."
Dominic Masoch     "Then let's run away," Dominic says seriously.

There's a long pause. Like... really long as he just stares at her, "Forget your family. Forget my family. What've they ever done for us?" He asks her candidly, "We can get an apartment together in Njorun. Pursue the same goals we had before, just on our own terms." He poses it to her as a serious suggestion.

A moment of teenage melodrama out of him, but he sighs a few moments later, "But I guess that would just make more problems or something."
Kyra Hyral     "'kay." Kyra says almost immediately.

A few moments pass as she watches him, studying his face during that long pause. Her eyes slowly widen, "You're...you're being serious." she concludes. Kyra's own stare intensifies.

"...yes." she says, managing to sit up a little bit more, "...yes, let's do that, let's be out here on our /own/ terms without our families trying to wreck our shit!" she sits up, almost, to emphasize her agreement but finds herself groaning as she's reminded why they made her stay in bed today.

"No, I think you're onto something. We should do it. Figure out the tuition thing for school and leave them in the dust." She shows the barest hint of a mischevious grin.
Dominic Masoch     "You know what? Yeah. YEAH." Dominic says, nodding enthusiastically. The Fencer seems to agree with her as she seems into the idea. His hands tightly grip her own and he grins, "We'll still attend Alexander and graduate, just on our own terms."

"That's the Kyra I know," He says when she seems to get that mischevious grin back, "I don't care if I'm rich or not, just as long as I'm free to be... well, me." He notes, sounding pretty enthused about the idea as she falls into line with it.

"I'm behind this idea all the way." He may already be thinking of how to get some cheap quarters at Union HQ.
Kyra Hyral     "Plus we're awesome, I bet we could get scholarships or something for Alexander Academy. I know you could easily-like, you're a sword saint which is super rare. You might have to out yourself for that, though, hmm...Me...I could. I dunno. Claim to be the first triple-Job. People seem to think I'm also a Summoner now." Kyra actually seems a bit nervous about that but she's clearly kind of into this kind of reckless plotting.

"Meh, despite what people say, I'm not into you for the money." She makes a vauge dismissive motion. Just what kind of rumors are there out there?! "Though I don't think I need to tell you that."
Dominic Masoch     "Yeah. This is a great idea," Dominic says cheerily, beaming at his girlfriend as he tightly holds her hand, "I mean, it solves our problems perfectly," He bounces in his seat a bit, nodding to her some more and thinking it over.

"You could probably get a Union-side tuition reimbursement too or something. They seem to want to encourage education." He tilts his head a bit and considers this.
Kyra Hyral     "It definitely solves our family problems." Kyra says semi-brightly, her enthusiasm still tempered by her recovery. "Especially if they never have any plan to leave Galianda. I think my parents are /afraid/ of the multiverse now, ha ha ha.." she laughs weakly.

She sobers a little, "..hmm, yeah, they do. Maybe I could ask them for that but if they're going to ask for enlistment in return, I think I might want to stick with the scholarship route."
Dominic Masoch     Dominic moves from holding her hands and sitting next to her bed to standing up and then half-sitting down on it with her, his hand going around her shoulder and giving her a gentle squeeze, "If you're serious about this, I will be. I have no real reason not to do it."

He notices the somberness in her tone and he attempts to keep her from sinking too far into negativity, "Hey. I doubt they will."
Kyra Hyral     Kyra leans into him as best as she can. She doesn't flinch when Dominic gives her that gentle half-hug, not betraying whether or not the action actually hurt her. It /might/. If Dominic was able to get a brief rundown on her condition from a doctor, a number of broken bones would have been listed. "I'm very serious about this, Dominic, let's leave /them/ behind. Just...just them, not Galianda." she adds, hastily, unsure, after speaking, why she made that distinction.

She leans her head against him as best as she can manage. "Good. I don't want any part in a chain of command!" she huffs, the Kyra that Dominic is more familiar with peeking out again.
Dominic Masoch     The squeeze was brief and soft, and moments later he switches from that to gently running his fingers through her hair, "I agree. I'm with you one hundred percent on this, Kyra. We can be Galiandans without being part of our families." He seems fully on board with her plan. And pretty content with going through with it.
